Your CASIO 5216 has several modes that you can cycle through.

• Press C to change from mode to mode. The sequence is: Timekeeping Mode -> World Time Mode -> Stopwatch Mode -> Countdown Timer Mode -> Alarm Mode -> Timekeeping Mode.

• To jump directly to the Timekeeping Mode from any other mode, hold down C.

• In any mode (except when a setting screen is on the display), press B to illuminate the display.

• The left dial hand indicates the day of the week and the current mode.

In the Timekeeping Mode, you can press D to change the digital display format. The display cycles through the following formats:

1. Month – Day

2. Hour : Minutes

3. Day of the Week

Follow these steps to set the digital time, date, and other basic settings on your CASIO 5216.

1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A until “ADJ” appears on the display. Release A, and the city code of your currently selected Home City will flash on the display, which indicates the setting screen.

2. Use D (east) and B (west) to scroll through the city codes until the one you want for your Home City is displayed. It is important to select your Home City code before changing any other setting.

3. Press C to move the flashing to the next setting in the sequence: Home City Code -> DST -> 12/24-Hour Format -> Seconds -> Hour -> Minutes -> Year -> Month -> Day -> Button Operation Tone -> Illumination Duration.

4. When the setting you want to change is flashing, use B and D to change it as described in the table below.

5. Press A to exit the setting screen. The analog time will automatically synchronize with the digital time settings you configured.

Daylight Saving Time (summer time) advances the digital time setting by one hour from Standard Time. To toggle this setting on your CASIO 5216, follow these steps:

1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A until “ADJ” appears on the display. Release A, and the Home City code will flash.

2. Press C once to display the DST setting screen (it will show either “ON” or “OFF”).

3. Press D to toggle between Daylight Saving Time (ON displayed) and Standard Time (OFF displayed).

4. Press A to exit the setting screen.

When DST is turned on, the DST indicator will appear on the Timekeeping, Alarm, and Hand Setting Mode displays.

The analog time of your CASIO 5216 is synchronized with the digital time. The analog time setting is adjusted automatically whenever you change the digital time.

The hands for the analog timepiece move to adjust to a new setting whenever any of the following occurs:

• When you change the digital time setting manually

• When you change the Home City code and/or DST setting

If the analog time does not match the digital time for any reason (such as strong magnetism or impact), you must perform a home position adjustment to match the analog setting to the digital setting.

If the analog hands are misaligned with the digital time due to strong magnetism or impact, perform the following home position adjustment procedure.

1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A for about five seconds. “ADJ” will appear after two seconds, but keep the button depressed until “H-SET” appears. You can then release the button.

2. “0:00” will flash on the display, and the hour, minute, and left dial hands should all move to the 12 o’clock position (their home positions).

3. Check the hands:

• If the hour and minute hands are not pointing to 12 o’clock, use D (+) and B (-) to adjust them.

• If the left dial hand is not in its correct position, use C to adjust it.

• Holding down D, B, or C will start high-speed movement of the respective hand. To stop high-speed movement, press any button.

4. After all hands are in their correct home positions, press A to return to the Timekeeping Mode.

After performing this adjustment, check in the Timekeeping Mode to ensure the analog hands and digital display show the same time. If they do not, repeat the home position adjustment.

To view the time in one of 48 cities (31 time zones) on your CASIO 5216, first enter the World Time Mode by pressing C. Then, press D to scroll through the city codes. The city code of the currently selected World Time City will appear for about two seconds, followed by the current time in that city.

Note: If the time shown for a city is incorrect, it may indicate a problem with your Timekeeping Mode time and/or Home City code settings. Return to the Timekeeping Mode and make the necessary adjustments.

1. In the World Time Mode, use D to display the city code whose Standard Time/Daylight Saving Time setting you want to change.

2. Hold down A for about two seconds to toggle between Daylight Saving Time (DST indicator displayed) and Standard Time (DST indicator not displayed).

The DST/Standard Time setting affects only the currently displayed city code. Other city codes are not affected. You cannot switch between Standard Time and Daylight Saving Time while UTC is selected as the city code.

The stopwatch on your CASIO 5216 measures elapsed time. The display range is 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds. To use the stopwatch, enter the Stopwatch Mode by pressing C.

Perform the following operations using the D button:

• **Start:** Press D.

• **Stop:** Press D.

• **Re-start (Resume):** Press D again.

• **Stop:** Press D again.

• **Clear (Reset to zero):** With the stopwatch stopped, press A.

The stopwatch measurement operation continues even if you exit the Stopwatch Mode.

You can set the countdown start time from 1 to 60 minutes. Follow these steps:

1. In the Countdown Timer Mode, ensure the countdown start time is displayed. If a countdown is in progress, press D to pause it and then A to reset it to the start time.

2. Hold down A until the current countdown start time begins to flash. This indicates the setting screen.

3. Use D (+) and B (-) to change the minute setting. You can set a start time from 1 to 60 minutes in 1-minute increments.

4. Press A to exit the setting screen.

After configuring the start time, you can use the countdown timer. Enter the Countdown Timer Mode by pressing C.

• Press D while in the Countdown Timer Mode to start the countdown timer.

• The countdown timer operation continues even if you exit the Countdown Timer Mode.

• To pause a countdown in progress, press D. Press D again to resume.

• To completely stop a countdown operation, first pause it by pressing D, and then press A. This returns the countdown time to its starting value.

A beeper will sound for about 10 seconds when the countdown reaches zero. You can stop the beeper by pressing any button.

Your CASIO 5216 has five daily alarms (AL1 to AL5).

1. In the Alarm Mode, use D to scroll through the alarm screens (AL1 -> AL2 -> AL3 -> AL4 -> AL5 -> SIG) until the one you want to set is displayed.

2. After you select an alarm, hold down A until the hour setting of the alarm time starts to flash. This indicates the setting screen and automatically turns the alarm on.

3. Press C to move the flashing between the hour and minute settings.

4. While a setting is flashing, use D (+) and B (-) to change it. When using the 12-hour format, ensure you set the time correctly as a.m. (no indicator) or p.m. (P indicator).

5. Press A to exit the setting screen.

Alarm Operation

The alarm sounds at the preset time for about 10 seconds, regardless of the mode the watch is in. Alarm operations are performed in accordance with the Timekeeping Mode digital time. To stop the alarm tone after it starts to sound, press any button.

To test the alarm

In the Alarm Mode, hold down D to sound the alarm.

1. In the Alarm Mode, use D to select the alarm you wish to turn on or off (AL1 through AL5).

2. Press A to toggle it on (on displayed) and off (– – displayed).

The Hourly Time Signal causes the watch to beep twice every hour on the hour.

1. In the Alarm Mode, use D to select the Hourly Time Signal (indicated by SIG).

2. Press A to toggle it on (on displayed) and off (– – displayed).

To turn on illumination manually:

In any mode (except when a setting screen is on the display), press B to turn on the LED illumination.

Illumination Precautions:

• The illumination may be hard to see when viewed under direct sunlight.

• Illumination automatically turns off whenever an alarm sounds.

• Frequent use of illumination runs down the battery.

To specify the illumination duration:

You can select either one second or three seconds as the illumination duration.

1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A until “ADJ” appears and the Home City code flashes.

2. Press C ten times until the illumination duration setting screen (LT1 or LT3) is displayed.

3. While the setting is flashing, press D to toggle between one second (LT1) and three seconds (LT3).

4. Press A to exit the setting screen.

The button operation tone sounds each time you press one of the watch’s buttons. You can turn this tone on or off.

1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A until “ADJ” appears and the Home City code flashes.

2. Press C nine times until the current button operation tone setting (KEY> or MUTE) appears.

3. Press D to toggle the setting between KEY> (tone on) and MUTE (tone off).

4. Press A to exit the setting screen.

Note: Even if you turn off the button operation tone, alarms, the Hourly Time Signal, and other beepers will still operate normally.

If you leave a screen with flashing digits on the display (a setting screen) for two or three minutes without performing any operation, the CASIO 5216 will automatically exit the setting screen.
