Read these simple guidelines. Breaking the rules may be dangerous or illegal. When using the features in this device, obey all laws and honour privacy and legitimate rights of others.

SWITCH OFF WHEN PROHIBITED: Do not switch the device on when wireless phone use is prohibited or when it may cause interference or danger.

ROAD SAFETY: Don’t use a hand-held device while driving.

INTERFERENCE: All wireless devices may get interference, which could affect performance.

HOSPITALS: Follow any regulations or rules. Switch the device off near medical equipment.

AIRCRAFT: Wireless devices can cause interference in aircraft. Switch off in aircraft.

REFUELLING: Don’t use the device at a refuelling point. Don’t use near fuel or chemicals.

BLASTING AREAS: Don’t use the device where blasting is in progress. Observe restrictions, and follow any regulations or rules.

USE SENSIBLY: Use only in the normal position as instructed in this guide. Don’t touch the antenna unnecessarily.

QUALIFIED SERVICE: Only qualified personnel may install or repair device equipment.

ENHANCEMENTS AND BATTERIES: Use only approved enhancements and batteries. Do not connect incompatible products.

WATER-RESISTANCE: Your device is not water-resistant. Keep it dry.

BACKUP COPIES: Remember to make backup copies of all important information.

CONNECTING TO OTHER DEVICES: When connecting to any other device, read its user’s guide for detailed safety instructions. Do not connect incompatible products.

Ensure the device is switched on and the phone is in service.

1. Press the end call key as many times as needed (e.g. to exit a call, to exit a menu, etc.) to clear the display.

2. Enter the emergency number, then press the call key.

3. Give your location. Do not end the call until told to do so.

Check the model number of any charger before use with this device. The NOKIA N-GAGE is intended for use when supplied with power from ACP-12, LCH-9 and LCH-12.

WARNING! Use only batteries, chargers and enhancements approved by Nokia for use with this particular device model. The use of any other types may invalidate any approval or warranty applying to the device, and may be dangerous.

For availability of approved enhancements, please check with your dealer. When you disconnect the power cord of any enhancement, grasp and pull the plug, not the cord.

The following indicators are shown when the game deck is in standby mode:

A (Signal Strength): Shows the signal strength of the cellular network. More bars mean a stronger signal. The antenna symbol is replaced with a GPRS symbol when a GPRS connection is available.

B (Clock): Shows an analogue or a digital clock.

C (Network): Indicates the cellular network currently in use.

D (Battery): Shows the battery charge level. More bars mean more power.

E (Navigation Bar/Profile): Shows the currently active profile. If the profile is ‘General’, the current date is displayed instead.

F (Selection Key Shortcuts): Shows the current shortcuts assigned to the left and right selection keys.

One or more of the following icons may be shown when your NOKIA N-GAGE is in standby mode:

Envelope Icon: Indicates you have received new messages in the Inbox. If blinking, the memory is low.

Envelope with @ Icon: Indicates you have received new e-mail (network service).

Cassette Icon: Indicates you have received one or several voice messages.

Envelope with Out-Arrow Icon: Indicates there are messages waiting to be sent in the Outbox.

Silent Profile Icon: Shown when Incoming call alert is set to Silent and Message alert tone is Off in the current profile.

Key Icon: Indicates the keypad is locked.

Alarm Clock Icon: Indicates an active alarm.

Bluetooth Icon: Indicates that Bluetooth is active. A slightly different version is shown when data is being transmitted.

Call Divert Icons: An arrow icon indicates all calls are diverted. An arrow to a cassette icon indicates calls are diverted to a voice mailbox. If you have two lines, icons with ‘1’ or ‘2’ will be shown for the respective line.

Line 2 Icon: Indicates you can make calls using phone line 2 only (network service).

Data Connection Indicators: When an application is establishing a data connection, an icon will blink. When the connection is active, the icon is shown continuously. Specific icons are used for a standard data call, a high-speed data call, an active GPRS connection, and a GPRS connection on hold during a voice call.

Fax Call Icon: Indicates a fax call.

Bluetooth Connection Icon: Indicates a Bluetooth connection is active.

Accessing the Menu:

Press the Menu key to open the main Menu grid, where you can access all applications.

Moving in the Menu:

Use the controller key (up, down, left, right) to move through the Menu grid. You can also press it diagonally when playing games.

Opening Applications or Folders:

Scroll to an application or folder and press the controller key in the middle to open it. You can select Options -> List view to see applications in a list.

Closing Applications:

Press the Back key as many times as needed to return to standby mode, or select Options -> Exit.

To return to standby mode quickly while leaving the application open in the background, press and hold the Menu key.

Pressing the End Call key will always end a call, even if another application is active.

Rearranging the Menu:

You can rearrange the menu items and create new folders.

1. Scroll to the item you want to move and select Options -> Move. A check mark appears beside it.

2. Move the selection to the new location where you want the application to be and press OK.

If you have several applications open, press and hold the Menu key. The application switching window will open, showing a list of currently open applications. Scroll to the application you want to switch to and press the controller key to go to it.

Note: If memory is getting low, the game deck may close some applications automatically. It will save any unsaved data before closing an application.

Opening items for viewing: Scroll to an item and press the controller key or select Options -> Open.

Editing items: Open an item for viewing, then select Options -> Edit to change its contents.

Renaming items: Scroll to a file or folder and select Options -> Rename.

Deleting items: Scroll to an item and select Options -> Delete or press the clear key. To delete multiple items, you must mark them first.

Marking an item:

– To mark one item, scroll to it and select Options -> Mark/Unmark -> Mark, or press the edit key and the controller key at the same time.

– To mark all items in a list, select Options -> Mark/Unmark -> Mark all.

– To mark multiple items, press and hold the edit key while moving the controller key up or down. Release the edit key to finish selection.

Creating folders: Select Options -> New folder. Give the folder a name (max. 35 characters).

Moving items to a folder: Select Options -> Move to folder. Choose the destination folder from the list and press OK.

Searching for Items:

You can search for a name, file, or folder by using the search field. In some applications, the search field appears automatically when you start typing letters. You can also activate it by selecting Options -> Find.

1. Start typing text in the search field. The game deck will search for matches and move the selection to the best match.

2. When the correct item is found, press the controller key to open it.

Volume Control:

When you have an active call or are listening to a sound, press the up or down direction on the controller key to increase or decrease the volume level, respectively.

Your NOKIA N-GAGE has a loudspeaker for handsfree use. This allows you to speak and listen from a short distance without holding the device to your ear.

Activating the Loudspeaker:

During an active call, select Options -> Activate loudsp.. A tone will play, an icon will appear in the navigation bar, and the volume indicator will change.

Important: Do not hold the game deck near your ear when the loudspeaker is in use, because the volume may be extremely loud.

Turning Off the Loudspeaker:

When you have an active call or music is playing, select Options -> Activate handset.

Note: The loudspeaker needs to be activated separately for each phone call. Sound applications like Composer and Recorder may use the loudspeaker by default.

You can listen to the FM Radio or Music Player using the supplied stereo headset HDD-2. The headset can also be used for making and receiving calls.

Connecting the Headset:

Insert the end of the black headset cable into connector (1) on the game deck. Insert the grey headset cable into connector (2). The headset lead also functions as the antenna for the radio, so let it hang freely.

Using the Headset to Receive Calls:

To answer an incoming call while using the headset, press the remote control button (3) on the microphone part of the headset. To end the call, press the same button again.

WARNINGS:

– Listening to music at a high volume may damage your hearing. Adjust the volume using the up and down directions on the controller key.

– When using a headset, your ability to hear outside sounds is reduced. Do not use a headset where it can endanger your safety.

Your NOKIA N-GAGE comes with two cables for different purposes:

1. ADE-2 Audio Line In Cable (3): You can connect your game deck to a compatible external audio system (like a CD player) to record music.

2. DKE-2 USB Mini-B Cable (1): Use this cable to attach the game deck to a compatible PC to handle sound files with the Nokia Audio Manager software. Important: You must install the Nokia Audio Manager PC software from the CD-ROM to your PC before connecting this cable.

3. ADA-2 Adapter Cable (2): You can connect your game deck to your own headphones using this adapter cable.

The following features on your NOKIA N-GAGE use shared memory:

Games

Contacts

Text messages

Multimedia messages

Images and ringing tones

RealOne Player™

Calendar and to-do notes

Downloaded applications

Using any of these features leaves less memory for other features. If you use many of these features heavily (e.g., saving many images or installing many games), you may use all of the shared memory, and the device will display that the memory is full. In this case, you will need to delete some games, images, or other entries to free up space.

Note: Music tracks are stored on the memory card and do not use the shared memory of the game deck.

Making a Call from Standby Mode:

1. In standby mode, key in the phone number, including the area code.

– For international calls, press the star key (*) twice to enter the ‘+’ prefix, then key in the country code, area code (without the leading 0), and the phone number.

2. Press the call key to dial the number.

3. Press the end call key to end the call.

Making a Call from the Contacts Directory:

1. Go to Menu -> Contacts.

2. Scroll to the desired name or key in the first letters of the name to search.

3. Press the call key to start the call. If the contact has more than one number, scroll to the correct number first, then press the call key.

Calling Your Voice Mailbox:

To call your voice mailbox, you can either:

– Press the 1 key then the call key, OR

– Press and hold the 1 key in standby mode.

If prompted, key in your voice mailbox number (obtainable from your service provider) and press OK.

Changing the Voice Mailbox Number:

To change the stored phone number for your voice mailbox, go to Menu -> Tools -> Voice mailbox and select Options -> Change number. Key in the new number and press OK.

1. First, assign a phone number to one of the speed dialling keys (2 through 9). The key ‘1’ is reserved for voicemail.

2. Ensure the speed dialling function is turned on by going to Menu -> Tools -> Call settings -> Speed dialling and setting it to On.

3. To make a call using speed dial, go to standby mode, press and hold the corresponding speed dialling key until the call is started.

Conference calling is a network service that allows you to talk with up to six participants at once.

1. Make a call to the first participant.

2. To call a new participant, select Options -> New call. The first call is automatically put on hold.

3. Key in or search for the new number and press OK.

4. When the new call is answered, join all participants into the conference call by selecting Options -> Conference.

Conference Call Options:

Add a new person: Repeat steps 2 and 3, then select Options -> Conference -> Add to conference.

Have a private conversation: Select Options -> Conference -> Private. Scroll to the desired participant and press Private. The main conference call is put on hold. To return, select Options -> Add to conference.

Drop a participant: Select Options -> Conference -> Drop participant, then scroll to the participant and press Drop.

End the call: To end the active conference call, press the end call key.

Answering a Call:

Press the call key to answer an incoming call. If you are using the supplied headset, press the remote control button.

Ending a Call:

Press the end call key. If using the headset, press the remote control button.

Rejecting a Call:

If you do not want to answer a call, press the end call key. The caller will hear a “line busy” tone.

Silencing the Ringer:

When a call comes in, press Silence to quickly mute the ringing tone without rejecting the call.

Managing Call Waiting (Network Service):

If you have activated the Call Waiting service, you will be notified of a new incoming call while you are already in a call.

1. During a call, press the call key to answer the waiting call. The first call is put on hold.

2. To switch between the two calls, press Swap.

3. To end the active call, press the end call key.

You can monitor phone calls, text messages, packet data connections, and fax and data calls in the Log. Go to Menu -> Extras -> Log.

Recent Calls Register:

Go to Log -> Recent calls. Here you can see lists of missed, received, and dialled calls. You can also see approximate duration and cost of your calls (if supported by the network).

– To view missed calls, go to Log -> Recent calls -> Missed calls.

– To view received calls, go to Log -> Recent calls -> Received calls.

– To view dialled numbers, go to Log -> Recent calls -> Dialled nos.. Alternatively, press the call key in standby mode to open the Dialled numbers view.

Call Duration:

Go to Log -> Call duration to view the duration of your incoming and outgoing calls.

Call Costs (Network Service):

Go to Log -> Call costs to check the cost of the last call or all calls.

GPRS Data Counter:

Go to Log -> GPRS counter to check the amount of data sent and received during GPRS connections.

General Log:

Go to Menu -> Extras -> Log and press the controller key to view a comprehensive log of all communication events.

Important: Use only compatible Multimedia cards (MMC) with this device. Keep memory cards out of the reach of small children.

To Insert the Memory Card:

1. Make sure the NOKIA N-GAGE is switched off. If it’s on, press and hold the power key to switch it off.

2. With the back of the game deck facing you, slide open the cover, remove the battery.

3. Remove any existing memory card.

4. Position the new memory card in its slot with the gold contacts facing down.

5. Replace the battery and the cover.

To Format the Memory Card:

You must format a new memory card before you can use it for the first time. Go to Menu -> Tools -> Memory card, then select Options -> Format mem. card. Confirm the request. Important: Formatting permanently erases all data on the card.

Backing Up and Restoring Information:

– To back up your game deck’s memory to the card, select Options -> Backup device mem..

– To restore information from the card to the game deck, select Options -> Restore from card.

Memory Card Password:

You can set a password to protect your memory card against unauthorised use.

– To set, change, or remove a password, go to the Memory card menu and select Options -> Set password, Change password, or Remove password.

– To unlock a password-protected card, select Options -> Unlock memory card and enter the password.

Note: The game deck must be switched on. Do not have many other applications open as it can reduce game performance. Remove any USB cable before starting a game.

Starting a Single-Player Game:

Each game is supplied on a separate memory card. Insert the game’s memory card into your NOKIA N-GAGE. The game icon will automatically appear in the main Menu.

1. Press Menu.

2. Scroll to the game icon and press the controller key to start.

Starting a Two-Player or Multi-Player Game:

You can play some games with one or more friends via a Bluetooth connection. Both players must have the same game on a compatible device.

1. Before starting, ensure that the Bluetooth settings of all devices are compatible and that Bluetooth is turned on.

2. Refer to the instructions supplied with the specific game for details on how to start a two-player or multi-player session.

With the Music Player, you can listen to music tracks stored on your memory card.

Opening the Music Player:

Go to Menu -> Media -> Music Player, or press the dedicated Music Player key.

Listening to Music:

Once you open the Music Player, it will start playing tracks. You can listen through the supplied headset or the loudspeaker.

Playback Controls:

Use the controller key to highlight the on-screen control buttons and press the center of the controller to select them.

– Play/Pause

– Stop

– Previous track

– Next track

– Record

Managing Tracks:

To view your list of tracks, press Options -> Track list. From here you can play, delete, rename, or manage tracks.

Changing Settings:

To edit settings, press Options -> Settings. You can change:

– Sound style: Select an equaliser preset (Rock, Pop, Dance, etc.).

– Play options: Choose Normal, Random, or Repeat play modes.

– Extra Bass: Add more bass to the current music style.

You must have the headset connected to use the radio, as the headset lead functions as the antenna.

Opening the Radio:

Go to Menu -> Media -> Radio, or press the dedicated Radio key.

Tuning a Radio Channel:

– Automatic Tuning: Select Options -> Auto tune up or Auto tune down.

– Manual Tuning: Select Options -> Manual tuning and press the left or right controller keys to move the frequency up or down in 0.05 MHz steps.

– Direct Entry: If you know the frequency, use the keypad to enter it directly (press the star key (*) for a decimal point).

Saving a Channel:

1. Tune to the desired channel.

2. Select Options -> Save channel.

3. Scroll to a location to store the channel and press Select.

4. Type in a name for the radio station and press OK.

Recording from the Radio:

1. While listening to the radio, press the controller key to highlight the record button.

2. Press the controller key again to start recording.

3. Enter a name for the track and press OK.

You can play back your radio recordings using the Music Player.

You can use the Nokia Audio Manager software on a compatible PC to transfer music tracks to your NOKIA N-GAGE memory card.

Installing Nokia Audio Manager:

1. Before connecting the USB cable, install the software from the CD-ROM supplied with your game deck.

2. Insert the CD-ROM into your PC. The installation should launch automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Transferring Tracks with Nokia Audio Manager:

1. Connect your NOKIA N-GAGE to the PC using the supplied DKE-2 USB Mini-B Cable.

2. Open the Nokia Audio Manager software on your PC.

3. Save tracks from a CD or your hard drive into the Music Studio area of the software.

4. In the mobile device area, select the tracks or playlists you want to transfer.

5. Click “Transfer to device”.

Transferring Tracks with Windows Explorer:

You can also transfer MP3 or .AAC music files directly to the memory card.

1. Connect your NOKIA N-GAGE to the PC using the USB cable. The game deck will appear as a removable drive (Local Disk) in Windows Explorer.

2. Open a second Windows Explorer window and navigate to the folder on your PC containing the music files.

3. Drag and drop the desired music files from your PC folder into the game deck’s drive window.

Important: Allow approximately 10 seconds for each 1MB of data to be transferred. Do not interrupt the transfer or remove the cable before the process is complete.

To access settings, go to Menu -> Tools -> Settings.

1. Scroll to a setting group (e.g., Device, Standby mode, Display) and press the controller key to open it.

2. Scroll to a specific setting you want to change and press the controller key to open its options.

Some of the key settings you can change include:

Device Settings (General):

– Device language: Change the language for the display texts.

– Writing language: Change the language for text input and the predictive text dictionary.

– Dictionary: Turn predictive text input On or Off.

– Welcome note or logo: Set a custom text message or image that appears when you switch on the game deck.

Standby Mode Settings:

– Background image: Select an image to be used as wallpaper in standby mode.

– Left/Right selection key: Change the shortcut functions for the selection keys in standby mode.

Display Settings:

– Contrast: Adjust the display contrast.

– Colour palette: Change the colour scheme of the display.

– Screen saver: Set the timeout period and what is shown on the screen saver (e.g., time, date, text).

You can configure various call-related settings on your NOKIA N-GAGE.

Send my caller ID (Network Service): Choose whether your phone number is displayed (Yes) or hidden (No) when you make a call.

Call waiting (Network Service): Activate or deactivate the call waiting feature, which notifies you of an incoming call when you are already on another call.

Automatic redial: When activated, your game deck will make up to ten attempts to connect a call after an unsuccessful attempt.

Summary after call: Activate this to briefly display the duration and cost of the last call after it ends.

Speed dialling: Turn this On to enable dialling numbers by pressing and holding the assigned speed dial keys (2-9).

Anykey answer: Turn this On to answer an incoming call by pressing any key (except the power, end, and selection keys).

Line in use (Network Service): If your SIM card supports two phone lines, select which line (Line 1 or Line 2) to use for making calls and sending messages.

You need to set up an access point to connect to services like MMS, e-mail, or the internet browser. You may receive settings from your service provider, or you can enter them manually.

1. Go to Settings -> Connection -> Access points.

2. Select Options -> New access point.

3. Choose to either use default settings or use existing settings as a template.

4. Fill in the following fields as required by your service provider. Fields marked with ‘Must be defined’ or a red asterisk are mandatory.

– Connection name: A descriptive name for the connection.

– Data bearer: Choose GSM data, High speed GSM, or GPRS.

– Access point name (for GPRS): The name provided by your network operator (e.g., ‘internet’).

– Dial-up number (for GSM data): The modem telephone number for the access point.

– User name and Password: Enter if required by your service provider.

– Homepage: The address of the multimedia messaging centre or browser start page.

5. After filling in the details, press Back to save the settings.

Security Codes:

PIN code (4-8 digits): Protects your SIM card. Usually supplied with the SIM. If entered incorrectly three times, it will be blocked.

PUK code (8 digits): Personal Unblocking Key, required to unblock a blocked PIN code. If not supplied with your SIM, contact your network operator.

Lock code (5 digits): Used to lock the game deck to prevent unauthorised use. The factory default is 12345. You should change this.

PIN2 code (4-8 digits): Supplied with some SIM cards, required to access certain functions like call cost counters.

Managing Security Settings:

PIN code request: When active, the PIN code is requested each time the game deck is switched on.

Change codes: You can change the lock code, PIN code, and PIN2 code in the security settings menu.

Autolock period: Set a time-out after which the game deck automatically locks. Key in the lock code to unlock it.

Fixed dialling: Restrict outgoing calls to a pre-defined list of numbers. You need the PIN2 code for this function.

Profiles allow you to customize the tones for different events and environments. The preset profiles are General, Silent, Meeting, Outdoor, Pager, and Offline.

Changing the Active Profile:

1. Go to Menu -> Profiles.

2. Scroll to the profile you want to activate and select Options -> Activate.

A shortcut is to press the power key briefly in standby mode to open the list of profiles, then scroll to the one you want and press OK.

Customising a Profile:

1. Go to Menu -> Profiles.

2. Scroll to the profile you want to modify and select Options -> Personalise.

3. Scroll to the setting you want to change (e.g., Ringing tone, Message alert tone) and press the controller key.

You can change the following settings within a profile:

– Ringing tone

– Ringing volume

– Vibrating alert

– Message alert tone

– Keypad tones

– Warning tones

– Alert for (to ring only for calls from specific contact groups)

The Offline profile allows you to use the game deck without connecting to the GSM wireless network. This lets you play games, listen to music, and use the radio in places where phone use is prohibited, such as on an airplane.

WARNING: In Offline profile you cannot make or receive any calls, including emergency calls, or use other features that require network coverage.

Activating Offline Profile:

1. Go to Menu -> Profiles.

2. Scroll to Offline and select Options -> Activate.

3. Press Yes to confirm. The game deck will restart with the GSM radio turned off.

Leaving Offline Profile:

1. Go to Menu -> Profiles.

2. Scroll to a profile other than Offline and select Options -> Activate.

3. Press Yes. The game deck will restart and re-enable GSM transmissions.

Creating a Calendar Entry:

1. Go to Menu -> Calendar.

2. Select Options -> New entry and choose the entry type:

– Meeting: To remind you of an appointment with a specific date and time.

– Memo: To write a general entry for a day.

– Anniversary: To remind you of birthdays or special dates (repeats annually).

3. Fill in the fields (Subject, Location, Start/End time and date, etc.).

4. To set an alarm for the entry, scroll to Alarm and press the controller key to activate the alarm fields. Set the alarm time and date.

5. Press Done to save the entry.

Editing or Deleting an Entry:

In any calendar view, scroll to the entry you want to manage and press the controller key to open it for editing, or select Options -> Delete to remove it.

Viewing the Calendar:

The calendar has Month, Week, and Day views. You can switch between them using the Options menu.

Composer:

Composer allows you to create your own custom ringing tones. Go to Menu -> Media -> Composer.

1. Select Options -> New tone to open the editor.

2. Use the keys as shown in the table to add notes and rests. You can also adjust tempo, volume, and style (Legato, Staccato).

3. Press the controller key to listen to the tone. Press Stop to stop playing.

4. Press Back to save your new tone.

Recorder:

The voice recorder allows you to record voice memos and telephone conversations. Go to Menu -> Media -> Recorder.

1. Select Options -> Record sound clip.

2. Use the on-screen controls to record, pause, stop, play, fast forward, or rewind the sound clip.

Note: When recording a telephone conversation, both parties will hear a tone every five seconds. Obey all local laws governing the recording of calls.

Basic Steps for Accessing Web Services:

1. First, you need to save the browser settings. You may receive these in a smart message from your service provider, or you can enter them manually by creating a browser access point in the connection settings.

2. Go to Menu -> Media -> Services or press and hold the 0 key in standby mode.

3. Make a connection to the service. You can do this by selecting the homepage, choosing a bookmark, or typing an address in the “Go to” field.

4. Start browsing the web pages.

Browsing Commands:

– Open a link: Select the link and press the controller key.

– Scroll: Use the controller key.

– Enter text: Use the keypad.

– Go back: Press the Back key.

– Quit browsing: Press and hold the end call key.

Managing Bookmarks:

You can add, edit, send, and organize bookmarks. While browsing, select Options -> Save as bookmark to save the current page.

Downloading Content:

You can download items like ringing tones and images. Scroll to the link for the item and select Options -> Open to start the download.

Your game deck supports J2Micro Edition™ Java applications (with .JAD or .JAR file extensions).

Installing a Java Application:

Installation files can be received via e-mail, Bluetooth, or downloaded from the browser.

1. Go to Menu -> Extras -> Applications.

2. To view available installation packages, press the controller key to open the Downloaded view.

3. Scroll to an installation file and select Options -> Install.

4. Follow the on-screen prompts. The game deck will check the integrity of the package and install it.

Opening a Java Application:

In the Applications main view, scroll to an installed application and press the controller key to open it.

Uninstalling a Java Application:

In the Applications main view, select the application you want to remove and select Options -> Remove.

The Manager is used to install and remove new applications and software packages with the .SIS file extension.

Important: Only install software from sources that offer adequate protection against viruses and other harmful software.

Installing Software:

1. Transfer the .SIS installation file to your game deck. You can do this from a PC, via Bluetooth, as a multimedia message, or an e-mail attachment.

2. Go to Menu -> Tools -> Manager.

3. A list of available installation packages will be shown.

4. Scroll to the package you want to install and select Options -> Install.

5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

Removing Software:

1. In the Manager, a list of fully installed applications will be shown.

2. To remove a software package, scroll to it and select Options -> Remove.

3. Press Yes to confirm the removal.

Bluetooth enables wireless connections to other compatible devices within a range of about 10 meters.

Activating and Configuring Bluetooth:

1. Go to Menu -> Tools -> Bluetooth.

2. The first time you activate it, you will be asked to give your game deck a name.

3. In the Bluetooth settings menu, set Bluetooth to On.

4. Set My device’s visibility to Shown to all so that other devices can find your game deck.

Sending Data via Bluetooth:

1. In an application (e.g., Images, Contacts), navigate to the item you want to send.

2. Select Options -> Send -> Via Bluetooth.

3. The game deck will search for other Bluetooth devices in range. Select the device you want to send to.

Pairing with a Device:

Pairing makes future connections easier and more secure.

1. When connecting to a device for the first time, you may be asked to pair. This requires you to enter a passcode (1-16 numbers).

2. Create a passcode and ensure the owner of the other device enters the exact same passcode on their device.

3. Once paired, the device is added to your Paired devices list.

Receiving Data via Bluetooth:

When another device sends you data, a tone will sound and you will be asked to accept the message. If you accept, the item is placed in the Inbox in Messaging.

Memory Low: If you see “Not enough memory to perform operation” or “Memory low”, you need to delete some data. Regularly delete messages from the Inbox, Drafts, and Sent folders, retrieved e-mails, saved browser pages, and images. You can see memory usage by going to Tools -> Manager -> Options -> Memory details.

Game Deck Display: Q: Why do missing, discoloured, or bright dots appear on my screen? A: This is an intrinsic characteristic of the active matrix display. A small number of such dots might exist and is normal.

Bluetooth: Q: Why can I not end a Bluetooth connection? A: If another device is paired but not sending data, the only way to disconnect is to turn Bluetooth off and on again in the Bluetooth settings.

Multimedia Messaging: Q: What if I can’t receive an MMS because memory is full? A: Delete some data to free up memory. The message centre will try to send the message again automatically.

Application Not Responding: Q: How do I close an application that is not responding? A: Press and hold the Menu key to open the application switching window. Scroll to the unresponsive application and press the clear key (C) to close it.

Game is Playing Slow: Q: Why is the game I am playing slow? A: Too many applications are open. Close applications you are not using by pressing and holding the Menu key, scrolling to an app, and pressing the clear key (C).

Charging and Discharging:

Your device is powered by a rechargeable battery.

A new battery’s full performance is achieved only after two or three complete charge and discharge cycles.

When the operating time becomes noticeably shorter than normal, it is time to buy a new battery.

Use only batteries and chargers approved by the manufacturer.
