What are the important safety instructions before using the machine?

Before using this machine read all instructions and cautionary markings in the manual and on the machine. Basic precautions should always be followed:

MAGNET WARNING: The fan and the remote control both contain magnets. Pacemakers and defibrillators may be affected by strong magnetic fields. Avoid placing the remote control in a pocket or near the device if you or someone in your household has a pacemaker or defibrillator. Credit cards and electronic storage media may also be affected and should be kept away.

GENERAL WARNINGS: These apply to the machine, tools, accessories, chargers or mains adaptors.

1. This machine is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or reasoning capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a person responsible for their safety.

2. Ensure full assembly before use. Do not dismantle or use without the loop amplifier.

3. Do not allow use as a toy. Supervise children near the machine.

4. Use only as described in the Dyson Operating Manual. Do not perform maintenance other than shown or advised by the Dyson Helpline.

5. Suitable for dry location ONLY. Do not use outdoors, on wet surfaces, or expose to water or rain.

6. Do not handle the plug or machine with wet hands.

7. Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug. If damaged, discard the machine or return it to an authorized service facility. If the cord needs replacement, it must be done by Dyson, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazards.

8. If the machine isn’t working correctly, received a sharp blow, was dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or submerged, do not use it and contact the Dyson Helpline.

9. Do not stretch the cord or place it under strain. Keep it away from heated surfaces.

10. Do not run the cord under carpeting, rugs, or furniture. Arrange the cord away from traffic areas to prevent tripping.

11. Unplug by grasping the plug, not the cord. Extension cord use is not recommended.

12. Do not insert objects into openings or the inlet grill. Keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, etc.

13. Do not use cleaning agents or lubricants. Unplug before cleaning or maintenance.

14. Carry the machine by the base, not the loop amplifier.

15. Turn off controls before unplugging. Unplug when not in use for extended periods. Coil the cord safely to avoid tripping hazards.

16. Do not use near furnaces, fireplaces, stoves, or other high-temperature heat sources.

17. Do not use next to air fresheners or similar products. Keep essential oils and chemicals away.

18. OVERLOAD PROTECTION (FUSE): A blown fuse indicates an overload or short-circuit. Unplug the product. Replace the fuse following user servicing instructions (use proper rating) and check the product. If the replacement fuse blows, a short-circuit may exist; discard the product or return it for service.

19. CHOKING HAZARD: The remote contains a small battery. Keep it away from children. Do not swallow the battery. Seek medical advice immediately if swallowed.

20. Keep fingers clear between the filter and purifier base when removing/replacing the filter.

21. CALIFORNIA WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.

What are the polarization instructions for the plug?

To reduce the risk of electric shock, this machine has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature or change the plug in any way.

What actions should be avoided when using the machine?

Do not pull on the cord.

Do not store near heat sources.

Do not use near open flames.

Do not carry by the loop amplifier.

How do I use the remote control?

Attach the remote control magnetically to the top of the machine with the buttons facing down. To operate, point the remote control toward the front of the base of the machine.

Controls include:

Standby ON/OFF

Airflow control (+/-)

Oscillation ON/OFF

Auto mode

Sleep timer

Night mode

What do the display icons mean?

Wi-Fi Symbol:

Flashing green = Wi-Fi is ready to connect to your Dyson Link app

Flashing white = Wi-Fi connecting

Solid white = Wi-Fi connected

Off = Wi-Fi disabled

‘A’ Symbol (Auto Mode Indicator):

Solid white = cleaning/below air quality target

Solid green = clean/air quality target has been met

Off = machine is not in auto cleaning mode

Moon Symbol (Night Mode Indicator):

Solid white = machine is in night mode

Off = appliance is not in night mode

How do I adjust the airflow?

Use the airflow control buttons (+/-) on the remote control to select a high or low flow of air. The numerical display shows the current airflow level.

How do I set or cancel the sleep timer?

Press the sleep timer button on the remote repeatedly to cycle through the desired times (e.g., 15 minutes, 30 minutes, up to 9 hours). When the selected time reaches zero, the machine will go into standby mode. To cancel, press the sleep timer button until two dashes appear on the display.

How does Night Mode work?

Press the Night Mode button (moon symbol) on the remote. The night mode will dim the display and run quietly. The display dims and fades to off after 5 seconds, leaving only the illuminated half moon symbol.

If in manual mode, the airflow power will reduce to level 4 (or stay the same if already below level 4). This can be manually changed if desired. The display will illuminate briefly when changed, then fade again.

If in Auto mode, the power will be reduced automatically.

How does Auto Mode work?

Press the AUTO button on the remote. When Auto mode is enabled (indicated by an ‘A’ symbol in the bottom left corner of the display), the on-board sensors will intelligently adjust the speed of the machine according to the air quality.

Poor air quality: ‘A’ symbol is white, numerical display shows airflow speed.

Air quality improving: ‘A’ symbol is white, numerical display shows airflow speed.

Air quality target has been met: ‘A’ symbol turns green, numerical display switches off. If air quality worsens, the ‘A’ symbol turns white and the machine automatically restarts cleaning.

Note: A period of 6 days is required after first use for the sensor to calibrate. During this period, the machine may be more sensitive to VOCs than normal. The Dyson Link app can be used to further adjust sensitivity.

How do I set up the Dyson Link app?

1. Download the Dyson Link app, available on iOS and Android.

2. Open the app and select ‘Add a Product’.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

4. You will need the Product SSID, Wi-Fi Password, and Mac address, which can be found on the front of the operating manual or potentially on a sticker on the machine itself.

How do I check for and clear blockages?

Ensure the machine is unplugged before checking for blockages.

1. Check air inlet holes on the filter: Look for blockages and use a soft brush to remove debris.

2. Check loop amplifier aperture: Look for blockages in the small aperture inside the loop amplifier. Use a soft brush to remove debris.

3. Check under filter: Press the buttons on the sides to lift off the loop amplifier, then lift off the filter. Look for blockages in the air inlet holes under the filter area and use a soft brush to remove debris. Replace the filter and then the loop amplifier.

How do I clean the machine?

Ensure the machine is unplugged.

Wipe dust from the loop amplifier, filter unit exterior, and other parts with a dry or damp cloth when dust accumulates.

Do not use detergents or polishes to clean the machine.

Clean the sensor hatch every time the filter is replaced. Open the small hatch on the side of the machine. Use a cotton swab to clean inside and remove any debris. This maintains sensor accuracy.

How do I replace the non-washable filter unit?

When the non-washable filter unit needs replacing, the machine will display a specific pattern (often ‘FNC’ or similar). The machine is programmed to remind you after 12 months based on 12 hours of usage per day, but the indicator may activate sooner with more use. Replace it more regularly if needed.

1. Ensure the machine is unplugged.

2. Press the release buttons on the sides of the base and lift off the loop amplifier.

3. Lift the old filter unit off the base.

4. Dispose of the old filter unit in your household waste bin (it is non-recyclable).

5. Remove packaging from the new filter unit.

6. Place the new filter unit onto the base.

7. Place the loop amplifier back onto the base, ensuring it clicks into place.

8. Plug the machine in. Press and hold the ‘Standby ON/OFF’ button on the remote control (or on the machine if available) for 6 seconds.

9. A clockwise-rotating loading pattern will be shown on the LED display.

10. Once the loading pattern is complete, the appliance will return to its normal usage.

A new filter unit can be purchased at http://www.dyson.com/filter.

How do I clear the Wi-Fi network settings?

Press and hold the ON/OFF button on the appliance (not the remote) for longer than 20 seconds (approximately 21 seconds). The Wi-Fi symbol on the display will flash alternately between white and green to indicate that your network details have been removed. If you clear the network settings, the appliance will not connect to the Dyson Link app.

How do I enable or disable Wi-Fi?

Press and hold the ON/OFF button on the appliance (not the remote) for between 10 and 20 seconds.

Wi-Fi Disabled: The display will show ‘OFF’ under the Wi-Fi symbol.

Wi-Fi Enabled: The display will show ‘ON’ under the Wi-Fi symbol, and the symbol will then indicate connection status (flashing green, flashing white, solid white).

If Wi-Fi is disabled, the appliance will not connect to the Dyson Link app.

What should I do if I see an ‘E’ error message on the display?

Flashing ‘E’: The appliance is unable to do what has been requested.

Solid ‘E’: The appliance has stopped functioning correctly.

Make sure you have checked the following:

The room temperature is above 5°C / 41°F.

There are no blockages in the inlet grille or loop amplifier outlet.

The filter has been correctly assembled and doesn’t need to be replaced.

The appliance is correctly plugged in directly to the wall outlet.

If the message still displays after checking these points, unplug the machine and leave it for 10 seconds before turning it on again.

If the problem persists, please call the Dyson Helpline.
