ADVICE: It is recommended to keep the packaging, as it must be re-used whenever the terminal is shipped.

The INGENICO MOVE 2500 features a 2″4 LCD Display, backlit keyboard, easy loading printer, smart card reader, and magnetic card reader. The compartment for the battery pack and SAM/SIM slots is located on the underside of the terminal.

The keys on the INGENICO MOVE 2500 have the following primary functions, though some may have other functions depending on the applications in the terminal:

Functions Key (top left, circular): Accesses the different application menus.

Red Key (X): Cancels the procedure in progress.

Yellow Key (back arrow): Cancels the last character entered.

Green Key (checkmark/enter): Validates input selections and information. It is also used to switch on the terminal.

0 Key: If pressed for a long time (more than 2 seconds), it will feed the paper a few centimetres.

To turn the terminal on:

Press the green key on the keypad.

To turn the terminal off:

If the battery is empty and the terminal is removed from its base, it will automatically shut off. To manually switch it off, press the period key (.) and the yellow key simultaneously for one second.

Magnetic Stripe Card:

The card can be read by swiping it from bottom to top or from top to bottom through the magnetic card reader on the right side of the terminal. Ensure the magnetic stripe is facing the terminal. Use a regular, smooth movement to ensure a reliable card reading.

Smart Card (Chip Card):

Insert the card horizontally into the smart card reader slot at the bottom of the terminal. The chip must be facing upwards. Leave the card in this position throughout the transaction.

Contactless Card (Optional):

Bring the contactless card firmly up to the active zone, which is located over the display screen. Keep the card close to the reader during the transaction. The 4 virtual LEDs on the display will light up during the transaction.

The terminal should be placed on a flat surface near an electric socket and away from hot zones, vibrations, dust, dampness, and electromagnetic radiation (like computer screens or anti-theft barriers).

CAUTION: Switch off the terminal before opening the trapdoor.

To open the trapdoor located on the underside of the INGENICO MOVE 2500, turn the terminal over and unclip the trapdoor by pushing on the clip in the direction shown by the arrows on the housing.

The security SAM/SIM module connectors are located inside the terminal, in the compartment under the trapdoor.

1. Switch off the terminal and open the trapdoor.

2. Locate the SAM and SIM slots, which are identified by engraved marks on the lower housing.

3. When inserting a SAM or SIM card into its slot, be sure to align the cut corner of the card with the cut corner indicated on the engraved marks.

The terminal has 2 factory options: 1SIM/3SAMs or 2SIMs/2SAMs.

WARNING: Check that the terminal is not connected to the main electric network before installing the battery.

1. Turn your terminal over and unclip the battery trapdoor by pushing on the button as shown on the picture.

2. Disengage and remove the trapdoor.

3. Take the battery pack included in the box.

4. Locate the battery pack connector beside the battery compartment.

5. Plug the battery pack connector according to the connector locating system. Verify that it locks into place.

6. Place the battery pack in its compartment.

7. Close the battery compartment trapdoor.

When to charge:

• On initial start-up, charge the battery for 16 hours under the recommended environmental conditions.

• When used daily, the terminal recharges its batteries automatically each time it is placed on its base.

• When used with a terminal power supply (not on a base), connect the power supply to the Move/2500 power connector.

Charging conditions:

The environment affects battery lifetime and autonomy. For optimal charging:

• Charge away from any external heat source (radiator, sun, enclosed area, etc.).

• The optimal temperature is between +15°C and +25°C.

How to charge:

• Using the base: Place the terminal on its base. Check if the battery symbol on the screen is flashing or moving, which indicates the battery is charging.

• Using the terminal power supply: Connect the terminal power supply unit to the MicroAB connector on the left side of the terminal, and connect the power supply unit to the mains network. Check to see if the battery symbol is flashing or moving.

WARNING: It is imperative to use a battery authorized by Ingenico. There is a danger of explosion if the battery used is not approved by Ingenico.

1. Remove the terminal from its base.

2. Turn it off by pressing the period key (.) and the yellow key simultaneously for about one second.

3. Remove the battery trapdoor as described in the “installing battery” section.

4. Lift the battery and remove it from its compartment.

5. Carefully disconnect the battery by following these steps:

a. Unlock the connector by pressing the locking mechanism (as indicated by arrow F1) while pulling the connector (arrow F2).

b. Once the connector is unclipped, finish extracting it by tilting it slightly (arrow F3) to bring it away from the terminal housing.

6. Inform the terminal that the battery will be replaced. To do this, start the terminal without a battery by either fitting it on its base or connecting the terminal power supply.

7. Remove the terminal from the base or disconnect the power supply.

8. Connect and install the new battery by following the instructions in the “Installing the battery” section.

9. To preserve the environment, dispose of the used battery in compliance with your country’s current recycling legislation.

WARNING: For best product performance, only use heat-sensitized paper approved by Ingenico.

R40 paper roll characteristics:

The thermal paper can be deteriorated by poor storage conditions. To maintain paper quality, you should avoid:

• Storage in hot, wet places (near an air-conditioner, humidity higher than 85%).

• Exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet for long periods.

• Contact with organic solvents (solvent type adhesive).

• Direct contact with materials containing plasticizers (PVC transparent folders or envelopes).

• Direct contact with “diazo” papers.

• Direct contact with water.

• Rubbing or pressing the paper too strongly.

WARNING: Switch off the terminal prior to installing a paper roll. Use only paper approved by Ingenico. The use of non-approved paper is likely to damage the printer of your terminal.

1. Open the paper compartment by lifting the catch located at the rear of the terminal and pulling the cover to the rear.

2. Insert the new paper roll into the compartment, following the directions shown in the compartment.

3. Pull the paper up to the top of the terminal.

4. Maintain the paper’s position and close the lid.

5. Press simultaneously on both upper corners of the paper flap until it clips into position.

ADVICE: If you insert a new R40 paper roll, tear off the first length (one complete turn) to avoid printing on any adhesive tape footprint.

Powering Down: To power down the INGENICO MOVE 2500, disconnect the power supply block adapter from the electrical mains network.

Battery Safety:

• Only use appropriate chargers and batteries listed in the Ingenico catalogue.

• Do not short-circuit the battery.

• Do not attempt to open the battery container.

• Used batteries must be disposed of at appropriate sites.

• There is a risk of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced or placed in a fire.

Electrical Power Outlet: The electrical outlet must be installed near the equipment, be easily accessible, and meet local standards and regulations. For a type A plug, the installation protection must be set to 20A.

On Airplanes: Your handset must be switched off by removing the battery pack when on an airplane.

Explosion Areas: Comply with regulations restricting the use of radio equipment in chemical plants, fuel depots, and blasting sites. The terminal should be protected by a specially fitted and certified cover for use near a fuel pump.

Electronic Health Appliances: The terminal is a radio transmitter that may interfere with health appliances like hearing aids, pacemakers, or hospital equipment. Consult your doctor or the equipment manufacturer for advice.

Your INGENICO MOVE 2500 fulfills current applicable PCI PTS security requirements. To maintain this security, follow these recommendations:

Check for Tampering: Upon receipt and regularly thereafter, check for signs of tampering. For example:

• Ensure the keypad is firmly in place.

• Look for unusual wires connected to any ports on your terminal, associated equipment, or the chip card reader.

Such checks can provide a warning of unauthorized modifications. If your terminal detects a “tampered state,” it will repeatedly flash the message “Alert Irruption!” and further use will not be possible. If you see this message, contact the terminal helpdesk immediately.

Secure Access: It is strongly advised that privileged access to your terminal is only granted to staff who have been independently verified as trustworthy. The terminal must never be put in or left in a location where it could be stolen or replaced by another device.

Prevent PIN Spying:

• Position the terminal on the check stand in such a way that makes cardholder PIN spying infeasible.

• If using an adjustable stand, it should allow consumers to swivel or tilt the terminal to a position that makes visual observation of the PIN-entry process difficult.

• Position in-store security cameras so that the PIN-entry keypad is not visible.

• NEVER ask a customer to divulge their PIN code. Customers should be advised to ensure they are not being overlooked when entering their PIN.

If your INGENICO MOVE 2500 does not turn on, try the following:

• Check the battery. Is it discharged or properly connected? A fully discharged battery can take a long time to recover its charge.

• Connect the terminal to its terminal power supply or place it on its powered base to begin charging.

If the INGENICO MOVE 2500 is having trouble reading cards, follow these steps:

• For magnetic stripe cards:

• Check that the magnetic card is swiped correctly, with the magnetic band on the side facing the terminal.

• Swipe the card again with a constant and rapid movement.

• Verify that the magnetic stripe on the card is not damaged, grooved, or cracked.

• For smart cards (chip cards):

• Make sure you have inserted the smart card correctly into the smart card reader and only remove the card after the transaction is performed.

If a ticket is not printing from your INGENICO MOVE 2500, check the following:

• Check the presence and proper positioning of the paper roll. You may need to adjust the paper roll by following the instructions for installing the paper roll.

• Check the type of paper being used. Thermal paper must be used.

• Verify that the thermal paper is installed correctly with the sensitive side in the correct orientation to be printed on.
