1. To remove the back cover, with the back of the device facing you, press the release button, and lift the back cover off the device.

2. Slide the battery into the slot by aligning the contacts and press until you hear the “click”.

3. Align the cover tabs with the slots on the back of the device and push down the tabs until the cover is securely in place.

Always switch the device off and disconnect the charger before removing the battery.

Use only compatible microSD cards approved by Nokia for use with this device. Your device supports microSD cards of up to 16 GB (sold separately).

Important: Do not remove the memory card in the middle of an operation when the card is being accessed. Removing the card in the middle of an operation may damage the memory card as well as the device, and data stored on the card may be corrupted.

1. Lift open the microSD Card slot.

2. Insert the microSD card with the contacts facing up. Press the microSD card until it clicks into place and then close the Card slot.

1. Open the microSD Card slot, and use your thumb to press and release the microSD Card.

2. Remove the microSD Card.

3. Close the microSD Card slot.

To power your phone on or off, swivel open the phone, and then press and hold the End/Power Key until the display powers on or off.

1. Connect the Wall Charger to an AC outlet.

2. Open the Accessory Port and connect the Wall Charger.

3. Disconnect the Wall Charger from the phone and AC outlet when the battery indicator bar stops scrolling. When the phone is fully charged, it displays a message to ask you to unplug the charger.

This guide uses certain terms for the steps that you are asked to perform.

Press refers to pressing and releasing a key quickly.

Press and hold refers to pressing and holding a key for 2-3 seconds before releasing it.

Scroll refers to using the Directional Key to scroll to a menu item.

Generally, to perform the step-by-step instructions, you must first swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad. The instructions start from Idle Mode except when specifically indicated. To go back to Idle Mode from your current working screen, press the End/Power Key.

To return to the previous screen, press the Clear Key.

From Idle Mode, to select Message or Contacts, press the Left Soft Key or the Right Soft Key. To access the main menu, press the OK Key (MENU), and scroll to the desired menu.

When a menu is highlighted, to access a submenu, press the number of the submenu, or scroll to the desired item, and press the OK Key.

To provide a visual representation of your current position in the menu structure, a scroll bar may be displayed on the right side of the screen.

This guide gives navigation instructions according to the defaults. Main Menu Settings is set to Grid. Display Themes is set to White, and Habitat Mode is set to Super World. If other settings or themes are set, navigating the phone’s menus may be different.

When you have fully charged the battery and disconnected the Wall Charger from the device, remember to unplug the charger from the AC outlet, too.

You don’t need to charge your battery so often if you:

• Turn off applications and services such as wireless LAN, Bluetooth, GPS or email when you are not using them

• Decrease the brightness of the screen of your device

• Turn off or disable sounds you don’t need, such as keypad tones. Adjust the volume of your device to an “average” level.

To view the ten-digit number assigned to your device:

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Settings & Tools.

3. Press Phone Info, and then press My Number. The Mobile Device Number and Mobile Identification Number are displayed.

Use the Keypad

Enter the phone number (including the area code if necessary) and letters (if any), and press the Send Key.

Note: To enter a letter, press and hold the Function Key and then press the corresponding key.

Use the Contact List

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the Right Soft Key (Contacts).

3. Scroll to the desired contact, and press the OK Key (VIEW) to display the details of the contact.

4. If the entry contains more than one number, scroll to the desired number.

5. Press the Send Key to call the number.

Use Speed Dial

Press and hold the corresponding speed dial key for three seconds.

To dial a multi-digit speed dialing number (10-999), press the first number(s), and then press and hold the last number.

All Calls Log

Swivel open the phone, press the Send Key and scroll to a contact.

• To dial the contact, press the Send Key.

• To view call details, press the OK Key (OPEN).

• To create a new message, press the Left Soft Key (Message).

• To select from the available options, press the Right Soft Key (Options).

To answer a call, swivel open the phone or press the Send Key.

To silence an incoming call, press the Left Soft Key (Quiet). To forward the call to your voicemail, press the Right Soft Key (Ignore).

When you are on a call, press the Right Soft Key (Options) and select from the following:

New Message – Send messages.

Contact List – Search your Contact List.

Recent Calls – Check recent calls.

Bluetooth Menu – With a Bluetooth headset connected, select Audio to Phone to hear the other party on the device, or Audio to Device to hear the other party on the Bluetooth headset.

Main Menu – Use Main Menu.

Notepad – Open the Notepad.

Voice Record – Record a phone call.

Voice Privacy – Select whether to protect the privacy of the conversation.

To use the speakerphone, swivel open the phone and press the Speakerphone Key. SPEAKERPHONE SET will appear on the main screen.

To deactivate the speakerphone, press the Speakerphone Key again. SPEAKERPHONE CANCELED will appear on the main screen.

Warning: Do not hold the device near your ear when the speaker is in use, because the volume may be extremely loud.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Recent Calls.

3. Scroll to the call category folder (Missed, Received, Dialed, Blocked, or All), and press the OK Key to view the call log. The Blocked folder is only available when Block All or Contacts Only is set to incoming calls.

4. In each call category folder, scroll to the desired call record, press the OK Key (OPEN) to view details, press the Left Soft Key (Message) to create a new message, or press the Right Soft Key (Options) and select from the available options to perform the corresponding operations.

Call timers record the time of incoming and outgoing calls as well as the volume of data transferred and received.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Recent Calls.

3. Press View Timers.

• To return to the previous screen, press the Clear Key.

• To reset a timer, scroll to the desired timer, and press the Left Soft Key (Reset).

• To reset all timers, press the Right Soft Key (Reset All).

Note: Some timers, including the life timer, may be reset during service or software upgrades.

There are five text entry modes: Word, Abc, ABC, 123, and Symbols. The following rules apply:

• To delete a character, press the Backspace Key; to delete a word, press and hold the Backspace Key.

• To enter a space, or to accept a completed word in Word Mode, press the Space Key.

• To toggle between lower case, sentence case, and upper case in Word, Abc, or ABC Mode, press the Shift Key. To toggle between Word, Abc, and 123 Modes, press and hold the Shift Key.

• To enable number and symbol entry in Word, Abc, or ABC Mode, press and hold the Function Key and press the corresponding key on the keypad.

• To change the mode, press the Left Soft Key.

Abc and ABC Modes

In Abc and ABC Modes, to enter a letter, press the corresponding key.

Word Mode

Word Mode is a predictive text entry method that is based on a built-in dictionary.

1. To activate Word Mode, press the Left Soft Key, scroll to Word, and press the OK Key.

2. Enter the first few letters of your word with the keypad.

3. To display proposed matches, press the Next Key until the appropriate word is displayed.

4. When the desired word is displayed, press the Space Key to confirm and insert a space.

5. If the desired word is not found in the dictionary, delete your entry, and re-enter the word. Press the Space Key to confirm and save the new word to the dictionary.

Number Entry

• To enter a number in Abc, ABC, or Word Mode, press and hold the desired number key.

• To enable number entry in Abc, ABC, or Word Mode, press and hold the Function Key, and press the corresponding key.

Symbol Entry

• To enter a symbol, press the Symbols Key, scroll to the desired symbol, and press the OK Key.

• To enable symbol entry in Abc, ABC, or Word Mode, press and hold the Function Key, and press the corresponding key.

Quick Text

To insert quick text into your message, press the Right Soft Key (Options), scroll to Insert Quick Text, and press the OK Key. Select the desired text from the list, and press the OK Key.

2. From Idle Mode, press the Music Key to open My Music.

3. Select a playlist or songs to play.

4. To play music in the background, press the End/Power Key.

To exit the background music, from Idle Mode, press and hold the End/Power Key. A message “Stop playing music?” displays on-screen. Press the OK Key to select Yes.

When the device is in Idle Mode and the background music is playing, you can perform following actions:

• To launch the Music Player in foreground, press the Music Key.

• To pause or resume music, press and hold the Function Key and then press the Music Key.

When an application is running and the background music is playing, you can perform following actions:

• To skip to the next song, press the Music Key.

• To pause or resume music, press and hold the Function Key and then press the Music Key.

Create Playlists on Your Wireless Device

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the Music Key to open My Music.

3. Select Playlists and press the OK Key.

4. Enter a title for the playlist in the text box and press the OK Key.

5. Highlight the song you want to add and press the OK Key (Mark). Repeat this step until you have marked all of the songs you want in your playlist.

6. Press the Right Soft Key (Done).

Edit Playlists on Your Wireless Device

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the Music Key to open My Music.

3. Select Playlists and press the OK Key.

4. Highlight the playlist you want to edit and press the Right Soft Key (Options). Select Edit Playlist and press the OK Key.

5. Press the Right Soft Key (Add) to add a song to the playlist. To move or delete a song in the playlist, press the Directional Key up and down to highlight the song you want to move or delete, then press the OK Key (Move) to move the song or press the Left Soft Key (Remove) to delete the song from the playlist.

3. Select Songs and press the OK Key.

4. Highlight the song you want to delete and press the Right Soft Key (Options). Select Erase song and press the OK Key. With Yes highlighted, press the OK Key.

3. Press Music & Tones, and then press My Sounds.

• To record sound clips, press Record New, and then press the OK Key to start recording. To finish recording, press the OK Key (STOP). The recording is saved to My Sounds.

• To play a sound clip, scroll to a sound clip, and press the OK Key (PLAY).

• To set a self-recorded sound clip as a ringtone, contact ID, or alert sound, scroll to the sound clip, and press the Left Soft Key (Set As). Select the desired option and press the OK Key to set.

To access other options, press the Right Soft Key (Options), and select from the following:

Send – Send the highlighted sound in a picture message.

To Online Album – Upload the highlighted sound to an online album.

Rename – Rename the highlighted sound, enter a new name, and select the OK Key to save (only for self-recorded sounds).

Move – Move a sound to the inserted memory card (only for self-recorded sounds).

Lock – Protect a sound from being erased (only for self-recorded sounds).

Erase – Erase a sound clip stored in the device (only for self-recorded sounds).

Erase All – Erase all sound clips stored in the device (only for self-recorded sounds).

File Info – View file information about the highlighted sound.

View and Edit a Picture

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Media Center.

3. Press Picture & Video, and then press My Pictures.

4. Scroll to a picture, and press the OK Key (VIEW).

5. To edit the picture, press the Right Soft Key (Options), and press Edit. If the resolution is larger than 640*480, the picture is saved as a copy at a lower resolution.

Delete a Picture

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Media Center.

3. Press Picture & Video, and then press My Pictures.

4. Scroll to a picture, and press the Left Soft Key (Erase). You cannot delete preloaded pictures.

Other Options

Scroll to a picture, press the Right Soft Key (Options), and select from the following:

• Send: Send the picture in a picture message, send to an online album or a blog, or using Bluetooth connectivity.

• Set As: Set a picture as your wallpaper or picture ID for a contact.

• Take Picture: Take a picture with the built-in camera.

• Get New Pictures: Get new pictures or use one of the applications to download pictures.

• Manage My Pics: View, move, lock, and use pictures (only for self-taken pictures).

• My Slide Shows: Add or view a slide show of your pictures. Only pictures in the JPEG format can be added to a slide show.

• Rename: Rename a picture (only for self-taken pictures).

• Move: Move a picture to the inserted memory card (only for self-taken pictures).

• Lock: Protect a picture from being erased (only for self-taken pictures).

• Erase All: Delete all pictures stored in the device or the card (only for self-taken pictures).

• File Info: View file information of the highlighted picture.

• Print Via Bluetooth: Send a picture to a Bluetooth enabled printer using Bluetooth connectivity (only for self-taken pictures).

Take Pictures

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. To activate the camera, press the Camera/Video Key.

3. To take a picture and save it to My Pictures, press the OK Key (TAKE), and then press the Left Soft Key (Save).

To adjust the picture quality, press the Camera Key, press the Right Soft Key (Options), and select from:

• Resolution: Select 2048 x 1536, 1280 x 960, 800 x 600, 640 x 480, or 320 x 240.

• Self Timer: Select Off, 3 seconds, 5 seconds, or 10 seconds.

• Flash: Select Off, On, or Only This Shot.

• Brightness: Press the Directional Key left or right.

• White Balance: Press the Directional Key left or right to select Auto, Sunny, Cloudy, Tungsten, or Fluorescent.

• Shutter Sound: Select Shutter, Silent, Say “Cheez”, or Ready! 1 2 3.

• Color Effects: Press the Directional Key left or right to select Normal, Antique, Black & White, or Negative.

• Capture Mode: Select Landscape or Portrait.

• Auto Focus: Select Off or On.

Record Video

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. To activate the camcorder, press and hold the Camera/Video Key.

3. To record a video clip and save it to My Videos, press the OK Key (REC), press the OK Key (STOP), and then press the Left Soft key (Save).

Add a New Slide Show

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. To access Online Album and upload pictures, press the OK Key (MENU), and press Media Center.

3. Press Picture & Video, and then press My Slide Shows.

4. To add a new slide show, press the Left Soft Key (New).

5. A message prompts that only some picture formats can be displayed in a slide show. Select Remind Me Later or Don’t show again and press the OK Key.

6. Select a picture, press the OK Key (MARK).

7. Repeat step 6 until all the desired pictures are marked, and then press the Left Soft Key (Done).

8. Enter the name of the slide show and press the OK Key (SAVE). A confirmation message appears.

Play a Slide Show

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Media Center.

3. Press Picture & Video, and then press My Slide Shows.

4. To play a slide show, press the Directional Key up or down to select the desired slide show, and then press the OK Key (PLAY).

While downloading an application, calls are automatically sent to your voicemail, if available. When using an application, an incoming call automatically interrupts the application and allows you to answer the call. When you complete your call, you can resume the application.

You can end your data connection to make an emergency call.

1. With the phone swiveled open, close your connection by pressing the End/Power Key as many times as needed to clear the display and get the device ready for calls.

2. Dial 911 for emergency calls.

3. Press the Send Key.

3. To write a new text message, press New Message, and then press TXT Message.

4. In the To: field, enter the number, or press the Right Soft Key (Add), select From Contacts, and then select a recipient from the Contact List.

5. To move to the Text: field, press the OK Key or press the Directional Key down. Compose a message using the keypad.

6. To send the message, press the OK Key (SEND).

Tip: From Idle Mode, to quickly create a new text message, press the TXT Composer Key.

To customize a new text message, press the Right Soft Key (Options) when the cursor is in the Text: field, and select from the following:

Insert Quick Text – Insert text from the Insert Quick Text gallery into your document.

Save As Draft – Save your message in the Drafts folder.

Add – Include a graphic, sound clip, name card, signature (if preset to add for a specific message), or add contact information in your message.

Priority Level – Set the priority level. Select High, or Normal. If set to high, “URGENT” appears at the top of receiver’s message.

Cancel Message – Close the message without sending it. To save it in the Drafts folder, select Yes. To delete the message and exit, select No.

3. To write a new message, press New Message, and then press Picture Message, Video Message or Voice Message.

4. In the To: field, enter the number, or press the Right Soft Key (Add), select From Contacts, and then select a recipient from the Contact List.

5. To move to the Text: field, press the OK Key or press the Directional Key down. Compose a message using the keypad.

6. Add multimedia contents.

• Picture message: To add a picture, scroll down to the Picture: field. Press the Left Soft Key (My Pics), scroll to the desired picture, and press the OK Key. To add a new picture using the camera, press the Left Soft Key (My Pics), press the Right Soft Key (Options), press Take Picture, press the OK Key (TAKE), and press the Left Soft Key (Save). Press the Left Soft Key (My Pics), select the picture just taken, and press the OK Key.

• Video message: To add a video clip, scroll down to the Video: field. Press the Left Soft Key (My Videos), scroll to the desired video clip, and press the OK Key.

• Voice message: To add a new sound clip to a voice message, press the OK Key to begin recording, and press the OK Key (STOP) to end recording. The recorded sound clip is attached in the Voice: field.

7. To add a name card in a picture message or voice message, scroll down to the Name Card field, press the Left Soft Key (Contacts), and then press Contacts. Select the desired contacts by pressing the OK Key (MARK). When finished adding contacts, press the Left Soft Key (Done).

8. To add a message title, scroll down to the Subject: field. Enter text (up to 80 characters) using the keypad.

9. To send the message, press the OK Key (SEND).

Receive a Voicemail Message

When you receive a new voicemail message, the device displays a voicemail notification.

1. Scroll to Listen Now or Listen Later.

2. Press the OK Key.

Listen to a Voicemail Message

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Messaging.

3. Press Voicemail, and press the OK Key (CALL) to dial your voicemail service and retrieve your message.

Tip: To quickly dial your voicemail box from Idle Mode, press and hold 1.

4. To define message settings, select from the following:

Messages View – Select whether to view messages By Time or By Contact.

Entry Mode – Change the Default Entry mode for writing text to Word, Abc, ABC or 123. The default entry mode is Abc.

Auto Save Sent – Select whether to automatically save all sent messages to the Sent folder. To be asked every time to save a sent message, select Prompt.

Auto Erase Inbox – Select whether to automatically erase the oldest (unlocked) message from the Inbox folder when the device memory is full. If set to Off, you are prompted to delete messages from your Inbox folder when the memory is full.

Messaging Font Size – Select Normal or Large for the character size of messages.

TXT Auto View – Select whether to display incoming text messages automatically. If set to Off, it will display a prompt message to select View Now or View Later when a message is received.

Pic-Video Auto Receive – Select whether to save incoming picture and video messages automatically. If set to Off, you can select Reject to refuse to receive the message.

Quick Text – View and edit Quick Text entries, which are short, prewritten messages that can be recalled and inserted into a message.

Voicemail # – Change the default speed dialing number for voicemail.

Callback # – Change the default callback number.

Signature – Create or edit text that is appended to each outgoing message.

3. To enter the contact information, press New Contact.

4. Scroll to the desired field, and enter the corresponding information.

• To add the name of the contact, scroll to the Name: field, enter a name, and press the OK Key (SAVE).

• To add the primary mobile phone number, scroll to the Mobile 1: field, and enter a number.

• To add the home phone number, scroll to the Home: field, and enter a number.

• To add the business phone number, scroll to the Work: field, and enter a number.

• To add the primary email address, scroll to the Email 1: field, and enter an email address.

• To add a contact to a group, scroll to the Group: field, and press the Left Soft Key (Set). Scroll to the desired group, and press the OK Key.

• To assign a picture ID, scroll to the Picture: field, and press the Left Soft Key (Set). To use an existing image, scroll to the desired image in the My Pictures folder, and press the OK Key.

• To assign a ringtone, scroll to the Ringtone: field, and press the Left Soft Key (Set). Scroll to the desired ringtone, and press the OK Key.

• To add other information like a secondary mobile number, IM screen name, fax number, secondary email, address, or light color, scroll to the respective fields and enter the information.

5. Press the OK Key (SAVE).

Create a New Group

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Contacts.

3. Press Groups.

4. To add a new group, press the Left Soft Key (New), enter a name, and press the OK Key (SAVE).

Move a Contact Entry to a Group

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Contacts.

3. Press Groups.

4. Scroll to the desired group, press the Right Soft Key (Options), select Add, and press the OK Key.

5. Scroll to the desired contact, and then press the OK Key (MARK).

6. Repeat the previous step until all the desired contacts are marked, and then press the Left Soft Key (Done).

Rename a Group

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Contacts.

3. Press Groups.

4. Scroll to the group you want to rename (except the default groups), and press the Right Soft Key (Options).

5. Press Rename, edit the caller group name, and press the OK Key (SAVE).

Erase a Group

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Contacts.

3. Press Groups.

4. Scroll to the group you want to erase (except the default groups), and press the Right Soft Key (Options).

5. Press Erase Group, and press the OK Key to select Yes.

Assign a Speed Dial Location

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Contacts.

3. Press Speed Dials.

4. Scroll to an unassigned speed dial location, and press the OK Key (SET).

5. To select a contact entry, scroll to the desired contact, and press the OK Key.

6. To select a number for speed dial for a contact with more than one number, scroll to the desired number, and press the OK Key.

7. Press the OK Key to select Yes.

Edit a Speed Dial Location

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Contacts.

3. Press Speed Dials.

4. Scroll to an assigned speed dial slot, and press the OK Key (SET).

5. Press the OK Key to select Yes to overwrite the existing speed dial number.

6. Scroll to the contact you want assigned and press the OK Key.

7. Press the OK Key to select Yes and set the speed dial number to the new contact.

Remove a Speed Dial Location

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Contacts.

3. Press Speed Dials.

4. Scroll to an assigned speed dial slot, and press the Right Soft Key (Remove).

5. Press the OK Key to select Yes.

Add a New ICE Contact

You can set up to three contacts as your ICE contacts. You can call ICE contacts even if your device is locked.

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Contacts.

3. Press In Case of Emergency.

4. Scroll to an unassigned contact, press the OK Key (ADD).

• If From Contacts is selected, scroll to a contact, and press the OK Key.

• If New Contact is selected, enter the contact information, and press the OK Key (SAVE).

Add Personal Information

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Contacts.

3. Press In Case of Emergency, scroll to Personal Info, and press the OK Key (VIEW).

4. Scroll to a blank note, and press the OK Key (ADD).

5. After adding the information, press the OK Key (SAVE) to retain it, or press the Right Soft Key (Cancel) to exit.

Apply a Ringtone

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press My Ringtones.

3. Scroll to a ringtone, and press the Left Soft Key (Set As).

• To set it as your default ringtone, press Ringtone.

• To set it as a contact ID for a particular contact, press Contact ID. Select the desired contact, and press the OK Key.

• To set it as alert sounds for incoming messages, press Alert Sounds. Select All Messages, TXT Message, Pic/Video/ Voice Message or Voicemail, and press the OK Key.

Play a Ringtone

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press My Ringtones.

3. Scroll to a ringtone, and press the OK Key (PLAY).

Activate or Deactivate Bluetooth Connectivity

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Settings & Tools.

3. Press Bluetooth Menu.

4. Press the Left Soft Key (Turn On/Turn Off) to activate or deactivate Bluetooth connectivity.

Pair with a device

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Settings & Tools.

3. Press Bluetooth Menu. You are prompted to launch the Bluetooth Wizard.

4. Press Yes to launch the Bluetooth Wizard, Remind me later, or No, don’t show again.

5. The handset will prompt you to put the other device in discoverable mode. Press the OK Key.

6. Your device will search for Bluetooth devices and display a list. Press down on the Directional Key to highlight the device you want to pair with, and then press the OK Key (PAIR).

7. If applicable, enter the passkey (typically 0000), then press the OK Key.

8. Select Always Ask or Always Connect and press the OK Key. A confirmation will appear, select Yes or No and press the OK Key.

Easy Set-up

1. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

2. Press the OK Key (MENU), and press Settings & Tools.

3. Press Sound Settings, press Easy Set-up, and then select from the following:

• CALL SOUNDS – Set the alert type for an incoming call.

• KEYPAD VOLUME – Set the volume of the keypad.

• TEXT MESSAGE ALERT – Set the alert type for an incoming text message.

• PIC/VIDEO/VOICE MESSAGE ALERT – Set the alert type for an incoming picture or voice message.

• VOICEMAIL MESSAGE ALERT – Set the alert type for an incoming voicemail message.

Call Sounds: Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Sound Settings > Call Sounds to set ringtones, vibration, and caller ID alerts.

Alert Sounds: Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Sound Settings > Alert Sounds to select alert types for various messages and tones.

Keypad Volume: Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Sound Settings > Keypad Volume to set the volume for the keypad.

Service Alerts: Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Sound Settings > Service Alerts to manage alerts for roaming (ERI), minute beeps, and call connection.

Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Display Settings. From here you can adjust:

• Easy Set-up: Quickly set banner, backlight, wallpaper, themes, menu layout, dial fonts, and clock format.

• Banner: Create a personalized greeting or display the ERI Banner.

• Backlight: Set how long the display or keypad backlight remains on.

• Wallpaper: Select an image, video, or Habitat Mode theme as the background.

• Display Themes: Choose a theme for the display.

• Main Menu Settings: Change the menu layout (Tab, List, Grid), and replace or reposition menu items.

• Dial Fonts: Choose Normal or Large Only.

• Menu Font Size: Choose Normal or Large.

• Clock Settings: Choose clock format (analog/digital), set a screensaver, and choose if the clock displays when powered off.

Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings. From here you can manage:

• Airplane Mode: Turn On or Off to disable network connectivity.

• Set Shortcuts: Assign applications to the Directional Keys.

• Voice Settings: Configure voice command options like confirmation choices, sensitivity, and voice training.

• Phone Close Handling: Choose what happens when the phone is swiveled closed.

• Swivel Auto Lock: Set the phone to lock automatically when swiveled.

• Language: Set the display language to English or Spanish.

• Location: Set GPS to Location On or E911 Only.

• Security: Edit lock codes, set restrictions, lock the phone, or restore to factory settings.

Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Call Settings. From here you can manage:

• Answer Options: Define how calls are answered (e.g., Swivel Open).

• Text Response: Send a preset text message when you can’t answer a call.

• Auto Retry: Set the phone to automatically redial a number if you get a busy signal.

• TTY Mode: Enable teletype/telecommunication device for the deaf support.

• HAC Mode: Improve compatibility with hearing aids.

• One Touch Dial: Enable or disable press-and-hold speed dialing.

• Voice Privacy: Protect your conversation from eavesdropping on the CDMA network.

• DTMF Tones: Set the length of touch tones (Normal or Long).

• Assisted Dialing: Helps with international dialing while roaming.

Memory

Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Memory. From here you can:

• Save Options: Select whether to save to the phone or card memory.

• Phone Memory: Display the total used and available memory on the phone.

• Card Memory: Display the total used and available memory on the memory card.

USB Mode

Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > USB Mode. Select from:

• Media Sync Mode: Transfer multimedia files between your device and PC.

• Modem Mode: Establish a modem connection.

• Ask On Plug: The device asks for the USB Mode each time the USB cable is connected.

Tip: To quickly access Voice Commands from Idle Mode, press the Voice Commands Key.

Alternatively, go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > Voice Commands.

You can use the following commands:

• Call <Name or #> – Say “Call” and then a name or a phone number from your Contact List. For example, “Call Tom Smith”.

• Send <MSG Type> – Say “Send Message” and you are asked for the type of message. After choosing the message type, you are asked for the contact name or number.

• Go To <Shortcut> – Say “Go To” to open the list of shortcut options on your device and select the shortcut you want. Or say a full command with the application name (for example, “Go To Contacts”).

• Check <Item> – Say “Check” and you are asked for a list of items. Or say “Check status” to hear status information of your device.

• Contact <Name> – Say “Contact” and then a name from your Contact List to view information of the saved contact.

• Redial – Say “Redial” to call the last dialed number.

• Play <Playlist> – Say “Play All Songs” or say “Play” and then an individual playlist to play your songs.

• My Verizon – Say “My Verizon” to access your account information.

• Help – Say “Help” to see instructions on how to use these commands.

Calculator

1. Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > Calculator > Basic Calculator.

2. Enter the first number. Use the # key for a decimal point.

3. Use the Directional Key to add (UP), subtract (DOWN), multiply (RIGHT), or divide (LEFT).

4. Enter the second number.

5. Press the = Key to solve.

Tip Calculator

1. Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > Calculator > Tip Calculator.

2. Enter the amount of your bill.

3. Scroll down, and enter the tip percentage by pressing the Directional Key left or right.

4. Scroll to the Split field, and enter the number of parties by pressing the Directional Key left or right.

Converter

1. Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > Calculator > Converter.

2. Press the Right Soft Key (Options) and select ‘Set conversion’ to choose Temperature, Currency, Weight, Length, Area, Volume or Other.

3. Enter a value to convert and press the OK Key.

Add a New Event

1. Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > Calendar.

2. Scroll to the required event date, press the Left Soft Key (Add).

3. Update the event title, start/end date and time, time zone, recurrence, tone, vibration, alert time, and reminder.

4. Press the OK Key (SAVE) to save the event.

Delete an Existing Event

1. Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > Calendar.

2. Scroll to the event date, and press the OK Key (VIEW).

3. Press the Left Soft Key (Erase), and then press the OK Key to select Yes.

Update an Existing Event

1. Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > Calendar.

2. Scroll to the event date, and press the OK Key (VIEW).

3. Scroll to the event entry you want to modify, and press the OK Key (VIEW) again.

4. Press the OK Key (EDIT), edit the event fields, and press the OK Key (SAVE).

1. Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > Alarm Clock.

2. Scroll to Alarm 1, Alarm 2, or Alarm 3, and press the OK Key.

3. Scroll left or right to activate the alarm in the Set on/Set off field.

4. To enter the time, scroll to the Set Time field, enter a time using the keypad and select AM or PM.

5. To set how often the alarm will occur, scroll to the Frequency field and select an interval.

6. To select a ringtone, scroll to the Ringer field and select a tone.

7. Press the OK Key (SAVE).

When an alarm time is reached, select Snooze to have it sound again in 10 minutes, or select Dismiss to turn it off.

1. Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > Stopwatch.

2. Press the OK Key (START) to start the timer.

3. Press the Left Soft Key (Split) to time multiple events (lap times).

4. Press the OK Key (STOP) to stop the watch.

5. Press the Right Soft Key (Reset) to reset the watch to zero.

1. Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > World Clock.

2. The world map is displayed.

• To display the time of a city, scroll left or right on the world map to the desired city.

• To view a list of cities, press the Right Soft Key (Cities).

• To turn daylight savings time On or Off for a city, select the city and press the Left Soft Key (Set DST). Select Yes or No, and press the OK Key.

3. Press the OK Key to exit.

Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > Notepad.

• To add a note, press the Left Soft Key (New). Enter text, and press the OK Key (SAVE).

• To view a note, scroll to it, and press the OK Key (VIEW).

• To edit a note, scroll to it, press the OK Key (VIEW), and press the OK Key (EDIT).

• To delete a note, scroll to it, press the Right Soft Key (Options), select Erase or Erase All, and press the OK Key.

To use USB mass storage, you must first ensure USB Mode is set to Media Sync Mode. A memory card must be inserted.

1. Connect your device to your PC via the USB cable (sold separately).

2. Swivel open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keypad.

3. Go to Menu > Settings & Tools > Tools > USB Mass Storage.

4. “USB MASS STORAGE Connected” is displayed. You may now transfer files between your PC and your device.

• Keep the device dry. If it gets wet, remove the battery, and allow it to dry completely before replacing it.

• Do not use or store the device in dusty, dirty areas.

• Do not store the device in hot areas. High temperatures can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and warp or melt plastics.

• Do not store the device in cold areas. Moisture can form inside and damage circuit boards.

• Do not attempt to open the device other than as instructed in this guide.

• Do not drop, knock, or shake the device.

• Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the device.

• Do not paint the device.

• Use a soft, clean, dry cloth to clean any lenses, such as camera, proximity sensor, and light sensor lenses.

• Use only the supplied or an approved replacement antenna.

• Use chargers indoors.

• Always create a backup of data you want to keep, such as contacts and calendar notes.

• To reset the device from time to time for optimum performance, power off the device and remove the battery.
