What should I know about the calculation history on the CASIO MJ-12SA?
• The calculation history of the CASIO MJ-12SA is cleared in any of the following cases.
• Pressing the [ON] key
• When you change the tax rate
• Auto Power Off: Left unattended for about six minutes with no key entry
• A finalize key operation and the result it produces is also a step. A finalize key is any key that shows a final result.
• You can use the calculation history to review a calculation from the beginning by pressing the [▲] key, or until 150 steps are accumulated, even if a finalize key is pressed partway through.
• The Review function is available for the first 150 steps in Calculation Memory, even if there are more steps.
• Note that you can review up to 150 steps only.
• Pressing the [▼] key scrolls from the latest step.
• Pressing the [C] key clears all steps from Calculation Memory and automatically returns to the start.
Finalizing a calculation
Finalizing a calculation means performing a key operation that produces a final calculation result. This clears any following steps that exist in a calculation history. The final result remains on the display.
How is the CASIO MJ-12SA powered?
The CASIO MJ-12SA features a Two-Way Power system, which operates on solar power and a battery. The display may dim when you are using the calculator in a location that is darker than your nearest dealer.
Important: The battery that comes with the calculator is for initial use only. It is intended to test calculator performance. This calculator is not equipped with an [OFF] switch. Instead, it switches off automatically about six minutes after the last key operation. This is called Auto Power Off. To restore power, press [ON].
Please note that Auto Power Off does not clear memory contents. It will not clear the tax rate, exchange rates, etc.
If the Auto Power Off function turns power off while a Review operation is in progress, you can press [ON] to restore power. When you do, the display will show the same value it did before power was turned off.

When you are done with a calculation in Calculation Memory, you must first finalize it. This section explains how to finalize a calculation.
Important!
• Key operations are stored in Calculation Memory as you input them.
• The contents of Calculation Memory are cleared when you press [ON]. You can hold up to 150 steps.
• Performing a calculation puts an almays in the memory of a calculation that has not been finalized.
• Each line in the example below represents one step. The memory of the CASIO MJ-12SA holds up to 150 steps.

• Pressing [▲] reviews starting from the last step, while [▼] reviews from the last step. Each press of [▲] or [▼] scrolls by one step. Holding down either key scrolls at high speed.
• You can also display a particular step in Calculation Memory by pressing any key.
Important!
• You can edit only one step.
• If you change a part of the input, press the [CORRECT] key after making the change.
• The result is always produced by the calculation. You cannot change it by inputting a value.
• You cannot make changes to function command values. You must finalize the calculation and then re-enter it from the start.
• When you start to edit a calculation, the rounding and decimal place settings that are in effect at that time are applied. Finalizing the calculation reflects these settings.
• When you edit the contents of a calculation, the rounding and decimal place settings in effect when the calculation was originally performed are not reflected.
• If an error occurs while you are inputting a calculation or editing a calculation, you can press [C] to clear the entire calculation and start again.
• Calculation speed depends on the number of steps accumulated in Calculation Memory.
What numeric display formats are available on the CASIO MJ-12SA?
Your CASIO MJ-12SA calculator has two numeric display formats.
• The CASIO MJ-12SA employs the Indian system of digit grouping. Commas are used to separate digits, making it easier to read large values.
• The MJ-12Da model uses the standard system of digit grouping. Its display uses an apostrophe to separate digits.
You can toggle between these two formats.
How do I adjust the numeric display format on the CASIO MJ-12SA?
You can select one of two different numeric display formats. The following procedure shows how to select a format through the “Setup” screen.
1. Press and hold down [AC] until SET appears.
2. Press [GT] to select the numeric display format. Each press of [GT] toggles between the two available formats. The display shows a sample value in the currently selected format.
3. Repeat step 2 to select the second format. When you press [GT] both formats are shown on the screen.
4. When you are finished, press [AC].
You can toggle between the two numeric display formats by pressing and holding the [AC] key, and then pressing the [GT] key.
