Please follow these appliance-specific safety precautions for your V-ZUG GK46TIXSC hob:

• WARNING: If the surface is cracked or there is damage to the material thickness, the appliance must be switched off and disconnected from the electricity supply to avoid a possible electric shock.

• WARNING: During use, the appliance and its exposed parts become hot. Please be careful to avoid the exposed parts of the heating elements.

• Never use a steam cleaner.

• Objects made of metal, e.g. knives, forks, spoons, covers or aluminium foil, should not be put on the hob as they can become hot.

• WARNING: Leaving fat or oil unattended on the hob can be dangerous and can lead to fires. NEVER try to extinguish a fire with water. Instead, switch the appliance off and then carefully cover the flames with an object such as a cover or a fire blanket.

• WARNING: Never leave objects on the hob as they pose a fire hazard.

• The appliance must not be operated with an external time switch or a separate remote control system.

To avoid damaging your V-ZUG GK46TIXSC hob, please adhere to the following guidelines:

• In the case of thermal failure, switch the solid plate off and allow it to cool down completely. Do not put any dishes on it. Do not cool with cold water under any circumstances.

• Do not climb onto the appliance.

• To avoid damaging the silicon grouting, do not put hot cookware on the frame.

• Do not cut or prepare food on the surface or drop hard objects onto it. Do not drag cookware across the surface.

• Make sure that no sugary foods or juices end up on the hot cooking zones. This can damage the surface. If sugary foods or juices do end up on the hot cooking zones, remove these immediately with a glass ceramic hob scraper (while the hob is still hot).

• Do not leave the appliance unattended during operation.

• Pots with pure copper or aluminium bases should not be used for cooking as they leave behind traces that can be difficult to clean. If the traces are not removed immediately after cooking with a suitable cleaning agent, they can be permanently burned on and therefore permanently ruin the visual appearance of the appliance.

• Sliding pots and cookware across the glass ceramic causes scratches. You can largely avoid these by lifting pots and cookware when putting them into place.

• The hob is an item for daily use: signs of usage such as scratches or visible material abrasion from pots or cookware are normal. Intensive use leads to more distinctive signs of usage. In such cases, the appliance continues to function perfectly and a complaint is not justified. Safety is always guaranteed.

• There is no such thing as completely scratch-proof glass; scratches can even develop on sapphire glass, which is used in watches. The glass ceramic used is of the best quality available on the market.

The identification plate, which includes the serial number (FN), and the connection plate are located on the underside of the V-ZUG GK46TIXSC hob. A second identification plate is supplied and should be affixed in the fitted unit underneath the hob for easier access.

The V-ZUG GK46TIXSC features the following buttons and displays:

Buttons:

• Power symbol (circle with a vertical line): Device ON/OFF.

• 0 . . . . . . . . P: Slider to set the power level.

• P: PowerPlus function.

• ||: Pause cooking ON/OFF and restore function.

• Hand symbol: Wipe protection ON/OFF.

• Square with dot: Select the cooking zone.

• Clock symbol: Operating time/timer.

Displays:

• 1: Power level of the cooking zone.

• 2: Selection point: cooking zone selected.

• 3: Operating time activated.

• 4: Cooking zone indicator light for the operating time.

• 5: Operating time/timer display.

• 6: Pause activated/restoration of saved setting possible indicator.

• 7: Wipe protection activated indicator.

Every cooking zone on the V-ZUG GK46TIXSC is equipped with pan detection, which recognizes cookware with a magnetisable base suitable for induction cooking.

• If cookware is removed during operation or unsuitable cookware is used, the selected power level flashes alternately with the ‘U’ symbol.

• If no cookware is placed on the cooking zone during the pan detection time of 10 minutes:

– The cooking zone switches off automatically.

– The display changes from ‘U’ to ‘0’.

– The appliance switches off after 10 seconds if no other cooking zone is switched on.

Suitable Cookware:

Only use cookware with a full magnetic base. You can check this in two ways:

• A magnet sticks anywhere on the base of the cookware.

• On the hob, the power level you set illuminates and does not alternate with the ‘U’ symbol.

Do not heat any unsuitable cookware using aids such as metal rings, as this can damage the hob.

Coated Cookware:

• Coated cookware, when empty, should never be heated at a power level higher than 7. The coating may otherwise become overheated and damaged.

• For frying, do not use a power level higher than 9.

• Never use the PowerPlus function with coated frying pans.

Noise during cooking:

Cookware can make noise during cooking, which is normal and does not affect the appliance’s function. The noise depends on the cookware used. If it is a considerable disturbance, changing the cookware can help.

For maximum energy efficiency and even heat distribution on your V-ZUG GK46TIXSC, please note the following:

• The base of the cookware must be clean, dry, and smooth.

• Centre the cookware in the middle of the cooking zone.

• Use a well-fitting lid.

• Match the diameter of the cookware to the quantity of food to be cooked.

To switch the appliance on:

• Depress the ON/OFF button (circle with a vertical line) for 1 second. ‘0’ will flash in all the power level displays. If no other entry is made, the appliance switches off again after about 10 seconds for safety reasons.

To switch the appliance off:

• Touch the ON/OFF button.

1. Press the selection button (square with a dot) for the required cooking zone. A ‘0’ will flash in the corresponding power level display, and the selection point for that zone will illuminate.

2. Touch the slider or swipe it to set the desired power level.

Note: Settings for a cooking zone can only be changed when its corresponding selection point is illuminated. If it goes out, you must select the cooking zone again.

Keep Warm Setting (L):

The keep warm setting ‘L’ keeps ready-cooked foods warm at approximately 65 °C. It can be found between power levels ‘0’ and ‘1’ on the slider.

Melting Function:

This function gently melts items like butter, chocolate, or honey at 40 °C.

• To switch on: Select a cooking zone, then hold power level ‘L’ on the slider for 2 seconds. Two horizontal bars ‘=’ will illuminate in the power level display.

• To switch off: Use the slider to set any other power level.

Simmer Function:

This function cooks items like sausages or pasta below boiling point at about 94 °C.

• To switch on: Select a cooking zone, then press the level ‘L’ on the slider for 4 seconds. Three cross pieces will illuminate in the power level display.

• To switch off: Set any power level using the slider.

The PowerPlus booster provides extra high power for 10 minutes, for example, to heat a large quantity of water quickly. All cooking zones are equipped with this feature.

Switching PowerPlus on:

1. Press the button for the required cooking zone.

2. Touch the slider past ‘9’ to ‘P’. ‘P’ is illuminated in the display.

After 10 minutes, the power automatically reverts to level 9. If cookware is removed, PowerPlus is interrupted and continues once the cookware is placed back on the zone.

Ending PowerPlus before time:

1. Press the button for the cooking zone.

2. Touch the required power level on the slider.

Power Management:

PowerPlus cannot be used for both cooking zones of a group (A: front-left and rear-left, or B: front-right and rear-right) at the same time. If PowerPlus is activated for one zone in a group, the maximum power of the other zone is limited. If you raise the power level of the second zone above this limit, PowerPlus on the first zone will switch off.

With Automatic Boost, a cooking zone works at power level 9 for a certain length of time before automatically switching back to the power level you originally set. This function must be activated anew each time a cooking zone is switched on.

Switching the automatic boost on:

1. Press the button for the required cooking zone.

2. Press the required power level on the slider for 3 seconds.

As long as the automatic boost is active, ‘A’ and the selected power level will illuminate alternately in the display. After the boost time ends, the heat output is reduced to the selected power level.

Switching the automatic boost off before time:

1. Press the button for the required cooking zone.

2. Set a lower power level using the slider.

The operating time function switches a cooking zone off automatically after a set time from 1-99 minutes.

Setting the operating time:

1. Set the required cooking zone and power level.

2. Press the button for the required cooking zone.

3. Press the operating time button (clock symbol). ’00’ appears in the display and the second digit flashes.

4. Set the second digit using the slider.

5. Press the operating time button again. The first digit flashes.

6. Set the first digit using the slider.

7. Press the operating time button one more time. The operating time starts.

Changing the operating time:

1. Press the button for the required cooking zone. The remaining operating time is displayed.

2. Press the operating time button.

3. Change the second digit using the slider.

4. Press the operating time button.

5. Change the first digit using the slider.

6. Press the operating time button. The changed operating time starts.

Switching the operating time off before time:

Set both digits of the operating time to ‘0’ using the slider and the operating time button.

End of operating time:

After the time has ended, the assigned cooking zone switches off, an acoustic signal is emitted, and ’00’ flashes. Switch off the signal and displays by pressing any button.

The timer functions like an egg timer for 1-99 minutes. It can only be set when a cooking zone is in operation. However, a cooking zone can be put into operation while the timer is running, but no operating time can be set for it.

Setting the timer:

1. Switch on the appliance.

2. Press the timer button (clock symbol). ’00’ appears and the second digit flashes.

3. Set the second digit using the slider.

4. Press the timer button. The first digit flashes.

5. Set the first digit using the slider.

6. Press the timer button. The timer starts.

Switching the timer off before time:

• If no cooking zone is in operation: Turn the appliance on and off again.

• If a cooking zone is in operation: Press the timer button and set both digits to ‘0’ using the slider.

The childproof lock prevents the appliance from being accidentally switched on.

Switching the childproof lock on:

1. Switch the appliance on.

2. Ensure all cooking zones are switched off.

3. Touch the Pause cooking button (||) and the Wipe protection button (hand symbol) at the same time. An acoustic signal is emitted.

4. Touch the Pause cooking button (||) again. An acoustic signal is emitted, and a lock symbol illuminates in all power level displays for 10 seconds. The childproof lock is now switched on.

Operating the appliance with the childproof lock activated:

1. Switch the appliance on.

2. Touch the Pause cooking button (||) and the Wipe protection button (hand symbol) at the same time. An acoustic signal is emitted. The lock is overridden, and the appliance can be used as normal. The lock automatically reactivates after switching off the hob.

Switching the childproof lock off permanently:

1. Switch on the appliance. No cooking zone must be in operation.

2. Touch the Pause cooking button (||) and the Wipe protection button (hand symbol) at the same time. An acoustic signal is emitted.

3. Press the Wipe protection button (hand symbol) again. A double acoustic signal is emitted, and ‘0’ flashes for 10 seconds. The childproof lock is now switched off.

Restore function:

If the appliance was switched off accidentally with the ON/OFF button, the settings can be restored within 6 seconds.

• Switch on the appliance. The illuminated point for the Pause button (||) flashes.

• Press the Pause button (||) to restore the previous settings.

Pause cooking:

This function temporarily reduces the power level of all active cooking zones to level 1 for up to 10 minutes.

• Press the Pause button (||) to activate. The indicator light for the button illuminates.

• Press the Pause button (||) again to resume cooking with the previous settings.

If the function is not turned off within 10 minutes, the appliance switches off completely.

Wipe protection:

This function prevents the power level from being changed accidentally, for instance when wiping the control panel.

• Press the Wipe protection button (hand symbol). The indicator light for the button illuminates and the controls are locked for 30 seconds.

• Wipe protection is switched off by pressing the button again or automatically after 30 seconds. You can press the main ON/OFF button at any time to switch the appliance off.

Preferably, do not clean the appliance until it is cold to avoid a burns hazard. Clean the hob after every use to prevent food residues from burning on.

• Do not clean the glass ceramic surface with scouring cleaning agents, all-purpose scouring pads, or steel wool, as this can damage the surface.

• For everyday dirt, use a soft cloth or sponge with water and a suitable cleaning agent. Follow the manufacturer’s advice for cleaning agents. Using protective cleaning agents is recommended.

• Remove encrusted dirt, like boiled-over milk, with a glass ceramic hob scraper while the hob is still warm. Follow the scraper manufacturer’s advice.

• Remove sugary foods, like marmalade, with a glass ceramic hob scraper while the hob is still warm to prevent damage.

• Remove melted plastic with a glass ceramic hob scraper while the hob is still warm to prevent damage.

• Remove limescale stains with a small amount of lime-dissolving solution, like vinegar or lemon juice, when the hob has cooled down. Then clean again with a damp cloth.

If your V-ZUG GK46TIXSC hob is not working and the displays are dark, check the following:

• The fuse or circuit breaker for your home’s electrical installation is defective: Try to change the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.

• The fuse or circuit breaker keeps blowing: Call Customer Services.

• There is an interruption in the power supply: Check your power supply.

This indicates a pan detection issue.

• Cookware is not suitable for induction hobs: Use suitable magnetic cookware.

• Cookware is too small for the selected cooking zone: Ensure the cookware corresponds to the size of the cooking zone.

This means the childproof lock is activated. To operate the appliance, you must first override the childproof lock. To disable it permanently, follow the instructions for switching the childproof lock off.

This can be caused by a few issues related to the control panel:

• A button or a slider was touched for longer than 10 seconds.

• An object (e.g., pan, dish) is on the control panel.

• Food has boiled over onto the control panel.

To resolve this, remove the object or clean the food that has boiled over. The appliance can then be used again as normal.

This indicates that the automatic safety shut-off was triggered. If a cooking zone has been running for a long time without any settings being changed, the appliance switches it off automatically. The time this takes depends on the power level set. You can switch the cooking zone back on again if required.

A flashing ‘H’ indicates that the excess temperature protection of a cooking zone was triggered.

• Allow the cooking zone to cool down.

• Continue cooking on a different cooking zone.

• Check your cookware to ensure it is suitable and not damaged.

This indicates an interruption in the power supply. Press any button to quit the error message. The appliance can then be used again as normal.

This error code could be caused by two issues:

• An object underneath the hob is affecting air intake: Remove any objects (e.g., paper) in the drawer underneath the hob. Press any button to cancel the error message. After 10 minutes, the appliance can be used again as normal.

• Ventilation is defective: If the problem persists, note down the error number and the serial number (FN) from the identification plate and call Customer Services.

This indicates an internal error has occurred.

• Note down the error number.

• Note down the serial number (FN) of the appliance from the identification plate.

• Call Customer Services.
