The manual for the OPEL ROCKS-E 2022 uses three levels of safety warnings:

Danger: Text marked with “Danger” provides information on the risk of fatal injury. Disregarding this information may endanger life.

Warning: Text marked with “Warning” provides information on the risk of accident or injury. Disregarding this information may lead to injury.

Caution: Text marked with “Caution” provides information on possible damage to the vehicle. Disregarding this information may lead to vehicle damage.

The OPEL ROCKS-E 2022 comes with two keys:

Key 1: This key is used to lock and unlock the doors.

Key 2: This key is used to switch the motor on and off.

To lock or unlock the vehicle, insert the key into the door lock and turn it clockwise or anticlockwise. The vehicle can only be unlocked or locked from the outside.

Opening from the outside: After unlocking with the key, press the door lock to open the door.

Opening from the inside: To open the door from the inside, pull the opening strap.

Caution: Do not open the door when the vehicle is moving.

Closing Doors from Inside: To close the doors from the inside, pull the closing strap of the respective door.

Adjusting Mirrors: The door mirrors are adjusted and folded manually. Move the door mirrors in several directions to obtain the best visibility.

The windows consist of a fixed upper part and a moveable lower part.

Opening:

1. First, press the locking handle to release the window.

2. Then, lift the window as far as possible to keep it fully open.

Caution: When opening the window, ensure that it is properly locked before driving off, as it may unlock or lower while driving.

Closing:

1. To unlock the window for closing, pull the window from the outside, then lower it until it locks in place.

2. Press against the window to check if it is locked.

Caution: Keep a close watch on the windows when closing them. Ensure that nothing becomes trapped in them as they move.

Only the driver’s seat is adjustable. To adjust the seat:

1. Pull the handle located under the seat.

2. Slide the seat to the desired position.

3. Release the handle.

4. Try to move the seat back and forth to ensure that it is locked in place.

For a seat belt to be effective, it must be used correctly:

Positioning:

• The lower part of the strap must be positioned as low as possible on the pelvis.

• The upper part must be positioned in the hollow of the shoulder.

Usage Rules:

• It must be tightened as close to the body as possible.

• It must be pulled in front of you with a smooth movement, checking that it is not twisted.

• It must only be used to secure one person.

• It must not show signs of tearing or fraying.

• It must not be changed or modified, in order to avoid affecting its performance.

The seat belts are equipped with an inertia reel which allows the strap length to adjust to your shape automatically. The seat belt returns to its storage automatically when not in use. Before and after use, ensure that the seat belt is reeled in correctly.

Fasten:

1. Withdraw the belt from the retractor.

2. Guide it untwisted across the body.

3. Insert the latch plate into the buckle.

4. Make sure the belt fits tightly to the body while driving. Loose or bulky clothing prevents the belt from fitting snugly. Do not place objects such as handbags or mobile phones between the belt and your body.

Unfasten:

1. To release the belt, press the red button on the belt buckle.

2. Guide the seat belt as it is reeled in.

Using seat belts while pregnant:

The lap belt must be positioned as low as possible across the pelvis to prevent pressure on the abdomen.

Using seat belts for children:

• An incorrectly installed child seat compromises the child’s safety in an accident.

• Ensure there is no seat belt or seat belt buckle under the child seat, as this could destabilise it.

• The chest part of the seat belt must be positioned on the child’s shoulder without touching the neck.

• Ensure the lap part of the seat belt passes correctly over the child’s thighs.

• Use a booster seat with a backrest, equipped with a belt guide at shoulder level.

• In accordance with European regulations, all children under the age of 12 or less than 1.5 m tall must travel in approved child seats appropriate for their weight, on seats fitted with a seat belt.

• Do not use forward-facing child restraint systems when the child’s weight is below 13 kg.

The following table indicates the options for installing child restraint systems in the OPEL ROCKS-E 2022 based on the weight of the child.

Notes:

1) Group 0: birth to 10 kg. Carrycots and infant carriers cannot be installed on the front passenger seat.

2) Universal child seat: child seat that can be installed in all vehicles using the seat belt.

U: Seat position suitable for installing a child restraint system secured using the seat belt and universally approved for rearward facing and / or forward facing use.

UF: Seat position suitable for installing a child restraint system secured using the seat belt and universally approved for forward facing use.

The instrument panel and driver’s area of the OPEL ROCKS-E 2022 include the following components:

1. Window locking handle

2. Closing strap

3. Turn lights / Windscreen wiper and washer / Horn

4. Opening strap

5. Driver Information Centre

6. Ignition switch

7. Heating and ventilation system / Hazard warning flashers

8. USB port

9. Parking brake

10. Lever without function

11. Electric drive unit

The OPEL ROCKS-E 2022 offers several storage solutions:

1. Front storage compartment

2. Driver’s storage compartment / housing for Bluetooth speaker

3. Mobile device holder

4. Hook for handbags

5. Door panel storage compartments

6. Passenger storage compartment

The modular load space in the Rocks-e Cargo is a multifunctional load compartment next to the driver’s seat.

Movable Shelf:

• It has a movable shelf at the top which is limited to a maximum of 40 kg. Do not drive with bulky objects on the movable shelf due to risk of falling objects and poor visibility.

• To remove the movable shelf, pull it upwards. It can then be stored vertically next to the driver’s seat.

• Do not drive with the movable shelf folded up.

Foldable Shelf:

• There is a foldable shelf in the middle where flat objects with a length of up to 1.2 m can be stored. Secure the load in the middle of this shelf with appropriate fasteners.

• To increase the size of the load space, the foldable shelf can be folded up.

Storage Compartments:

• It includes a closed storage compartment for small objects. To open the cover, press the button.

• It also has a document holder on the movable shelf where documents can be stored.

Horn:

Press the button on the end of the control lever to sound the horn.

Windscreen Wiper:

Use the stalk to control the wiper. The settings are:

• LO: continuous wiping

• INT: interval wiping

• OFF: off

Do not use the wiper if the windscreen is frozen.

Windscreen Washer:

Pull the lever toward you. Washer fluid is sprayed onto the windscreen and the wiper wipes a few times.

The Driver Information Centre displays key vehicle information:

1. Charge level of the high voltage battery

2. Speedometer

3. Selected drive mode (D, N, R)

4. Odometer

5. Driving range or remaining charging time

Additionally, a connectivity box attached to the on-board diagnostic connector (OBD-II) underneath the steering wheel sends vehicle data via Bluetooth, which can be displayed and analysed on a smartphone.

Automatic Light Control:

When the ignition is switched on, all the lights (sidelights, low beam, and number plate light) come on automatically. When the ignition is switched off, all the lights go out.

Hazard Warning Flashers:

Operated by pressing the button with a triangle symbol. The hazard warning flashers can operate with the ignition off.

Turn Lights:

• Move the indicator lever up for right turn lights, or down for left turn lights.

• For three flashes, tap the indicator lever briefly without passing the resistance point.

• For constant flashing, move the lever beyond the resistance point. It deactivates when the steering wheel is moved in the opposite direction or manually returned to neutral.

Heating and Ventilation:

• To activate or deactivate heating/demisting, press the button with the windscreen and three wavy arrows icon. This can take up to 15 minutes or more.

• To activate or deactivate ventilation, press the button with the fan icon.

Starting the Engine:

1. Insert the key and turn it to position 2 to switch on the ignition. The Driver Information Centre will illuminate.

2. Depress the brake pedal. Do not depress the accelerator pedal.

3. Turn the key to position 3. ‘N’ is engaged and ‘READY’ illuminates in the Driver Information Centre.

Switching Off:

1. Depress the brake pedal.

2. Apply the parking brake.

3. Turn the key to position 1.

4. Release the brake pedal. A few seconds later, the Driver Information Centre and lights will go out, and the steering column will lock automatically.

The drive mode, neutral, and reverse gear are selectable via buttons next to the driver’s seat.

• D: Drive mode. To shift into D, the brake pedal has to be depressed.

• N: Neutral. In this mode, the propulsion system does not transfer torque to the wheels. To restart the propulsion system when the vehicle is already moving, use D only.

• R: Reverse gear. To shift into and out of R, the vehicle must be at a standstill and the brake pedal has to be depressed. Shifting into R while moving forward could damage the electric drive unit.

If a drive position is selected without any pressure on the pedals for 5 seconds, a warning chime will sound. Press D or R on the drive selector, then accelerate or brake.

Applying the Parking Brake:

Always apply the parking brake firmly without operating the release button. Apply it as firmly as possible on a downhill or uphill slope. When parking on a slope, turn the front wheels towards the kerb. Before leaving the vehicle, check that the parking brake control indicator (P) is illuminated constantly.

Releasing the Parking Brake:

To release the parking brake, pull the lever up slightly, press the release button, and fully lower the lever. To reduce the operating forces, depress the foot brake at the same time.

The charging performance depends on the temperature of the high voltage battery. When the temperature is above 5 °C, the charging process takes up to 3.5 hours. Below 5 °C, it could take up to 6 hours. Charging is not possible if the battery temperature is below -5 °C.

Charging Procedure:

1. Before charging, park the vehicle as close as possible to a domestic electrical outlet, apply the parking brake, and switch off the engine.

2. The charging cable is permanently attached and stored inside the passenger door frame. Unfurl the charging cable fully.

3. Connect the charging cable to a domestic electrical outlet. Do not use an extension cable, multi-plug connector, conversion adaptor, or a damaged power outlet.

4. The charge level and remaining driving range (or remaining charging time) will be displayed in the Driver Information Centre.

5. The charging process stops automatically when the battery is fully charged. “0:00” will be displayed.

6. After charging, disconnect the charging cable from the outlet, open the passenger door, and store the cable in its housing. Close the passenger door, ensuring the cable passes through the guide hole in the door frame into the handle recess.

To immobilise the vehicle for more than a month:

1. Park the vehicle at a weatherproof location where the temperature is between 0 °C and 40 °C.

2. The charging level of the high voltage battery must be around 50%.

3. Disconnect the connector unit.

4. Remove the F7 fuse in fuse box 1.

5. Disconnect the vehicle battery.

Before starting, switch off the ignition, apply the parking brake, and ensure the charging cable is not connected.

Removing the Bumper:

1. For the rear bumper, first remove the number plate light.

2. Remove the two lower fixing screws from the frame.

3. Remove the two upper access flaps from the wings.

4. Remove the two upper side fixing screws from the flaps.

5. Remove the two lower side fixing screws from the wheel arches.

6. Pull the bumper horizontally for about 10 cm until the attachment points come away.

7. Disconnect the turn light wiring looms.

Refitting the Bumper:

1. Bring the bumper close to the frame.

2. Connect the turn light wiring looms.

3. Place the bumper in position and push it horizontally until the attachment points clip into place.

4. Screw in the two upper side fixing screws into the flaps.

5. Screw in the two lower side fixing screws into the wheel arches.

6. Screw in the two lower fixing screws into the frame.

7. Clip the two upper access flaps to the wings.

8. If refitting the rear bumper, replace the number plate light.

Washer Fluid:

The washer fluid tank is located behind the seats.

1. Turn both fixing screws a quarter turn and remove the access cover.

2. Remove the cap from the tank to top up. The tank capacity is a maximum of 1 litre.

3. Fill with clean water mixed with a suitable quantity of approved windscreen washer fluid which contains antifreeze.

Brake Fluid:

Brake fluid is poisonous and corrosive. To access the brake fluid tank, the front bumper needs to be removed.

1. Protect the electric motor to avoid any risks of brake fluid splashing onto it.

2. The brake fluid level must be between the MIN and MAX marks.

3. If the fluid level is below MIN, seek the assistance of a workshop.

Before working on the battery, switch off the ignition, apply the parking brake, and ensure the Driver Information Centre is off and the charging cable is disconnected. To access the battery, the rear bumper must be removed.

Removing the Battery:

1. First, disconnect the negative terminal (left-hand side). Unscrew and remove the screw (1) from the clamp (2), then remove the clamp (2) from the terminal.

2. When the negative terminal is disconnected, disconnect the positive terminal (right-hand side) in the same way. Make sure the disconnected clamps do not contact the battery terminals.

3. Unscrew the two fixing screws (3) on the vehicle battery’s retainer brace (4).

4. Remove the retainer brace (4) and then the vehicle battery.

Refitting the Battery:

1. Place the vehicle battery into its compartment.

2. Replace the retainer brace (4) and its two fixing screws (3).

3. Reconnect the terminals. Reconnect the positive terminal (right-hand side) first.

4. To reconnect a terminal, insert the nut horizontally into the terminal’s square housing, place the clamp on top, and insert and tighten the screw.

5. After the positive terminal is reconnected, reconnect the negative terminal (left-hand side).

If the vehicle battery is flat, it can be started using a backup battery and jump leads.

Warnings:

• Never start the electric motor by connecting a battery charger.

• Never use a 24 V or higher battery booster.

Preparations:

• Check that the backup battery has a nominal voltage of 12 V and a capacity at least equal to the discharged battery.

• The two vehicles must not be in contact with each other.

• Disconnect or turn off all electrical devices in both vehicles.

• Do not disconnect the positive terminal while the electric motor is switched on.

Jump-Starting Procedure:

1. Connect the red cable to the positive terminal (+) of the flat vehicle battery (2), then to the positive terminal (+) of the backup battery (1).

2. Connect one end of the black cable to the negative terminal (-) of the backup battery (3).

3. Connect the other end of the black cable to the negative terminal (-) of the flat vehicle battery (4).

4. If using an assisting vehicle, start its engine and leave it running for a few minutes.

5. Turn the ignition key to start the disabled vehicle. The high voltage battery takes over the supply to the 12 V circuit.

6. Wait for the assisting vehicle to return to idle (if applicable).

7. Disconnect the jump leads in the reverse order of connection.

8. Leave the vehicle switched on for at least 30 minutes to allow the high voltage battery to recharge the 12V battery.

Wiper Blade Replacement:

1. Grasp the wiper blade by its rigid part and pull it towards you as far as it will go.

2. While keeping the wiper arm raised, unclip the worn blade (1) and remove it (2).

3. While keeping the wiper arm raised, install the new blade and clip it into place.

4. Carefully lower the arm and support it until it reaches the windscreen.

Fuse Replacement:

The fuse boxes are located behind the seats. To access them, turn both fixing screws a quarter turn and remove the access cover.

1. Before replacing a fuse, turn off the respective switch and the ignition.

2. Unclip the access covers of the fuse boxes.

3. Pull out the blown fuse and replace it with a new one. The data on the replacement fuse must match the data on the defective fuse.

4. Do not replace the fuse until the cause of the fault has been remedied.

Tyre Pressure:

• The correct tyre inflation pressures are indicated on a label located on the base of the driver’s seat.

• Incorrect pressures can impair safety, handling, and comfort, and increase tyre wear.

• Tyre pressure values are for cold tyres (at 20 °C). Pressure increases with temperature, which must be considered when checking warm tyres.

Wheel Changing:

• The vehicle is not equipped with on-board tools like a jack or wheel brace. In the event of a flat tyre, seek the assistance of a workshop.

• Do not use tyre chains.

Towing:

• Transport the broken-down vehicle only on a platform. Use the towing eye only for recovering the vehicle or securing it for transportation.

Exterior Care:

• Do not use an automatic car wash or high-pressure cleaning devices.

• Lock the doors and windows before cleaning.

• Do not wash the vehicle in full sunshine or in extremely cold conditions.

• Use a garden hose or a sponge and soapy water to clean the vehicle. Only use pH-neutral soap.

The maximum vehicle speed and driving range depend on the battery’s state of charge and the ambient temperature.
