Before initiating your KOGAN SMARTERHOME KASHPAC12YB, please follow these steps:

1. To avoid damage, place the unit in an upright position for at least 24 hours before initiation.

2. Make sure that the air outlet and air inlet are never blocked.

3. Only operate the unit on a horizontal surface to ensure no water leaks out.

Please adhere to the following safety instructions when using your KOGAN SMARTERHOME KASHPAC12YB:

• This appliance is intended for household use only, indoors and in a dry environment.

• Check the voltage specification on the rating plate and connect the appliance only to sockets that correspond to the voltage.

• For optimal performance, this appliance is best suited for rooms larger than 10m².

• Never insert your fingers or other objects into the ventilation openings. Ensure children are warned not to do this.

• Always turn off and unplug the appliance before cleaning or moving it.

• To avoid the risk of fire, do not cover the appliance.

• Do not overload the power outlet by operating the appliance simultaneously with too many other powerful electrical appliances.

The KOGAN SMARTERHOME KASHPAC12YB contains approximately 205g of R290 flammable refrigerant gas. Please observe the following warnings:

• DANGER: It is hazardous for anyone other than an authorised service person to service this appliance. In Queensland, the authorised service person MUST hold a Gas Work Authorisation for hydrocarbon refrigerants to carry out servicing or repairs which involve the removal of covers.

• Any person working on or breaking into a refrigerant circuit should hold a current valid certificate from an industry-accredited assessment authority.

• Keep any required ventilation openings clear of obstruction.

• Do not pierce or burn the appliance.

• Never store the appliance in a room with permanent sources of ignition (e.g., open flames, a switched-on gas appliance, or an electric heater).

• Do not perforate any components in the refrigerant circuit. Refrigerant gas may be odourless.

• The air conditioning system must be kept and transported upright. Leave the unit for at least 24 hours before operation to prevent compressor damage.

• Repairs may only be carried out by the manufacturer or an authorised specialist company.

Do not use the KOGAN SMARTERHOME KASHPAC12YB in the following areas:

• Near heat sources.

• In areas where oil can splash.

• In areas exposed to direct sunlight.

• In areas where splash water can occur.

• Near bathtubs, in washrooms, near showers or swimming pools.

In case of damage to the KOGAN SMARTERHOME KASHPAC12YB or its power cord, cease use immediately, turn off the power, and unplug the power cord. Do not use the appliance again until it has been approved by a representative of Kogan. The power cord must be securely earthed. If the cord is damaged, a replacement must be arranged by Kogan. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.

For proper installation of your KOGAN SMARTERHOME KASHPAC12YB:

• Place the appliance on a level surface near a window.

• For adequate air circulation and optimum performance, the appliance should be placed at least 50 cm away from walls and objects.

When installing the exhaust hose, keep the following in mind:

• It is important to keep the exhaust hose straight, as incorrect installation will affect the operation of the appliance.

• Make sure the exhaust hose is not kinked, twisted, or strongly bent.

• Ensure that the exhaust air can flow unhindered through the exhaust hose.

• The exhaust air hose has a maximum length of 1.50 m. Keep the distance between the window and the appliance as short as possible and install the exhaust air hose as horizontally as possible.

Note: The exhaust air hose is specially designed for this appliance. Do not replace or modify the hose.

Follow these steps to install the window ventilation kit:

1. Measure the size of your window. Adjust the length of the window sealing plate to fit the window.

2. Mount the window seal on the window.

3. Attach the exhaust pipe assembly (exhaust fitting end) to the hot air outlet at the rear of the appliance by turning it counter-clockwise.

4. Slide the exhaust air assembly (the exhaust air hose adapter) into the opening of the window sealing panel and screw it tight.

Note: The adjustable minimum length of the window sealing plate is 950mm, and the maximum length is 1270mm.

The control panel on your KOGAN SMARTERHOME KASHPAC12YB has the following functions:

• POWER button: Press to switch the air conditioning on and off.

• MODE button: Press to select COOL (cooling), FAN, or DRY (dehumidification) mode. Press and hold for 3 seconds to turn off the display.

• TEMP/TIME – Temperature and time adjusting buttons (+ and -): In cooling mode, press to increase or decrease temperature. In timer mode, press to set the ON/OFF time. Press both simultaneously to toggle between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).

• FAN – Speed button: Press to set high, medium, or low speed. Hold for 3 seconds to enter Wi-Fi pairing mode.

• TIMER button: Press in standby mode to set the start time. Press during operation to set the end time.

• Temperature/time display window: Displays the set temperature and time.

The remote control for your KOGAN SMARTERHOME KASHPAC12YB has the following functions:

• Temperature/time display window: Displays the set temperature and time.

• POWER button: Press to switch the air conditioning on and off.

• MODE button: Selects COOL, FAN, or DRY mode.

• UP button (▲): Increases temperature in cooling mode or raises the ON/OFF time in timer mode.

• DOWN button (▼): Decreases temperature in cooling mode or lowers the ON/OFF time in timer mode.

• FAN – Speed button: Sets the fan speed to high, medium, or low.

• Temperature unit switch button (°C-°F): Toggles between degrees Celsius (°C) and degrees Fahrenheit (°F).

• SWING button: Sets the swing function.

• TIMER button: Sets the start time (in standby) or end time (during operation).

Follow these steps to install the batteries:

1. Slide the battery cover on the back of the remote control.

2. Insert the x2 supplied AAA (DC 1.5 V) batteries, ensuring the polarity (+/-) is correct.

3. Slide the battery cover back into place.

Note: Only use AAA (DC 1.5 V) batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries. Always replace both batteries simultaneously and do not mix old and new batteries. If the remote is not used for a long time, remove the batteries.

WARNING: Do not use batteries that leak. If battery fluid splashes on skin or clothing, wash it off immediately with clean water. If batteries are accidentally swallowed, immediately rinse your mouth with clean water and contact a hospital for a medical examination.

After switching on the appliance, the cooling mode is set as standard.

• When the cooling mode is selected, the COOL indicator lights up.

• Press the + and – (Up and Down) buttons to set a temperature between 16°C and 30°C.

• Press the FAN button to set one of the speed modes HIGH, MID, and LOW.

• After the fan mode is selected with the remote control, the wind indicator lights up.

• Press the FAN button to set one of the speed modes HIGH, MID, and LOW.

• The temperature cannot be set in this mode.

• When the dehumidification mode (DRY) is selected, the DRY indicator lights up.

• Remove the water plug on the back, insert the water pipe, and plug the other end into a water tank or drain.

• In this mode, the fan automatically switches to a low speed. The fan speed and temperature cannot be adjusted.

• The compressor starts when the room temperature is above 17°C and shuts off when it is 15°C or lower. It restarts automatically after a 3-minute pause if the temperature rises above 17°C.

Note: It is recommended to remove the exhaust air hose in dehumidification mode. Otherwise, dehumidification may not work properly or the full water tank (“FL”) alarm will flash on the display.

• To set a start time: In standby mode, press the TIMER button. Press the Plus and Minus (Up and Down) buttons to set a delay time (0-24 hours). The TIMER indicator lights up. The appliance will start automatically after the set time has elapsed.

• To set an end time: During operation, press the TIMER button. Press the Plus and Minus (Up and Down) buttons to set the timer running time (0-24 hours). The TIMER indicator lights up. The appliance will switch off automatically after the set time has elapsed.

• To turn off the display: Press and hold the mode key for 3 seconds. This will deactivate the display screen.

• To turn on the display: Press and hold the mode key for 3 seconds.

When the display is turned off:

• If any key on the air conditioner is pressed, the display will automatically turn on and then turn off again after 30 seconds of no user input.

• When controlling via the remote or SmarterHome™ app, the display will turn on to reflect the operation and turn off again after 30 seconds.

• If an error occurs, the display will turn on and show the error code.

1. Download the “Kogan SmarterHome” app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) and register an account.

2. Put the device in pairing mode. When first turned on, it may enter pairing mode automatically (Wi-Fi light flashes rapidly). If not, unplug it, plug it back in, and once in standby mode, press and hold the FAN button on the control panel for 3 seconds until the Wi-Fi light flashes rapidly.

3. In the app, tap “Add Device” or the “+” icon.

4. Select the product type: Heating & Cooling > Air Conditioner.

5. Enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network details.

6. On the next screen, confirm the indicator light is rapidly flashing.

7. The device will commence the pairing process. Keep your router, phone, and the KOGAN SMARTERHOME KASHPAC12YB close until connection is complete.

8. Once added, you can rename the device and assign it to a location.

Note: You must have a Google Home account set up prior to linking.

1. From the Google Home app’s home page, select the “+” icon to access the ‘Add and manage’ page.

2. Select ‘Set up device’, then select the ‘Works with Google’ option.

3. Search for and select the ‘Kogan SmarterHome’ service.

4. You will be prompted to sign into your SmarterHome account.

5. Tap ‘Authorise’ to grant Google permission to access the SmarterHome app and your devices.

6. Once connected, the app will display compatible devices linked to your account. You can then assign them to rooms and set up routines.

Note: You must have an Alexa account set up prior to linking.

1. From the Alexa app’s home page, select the ‘More’ icon in the bottom-right and then select “Skills & Games”.

2. Search for ‘Kogan SmarterHome’ to locate the skill.

3. Tap ‘Enable to Use’ to add the skill to Alexa.

4. You will be prompted to sign into your SmarterHome account.

5. Tap ‘Authorise’ to grant Alexa permission to access the SmarterHome app and your devices.

6. Once connected, the app will perform a search and display the devices linked to your account for control via Alexa’s voice commands.

When the water tank is full, the screen displays “FL” and the compressor stops. To empty the tank using manual drainage:

1. Turn off the unit and unplug the power plug.

2. Carefully move the machine to avoid spilling water from the internal water pan.

3. Place a container below the manual drainage outlet.

4. Unscrew the drainage cover and unplug the water plug. Water will automatically flow into the container.

Notes:

• During drainage, the body can be tilted slightly backwards.

• If the container is not large enough, replace the water plug before it is full to prevent water from flowing to the floor. Empty the container and then continue drainage.

• When the water has been discharged, replace the water plug and tighten the drainage cover. Do not restart the machine until the plug and cover are installed.

This method is applicable for cooling and dehumidification modes.

1. Unscrew the drainage cover and unplug the water plug from the continuous drainage outlet.

2. Insert a drainage pipe into the outlet.

3. Connect the other end of the drainage pipe to a bucket or drain.

• Unplug the power cord before cleaning.

• Wipe the appliance with a soft, slightly damp cloth.

• Do not use chemical cleaners, such as benzene, alcohol, or gasoline, as they may damage the surface.

• Do not use water, as it could penetrate the appliance and damage the electronics.

It is recommended to clean the filters every two weeks. Follow these steps:

1. Take out both air inlet grilles (start with the lower one) and remove the filter screens.

2. Clean the filters with a soapy solution of clear warm water (approx. 40°C) and a neutral detergent. Then leave the filter to dry in a cool place.

3. If the filter is not too dirty, simply use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust.

4. After the filters have dried, put them back into the appliance.

5. Reconnect the appliance and restart it.

Notes on cleaning filters:

• Do not use water that is too hot (optimum is approx. 40°C) or aggressive cleaning agents.

• To avoid deformation, keep cleaned filters away from heat sources and let them air dry.

• Never operate the appliance without the filter.

Follow these steps for long-term storage:

• Remove the plug from the water drain and empty the water tank.

• Let the appliance run in fan mode for 2 hours until the inside is dry.

• Switch off the appliance and unplug it from the power outlet.

• Clean the filters and put them back in the appliance.

• Remove the exhaust hose and store it properly.

• Remove the battery from the remote control.

• Cover the appliance with a plastic bag and place it in a dry place.

When putting the appliance back into operation after a long period:

• Check that the water drain plug and filters are correctly installed.

• Inspect the power cord for damage. If damaged, do not use the appliance and have it replaced by a specialist company.

• Reinsert the batteries in the remote control.

• Install all accessories according to the instructions in the “Installation” section.
