What does it mean if your phone displays “Not charging, charging is suspended”?

Check that the battery is connected to an approved charging device. If the battery is very hot or cold, wait for a while.

Do not attempt to extend or remove the fixed-length antenna. Also, do not touch the antenna unnecessarily.

When the charge indicators stop scrolling, your phone is considered fully charged. However, a slight increase in charge may occur if you leave your phone connected to the charger.

When is a good time to charge?

You can charge anytime, but remember that when your phone displays Battery low, you only have a couple of minutes of talk time left.

How do you discharge NiMH batteries for good operation times?

Discharge NiMH batteries from time to time by leaving your phone switched on until it turns itself off or by using the battery discharge facility of any approved accessory available for your phone. Do not attempt to discharge the battery by any other means.

How do you remove the battery?

  1. Switch off the phone before removing the battery!
  2. Press and hold the button at the top of the battery.
  3. Slide the battery toward the bottom of the phone.
  4. Lift the battery off the phone.

What is important to know about a new battery?

A new battery’s full performance is achieved only after two or three complete charge and discharge cycles.

How many times can a battery be charged and discharged?

The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times but it will eventually wear out. When the operating time (talk time and standby time) is noticeably shorter than normal, it is time to buy a new battery.

What kind of batteries and chargers should be used?

Use only batteries approved by the phone manufacturer and recharge your battery only with the chargers approved by the manufacturer.

What should you do when a charger is not in use?

When a charger is not in use, disconnect it from the power source. Do not leave the battery connected to a charger for longer than a week, since overcharging may shorten its life. If left unused a fully charged battery will discharge itself over time.

(NiMH batteries only) How should you discharge the battery for good operation times?

For good operation times, discharge the battery from time to time by leaving your phone switched on until it turns itself off or by using the battery discharge facility of any approved accessory available for your phone. Do not attempt to discharge the battery by any other means.

What can affect the ability of your battery to charge?

Temperature extremes will affect the ability of your battery to charge: allow it to cool down or warm up first.

What should you use the battery for?

Use the battery only for its intended purpose.

What should you never use?

Never use any charger or battery which is damaged or worn out.

What should you not do to the battery?

Do not short circuit the battery. Accidental short circuiting can occur when a metallic object (coin, clip, or pen) causes direct connection of the + and – terminals of the battery (metal strips on the back of the battery), for example when you carry a spare battery in your pocket or purse. Short circuiting the terminals may damage the battery or the connecting object.

What reduces the capacity and lifetime of the battery?

Leaving the battery in hot or cold places, such as in a closed car in summer or winter conditions, will reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery. Always try to keep the battery between 59º F and 77º F (15º C and 25º C). A phone with a hot or cold battery may temporarily not work, even when the battery is fully charged. NiMH batteries’ performance is particularly limited in temperatures below 14º F (-10º C). Li-Ion batteries’ performance is particularly limited in temperatures below 32º F (0º C).

Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions accepted by the FCC with the phone transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands.

Is the actual SAR level of the phone while operating always at the maximum value?

No, the actual SAR level of the phone while operating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the phone is designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the power required to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the power output.

What should I do to fulfill any warranty obligations and allow me to enjoy the product for many years?

  • Keep it and all its parts and accessories out of small children’s reach.
  • Keep it dry. Precipitation, humidity and liquids contain minerals that will corrode electronic circuits.
  • Do not use or store it in dusty, dirty areas as its moving parts can be damaged.
  • Do not store it in hot areas. High temperatures can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and warp or melt certain plastics.
  • Do not store it in cold areas. When the phone warms up (to its normal operating temperature), moisture can form inside the phone, which may damage the phone’s electronic circuit boards.
  • Do not attempt to open it. Non-expert handling of the device may damage it.
  • Do not drop, knock or shake it. Rough handling can break internal circuit boards.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean it. Wipe it with a soft cloth slightly dampened in a mild soap-and-water solution.
  • Do not paint it. Paint can clog the device’s moving parts and prevent proper operation.
  • Use only the supplied or an approved replacement antenna. Unauthorized antennas, modifications or attachments could damage the phone and may violate regulations governing radio devices.
  • If the phone, battery, charger, or any accessory is not working properly, take it to your nearest qualified service facility. The personnel there will assist you, and if necessary, arrange for service.
