How do I operate the ELECTRO-HARMONIX X9 tuner?

1. Power/Mode button:

Short press to turn On. Press for 2 seconds to turn Off. When the device is on, short press this button to switch between the four different tuning modes: C (Chromatic), G (Guitar), B (Bass), U (Ukulele C), V (Violin).

2. Attach the tuner:

Attach the tuner to your instrument’s headstock using the clip. Different position sensitivity will vary.

3. Play a Single Note:

The display will show the note name and string number closest to the detected pitch. Tune the string until the VA display shows the correct string and note. The indication arrows and circle in the middle will show if the string is in tune.


How do I interpret the tuning visuals on the ELECTRO-HARMONIX X9 display?

The tuning visuals on the ELECTRO-HARMONIX X9 indicate the following:

Pitch is flat: A yellow dot leads a low note from bottom to center.

Pitch is high: A red dot leads a high note from top to center.

In Tune: A perfectly tuned note is indicated by two green side dots and a green circle in the center.

The notes for each mode are as follows:

How do I change the reference pitch on the ELECTRO-HARMONIX X9?

To adjust the default standard reference pitch (440Hz), press and hold the “Calibration 430-450Hz” button. You can adjust it anywhere from 430Hz to 450Hz.


How do I charge the battery on the ELECTRO-HARMONIX X9?

When the battery level is running low, please use the included USB charging cable to recharge the unit. Connect the USB-C cable to the charging port on the tuner.


How should I maintain the battery of my ELECTRO-HARMONIX X9 for maximum life?

The ELECTRO-HARMONIX X9 uses a Li-Po battery. To reach the maximum battery life, please charge it before using it for the first time. If the device will not be used for a long time, please charge it at least once every 3 months to maintain battery health.

• Only charge rechargeable batteries with chargers recommended by EHX.

• Observe correct polarity.

• Pack/store charged rechargeable batteries so that the terminals cannot contact each other (danger of shorting out/fire hazard).

• Do not expose to moisture.

• Switch rechargeable battery-powered products off after use.

• Only charge rechargeable batteries at ambient temperatures between 10°C/50°F and 40°C/104°F.

• When not using rechargeable batteries for extended periods of time, charge them regularly (about every three months).

• Do not mutilate or dismantle.

• Do not heat above 60°C/140°F, e.g. do not expose to sunlight or throw into a fire.

• Immediately remove rechargeable batteries from obviously defective products.

• Do not continue to use defective rechargeable batteries.

• Only use rechargeable batteries specified by EHX.

• Dispose of rechargeable batteries at special collection points or return them to your specialist dealer.

• Store the products in a cool and dry place at room temperature (approx. 20°C/68°F).

• Remove the rechargeable batteries if the products will not be used for extended periods of time.


What should I do if my ELECTRO-HARMONIX X9 is causing radio or television interference?
