The front panel of the ASUS S700SA includes the following components:

To set up your ASUS S700SA, follow these steps:

1. Connect an external monitor: Connect your monitor to a display output port (VGA, HDMI™, or DisplayPort) on the rear panel of your computer. If your computer has a separate graphics card, connect the monitor to a port on the graphics card. Plug the monitor into a power source.

2. Connect a USB keyboard and mouse: Connect your USB keyboard and mouse to the USB ports on the rear panel.

3. Connect the power cord: Connect one end of the power cord to the power connector on the rear panel of your computer and the other end to a grounded electrical outlet.

To turn on your ASUS S700SA after setting it up:

1. Turn your monitor ON.

2. Press the power button on the front of your computer.

3. Wait until the operating system loads automatically.

When you connect an external audio device, you may need to enable its output manually.

1. Connect an external audio device such as an earphone or speaker to the rear Line Out port. The Audio Manager screen should automatically pop up.

2. In the pop-up window, tick Front Speaker Out, then click OK.

3. If prompted again, tick Line In, then click OK. The audio output will now be from the external audio device.

Your ASUS S700SA allows you to connect multiple external displays.

1. Turn off your computer.

2. Connect two monitors to the display output ports on your computer and connect the power cords for the monitors.

3. Turn on your computer.

4. From the Start menu, click Settings > System > Display.

5. Configure the settings for your displays as desired (e.g., extend or duplicate the desktop).

Note: For some graphics cards, only the monitor set as the primary display will show an image during POST. The dual display function works only within Windows.

You can connect a High Definition TV (HDTV) to the HDMI™ port of your ASUS S700SA.

• You will need an HDMI™ cable, which is purchased separately.

• To get the best display performance, ensure your HDMI™ cable is less than 15 meters long.

Simply connect one end of the HDMI™ cable to the HDTV and the other end to the HDMI™ port on your computer.

To maintain proper posture and avoid physical discomfort, follow these tips:

• Position your chair so your elbows are at or slightly above the keyboard.

• Adjust your chair height so your knees are slightly higher than your hips. Use a footrest if necessary.

• Adjust the back of your chair to firmly support the base of your spine, angled slightly backward.

• Sit upright with your knees, elbows, and hips at an approximately 90° angle.

• Place the monitor directly in front of you, with the top of the screen even with your eye level so your eyes look slightly downward.

• Keep the mouse close to the keyboard and use a wrist rest if needed.

• Use your Desktop PC in a comfortably-lit area, away from sources of glare.

• Take regular mini-breaks.

To use the memory card reader (optional):

1. Insert the memory card into the correct card slot. A memory card is keyed to fit in only one direction; do not force it.

2. Select a program from the AutoPlay window that appears to access your files. If AutoPlay is disabled, open File Explorer and double-click the memory card drive icon.

3. When finished, right-click the memory card drive icon, click Eject, and then remove the card. To prevent data loss, always eject the card properly and do not remove it while data is being read or written.

To insert an optical disc:

1. While the system is on, press the eject button on the drive bay cover to open the tray.

2. Place the disc on the optical drive with the label side outward (if the desktop is vertical) or label side up (if horizontal).

3. Gently push the tray to close it.

4. Select a program from the AutoPlay window to access your files.

To remove an optical disc:

1. While the system is on, do one of the following to eject the tray:

• Press the eject button on the drive bay cover.

• From the Start menu, click File Explorer, right-click the CD/DVD drive icon, and click Eject.

2. Remove the disc from the disc tray.

You can manage the USB ports from the BIOS Setup.

1. Press <Delete> during startup to enter the BIOS Setup.

2. From the EZ Mode screen, press <F7> to enter the Advanced Mode.

3. Navigate to Advanced > Security > I/O Interface Security > USB Interface Security > USB Port Control.

4. Select the USB port you want to configure and press <Enter> to enable or disable it.

5. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset to save your changes.

To set a new HDD password:

1. Press <Delete> during startup to enter the BIOS Setup.

2. Press <F7> to enter Advanced Mode.

3. Go to Security > HDD Security Configuration: [name of HDD] to open the HDD Password screen.

4. Select Set Master Password and press <Enter>.

5. In the Create New Password box, type a password and press <Enter>. Confirm the password when prompted.

6. Select Set User Password and repeat step 5 to set a user password.

7. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset.

To change an existing HDD password:

1. Follow steps 1-3 above to open the HDD Password screen.

2. Select Set Master Password and press <Enter>.

3. Enter the current password, then enter and confirm the new password.

4. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset.

To install the optional Wi-Fi antenna, screw the antenna connectors into the Wi-Fi ports on the rear panel of your ASUS S700SA. For optimal performance, please note the following:

• Ensure the ASUS 2×2 dual band Wi-Fi antenna is securely installed to the Wi-Fi ports on the ASUS network card.

• Ensure the antenna is at least 20 cm away from all persons.

• Place the antenna on top of your desktop PC for the best wireless performance.

• If your desktop PC has a 1×1 network card, the 2×2 antenna will operate in 1×1 mode.

To set up a dynamic IP or PPPoE connection:

1. Open Network and Sharing Center.

2. Click Change Adapter settings.

3. Right-click on your LAN connection (Ethernet) and select Properties.

4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.

5. Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically, then click OK.

6. If you are using PPPoE, return to the Network and Sharing Center and click Set up a new connection or network.

7. Select Connect to the Internet and click Next.

8. Select Broadband (PPPoE) and click Next.

9. Follow the onscreen instructions, entering the username and password from your ISP to complete the setup.

To configure a static IP address:

1. Repeat steps 1-4 from the dynamic IP configuration guide.

2. Select Use the following IP address.

3. Enter the IP address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway provided by your service provider.

4. If needed, select Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the Preferred and Alternate DNS server addresses.

5. Click OK when done.

If your computer won’t turn on, try the following:

• Check if your computer is properly connected to the power outlet.

• Check if the wall outlet is functioning by plugging in another device.

• Check if the Power Supply Unit switch (if available) is turned on.

If your computer becomes unresponsive:

1. Press <Alt> + <Ctrl> + <Delete> simultaneously, then click Task Manager.

2. Select the program that is not responding and click End Task.

If the keyboard is also unresponsive, press and hold the Power button on the front of the computer until it shuts down. Then, press the Power button again to turn it back on.

If you have no display on your monitor, check the following:

• Ensure the monitor is powered on.

• Make sure the monitor is properly connected to the video output port on your computer.

• If your computer has a discrete graphics card, ensure the monitor is connected to a video output port on that card, not the motherboard’s onboard port.

• Check for any bent pins on the monitor video connector. If pins are bent, replace the cable.

• Confirm the monitor is properly plugged into a power source.

• Refer to your monitor’s documentation for further troubleshooting.

If only one of your multiple monitors is displaying an image, try these solutions:

• Ensure that both monitors are powered on.

• During the POST (Power-On Self-Test) process, only the monitor connected to the primary port (often VGA) might have a display. The dual display function works fully only within Windows.

• If a discrete graphics card is installed, ensure that you connect both monitors to the output ports on the graphics card.

• Check that your multiple display settings in Windows are configured correctly.

If your USB storage device is not detected:

• The first time you connect a USB device, Windows automatically installs a driver for it. Wait a few moments and then check “My Computer” or “This PC” to see if the device is detected.

• Connect your USB storage device to another computer to test if the device itself is broken or malfunctioning.

You can use the Windows 10 “Refresh your PC without affecting your files” recovery option. To use this, click Settings > Update & security > Recovery from the Start menu. Select Refresh your PC without affecting your files, and click Get started.

If there is no sound from your speakers, perform these checks:

• Ensure your speakers are connected to the Line out port (lime) on the front or rear panel.

• Check if your speaker is connected to an electrical source and turned on.

• Adjust your speakers’ volume control.

• Ensure that your computer’s system sounds are not muted. If the volume icon shows as muted, click it to enable the sound. Adjust the volume slider as needed.

• Connect your speakers to another computer to test if the speakers are working properly.

If the DVD drive has trouble reading a disc:

• Check if the disc is placed with the label side facing up.

• Check if the disc is centered in the tray, especially for discs with non-standard sizes or shapes.

• Check if the disc is scratched or damaged.

When you start your ASUS S700SA for the first time, a series of screens will guide you through configuring the basic settings of your Windows® 10 operating system.

1. Press the power button on your Desktop PC. Wait for a few minutes until the setup screen appears.

2. From the setup screen, pick your region and language.

3. Carefully read the License Terms, then tap I Accept.

4. Follow the onscreen instructions to configure the following basic items:

• Personalize

• Get online

• Settings

• Your account

5. Wait until Windows® 10 finishes installing the apps and system settings. After the installation, the Windows® 10 desktop appears.

Restoring your PC to its original factory settings can be done using the “Remove everything and reinstall Windows” option. Warning: This will delete all your data. Back up your data before proceeding.

1. From the Start menu, click Settings > Update & security > Recovery.

2. Under the “Remove everything and reinstall Windows” option, click Get started.

3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the reinstallation and reset process.
