If you smell gas, follow these steps immediately:

• Do not try to light any appliance.

• Do not touch any electrical switch; do not use any phone in your building.

• Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions.

• If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.

Please adhere to the following safety precautions:

• Installation and repair should be done only by a qualified service person. The appliance requires annual inspection to maintain its warranty.

• The glass surface gets very hot. Do not touch the glass until it is completely cooled. Never allow children to touch the glass.

• Alert children and adults to the hazards of high surface temperatures. Supervise young children when they are in the same room as the appliance.

• Do not place clothing or other flammable materials on or near the fireplace.

• Keep the area around the appliance clear of combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids.

• Clean the glass only when it is cool and with non-abrasive cleansers.

• Do not operate the fireplace if the glass is removed, cracked, or broken.

• If any part of the fireplace has been underwater, do not use it. Call a qualified service technician immediately to inspect and replace any necessary parts.

• Under no circumstances should solid fuels like wood, coal, paper, or cardboard be used in this appliance.

The specifications for the STELLAR HEARTH 6-PR-3-GL are as follows:

The minimum clearances to combustible materials are as follows:

Other Clearance Notes:

• No combustible material is allowed within 6 inches of the top of the fireplace.

• No combustible material is allowed within 1 inch around the B-Vent flue.

• Combustible finishing materials may cover the 3-inch top and bottom black trim, but must not overlap the glass.

• Combustible framing is allowed right up to the fireplace below the viewing area only.

• A combustible mantel may be placed at the top of the viewing area, but must not overlap the glass.

• Do not place the fireplace on carpet, vinyl, or other soft surfaces.

Before framing, you need to install the standoffs and nailing tabs.

Standoff Installation:

1. The fireplace is shipped with four (4) standoffs in a flat state on the firebox top. Locate the standoffs and loosen the screws holding them in place.

2. Fold the center of the standoff up and both ends out at the perforated lines.

3. Locate the second pre-installed screw on the firebox top for each standoff. Remove this screw.

4. Pivot the folded standoff into position and re-install the screw to secure it. Tighten the screw that was loosened in step 1.

Nailing Tab Installation:

1. The eight (8) nailing tabs are shipped flat, placed on the firebox side (four on each side). Locate the tabs and remove the screws holding them.

2. Bend the two small tabs out on each nailing tab at the perforated lines.

3. Set each nailing tab into its pre-drilled holes on the firebox side and secure it with two (2) screws each.

4. Bend the main part of the nailing tab out from the fireplace at the perforated line. These tabs ensure the 1-inch minimum clearance to combustible framing is maintained.

The hood must be supported at specific locations using 1/4-20 UNC threaded rods. Temporary support brackets are provided for shipping and initial support, but must not be removed until the fireplace hood is fully supported by the threaded rods.

The STELLAR HEARTH 6-PR-3-GL requires a minimum of two (2) threaded rods at the front and back left-hand corner glass-to-glass intersections. Six (6) additional locations are available for optional support if needed.

Required Threaded Rod Dimensions for 6-PR models:

• I (distance from side): 5 inches (127 mm)

• J (distance from front): 6-7/8 inches (175 mm)

• K (distance between optional rods): 26-7/8 inches (683 mm)

Example Installation using Unistrut:

1. Install a Unistrut or similar support secured to structurally sound framing above the fireplace.

2. Install the threaded rod fully into the threaded fastener on top of the fireplace.

3. Insert the threaded rod through a hole in the Unistrut directly above the fastener.

4. Use a fender washer and nut on the top end of the rod to adjust the height. Ensure the opening dimension is exact all the way around. Use Loctite to secure the nut.

5. Level the fireplace. Once fully supported and leveled, you may remove the temporary shipping support brackets.

The framing dimensions for the STELLAR HEARTH 6-PR-3-GL model are as follows, assuming 1/2″ drywall and non-combustible board are used. The fireplace is not load-bearing.

Important Framing Notes:

• Framing should be built after the fireplace is installed, or extra clearance must be planned for the intake collar and material thickness.

• No combustible material is allowed within 6 inches of the top of the fireplace.

• No combustible material is allowed within 1 inch of the sides, back, and front of the fireplace.

• Do not place combustible material directly on the face of the fireplace, top, and sides.

Glass removal and installation must be performed by two people using quality suction cups. Do not attempt this when the glass is hot.

To Install the Glass Frame Assembly:

Inner Glass:

1. Unwrap the panes of glass, carefully protecting the edges.

2. Apply suction cups to the inner glass assembly.

3. Lift the glass into place. Slip the top edge into the top groove, then lift until the bottom edge clears the bottom trim. Slide the glass down into the inner bottom groove.

4. Push the vertical glass trim pieces into place on each side.

5. Place the long horizontal trim piece between the lower glass clips and slide it back against the vertical trim pieces.

Outer Glass:

6. Apply suction cups to the outer, unframed glass and lift it into place in the same manner as the inner glass.

To Remove the Glass Frame Assembly:

1. Apply suction cups to the outer glass panel.

2. Gently lift the glass until the bottom edge is clear of the groove it sits in.

3. Bring the bottom edge of the glass towards you while lowering it to disengage it from the top groove.

4. Set the glass on a padded surface to protect its edges.

5. Remove the lower horizontal trim piece that sits between the layers of glass.

6. Remove the inner vertical trim pieces.

7. Using the suction cups, remove the inner glass in the same manner.

This fireplace can be used with Natural Gas (NG) or Propane (LP). Gas line installation must be done by a qualified person in accordance with local codes.

The STELLAR HEARTH 6-PR-3-GL (a 6-foot model) has the following venting requirements:

• B-Vent Size: 10 inches

• Outside Air Intake Size: 10 inches

• Standard Powervent: RS014

• In-Line Powervent: RSIF180

General Venting Rules:

• Use only UL/CSA approved B-Vent. Do not decrease the vent size.

• Vent runs are approved for up to 110 feet with up to eleven 90-degree elbows.

• All pipe and elbow joints, including the longitudinal seam on the pipe, must be sealed with High Temp RTV Silicone and/or foil tape.

• Vent runs may contain a downward component (drop). The maximum drop for a 10″ pipe is about 92 inches. Every inch of vertical drop counts as three inches subtracted from the total allowed vent run length.

• Once a downward component is used, the vent cannot go upwards again to prevent moisture from being trapped.

To change the air intake location, follow these steps:

1. Remove the four (4) screws that hold the collar plate in place on the side of the fireplace.

2. Slide the collar plate off the fireplace.

3. Turn the plate so the collar is facing down, then slide the plate back into the slots on the bottom of the fireplace.

4. Re-attach the plate with the four screws removed in step 1.

This fireplace is equipped with an automatic ignition device. Do not try to light the pilot by hand.

Before lighting, smell all around the appliance for gas, especially near the floor.

To light the fireplace:

1. Activate the switch.

2. The fireplace has a pre and post timer set at the factory for 30 seconds. The powervent will start after the switch is activated.

3. The flame will not turn on for 30-60 seconds after the switch is activated.

4. The powervent will continue to run for 30 seconds after the fireplace has been shut off.

If the fireplace does not light, follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Turn off the fireplace at the switch.

2. Turn off all electrical power to the fireplace.

3. Wait five (5) minutes to allow any gas that may have accumulated inside the firebox to escape. If you then smell gas, STOP! Follow the safety information on the front cover of the manual. If you don’t smell gas, proceed to the next step.

4. Turn ON all electrical power to the fireplace.

5. Turn the fireplace on at the switch.

If the fireplace still will not operate, follow instructions for turning off the gas to the fireplace and call your service technician or the gas supplier.

The appliance must be isolated from the gas supply piping system during any pressure testing at pressures equal to or less than 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa) by closing its individual manual shut-off valve.

To test the inlet pressure:

1. The valve has an allen-plug on the inlet and outlet.

2. Install a barb fitting on the tap you want to measure.

3. Light the fireplace and check the pressure.

4. Turn off the fireplace and reinstall the plug.

5. Check for leaks.

Note: If the inlet pressure reading is too high or too low, contact the gas company. Only a qualified gas service technician should adjust incoming gas pressure.

Follow these steps to install the media:

1. Place the supplied glass media into the base tray.

2. Cover the base evenly. Do not use more than the supplied amount.

3. Do not get any glass media into the pilot area, as a hazardous condition could result.

4. You should be able to see the burner slightly through the media. Do not completely cover the burners, as this will result in poor flame appearance.

Do not substitute the supplied media with any other kind of media without written approval from Stellar Hearth Products.

The appliance must be inspected at least once a year by a professional service person.

General Maintenance:

• The compartment below the firebox (behind the lower access panel) must be cleaned at least once a year. More frequent cleaning may be needed due to excessive lint from carpeting, bedding, etc.

• The burner must be cleaned once a year.

• Control compartments, burners, and circulation air passageways must be kept clean.

Vent System:

• The venting system requires an annual examination by a qualified agency.

• The flow of combustion air must not be obstructed.

Glass Cleaning & Replacement:

• Do not remove the glass until it has cooled to room temperature.

• Clean the glass only when it is cool and use only non-abrasive cleansers.

• Do not operate the fireplace with the glass assembly removed, cracked, or broken.

• Replacement of the glass assembly must be performed by a licensed or qualified service person.
