8. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or ground-type plug.

9. Mains powered equipment shall be connected to a mains power outlet socket with a protective earthing connection.

10. To completely disconnect AC power from this apparatus, the power supply cord must be unplugged.

11. Unplug the apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.

12. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched.

13. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.

14. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus.

15. System installation and servicing should be performed by qualified personnel only.

16. When replacement parts are required, ensure the service technician uses parts specified by the manufacturer.

17. Upon completion of any service or repairs, ask the service technician to perform safety checks.

18. If used outdoors on a sunny day, place the loudspeaker in a shaded or covered area.

19. Do not use in temperatures below 0°C (32°F) or exceeding +35°C (95°F).

20. Avoid prolonged exposure to sound pressure levels exceeding 90 dB to prevent hearing damage.

Follow these safety rules for the battery and charger of your ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US:

1. Before using the internal battery charger, read all instructions and warning markings on the battery and loudspeaker.

2. To reduce the risk of injury, charge only Electro-Voice battery packs specified for use with the loudspeaker.

3. Only charge the battery pack in temperatures above 0 °C (+32 °F) and below 35 °C (+95 °F). Avoid charging in direct sunlight. Store the loudspeaker and battery pack where temperatures will not exceed 45 °C (113 °F).

4. Do not recharge the battery in a damp or wet environment and do not expose the loudspeaker to rain or snow while plugged into mains power unless using approved accessories.

5. Never submerge the battery pack or loudspeaker in fluid. Corrosive or conductive fluid can cause a short circuit.

6. Battery leakage may occur under extreme conditions. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If liquid contacts skin, wash with soap and water. If it contacts eyes, flush with water for a minimum of 10 minutes and seek medical attention.

7. Place the loudspeaker on flat nonflammable surfaces away from flammable materials when using or charging.

8. Ensure the power cord is located so that it will not be stepped on or tripped over.

9. Disconnect the loudspeaker by pulling the plug, not the cord. Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug.

10. Do not insert a cracked or visibly damaged battery pack into the loudspeaker.

11. Do not disassemble or operate the loudspeaker if it has been damaged.

12. Before each use, check the loudspeaker, cable, plug, and battery pack for damage.

13. Only use accessories or batteries recommended or sold by Electro-Voice.

14. Unplug the loudspeaker before storage, maintenance, or cleaning.

15. Replace the battery pack if a substantial drop in operating time per charge is observed.

Battery Care Warnings:

• When batteries are not installed, keep them away from metal objects like nails, screws, or keys to prevent shorting. DO NOT place batteries in a toolbox or pocket with such items.

• DO NOT PUT BATTERIES INTO FIRE or expose them to high heat, as they may explode.

• Do not attempt to disassemble the battery or remove any component from its terminals. Before disposal, protect exposed terminals with heavy insulating tape.

• Do not use the loudspeaker in damp or wet environments without the proper installation of the included weather cover or an approved rain cover.

Notices:

• Battery Protection Mode: The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharging. When empty, the loudspeaker enters this mode. The battery is supplied partially charged; fully charge it before first use. The battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life, and interrupting the charging process does not damage it.

• Battery Disposal: Do not dispose of batteries in household waste. Use suitable collection points. For lithium batteries, cover the terminals with electrically insulating material. They must be collected, recycled, or disposed of in an environmentally sound manner.

• Air Transport: Follow all applicable air transport cargo and passenger baggage regulations for lithium-ion batteries and powered devices.

To quickly set up your ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US, follow these steps:

1. Connect the AC power cord from a grounded receptacle to the MAINS IN to ensure the battery is charged. It is recommended to leave the loudspeaker charging for 24 hours the first time it is used.

2. Switch the power to ON.

3. Adjust the volume (VOL) to 0 dB using the MASTER VOL knob.

4. Push the input selection soft key for INPUT 1, INPUT 2, or INPUT 3/4 depending on your connection. Use the MASTER VOL knob to adjust the INPUT LEVEL to MUTE.

5. Connect your audio source (e.g., microphone, instrument) to the corresponding input. Ensure the audio source is muted or at a low level before connecting, then increase its output to a reasonable level.

6. Adjust the INPUT LEVEL until the signal peaks are just below the maximum level. If PK (PEAK) is indicated, turn the level down until the PK indication disappears. Press the input selection soft key again to exit the channel menu.

7. Using the MASTER VOL knob, adjust the master volume (VOL) until you get the required output from the loudspeaker.

Before pairing, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone or tablet.

To place the loudspeaker in pairing mode:

1. Press and hold the INPUT 3/4 button on the loudspeaker until “Pairing Mode On” and a 4-digit ID are shown on the LCD.

2. Navigate to your mobile device’s Bluetooth settings menu, find the EVERSE loudspeaker with the matching 4-digit ID, and pair with it for audio streaming.

To pair with the app for control:

1. Open the EV QuickSmart Mobile app. For Android devices, ensure location services are allowed.

2. The app will search for available Bluetooth enabled Electro-Voice loudspeakers and display them on the “Select your Speakers” screen.

3. Tap the loudspeaker you want to pair with. A line will appear under the selected device.

4. Repeat for any additional loudspeakers you want to connect.

5. Tap the CONNECT button.

6. You will receive a pairing request message from your device’s operating system for each loudspeaker. Tap PAIR to accept each one. The app can connect to up to six loudspeakers.

Your ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US comes with a pre-installed Li-Ion battery pack. Charge it for 24 hours before the first use for maximum run time.

Charging the Battery:

To charge the battery, plug the MAINS IN power cord into the loudspeaker while the battery is installed. Expected charge times after the initial charge are:

• 4 hours or less with no signal and power switched off.

• 6 hours or less with power on and audio playing at high output levels.

The LCD will display “CHARGING” while charging and “FULL” when fully charged.

Removing and Reinstalling the Battery:

1. Place the loudspeaker with the grille side down on a flat, non-scratching surface.

2. Fully loosen the two finger tab screws on the battery door by turning them counter-clockwise.

3. Gently but firmly pull on the battery pack using the finger pull on the back of the battery door to remove it.

4. To reinstall the battery pack, follow the steps in reverse. Ensure the battery door is fully seated before finger-tightening the screws until snug. Do not over-tighten.

When the weatherized input cover is installed, the ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US is rated IP43 (splash and light rain resistant), but not waterproof. To use the loudspeaker safely in wet environments:

Correct Usage:

• Always use the supplied weatherized input cover when operating on battery power with Bluetooth streaming. For mains power or I/O connector use, an accessory rain-resistant cover is required.

• Place the loudspeaker on an elevated, level, stable surface or on a tripod. Do not place it in a puddle or standing water.

• Always orient the loudspeaker upright, in KICKBACK mode, or in MONITOR mode. Do not place or transport it upside down or on the amplifier panel side to prevent water ingress.

• Always ensure the battery is properly installed.

• After use, dry the product and the weatherized input cover before removing the cover.

Incorrect Usage:

• DO NOT use the loudspeaker in damp or wet environments without the weatherized input cover or an accessory rain-resistant cover.

• DO NOT remove the weatherized input cover while it is wet, as water may access the I/O panel.

• DO NOT operate in wet environments if the battery is not installed, as this may allow moisture into the battery bay.

The weatherized input cover must be installed for use in wet or damp conditions to achieve the IP43 water resistance rating. This allows operation on battery power with Bluetooth streaming and control.

To install the cover:

1. Ensure the weatherized input cover is intact, dry, clean, and the gasket is in good condition.

2. Ensure the input panel on the loudspeaker is dry, clean, and the mating channel around the connectors is free of any dust or debris.

3. Power on the loudspeaker.

4. Install the cover by pressing it firmly to fully seat the gasket in the mating channel on the amplifier input panel. The cover should be flush with the adjacent panels of the loudspeaker.

To remove the cover:

• Pull the cover carefully and evenly using the finger pull-tabs.

Mounting on a Tripod Stand:

1. Place the tripod stand on a level and stable surface and fully extend its legs.

2. Do not compromise the stand’s integrity by trying to make it taller, and do not mount more than one loudspeaker on a single stand.

3. Lift the loudspeaker with two hands.

4. Set the pole cup located on the bottom of the loudspeaker onto the pole.

5. In the DSP control menu, set the loudspeaker LOCATION to TRIPOD for the best sound.

Mounting on a Pole Above a Subwoofer:

1. Place the subwoofer on a level and stable surface.

2. Insert the M20 threaded pole into the combo pole cup on top of the subwoofer.

3. Turn the M20 pole clockwise to secure it.

4. Lift the loudspeaker with two hands.

5. Set the loudspeaker location to TRIPOD in the DSP control menu.

6. Select the corresponding LOW PASS setting for your subwoofer in the DSP menu.

The ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US can be used as a floor monitor or in a kickback position by placing it on one of its two integrated monitor angles.

Setting up as a Floor Monitor:

1. Place the loudspeaker on a level and stable surface on its monitor angle.

2. Safely route cables to prevent injury to performers and crew.

3. In the DSP control menu, set the loudspeaker LOCATION to MONITOR.

Setting up in Kickback Position:

1. Place the loudspeaker on a level and stable surface.

2. Tilt the loudspeaker rearward to rest securely in the kickback position.

3. Safely route cables to prevent injury.

4. In the DSP control menu, set the loudspeaker LOCATION to KICKBACK.

The amplifier panel of the ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US features the following controls and connectors:

1. LCD: DSP control and monitoring interface.

2. MASTER VOL: Adjusts the sound level and navigates the DSP control menu. Push to enter the DSP menu.

3. Input selection soft keys: Press to select an input and access its DSP menu.

4. INPUT 1: Balanced input for mixing consoles, instruments, or microphones via XLR or 1/4-inch TRS. The XLR connector is selectable for 48V phantom power.

5. INPUT 2: Balanced input for mixing consoles or microphones (XLR) or Hi-Z instruments (TRS).

6. INPUT 3/4: Bluetooth stereo input for audio streaming or analog stereo input via 3.5 mm mini-jack.

7. MIX OUT: XLR output that sends the mix of all input signals or a stereo L/R signal to another loudspeaker or subwoofer.

8. FOOTSWITCH: 1/4-inch TRS connector for a footswitch to toggle FX on/off.

9. Mobile device charging port: 5V 1.5A USB port for charging mobile devices.

10. MAINS IN: IEC connector for AC power.

11. POWER: Switch for power ON or OFF.

12. DC POWER OUT: DC power output jack (12V DC, 500mA) for powering a wireless microphone receiver, such as the Electro-Voice RE3 or R300. This is not a charging port.

The main LCD screen of the ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US displays the following system status information:

1. VOL: Indicates the master gain of the system in dB (range: -80 dB to +10 dB).

2. INPUT 1 VU meter: Displays the signal level of INPUT 1. A ‘P’ indicates 48V phantom power is on.

3. INPUT 2 VU meter: Displays the signal level of INPUT 2. An ‘H’ indicates a Hi-Z instrument is connected to the TRS jack.

4. INPUT 3/4 VU meter: Displays the signal level from Bluetooth or the 3.5 mm mini jack.

5. MAIN VU meter: Displays the signal level of the MAIN output.

6. DUCK: Appears when ducking is activated on INPUT 1 or INPUT 2.

7. AFS: Appears when Automatic Feedback Suppression is enabled.

8. BATTERY status: Shows the battery level and indicates if it is charging.

9. FUNCTION indicator: Shows if the system is in MIXER or BASIC mode.

10. Status display: Alternately shows the selected preset number (1-5), ‘E’ if the preset is edited but not saved, and a lock symbol if controls are locked.

11. S (Audio streaming): OFF (disabled), FLASHING (pairing mode), SOLID (connected).

12. C (Control app): OFF (disabled), FLASHING (pairing mode), SOLID (connected).

The CLIP and LIMIT indicators on the LCD of your ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US alert you when the system is exceeding recommended usage:

• CLIP: This indicates that the input signal to the loudspeaker is too high, resulting in a clipped signal. If CLIP is shown, you should reduce the INPUT GAIN and/or the signal level from your mixer or source equipment.

• LIMIT: This protects the loudspeaker from short-term peaks and long-term overload that can cause distortion. When LIMIT is displayed on the screen, the limiter is active. If the LIMIT indication is shown often or continuously, you should reduce the output volume (MASTER VOL).

To access and modify DSP settings on your ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US:

1. Push the MASTER VOL knob to access the DSP control menu.

2. Use the MASTER VOL knob to scroll through the menu items on the left.

3. Push the MASTER VOL knob to select the menu item you want to modify. The focus will move to the parameters on the right.

4. Use the MASTER VOL knob to scroll through the available parameters for that setting.

5. Push the MASTER VOL knob to confirm your selection. The setting is saved, and the focus returns to the main menu items.

6. Repeat steps 2-5 to modify other settings.

7. Select EXIT to return to the home screen. The display will also return to the home screen after 30 seconds of inactivity.

To control the individual mixer channels on your ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US:

1. Press the input selection soft key (INPUT 1, INPUT 2, or INPUT 3/4) to select the channel you want to control. The soft key will illuminate.

2. Use the MASTER VOL knob to adjust the level for that channel.

3. To access more detailed settings for the channel, press the MASTER VOL knob to enter that channel’s specific DSP control menu.

4. To deselect the channel and return to main volume control, press the input selection soft key again. The light will turn off.

The DUCKER function on your ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US reduces the level of the other inputs when a signal is detected on a selected microphone input (INPUT 1 or INPUT 2), which is useful for speaking over background music.

Engaging the DUCKER:

1. Select INPUT 1 and/or INPUT 2 via its DSP menu.

2. Adjust the DUCKER level to set the detection threshold for the input. When a signal on this input exceeds the threshold, the other inputs will be reduced by 12 dB. Typical values are -10 to -20 dB.

The logic for which channels are reduced (ducked) is as follows:

To connect two ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US loudspeakers for TWS playback:

1. First, connect one of the loudspeakers to your streaming device (e.g., smartphone, tablet) via Bluetooth as you normally would.

2. On BOTH loudspeakers, navigate to the BLUETOOTH control menu in the main DSP settings.

3. On BOTH loudspeakers, select the LINK SPEAKERS option. The LCD will display “LINKING SPEAKERS…” while the connection is established. Once linked, the menu will show “UNLINK SPEAKERS”.

4. After they are linked, a “LINK ROUTE” option will appear in the BLUETOOTH menu. On one speaker, set the LINK ROUTE to L (Left). On the other speaker, set it to R (Right). This creates a stereo image from the audience’s perspective.

The recommended DSP settings for TWS are:

• MODE: MUSIC

• LOCATION: TRIPOD

• SUB: OFF

• INPUT PRESET: NONE

If there is no sound from your ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US, check the following:

• Improper gain: Verify that all your audio sources are turned on. If using a condenser microphone on INPUT 1, ensure phantom power is enabled in the menu. Check the VU meters on the LCD or in the app. If there is a signal, increase the input and master gain controls. If there is no signal, check your wiring.

• Sources not connected: Check all cables between the source and the loudspeaker using a cable tester. Replace any suspect cables.

• Microphone issues: If using a microphone that requires phantom power, ensure it is connected to INPUT 1 via XLR and that 48V phantom power is enabled. If the input gain is too low, slowly increase the input gain knob to engage the microphone pre-amp.

If the sound from your ELECTRO-VOICE EVERSE12-US is distorted, especially if the front LED is off and the LCD screen shows LIMIT is ON, it could be due to an excessive INPUT LEVEL or an incorrect gain structure.

• Reduce INPUT LEVEL: Lower the INPUT LEVEL or the master loudspeaker level knobs to prevent the limiter from activating.

• Check Gain Structure: Verify the level controls of your source (e.g., mixing console) are properly set. Use the VU meter on the loudspeaker’s LCD. If the VU meter bar is solid or the system indicates LIMIT, the input or source level is too high.

If your microphone is causing feedback when the INPUT LEVEL is amplified, try these solutions:

1. Enable Automatic Feedback Suppression (AFS): Turn on AFS in the DSP Control menu. This will help detect and reduce feedback frequencies.

2. Correct Gain Structure: Reduce the microphone levels at the mixing console or input source. If the mic is connected directly to the loudspeaker, reduce the INPUT LEVEL on the loudspeaker.

3. Change MODE: If the MODE is set to MUSIC, change it to LIVE or SPEECH, as these are better optimized for microphone use.

4. Adjust Microphone Position: Whenever possible, set up the loudspeakers so the microphone is behind them. If using the loudspeaker as a monitor, aim it towards the back of the microphone, away from the pickup element.

If the app is not detecting your loudspeaker, try the following steps:

• Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on the loudspeaker itself through the DSP menu.

• For Android devices, ensure that location services are activated for the app.

• Remove the loudspeaker from your phone/tablet’s Bluetooth device settings (this is sometimes called “FORGET”).

• Restart the pairing process from the beginning.

• Ensure your phone/tablet has the required OS version and the latest updates installed.

• Make sure you have the latest version of the QuickSmart Mobile App installed.

• Ensure no other phone or tablet is already connected to the same loudspeaker.

If the loudspeaker shows no reaction to user interaction or power cycles due to an unforeseen internal operation failure, you can perform a reset:

• Option 1: Remove the mains power and the battery. Then, put the battery back into the loudspeaker.

• Option 2: Press and hold the soft keys for INPUT 1 and INPUT 2 simultaneously for at least 10 seconds.
