3. After you stop pressing the button, the clock will be set after 3 seconds, and the appliance will return to active mode.


How do I set the automatic start timer on my DELONGHI ICM16710?

If the timer is not set, the default is 6:00. To set the timer:

1. Press the Timer/clock button (P). The clock icon will turn on.

2. A single press increases the time by one minute; holding the button increases the time faster.

3. After 3 seconds of no button presses, the timer is set, and the appliance will turn to active mode. The clock icon will turn off.

To activate the AUTO mode for a timed brew, press and hold the /AUTO button (O) for more than 2 seconds. The clock icon will turn on, and the BREW will start at the preset time.


How do I make drip coffee with the DELONGHI ICM16710?

Please note: The first time you use the appliance, wash all accessories and internal circuits by making at least two jugs of coffee without using any ground coffee.

To make coffee:

1. Open the lid (E) and use the jug to pour cold water into the water fill compartment (F) up to the level indicated for the number of cups you want to make. You can check the level via the window (D).

2. Place the permanent filter (H) (if provided) in the filter holder (G). If you don’t have a permanent filter, use a paper filter (size 1×4).

3. Add pre-ground coffee into the filter using the provided measure (C) and level it evenly. Refer to the recommended quantities table. Never exceed 10 measures.

4. For models with a glass jug (A), close the lid (E) and place the closed jug on the plate (I).

5. For models with a thermal jug (B), ensure the jug’s lid is closed before placing it on the base.

6. Press the On/stand by button (M) or the /AUTO button (O) to start brewing. The appliance will beep when delivery begins and three times when it ends.


What are the recommended coffee quantities for the DELONGHI ICM16710?

The quantities are indicative and can be adapted to your personal taste. Use good quality, medium pre-ground coffee. Note: 1 level measure = 1 tablespoon (5 g).

How do I use the AROMA and “My aroma” functions on the DELONGHI ICM16710?

These functions enable a slower percolation process, which improves the flavor and aroma of the coffee.

For models with electronic controls (My aroma button Q):

Press the “my” My aroma button (Q) to cycle between three different strength options:

(one dot) Light
(two dots) Medium
(three dots) Strong

For models with switch (AROMA button L):

Press the AROMA button (L) to enable the function; the light on the button will turn on. Press it again to disable the function. This is recommended when you are not making a full jug of coffee.


What are the operational differences between the DELONGHI ICM16710 models?

Models with glass jug: If you leave the On/stand by button (M) pressed after brewing, the hot plate will keep the coffee at an ideal temperature. The appliance automatically turns off 40 minutes after brewing ends. To turn the plate off sooner, press the On/stand by button again.

Models with thermal jug: The appliance turns off automatically after brewing has ended. To pour coffee, press the button on the lid. To remove the lid completely, turn it to the “OPEN” position.

For any model, to start a new brewing cycle, switch the appliance off and then on again.


How do I clean the DELONGHI ICM16710?

Before cleaning, turn the appliance off, unplug it from the mains, and allow it to cool completely.

Do not use solvents or abrasive detergents. Wipe the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth.

Never immerse the coffee maker in water.

The water tank filter (S) can be reached through the lid (E) and should be cleaned when necessary.


When and how should I descale my DELONGHI ICM16710?

You are recommended to descale the coffee maker every 40 coffee-making cycles, especially if the water in your area is hard. The appliance will notify you when descaling is needed.

Indication for Descaling:

Models with electronic controls: The Descale button (R) will flash.

Models with switch: The AROMA button (L) and On/stand by button (M) will flash simultaneously.

Descaling Procedure:

1. Use a commercially available descaling product for drip coffee makers.

2. Dilute the descaler in the jug according to the instructions on its packaging.

3. Pour the solution into the water fill compartment.

4. Place the jug on the warming plate.

5. To start the descaling cycle:

For electronic models: Press the Descale button (R) and then press the /AUTO button (O).

For switch models: Press the On/stand by button (M) and AROMA button (L) simultaneously for more than 1.5 seconds. Let it percolate the equivalent of one cup, then turn the appliance off.

6. After the descaling cycle, rinse the appliance by operating it with water only at least 2 times (2 complete tanks of water).

The appliance resets automatically after descaling is complete.
