The DAKOTA ALERT PR-2500 package includes the PR-2500 portable receiver, a battery charger, and a belt clip.

To charge the DAKOTA ALERT PR-2500, plug the battery charger into an outlet and insert the jack into the charger plug on the side of the receiver. When the battery is low, the unit should be charged for 8-10 hours. The rechargeable Li-Ion battery can hold a charge for up to 10 days.

To turn the DAKOTA ALERT PR-2500 on, push and hold the side button for two seconds. The unit will beep, and the time display will appear. To turn the unit off, push and hold the side button again.

The DAKOTA ALERT PR-2500 has a backlight for viewing the display in low light. Pushing and releasing any button will turn on the backlight for a few seconds. The backlight will also turn on for a few seconds when the receiver gets an alert signal.

The main components of the DAKOTA ALERT PR-2500 are:

1. LCD display

2. Side button (ON/OFF and Mode button)

3. Left Button

4. Right Button

5. Charger plug

6. Reset button

In Time/Date Mode, the icons on the LCD display represent the following:

1. Time and Date mode indicator (usually the clock display itself)

2. Audible Tone icon

3. Vibrate Alert icon

4. Lock icon

5. Battery Charge Indicator

6. Time (in 24-hour format)

7. Date

When the DAKOTA ALERT PR-2500 is in Alert Mode, the display shows:

1. Last Channel received

2. Number of alerts stored on the indicated channel

3. Time stamp of the alert

4. Date stamp of the alert

When the DAKOTA ALERT PR-2500 receives an alert, the LCD display changes to alert mode. This screen will show the most recent alert received and will remain until you manually reset it. To return to the time/date mode, push the right button.

To enter the programming mode, the display must be in the time/date mode. Push the side and right buttons at the same time. There are four different programming screens you can scroll through by pushing the side button:

1. Time and Date setting

2. Audible tone ON/OFF

3. Vibrate alert ON/OFF

4. Frequency setting

Pushing the side button after the frequency setting screen will return you to the time/date mode. If no button is pushed for 8 seconds, the display will automatically return to the time/date mode.

1. Push the side and right button simultaneously to enter the programming mode. The hour digits will begin flashing.

2. Push the right button to change the hour to the correct setting. Holding the button down will scroll through the numbers quickly.

3. Push the left button, and the minutes will start flashing.

4. Push the right button to change the minutes to the correct setting.

5. Repeat this process to set the month, day, and year.

From the time/date setting screen in programming mode, push the side button to access the audible tone programming screen. The audible tone icon will flash, and “ON” or “OFF” will be shown on the display. Use the right button to toggle between on and off.

From the audible tone setting screen in programming mode, push the side button to access the vibrate alert programming screen. The vibrate alert icon will flash, and “ON” or “OFF” will be shown on the display. Use the right button to toggle between on and off.

From the vibrate alert programming screen, push the side button to access the frequency programming screen. There will be eight symbols at the bottom of the display, each being a 1 or a 0. These symbols correspond to the eight dip switches on your transmitter, with 1 representing “ON” and 0 representing “OFF”.

1. Push the left button to scroll through the symbols.

2. Push the right button to toggle the selected symbol between 1 and 0.

3. Make sure the frequency setting of the receiver and transmitter match exactly.

To lock the display, push the left and right buttons at the same time while in time/date mode. The top of the display will remain visible, but no other screens can be viewed. To unlock the display, push the left and right buttons again.

1. Push the side and left buttons at the same time to access the alert log. The display will show a channel and the total number of alerts stored for that channel.

2. Push the left button to scroll through the four channels and then return to the time/date mode.

3. To view the time and date stamps for a specific channel, use the left button to select the desired channel, then push the right button.

4. The date stamp for the most recent alert will be shown. Pushing the right button again will show the date stamp for the next alert. Continue to push the right button to see all stored alerts for that channel.

5. If no buttons are pushed for about 8 seconds, the display will automatically revert to the time/date mode.

1. Access the alert log screen.

2. Display the channel you wish to clear.

3. Push the side button. The text “CLrECOrd” (clear record) will appear on the bottom of the display.

4. Push the side button again, and all stored alerts for the chosen channel will be cleared.

If the DAKOTA ALERT PR-2500 stops responding, you should push the reset button. The reset button is located inside the small hole directly below the side button.

1. Insert a pin into the hole and push the button.

2. The unit will beep, and “dEFAULt” will appear on the bottom of the display.

3. Push the side button. The display will show “PASS” and then enter the programming mode.

4. Note that the time and date will have been reset to the default, and you will need to reprogram them.
