The LAN port on your ASUS S500SAES has two LEDs that indicate the connection status and speed. Here is what they mean:

Follow these steps to set up and turn on your ASUS S500SAES:

1. Connect an external monitor: Connect a monitor to a display output port (VGA, HDMI, or DisplayPort) on the rear panel of your computer. If your computer has a separate graphics card, connect the monitor to a port on the graphics card. Plug the monitor into a power source.

2. Connect keyboard and mouse: Connect a USB keyboard and a USB mouse to the USB ports on the rear panel.

3. Connect the power cord: Connect one end of the power cord to the power connector on the rear panel of your computer and the other end to a grounded electrical outlet.

4. Turn on your monitor.

5. Press the power button on the front of your computer.

6. Wait for the operating system to load automatically.

Your ASUS S500SAES has audio ports on both the front and rear panels to connect microphones and speakers for 2-channel, 4-channel, 5.1-channel, and 7.1-channel stereo setups.

• Headphone/Microphone on the front panel:

– The audio combo jack can be used for headphones, speakers, a headset, or an external microphone.

• Speakers on the rear panel:

– For 2-channel speakers: Connect the speaker cable to the Line Out port (lime).

– For 4-channel speakers: Connect to the Line Out port (lime) for front speakers and the Line In port (light blue) for rear speakers.

– For 5.1-channel speakers: Connect to the Line Out port (lime) for front speakers, the Line In port (light blue) for rear speakers, and the Microphone port (pink) for the center/subwoofer.

– For 7.1-channel speakers: In addition to the 5.1-channel connections, connect the side speakers to the headphone port (lime) on the front panel.

Note: When you connect an external audio device, you may need to enable it. Refer to the instructions on how to change to the external audio output.

To ensure clear audio quality when you connect an external audio device like headphones or speakers to your ASUS S500SAES, follow these steps:

1. Connect your external audio device (e.g., speaker or earphone) to the rear Line Out port. The Audio Manager screen should automatically pop up.

2. In the pop-up window, tick Front Speaker Out, then click OK.

3. If prompted again, tick Line In, then click OK. The audio output will now be from the external audio device.

Your ASUS S500SAES allows you to connect multiple external displays using its VGA, HDMI, or DisplayPort ports. To set up multiple monitors:

1. Turn off your computer.

2. Connect the two monitors to the appropriate display output ports on your computer. Also, connect the power cords for both monitors to a power source.

3. Turn on your computer.

4. From the Start menu, click Settings > System > Display.

5. Configure the settings for your displays. You can choose to duplicate your main display or extend your desktop across the monitors.

Note: For some graphics cards, only the primary display will show an image during POST (Power-On Self-Test). The dual display function works only within Windows.

To prevent physical strain and discomfort while using your ASUS S500SAES, maintain a proper posture:

• Position your chair so your elbows are at or slightly above the keyboard for a comfortable typing position.

• Adjust your chair height so your knees are slightly higher than your hips. Use a footrest if necessary.

• Sit upright with your knees, elbows, and hips at an approximate 90° angle.

• Adjust the back of your chair to firmly support the base of your spine at a slightly backward angle.

• Place the monitor directly in front of you, with the top of the screen at eye level so you look slightly downward.

• Keep the mouse close to the keyboard and use a wrist rest if needed to reduce pressure on your wrists.

• Use your computer in a well-lit area, away from sources of glare like windows.

• Take regular mini-breaks.

To insert an optical disc:

1. While the system is on, press the eject button on the drive bay cover to open the tray.

2. Place the disc on the optical drive. The label side should face outward if the desktop is positioned vertically, or face up if it’s positioned horizontally.

3. Gently push the tray to close it.

4. Select a program from the AutoPlay window to access your files. If AutoPlay is not enabled, open File Explorer from the Start menu and double-click the CD/DVD drive icon.

To remove an optical disc:

1. While the system is on, do one of the following to eject the tray:

– Press the eject button on the drive bay cover.

– From the Start menu, click File Explorer, right-click the CD/DVD drive icon, and click Eject.

2. Remove the disc from the disc tray.

If your ASUS S500SAES cannot be powered on and the power LED does not light up, try the following:

• Check if your computer is properly connected to the power outlet.

• Check if the wall outlet is functioning by plugging in another device.

• Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) is switched on. Refer to the “Turning your computer ON” section in your user guide for details.

If your speakers are not producing any sound, try these troubleshooting steps:

• Ensure that your speakers are connected to the Line out port (lime) on either the front or rear panel.

• Ensure that your computer’s system sounds are not muted. If the volume icon in the Windows notification area shows a muted symbol, click it to enable the sound.

• If it’s not muted, click the volume icon and drag the slider to adjust the volume.

• Connect your speakers to another computer to test if they are working properly.

When you start your ASUS S500SAES for the first time, a series of screens will guide you through configuring the basic settings of the Windows® 10 operating system.

1. Press the power button on your Desktop PC. Wait for a few minutes until the setup screen appears.

2. From the setup screen, pick your region and language that you want to use on your desktop PC.

3. Carefully read the License Terms, then tap I Accept.

4. Follow the onscreen instructions to configure the following basic items:

b) Snap another app using the Windows logo key + arrow keys.

Restoring your ASUS S500SAES to its original factory settings involves removing everything and reinstalling Windows. This process will erase all your personal data, so it is crucial to back up all your data before proceeding.

1. From the Start menu, click Settings > Update & security > Recovery.

2. Scroll down to the Remove everything and reinstall Windows option.

3. Under this option, click Get started.

4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the reinstallation and reset process. This may take a while to complete.
