Your DYSON PENCILVAC machine is boxed in 3 parts:

1. Machine body

2. Battery

3. Cleaner head/tools

The box also contains a one-piece charger and a magnetic charging dock. Additional tools available include a rotating combi-crevice tool and a Hair screw tool.

Simply attach the battery to the main body and then the cleaner head or tool to the other end of the main body.

Before first use, you must charge the DYSON PENCILVAC on the dock. Keep the charging jacks on the charger and charging dock away from conductive materials such as carbon fibre. Always disconnect the charger from the mains before cleaning the machine.

The DYSON PENCILVAC has three cleaning modes, which can be selected using the mode select button:

Eco mode: Provides maximum run time (up to 30 minutes) for longer cleans of fine dust.

Med mode: Offers the optimum balance of power and run time (up to 20 minutes) for normal levels of dust. When you attach the cleaner head or Hair screw tool, Auto mode is activated, and suction power automatically adapts to dust levels.

Boost mode: Designed for intensive spot cleaning of ground-in dirt, providing up to 5 minutes of run time.

The LCD screen displays helpful performance information such as the selected power mode, remaining run time, and essential maintenance alerts. It constantly displays the remaining run time, so you always know how much cleaning time you have left, and shows the battery level as a percentage.

The alerts you might see on your LCD screen are:

Blockage: This indicates your machine has a blockage that needs removing.

Filter: This alert means the filter isn’t fitted correctly or needs cleaning.

Battery: You will be prompted with this alert when the battery is unable to function.

First, download the MyDyson™ app from the App Store or Google Play and create an account.

To connect your machine, scan the QR code on the LCD screen or find your machine through the app. Hold your mobile device next to your machine and press the power button to activate pairing mode. Once paired, follow the in-app instructions to set your language and activate your warranty.

Empty your bin as soon as the dirt reaches the MAX mark. To empty it:

1. Press the red bin catch and pull the bin away from the main body.

2. Hold your vacuum over a bin. This action moves dirt from the upper tray and separator. Repeat three times.

3. If the bin doesn’t empty fully, remove it completely by pushing the red bin stop catch on the separator to fully release it.

To reassemble, slide the bin back on the separator until it is fully secure and engaged by the red bin catch.

Do not put any part of your machine in a dishwasher or use detergents, polishes, or air fresheners.

1. First, empty the bin as per the instructions.

2. Press the red button located on the bin runner to release the bin and slide it off the runner.

3. Clean the dirt and rinse the bin under running tap water.

4. Make sure that the bin and seals are completely dry before replacing.

5. To replace the bin, insert the spine onto the bin runner and push the bin base upwards until it clicks into place.

1. Remove the cones: Gently lift the upper plastic casing away from the cones. Unscrew each cone and pull it away from its fixture.

2. Wash the cones: Wash the cones under running water. Squeeze to remove excess water and leave to dry fully.

3. Reattach the cones: Once dry, attach the cones by matching the colour of the plastic fitting on the cone to the same colour on the cleaner head. Refit the upper plastic casing by gently pushing it back into place until it clicks.

4. Wipe charging contact: Ensure the charging contact is clean and fully dry.

It is recommended to do a full clean with water at least once a month.

1. Access the filter: Press the red release catch to remove the cleaner head. Press the red catch again to fully extend the clear bin.

2. Remove the filter: Squeeze and pull the red tab at the top to remove the filter from the machine. Slide down to separate the mesh from the pleated filter.

3. Empty debris: Gently tap both the mesh and pleated filter into a bin to remove excess dust and debris.

4. Wash: Wash and vigorously shake both parts of the filter under running water. Repeat until the water runs clear.

5. Dry: Shake to remove any excess water and leave for at least 24 hours to dry completely.

6. Refit: Align and press the side mesh to the pleated filter. Align the lower end of the complete filter and press to refit. Reclose the clear bin and reattach the cleaner head.

Do not put any part of your machine or its tools in a dishwasher, or use detergents, polishes, or air fresheners. Wipe tools with a damp, lint-free cloth, without touching the connector end. Ensure your tools are completely dry before using.

If your machine detects a blockage, an alert will appear on the LCD screen, and the machine will stop working until it is cleared. Follow these safety steps:

1. Leave your machine to cool down before looking for blockages.

2. Disconnect your machine from the charger.

3. Take care not to touch the power button.

4. Be careful of sharp objects that may be causing the blockage.

Check for blockages in the cleaner head and bin. To clear the cleaner head, press the red button to remove the baffle, remove the obstruction, and then refit the baffle. Ensure all blockages are completely cleared and all parts are correctly fitted before using your machine.

The Hair screw tool does not have a washable brush bar. Check it regularly for obstructions.

To disassemble:

1. Disconnect the machine from the charger and do not touch the trigger.

2. Remove the Hair screw tool from the wand or machine.

3. Push the base plate open, then press the red lever down to release the cleaner head cover.

4. Pull the cleaner head cover off the main body of the tool.

To clear and clean:

1. Pull the brush bar firmly to remove it from the main body.

2. Check and remove any obstructions from all three parts (main body, cover, brush bar).

3. Wipe over the tool with a damp lint-free cloth. Do not wash it or use detergents.

To re-assemble:

1. Push the brush bar back into position until it clicks.

2. Ensure the red locking lever is in the unlocked position. Align the cleaner head cover with the guide on the main body and push down until it clicks.

3. Push the red locking lever up until it clicks into position and push the base plate back into place.

To store or repackage your DYSON PENCILVAC, detach the cleaner head and battery from the main body. To disassemble the charging dock, press both catches inward on the base and pull the stem away from the base.

For the best performance and battery life, use Boost mode only for an intense burst of power. Your battery is designed to charge on the dock and will stop charging when complete. Returning the machine to the dock after each use helps maintain battery life.

The serial number for your DYSON PENCILVAC is printed on the main body of the machine, located behind the back of the clear bin.
