First, go to Settings > System & updates > System navigation and make sure Gestures is selected. Then, you can use the following gestures:

Return to the previous screen: Swipe inward from the left or right edge of the screen.

Return to the home screen: Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen.

Access multitasking screen: Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and hold.

End a task: In the multitasking screen, swipe up on the task card.

Switch apps: Swipe along the bottom edge of the screen. To enable this, go to System navigation, tap Settings, and ensure “Slide across bottom to switch apps” is turned on. You can also swipe in an arc along the bottom edge of the screen.

To use knuckle gestures, first go to Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures to enable Take screenshot and Record screen.

Take a screenshot: Knock twice on the screen with one knuckle.

Take a scrolling screenshot (scrollshot): Knock on the screen with a knuckle and draw an “S”.

Capture part of the screen: Knock and draw an enclosed area with a knuckle.

Record screen: Knock twice on the screen with two knuckles to start or end a screen recording.

Power off/Restart: Long press the power button until the Power off and Restart menus appear, then tap the corresponding menu.

Volume up: Press the volume up button.

Volume down: Press the volume down button.

Screenshot: Press the volume down button and the power button simultaneously.

You can choose between gesture navigation and three-key navigation.

Use gesture navigation:

Go to Settings > System & updates > System navigation and select Gestures. You can also turn on the “Show navigation bar” switch to assist with gesture operations.

Use Three-Key Navigation:

Go to Settings > System & updates > System navigation, and select Three-key navigation.

• Touch the triangle key to return to the previous menu or exit the current app.

• Touch the circle key to return to the home screen.

• Touch the square key to access the recent tasks screen.

You can also touch Settings within this menu to select a different navigation key combination.

Migrate Data from an Android Device:

1. On your new HONOR X8A CRT-LX1, open the Device Clone app. Alternatively, go to Settings > System & updates > Device Clone, touch “This is the new device”, then touch “Honor” or “Other Android”.

2. Follow the onscreen instructions to download and install Device Clone on your old device.

3. On your old device, open the Device Clone app and touch “This is the old device”. Follow the instructions to connect your old device with your new phone by scanning a code or connecting manually.

4. On your old device, select the data you want to clone, then touch Transfer to start. (Device Clone is only available on phones running Android 7.0 or later).

Migrate Data from an iPhone or iPad:

1. On your new HONOR X8A CRT-LX1, open the Device Clone app. Alternatively, go to Settings > System & updates > Device Clone, touch “This is the new device”, then touch “iPhone/iPad”.

2. Follow the onscreen instructions to download and install Device Clone on your old device.

3. On your old device, open the Device Clone app and touch “This is the old device”. Follow the instructions to connect your old device with your new phone by scanning a code or connecting manually.

4. On your old device, select the data you want to clone, then follow the instructions to complete the data cloning. (Device Clone is only available on phones running iOS 8.0 or later).

Turn On the Screen:

• Press the Power button.

• Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures > Wake screen, and enable “Raise to wake”.

Unlock the Screen with Password: Once the screen is on, swipe up from the middle of the screen to display the password input panel and enter your lock screen password.

Use Face Unlock: Turn on the screen and align it with your face. Your phone will unlock once your face is recognized.

Unlock with Your Fingerprint: Press an enrolled finger against the fingerprint sensor to unlock your phone.

Add service cards from app icons: Swipe up on app icons that support service cards to unfold them, then tap the pin icon in the upper right corner to pin it to the home screen.

Add service cards by editing the home screen: Pinch two fingers on the home screen to enter the edit screen. Tap Cards, select an app like Gallery or Weather, swipe to select your preferred style, and tap ADD TO HOME SCREEN.

Add widgets: Pinch two fingers on the home screen to enter the edit screen, tap Cards, find and enter Classic widgets, and tap a widget like Weather or Clock to add it to the home screen.

Set app as an expanding service card: Long press an app like Notepad, select Notepad cards, choose a style, and tap SET AS EXPANDING CARD. The next time you swipe up on the app, the service card will be displayed.

Remove service cards: Long press the service card, select Remove in the pop-up list, then tap REMOVE to confirm.

Create big folders: Long press a standard folder and tap Enlarge. You can long press the big folder to rename it.

Use big folders: Tap an app icon in the big folder to open it directly. Tap the layers icon in the lower right corner of the folder to expand it and view more apps.

Switch display mode: Long press the big folder and tap Shrink to restore it to a standard folder.

Use Your Knuckle: Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures > Take screenshot, and enable Knuckle screenshots. Then, knock the screen twice in quick succession with one knuckle.

Use a Key Combination: Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons simultaneously.

Use the Shortcut Button: Swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel and tap the Screenshot icon.

Use Three Fingers: Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures > Take screenshot, and enable Three-finger screenshot. Then, swipe down from the middle of the screen with three fingers.

Take a Scrolling Screenshot: After taking a regular screenshot, a thumbnail will appear in the lower-left corner. Swipe down on the thumbnail to start a scrolling screenshot. Alternatively, use your knuckle to draw an “S” on the screen.

Take a Partial Screenshot: Knock on the screen with a knuckle and hold to draw an outline around the part of the screen you want to capture. You can then drag the frame to adjust it and select a shape before saving.

Use a Key Combination: Press and hold the Power and Volume up buttons simultaneously to start screen recording. To stop, press and hold both buttons again.

Use a Shortcut: Swipe down from the status bar twice to show all shortcuts. Touch Screen Recorder to start. To stop, touch the timer at the top of the screen. The recording will be saved to Gallery.

Use Two Knuckles: Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures > Record screen and ensure it’s enabled. Then, knock the screen twice in quick succession with two knuckles to start. Knock twice again to stop.

Record Your Voice During Screen Recording: After starting a screen recording, touch the microphone icon and ensure it is displayed as enabled. If the microphone is disabled, you will only record system sounds.

Adjust Volume: Press the Volume up or down button.

Mute When Ringing: When your phone rings for a call or alarm, press the Power button to mute it.

Change Ringtone and Vibration: Go to Settings > Sounds & vibration. Tap Phone ringtone or Notification tone. You can select a system ringtone or tap Music on device to choose a local song. Tap Vibration to select a desired vibration mode.

Toggle Modes with Shortcuts: Swipe down from the status bar twice and tap Sound, Silent, or Vibration to toggle between modes.

Flip to mute: To mute an incoming call by flipping the phone, go to Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures > Mute ringtone/Reduce volume and ensure “Flip to mute ringtone” is on.

Set Default Volume: Go to Settings > Sounds & vibration to set the volume for Ringer, Alarms, Music, and Calls.

Enable Split-Screen Mode:

1. Open an app.

2. Swipe inward from the left or right edge and hold to bring up the Multi-Window dock.

3. Drag an app icon out of the Multi-Window dock to enter split-screen mode.

Use a Floating Window:

1. Swipe inward from the left or right edge and hold to bring up the Multi-Window dock.

2. Touch an app icon in the dock to open it in a floating window.

Manage Floating Windows:

• Relocate: Drag the bar at the top of the floating window.

• Resize: Drag any corner of the window towards the center.

• Display in full screen: Swipe down from the note bar at the bottom or touch the full-screen icon at the top.

• Minimize: Shake the window or touch the minimize icon at the top to shrink it into a floating bubble.

• Close: Swipe up from the note bar at the bottom or touch the close icon at the top.

You can check the battery level from the battery icon on the phone screen.

1. On your phone, swipe down the status bar and tap Link to Windows, or go to Settings > More connections > Link to Windows.

2. For first-time use, tap “Link your phone and PC” on your phone. On your Windows PC, visit http://www.aka.ms/phonelinkQRC with a browser and follow the prompts to open the QR code.

3. Scan the QR code on the PC screen with your phone to log in and connect. Follow the on-screen prompts to set permissions.

Once connected, you can manage phone notifications, text messages, calls, photos, and apps on your PC through the Phone Link application.

First, enable HONOR Share by swiping down from the status bar and turning it on, or by going to Settings > More connections > HONOR Share.

Share Files Between Phones:

1. On the receiving device, enable HONOR Share.

2. On your sending device, tap and hold to select a file or album, then tap the share icon. Tap HONOR Share, then tap the name of the receiving device.

3. On the receiving device, tap ACCEPT to accept the transfer.

Share Files From Your Phone to PC:

1. Enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the PC.

2. Enable HONOR Share on your phone.

3. On your PC, turn on PC Manager > HONOR Share and ensure “Allow discovery by other devices” is enabled.

4. Long press the file on your phone, tap the share icon, and select HONOR Share. Tap the PC’s name to share the file.

Portrait Mode:

1. Open Camera and select PORTRAIT mode.

2. Point the camera at your subject. To take a selfie, tap the switch camera icon.

3. You can tap the beauty icon to adjust beauty effects. For front camera shots in low light, tap the flash icon to use the screen ring fill light.

4. Tap the shutter button.

Night Mode:

1. Open Camera and select Night mode.

2. Steady your phone and touch the shutter button.

3. Your phone will adjust the exposure time. Keep your phone steady until the countdown finishes.

Wide Aperture Mode:

1. Open Camera and select APERTURE mode.

2. Touch where you want to focus. For best results, your subject should be within 2 meters (about 7 ft).

3. Touch the aperture icon in the viewfinder and drag the slider to adjust the blur effect. A smaller aperture value creates a more blurred background.

4. Touch the shutter button to take the photo.

1. Open Camera and go to MORE > PRO mode.

2. You can then set the following parameters:

• Metering method (M): Choose between Center-focused and Point metering.

• ISO sensitivity (ISO): Tap and slide to adjust. Increase for low light, decrease for bright light.

• Shutter speed (S): Tap and slide to adjust. Use a slower speed for still subjects and a faster speed for moving subjects.

• Exposure compensation (EV): Tap and slide to adjust. Increase for low light, decrease for bright light.

• Focus (AF): Choose between AF-S (Single), AF-C (Continuous), and MF (Manual Focus).

• White Balance (WB): Select a preset or tap the temperature icon to adjust the color temperature.

3. Tap the shutter to shoot.

Shoot Slow-Mo Videos:

1. Go to Camera > MORE and select Slow-mo mode.

2. Touch the speed icon and select 4x or 8x. (The 8x option may not be available on all devices).

3. Touch the record button to start recording.

4. Touch the stop button to end the recording.

Adjust the Slow-Mo Part in Videos:

1. Go to Gallery and select a slow-mo video.

2. Touch the play icon. During playback, touch More > Open in a video player to display the editing area.

3. Drag the sliders to adjust which part of the video you want to be played in slow motion.

4. Touch the menu icon > Save slow-mo file to save your edits.

Basic Photo Editing:

1. Open Gallery, touch the thumbnail of a photo, then touch the edit icon.

• Crop and rotate: Touch Crop, select a frame, and drag the grid to select the part you want to keep. Drag the angle wheel to rotate.

• Add a filter: Touch Filter to select a filter.

• Adjust photo effects: Touch Adjust to change brightness, contrast, saturation, and more.

• Other: Touch More to add a color splash, blur, doodle, or label.

2. Touch the save icon to save your edits.

Video Editing:

1. Go to Gallery > Albums and touch the video you want to edit.

2. Touch the edit icon to open the video editing screen.

• Select a theme: Touch Template and select a preset theme.

• Edit clips: Touch Edit, then drag the sliders on the timeline to trim the video.

• Add transitions, filters, background music, or text using the respective options on the editing screen.

3. When you are finished, touch the preview icon and then the save icon to save the video.

Add Albums:

1. Go to Gallery > Albums.

2. Touch the plus icon, name the album, then touch OK.

3. Select the photos or videos you want to add, and then move or copy them to the new album.

Move Photos and Videos:

1. In Gallery > Albums, open an album.

2. Touch and hold to select the photos and videos you want to move.

3. Touch the move icon > Move to select the desired album.

Delete Photos and Videos:

1. Go to Gallery > Albums.

2. Touch and hold to select the items you want to delete, then go to Delete > Delete.

Deleted items are moved to the “Recently deleted” album and will be permanently deleted after a certain period.

Hide Album:

Go to Gallery > Albums. In the Albums tab, tap an album, long press to select a picture or video you want to hide, and tap More > Hide > OK. To view hidden items, go to the Albums tab, tap the menu icon > Hidden items.

Answer or Reject a Call:

If the screen is unlocked when a call comes in:

• Touch the green phone icon to answer.

• Touch the red phone icon to reject.

• Touch the message icon to reject the call and reply with a message.

Enable Call Waiting: Go to Phone > menu icon > Settings and then go to More > Call waiting. This lets you answer a new call while another is in progress by placing the first call on hold.

Enable Call Forwarding: Go to Phone > menu icon > Settings, and touch Call forwarding. Select a forwarding method and enter the target number. Calls that meet your conditions will be transferred.

1. Go to Settings > Safety & emergency > Emergency SOS, and touch Emergency contacts to add an emergency contact.

2. Enable “Also send SOS message” and “Auto-SOS call”, and set related permissions as prompted.

Once enabled, if you are in an emergency, press the Power button five times in quick succession. Your phone will automatically send a message with your current location to your emergency contacts, then automatically call your emergency contacts one by one and play a pre-recorded SOS message.

App Twin enables you to log in to two WhatsApp or Facebook accounts simultaneously. Note that App Twin is only supported by some apps.

Go to Settings > Apps > App Twin, and enable App Twin for the desired app. The twin app will then be displayed on the home screen, allowing you to log in with a second account.

Clean Up Phone Storage:

1. Open System Manager, then touch Cleanup.

2. When the scan is complete, touch CLEAN UP after each item and delete any files you don’t need. You can also clean up duplicate files from this screen.

Manage Data Usage:

Open System Manager, then touch Data usage to view usage and manage network access. You can touch a high data consumption app to set mobile data, roaming, or background data usage limits for it.

Enable Smart Data Saver: On the Data usage screen, touch Smart Data Saver and enable it. This prevents apps from using mobile data in the background. You can toggle switches for specific apps to allow them unrestricted access.

Adjust Brightness: Go to Settings > Display & brightness. Enable Automatic for the phone to adjust brightness based on ambient light, or drag the slider to adjust it manually.

Use Eye Comfort Mode: This mode reduces harmful blue light. Enable it by swiping down the status bar and tapping the Eye Comfort shortcut, or go to Settings > Display & brightness > Eye Comfort. You can set a schedule and customize the filter level.

Enable Dark Mode: This mode softens screen brightness. Enable it via the shortcut in the notification panel or by going to Settings > Display & brightness and tapping Dark. You can also set it to switch on and off automatically from sunset to sunrise.

Adjust Screen Refresh Rate: Go to Settings > Display & brightness > Screen refresh rate, and select a refresh rate. A high screen refresh rate will deliver a smoother visual experience.

Enroll a Fingerprint:

1. Go to Settings > Biometrics & password > Fingerprint ID and enter your lock screen password.

2. Touch New fingerprint to begin.

3. Place your fingertip on the fingerprint sensor. Lift and press again when you feel a vibration, moving your finger around to enroll different parts of it.

4. When enrollment is complete, touch OK.

Enroll Facial Data:

1. Go to Settings > Biometrics & password > Face Recognition, and enter your lock screen password.

2. Select “Enable raise to wake” if desired.

3. Touch GET STARTED and follow the onscreen instructions to enroll your facial data.

Go to Settings > Battery (or System Manager) to manage power settings.

Enable Power Saving Mode: Enable Power Saving mode to restrict background apps and weaken visual effects to reduce power consumption. It is recommended to enable this when the battery level is 20% or lower.

Enable Performance Mode: Enable this mode for maximum performance, which will cause the battery to drain more quickly. This option is only available on selected devices.

Enable Smart Charge: Go to Battery > More battery settings, and enable Smart Charge. This feature learns your charging habits to manage the process intelligently, reducing battery wear and prolonging battery life, especially for overnight charging.

Display Battery Percentage: On the Battery screen, touch Battery percentage and select whether to display it inside or next to the battery icon.

Enable App Lock:

1. Go to Settings > Security > App Lock > ENABLE.

2. Follow the onscreen instructions to set the App Lock password and select the apps to lock.

3. If you have enabled face or fingerprint unlock, you can link App Lock with a face ID or fingerprint ID as prompted for easier access.

Change App Lock Password or Security Questions:

Enter the App Lock settings screen, go to the settings icon > Password type, and select Lock screen password or Custom PIN as the App Lock password.

Cancel or Disable App Lock:

On the App Lock settings screen, toggle off the switches beside the apps you want to unlock. To disable it completely, go to the settings icon > DISABLE APP LOCK > DISABLE.

Reset Network Settings: This will reset your Wi-Fi, mobile data network, and Bluetooth settings. It will not delete any other data. Go to Settings > System & updates > Reset, touch Reset network settings, and follow the instructions.

Restore All Settings: This resets all network settings, your lock screen password, and the home screen layout. Enrolled fingerprints and facial data will be deleted. Other data or files will not be deleted. Go to Settings > System & updates > Reset, touch Reset all settings, and follow the instructions.

Restore Factory Settings (Factory Reset): This will erase all data on your phone, including accounts, app data, system settings, installed apps, music, images, and all files in the internal storage. Make sure to back up your data before proceeding. Go to Settings > System & updates > Reset > Reset phone, touch Reset phone, and follow the onscreen instructions.
