To ensure the best performance and image quality from your EPSON LIFESTUDIO GRAND EH-LS670W, follow these placement guidelines:

1. Surface: Place the projector on a sturdy and level surface, such as a table or low shelf.

2. Alignment: Position the projector so it squarely faces the screen, not at an angle. For the best quality images, adjust the installation position to achieve the correct image size and shape without needing digital correction.

3. Tilt Adjustment: If the image is tilted, rotate the front adjustable feet to level the projector and make the image rectangular.

4. Ventilation: Leave plenty of space around and under the projector for ventilation. Do not place it on top of or next to anything that could block the vents. Be sure to leave at least 3.9 inches (10 cm) of space at the rear and 11.8 inches (30 cm) of space on the sides.

When installing your projector, adhere to the following warnings and precautions:

• Environment: Do not install the projector in a location subject to high levels of dust, humidity, smoke, or steam, as this could cause a fire or electric shock. Avoid locations with potential salt damage or corrosive gas.
• Ventilation: Do not cover the projector’s air intake or air exhaust vents. A covered vent can cause the internal temperature to rise, leading to a fire.
• Stability: Do not install the projector on an unstable surface or in a location beyond its weight specifications. It could fall or topple, causing an accident and injury.
• Operating Position: Do not operate the projector on its side, projecting straight up or straight down, or tilted to the right or left.
• High Altitude: If you are using the projector at altitudes above 4,921 feet (1,500 m), set the High Altitude Mode to On in the menu (Projector > Advanced Settings > High Altitude Mode) to ensure proper temperature regulation.

If your video source has an HDMI port, you can connect it to the projector to send both video and audio.

1. Connect one end of an HDMI cable to your video source’s HDMI output port.

2. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to one of the projector’s HDMI ports (HDMI1, HDMI2, or HDMI3).

Note:

• When connecting a gaming console, it is recommended to use the HDMI1 or HDMI2 port, as they support a 120 Hz refresh rate.
• When sending high-bandwidth signals like 4K 60 Hz 4:4:4, use a premium-high speed HDMI cable to ensure images are displayed correctly.
• Do not turn on the video source before connecting it to the projector to avoid potential damage.

You can connect external audio systems using several methods:

Using an Optical Audio Cable:

If your amplifier or speaker has an optical digital audio input port:

1. Connect one end of an optical digital audio cable to your audio device’s optical input port.

2. Connect the other end to the projector’s Optical Out port.

Using an eARC/ARC Compatible AV System (e.g., a sound bar):

If your AV system or speakers have an HDMI port that is eARC or ARC compatible:

1. Connect one end of an HDMI cable (with Ethernet) to your AV system’s HDMI output port (eARC/ARC compatible).

2. Connect the other end to the projector’s HDMI2 (eARC/ARC) port.

3. To enable this connection, set Global CEC control to On in the projector’s menu (Channels & Inputs > Inputs > Global CEC control).

Using Headphones:

1. Connect your stereo headphone’s mini-jack cable to the projector’s Audio Out port.

Attention: The Audio Out port only supports 3-pin headphones. If you use other types, audio may not be output normally. Always lower the volume before powering off and gradually increase it after powering on to avoid sudden loud noises.

The remote control uses two AAA batteries. Follow these steps to install or replace them:

1. Remove the battery cover by sliding it off.

2. Remove the old batteries, if necessary. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.

3. Insert the two new AAA batteries, making sure the + and – ends align with the markings inside the battery holder.

4. Replace the battery cover and press it down until it clicks into place.

The remote control should be aimed at the projector’s receivers from a distance of up to 19.7 feet (6 m).

When you turn on the projector for the first time, you need to set up the projector’s operating system using the initial setup wizard.

1. Turn on the projector.

2. When the pairing screen is displayed, press and hold the Home button and the Esc button on the remote control at the same time to pair it with the projector. The indicator on the remote will flash during pairing and turn off when complete.

3. When the language selection screen appears, select your desired language and follow the on-screen instructions to select your country or region.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to make initial settings for the projector’s OS. It is recommended to log in with your Google Account for more detailed settings.

5. When the Wi-Fi setting screen is displayed, select your wireless network and follow the instructions to connect. An internet connection is required for online content.

6. Follow any remaining on-screen instructions to make other necessary settings.

7. When you agree to the Epson license terms, the initial setup wizard closes, and the home screen is displayed.

Turning On the Projector:

1. Connect the power cord to the projector’s power inlet and plug it into a working electrical outlet. The projector will enter standby mode.

2. Press the power button on the projector or the remote control to turn on the projector. The status indicator will turn white.

Warning: Never look into the projector lens when the light source is on. When turning on the projector with the remote, ensure no one is looking into the lens.

Turning Off the Projector (Suspended Mode):

1. Press the power button on the projector or remote control. The light source turns off, the status indicator turns off, and the projector enters suspended mode.

2. To transport or store the projector, make sure the status indicator is off, and then unplug the power cord.

Turning Off the Projector (Deep Standby Mode):

This mode consumes less power than suspended mode but takes longer to start up.

1. Hold down the power button on the remote control.

2. Select OK on the shutdown confirmation screen. The projector enters deep standby mode.

To correct a blurry or fuzzy image, use the focus lever:

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Open the focus lever cover located on the side of the projector.

3. Move the focus lever up or down to adjust the focus until the image is sharp.

4. Close the focus lever cover.

If the projected image is curved or not rectangular (keystone distortion), you can correct it using the projector’s menus. After correction, the image will be slightly smaller.

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Press the Projector Settings button on the remote control to open the Projector menu.

3. Select Keystone.

4. Select Remote control.

5. Select whether you are projecting on a Wall or a Projector screen.

If projecting on a Wall:

1. Select the shape that best describes your projected image (e.g., “Edges of the image are straight but not rectangular” or “Edges of the image are distorted”).

2. If the edges are distorted, select which part of the image is distorted (e.g., “Top or bottom is not straight”, “Whole image is curved”).

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the points you want to correct and adjust them using the arrow buttons. The correction methods available are four-point, eleven-point, eight-point, or detailed point correction.

4. When you are finished, select Finish.

If projecting on a Projector screen:

1. Follow the on-screen instructions to physically move the projector until the projected image is larger than the screen frame.

2. Select Next. The four-point correction screen will be displayed.

3. Select the points you want to correct and adjust them to fit the screen.

4. When you are finished, select Finish.

Adjusting Image Size and Position (Zoom & Shift):

1. Press the Projector Settings button on the remote to open the Projector menu.

2. Select Zoom & Shift.

3. Use the left and right arrow buttons to adjust the image size (Zoom).

4. Press the [Enter] button to switch to Shift mode.

5. Use the arrow buttons to adjust the image position (Shift).

6. Press the Esc button to exit.

Adjusting Image Color (for wall color):

1. In the Projector menu, select Keystone, then select Adjust color.

2. Select the color that is closest to the color of your projection surface (wall) and select OK.

Changing the Image Aspect Ratio:

1. Press the Settings button on the remote to open the dashboard.

2. Select the gear icon on the dashboard.

3. Navigate to Display & Sound > Screen.

4. Select one of the available aspect ratios (e.g., Full, Super Zoom, 4:3). This setting is only available for HDMI sources.

Changing the Color Mode (Picture Mode):

You can select a color mode to optimize the image for your viewing environment.

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Press the Settings button on the remote control to open the dashboard.

3. Select the gear icon on the dashboard.

4. Navigate to Display & Sound > Display > Picture Mode.

5. Select the color mode you want to use from the list.

• Dynamic: The brightest mode, best for prioritizing brightness.
• Standard: A standard mode that balances brightness and color saturation. Generally recommended.
• Cinema: Best for enjoying content such as movies.
• Natural: Reproduces natural colors. Best option when you want to adjust the image color manually.

Changing the Sound Mode:

You can select a sound mode to provide optimum sound for different content.

1. Turn on the projector and start a video.

2. Press the Settings button on the remote control to open the dashboard.

3. Select the gear icon on the dashboard.

4. Navigate to Display & Sound > Sound > Sound Mode.

5. Select your desired sound mode.

• Standard: Outputs the audio using normal sound quality.
• Cinema: Best for audio from videos or movies. Emphasizes low and high pitch sounds.
• Dialogue: Best for hearing voices and spoken lines.
• Music: Best for music. Low and high pitch sounds are clearer.

You can use the projector’s speaker to output audio from a video/audio device connected by Bluetooth.

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Press the Projector Settings button on the remote control to open the Projector menu.

3. Select Bluetooth Speaker Mode. The Bluetooth Speaker Mode screen is displayed.

4. Enable the Bluetooth function on the device you want to connect (e.g., your smartphone) and select the projector name (this projector) from the available device list.

The projected image will turn off 10 seconds after the Bluetooth connection is established.

5. To exit Bluetooth Speaker Mode, press the Esc button.

You can temporarily shut off the projected image using the Picture off feature.

1. Press the Settings button on the remote control to open the dashboard.

2. Select the gear icon on the dashboard.

3. Navigate to Display & Sound > Display > Advanced Settings.

4. Select Picture off to turn off the projected image.

5. To turn the image back on, press the Esc button.

With Google Cast, you can stream entertainment from your favorite apps on your phone, tablet, or laptop to your projector.

1. Connect your device or computer to the same wireless network as the projector.

2. Open a Google Cast-enabled app and press the Cast icon.

3. Select your projector from the list of devices.

The app connects and starts casting to the projector.

4. To stop casting, press the Cast icon in the app and choose the disconnect option.

When an audio/video source that meets the HDMI CEC standard is connected, you can use the projector’s remote to control certain features of the linked device.

1. Press the Settings button on the remote control to open the dashboard.

2. Select the gear icon on the dashboard.

3. Navigate to Channels & Inputs > Inputs > Global CEC control.

4. Set Global CEC control to on.

5. Adjust the following settings as necessary:

• Allow TV to turn off connected devices: Set to on to automatically turn off the connected device when you turn off the projector.
• Allow connected devices to turn on TV: Set to on to automatically turn on the projector when you turn on the connected device.

6. Press the Esc button to exit the menus.

You can now use the projector’s remote to control functions like playback, stop, or volume on the linked device.

You can get the latest version of the projector firmware by using the Epson Projector Update app.

• If the app is not installed, you can install it from the home screen.
• When the latest firmware is available, a notification is automatically displayed. Follow the on-screen instructions to update.
• If there is not enough space in the internal storage, the update may fail. Free up space by deleting unnecessary apps and caches, then try updating again.

To manually check for updates:

1. Press the Home button on the remote control.

2. Select Apps and start Epson Projector Update by selecting it from the apps list.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

Attention: While updating the firmware, do not operate or turn off the projector.

You can reset all of the projector settings to their default values. If you initialize the projector, all information such as installed apps, Google Account login information, and menu settings will be deleted. Write down any settings you do not want to lose before performing initialization.

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Press the Settings button on the remote control to open the dashboard.

3. Select the gear icon on the dashboard.

4. Select the menus in the following order: System > About > Reset > Factory reset.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to start initializing the projector.

Warning: Before cleaning any part of the projector, turn it off and unplug the power cord.

Cleaning the Projection Window:

Clean the window periodically or when you notice dust or smudges.

• To remove dust or smudges, gently wipe the window with clean, dry lens-cleaning paper.
• If dusty, blow off dust with a blower, then wipe.
• Attention: Do not wipe the window right after turning off the projector as it may be hot. Do not use harsh materials.

Cleaning the Motion Sensor:

Clean the sensor periodically or if a message about obstacles appears. Gently wipe the sensors with lens-cleaning paper.

Cleaning the Projector Case:

• For dust or dirt, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
• For stubborn dirt, use a soft cloth moistened with water and mild soap. Do not spray liquid directly on the projector.
• Attention: Do not use wax, alcohol, benzene, paint thinner, or other chemicals.

Cleaning the Air Intake Vents:

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Turn the projector upside down.

3. Carefully remove dust from the vents using a vacuum cleaner or a brush.

Regular filter maintenance is important to prevent overheating. Clean the filter when a temperature warning message appears, or about once a year in a normal environment.

Cleaning the Air Filter:

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Slide the air filter cover latch and pull out the air filter cover.

3. Pull the air filter out of the air filter cover.

4. Vacuum the front of the air filter (the side with the tabs) to remove dust.

5. Place the cleaned air filter back into the cover with the four tabs facing down.

6. Close the air filter cover until it clicks into place.

Replacing the Air Filter:

You need to replace the air filter if it is torn or damaged. The replacement part is Air filter ELPAF60.

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Slide the air filter cover latch and open the air filter cover.

3. Pull the old air filter out of the projector and dispose of it according to local regulations.

4. Place the new air filter with the four tabs facing down into the projector.

5. Close the air filter cover until it clicks into place.

The status indicator on the projector shows its current condition. If the indicator displays a pattern not listed here, turn the projector off, unplug it, and contact support.

If the projector does not turn on when you press the power button, try the following steps:

1. Make sure the power cord is securely connected to both the projector and a working electrical outlet.

2. If you are using the remote control, check the batteries and replace them if necessary.

3. The power cord may be defective. Disconnect the cord and contact Epson for assistance.

If the projector’s light source turns off unexpectedly, check the following possible causes:

• Shut-Off Timer: The projector may have turned off due to the Shut-Off Timer setting. Press the power button to turn it back on. You can adjust this setting in System > Power & Energy > Shut-Off Timer.
• No Signal Standby: If switched to an HDMI source with no input signal for a specified time, the projector enters standby mode. Press the power button to wake it. You can adjust this setting in Channels & Inputs > Inputs > No signal standby timeout.
• Overheating: If the status indicator is lit orange, the projector has overheated. Let it cool down and check for blocked vents or a dirty air filter.
• Obstruction: Ensure there are no obstacles blocking the projection window. Remove any obstructions.

If no image is displayed, try the following steps:

1. Check Projector Status: Confirm the status indicator is lit white for normal operation. If it’s off, press the power button to wake the projector from standby mode.

2. Check Cable Connections: Ensure all cables are securely connected. Try connecting the video source directly to the projector. If using a long HDMI cable, try a shorter one (16.4 feet / 5 m or less is recommended).

3. Check Video Source: Turn on the connected video source and press its play button if necessary. If projecting from a laptop, ensure it is set to display on an external monitor.

4. Check Other Items:

• Verify your Wi-Fi is on for online content.
• Turn off the projector and the video source, then turn them back on.
• Reset all projector settings to their default values.

If only a partial image is displayed:

1. Adjust the image position using the Zoom & Shift setting in the Projector menu.

2. Select an appropriate aspect ratio from the Screen menu (for HDMI sources).

3. Check your computer’s display settings to ensure the resolution is within the projector’s limits and that dual display is disabled.

For a Fuzzy or Blurry Image:

• Adjust the image focus using the focus lever.
• Position the projector close enough to the screen.
• Clean the projection window.
• To avoid condensation on the lens after bringing the projector in from a cold environment, let it warm up to room temperature before use.
• Adjust the Sharpness setting in the Display & Sound > Display menu.

For an Image with Incorrect Brightness or Colors:

• Try different color modes in the Display & Sound > Display > Picture Mode menu.
• Check your video source’s output settings.
• Adjust individual color settings in the Display menu.
• Ensure you have selected the correct HDMI RGB Range setting in the Advanced Settings of the Display menu (for HDMI sources).
• Make sure all video cables are securely connected and try shorter cables if possible.
• Position the projector closer to the screen.

If there is no sound or the volume is too low, try the following solutions:

1. Adjust the projector’s volume using the volume up/down buttons on the remote control.

2. Check the cable connection between the projector and your video source.

3. Check your video source to make sure its volume is turned up and the audio output is set to the correct source.

4. If you want to output audio from the projector’s speakers, check that Global CEC control is set to Off in the Channels & Inputs > Inputs menu.

5. If you want to output audio to an external device via HDMI eARC/ARC, set Global CEC control to On. If audio is still not outputting correctly, try changing the Digital Output setting (in Display & Sound > Audio Output) from Auto to PCM.

6. To output audio only from an external device connected to the Optical Out port, set Audio Output Device to SPDIF in the Display & Sound > Audio Output menu.
