What should I do before using my MIELE KM 7697 FR for the first time?

Before using your MIELE KM 7697 FR for the first time, you should perform the following steps:

1. Please stick the extra data plate for the appliance supplied with this documentation in the space provided in the “Service” section of the booklet. Alternatively, the additional label can be stuck near the appliance if the appliance markings are not visible after installation.

2. Remove any protective wrapping and stickers (except the data plate).

3. Clean the cooktop with a damp cloth only and then wipe dry.

When switching on the cooktop for the first time, you may notice a slight smell from the protective coating on the metal components and induction coils. This is normal and not hazardous to health. The smell will dissipate with use.

How do I connect my MIELE KM 7697 FR to my Wi-Fi network using the Miele App?

To connect your MIELE KM 7697 FR using the Miele App, ensure you have a home Wi-Fi network and have downloaded the app. You will need your Wi-Fi network password and the cooktop’s password (the last nine digits of the serial number, found on the data plate).

1. Install the Miele App on your mobile device.

2. Switch the cooktop on.

3. Place an induction-compatible pan on the cooktop.

4. Start the Miele App.

5. Touch and hold the 0 and 5 sensor controls on the numerical keybank at the same time for 6 seconds. The seconds will count down in the timer display.

6. When the time has elapsed, the code C:01 will be displayed in the timer display for 10 seconds. You now have 10 minutes to configure the Wi-Fi.

7. Follow the instructions in the Miele App to complete the setup.

How do I connect my MIELE KM 7697 FR to my Wi-Fi network using WPS?

To connect using WPS, you must have a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) compatible router.

1. Switch the cooktop on.

2. Place an induction-compatible pan on the cooktop.

3. Touch and hold the 0 and 6 sensor controls on the numerical keybank at the same time for 6 seconds. The timer display will show a countdown.

4. After the countdown, a progress light will appear during the connection attempt (max. 120 seconds). The WPS login is only active during this time.

5. Activate the WPS function on your router.

If the connection is successful, C:02 appears in the timer display. If it fails, C:01 will appear, likely because WPS was not activated on the router quickly enough. Repeat the steps if necessary.

How do I reset the Wi-Fi settings on my MIELE KM 7697 FR?

How do I clean the ceramic surface of my MIELE KM 7697 FR?

To keep your cooktop in good condition, clean it after every use once it has cooled down.

Daily cleaning:

1. Remove any coarse soiling with a damp cloth. For stubborn soiling, use a glass scraper.

2. Clean the ceramic surface with a proprietary ceramic glass cleaning agent, like the Miele ceramic and stainless steel cooktop cleaner. Do not apply cleaner while the cooktop is hot.

3. Finally, wipe the cooktop with a damp cloth and dry it with a soft, dry cloth to prevent limescale residue.

Cleaning sugar, plastic, or aluminium foil spills:

These can damage the ceramic surface if they melt and cool down. Act immediately.

1. First, switch off the appliance.

2. While the surface is still hot, carefully scrape off the residues using a shielded scraper blade suitable for glass. Wear oven gloves for protection.

3. Afterwards, clean the ceramic surface in its cooled state, as described in the daily cleaning section.

Unsuitable cleaning agents:

Do not use washing-up liquid, abrasive cleaners, solvent-based agents, dishwasher cleaner, or hard/abrasive sponges, as these can damage the surface.

What should I do if a message appears in the display of my MIELE KM 7697 FR?

The following table explains common messages and their remedies:

Problem Possible cause and remedy
Err flashes alternately with 30 and a tone sounds. The cooktop is incorrectly connected. Disconnect the cooktop from the electricity supply and contact Miele for correct connection.
LOC appears after switching on. The system lock or safety lock is activated. Deactivate the lock.
dE appears after switching on and the cooktop does not heat up. The cooktop is in demonstration mode. Touch the 0 sensor on any numerical keybank, then touch the 0 and 2 sensors at the same time until dE flashes alternately with OFF.
The cooktop switches off and F appears above the On/Off sensor. One or more sensors are covered (e.g., by a spill or object). Clean the dirt or remove the object.
Err flashes alternately with 044. The overheating protection mechanism has been activated. See “Safety features – Overheating protection”.
Err flashes alternately with 047, 048 or 049. The cooling fan is blocked or defective. Check for and remove any obstructions. If the fault persists, contact Miele.
E-digit (e.g., E-0) flashes alternately with 120, 121, etc. The cooling fan is blocked or defective. Check for and remove any obstructions. If the fault persists, contact Miele.
A message not listed appears. There is an electronic unit fault. Interrupt the power supply to the cooktop for approx. 1 minute. If the problem persists, contact Miele.

What should I do if my MIELE KM 7697 FR exhibits unexpected behaviour?

Refer to the table below for common issues and solutions:

Problem Possible cause and remedy
When you place a pan on the cooktop, the numerical keybank does not appear. The pan is too small to be detected in that position. Reposition the pan or use a different, larger pan. The pan may also be unsuitable for induction. Use suitable pans.
The ‘pot position’ symbol (looks like a crosshair) lights up. The pans are too close together. Reposition the pans further apart. Move them one after the other, not at the same time.
You reposition a pan and the set power level starts to flash. The pan cannot be detected. Touch the flashing power level. If it continues to flash, reposition the pan again.
An area switches itself off automatically. It has been operated for too long, triggering the safety switch-off. Set a power level again.
An area or the whole cooktop switches off automatically. The overheating protection mechanism has been activated. Allow it to cool down.
The Booster has automatically switched off early. The overheating protection mechanism has been activated. Allow it to cool down.

Why doesn’t the food in the pan heat up properly on my MIELE KM 7697 FR?

If you are experiencing unsatisfactory cooking results, consider the following:

Problem: The food hardly heats up, or not at all, when Auto heat-up is on.

β€’ Cause: There is too much food in the pan.

β€’ Remedy: Start cooking at the highest power level and then manually turn it down to a lower one later on.

β€’ Cause: The pan is not conducting heat properly.

β€’ Remedy: Use a different pan which is better able to conduct heat (e.g., one with a quality sandwich base).

Problem: There are slight differences in cooking durations and browning in comparable processes.

β€’ Cause: This is not a fault. The pan base material and the positions of the pans on the cooktop affect the power of the induction coils, which in turn affects the cooking behaviour.

What should I do if my MIELE KM 7697 FR cooktop cannot be switched on?

If the cooktop cannot be switched on, there is likely an issue with the power supply.

Cause: There is no power to the cooktop.

β€’ Remedy: Check if the circuit breaker has tripped. Contact an electrician or Miele if you are unsure.

Cause: There may be a technical fault.

β€’ Remedy: Disconnect the cooktop from the mains electricity supply for approximately 1 minute. You can do this by switching it off at the wall socket and withdrawing the plug, or by switching off the mains circuit breaker.

β€’ If, after restoring power, the cooktop still does not switch on, contact a qualified electrician or Miele.
