Electric Shock Safety:

• The power cable must not be replaced by the user. If it is damaged, contact De’Longhi Customer Services.

• Never immerse the coffee maker in water.

• Unplug the appliance and turn off the main switch when not in use.

• Ensure the mains power supply voltage matches the value on the appliance rating plate and connect it to an efficiently earthed socket with a minimum rating of 10A.

• If the plug doesn’t fit the socket, have a qualified electrician replace the socket.

• Avoid spilling liquid on the plug or power cable.

Burn Prevention:

• This appliance is made to “prepare coffee”. Be careful to avoid being scalded by spraying water or steam.

• Do not touch the hot surfaces. Use the knobs or handles.

• Never touch the appliance with wet or damp hands or feet.

• The warming plate remains hot after the appliance has been used.

General Safety and Usage:

• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced capabilities if they have been given supervision or instruction.

• Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years.

• After unpacking, ensure the appliance is complete and undamaged. Keep packing elements like plastic bags away from children.

• Place the appliance on a work surface away from water taps, basins, and heat sources.

• Do not install the appliance where the temperature may reach 0°C or lower, as the water freezing could cause damage.

• The appliance is for household use only.

When you first turn on the DELONGHI ICM16731, the clock will show 12:00. To set the clock, follow these steps:

1. Keep the Timer/clock button (P) pressed for more than 2 seconds.

2. Press the Timer/clock button (P) repeatedly to increase the time in one-minute steps. Keep pressing to increase the speed.

3. After you stop pressing the button for 3 seconds, the clock will be set and the appliance will return to active mode.

To set the timer for the DELONGHI ICM16731 to start brewing automatically, follow these steps:

1. Press the Timer/clock button (P). The default timer is 6:00. When timer setup mode is enabled, the clock icon will be on.

2. Press the Timer/clock button (P) to increase the time by one minute. Keep pressing to increase the speed.

3. After 3 seconds of not pressing any button, the timer is set, and the appliance returns to active mode with the clock icon turned off.

4. To activate the AUTO mode, press and hold the /AUTO button (O) for more than 2 seconds. The clock icon will turn on. The brew will start at the preset timer.

Please note: The first time you use the DELONGHI ICM16731, wash all accessories and internal circuits by making at least two jugs of coffee without using any ground coffee.

1. Open the top lid (E) and use the jug to pour clean, cold water into the water fill compartment (F). Fill to the level indicated for the number of cups you want to make, visible on the water level indicator (D).

2. Position the permanent filter (H) in the filter holder (G). If your model doesn’t have a permanent filter, use a paper filter (size 1×4).

3. Use the provided measure (C) to place pre-ground coffee into the filter. Level it evenly. Refer to the recommended quantities table for guidance.

4. Close the top lid (E) and place the closed jug on the warming plate (I).

5. To optimize the coffee taste, you can press the My aroma button (Q). This function adjusts the percolation process. You can loop between three different options: Light, Medium, or Strong.

6. To start brewing, press the /AUTO button (O). The white light indicates the coffee maker is operating, and “BREW” will appear on the display. The appliance will beep once when delivery begins and three times when it ends.

The quantities are indicative and can be adapted to your personal taste. Never exceed the maximum of 10 measures. One level measure is equivalent to 1 tablespoon (5 g).

The ‘My aroma’ function on the DELONGHI ICM16731 optimizes the taste of the coffee by enabling a percolation process that releases water into the filter more slowly or quickly. Filtering a little at a time improves the flavor and aroma.

To use it, press the My aroma button (Q). You can loop between three different options:

Before cleaning the DELONGHI ICM16731, turn it off, unplug it from the mains, and allow it to cool completely.

• Do not use solvents or abrasive detergents. Wipe the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth.

• Never immerse the coffee maker in water as it is an electrical appliance.

• The water tank filter (S) can be accessed through the lid (E). Clean it when necessary.

If the water in your area is hard, limescale can build up and affect the operation of your DELONGHI ICM16731. It is recommended to descale the coffee maker every 40 coffee-making cycles.

When to Descale:

The appliance will indicate when it needs descaling. The Descale button (R) will flash.

How to Descale:

1. Use a commercially available descaling product for drip coffee makers.

2. Dilute the descaler product in the jug, following the instructions on the descaler packaging.

3. Pour the solution into the water fill compartment (F).

4. Place the jug on the warming plate.

5. Press the Descale button (R) and then press the /AUTO button (O).

6. After the descaling cycle is complete, rinse the appliance by operating it with water only at least 2 times (2 complete tanks of water).

The appliance resets automatically after descaling. Failure to clean as described invalidates the guarantee.

If your DELONGHI ICM16731 displays an error code, refer to the following table for a solution:

The DELONGHI ICM16731 must not be disposed of with household waste. It should be taken to an authorized waste separation and recycling center.

WARNING – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED.

If your appliance is fitted with a plug, it incorporates a 13 Amp fuse. If the plug does not fit your socket, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted. Dispose of the cut-off plug very carefully; do not insert it into a 13 Amp socket elsewhere as this could cause a shock hazard.

The wires in the mains lead are colored according to the following code:

• Green and yellow: Earth

• Blue: Neutral

• Brown: Live

When wiring a new plug, proceed as follows:

• The green and yellow wire must be connected to the terminal in the plug marked with the letter E, the earth symbol, or colored green or green and yellow.

• The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter N or colored black.

• The brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter L or colored red.
