The MIELE G 7936 dishwasher is intended for use in the home and in similar environments, for example:

– in shops, offices, and similar work settings

– on agricultural estates

– by guests in hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, and other typical home settings.

This dishwasher is not suitable for outdoor use.

This dishwasher is intended for use at altitudes of up to 13,000 ft (4,000 m) above sea level.

This dishwasher must only be used for cleaning domestic dishes and cutlery. All other types of use are not permitted.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge.

Children must be kept away from the dishwasher unless they are constantly supervised.

Children must not be allowed to clean or maintain the appliance.

Children should be supervised in the vicinity of the dishwasher. Never allow children to play with the dishwasher. There is a danger that children might shut themselves in the dishwasher.

If the automatic door opening mechanism (AutoOpen) is active, keep young children away from the area in which the door opens. There is a danger of injury in the unlikely event of a fault with the opening mechanism.

Danger of suffocation. While playing, children may become entangled in packaging material (such as plastic wrapping) or pull it over their head with the risk of suffocation. Keep packaging material away from children.

Keep children away from detergents. Detergents cause severe skin burns and severe eye damage. They can cause burning in the mouth and throat, or inhibit breathing. It is therefore important to keep children away from the dishwasher when the door is open. Detergent residues could still be present in the machine. Seek medical advice immediately if a child has swallowed or inhaled any detergents.

Unauthorized installation, maintenance, and repairs can cause considerable danger. These should only be carried out by a Miele authorized technician.

Damage to the dishwasher can compromise your safety. Before using the dishwasher, especially after transport, check it for any visible damage. Never use a damaged dishwasher.

The electrical safety of the dishwasher is only guaranteed when correctly grounded. If in doubt, the electrical installation should be checked by a qualified service technician.

Ensure that the connection data on the dishwasher’s data plate (fuse rating, frequency, and voltage) match the household electricity supply.

Do not connect the dishwasher to the electricity supply until it has been fully installed and the door springs have been adjusted.

The dishwasher may only be operated if the door opening mechanism is working correctly.

Power bars and extension cords do not guarantee the required safety of the appliance (risk of fire). Do not use them to connect the dishwasher.

Do not install the dishwasher in a room where there is a risk of frost. Frozen hoses can tear or burst.

The built-in Miele Waterproof system offers protection against water damage if installation is correct, the dishwasher is properly maintained, and the water supply faucet is turned off during long absences.

The water-connection pressure needs to be between 7.25 and 145 psi (50 and 1,000 kPa).

If the power cord is damaged, it must only be replaced with a specific cord of the same type by a Miele authorized technician.

The dishwasher must be installed and connected in compliance with the supplied installation sheet.

Be careful during installation. Some metal parts pose a risk of injury/being cut. Wear protective gloves.

Ensure the dishwasher is installed so that the door is not blocked when it opens automatically (AutoOpen function).

The dishwasher must be correctly aligned horizontally for problem-free operation.

For stability, built-under and integrated dishwashers must be installed under a continuous countertop secured to adjacent cabinetry.

The door springs must be evenly adjusted on both sides so the door remains stationary when left half open (approx. 45° opening angle) and does not fall open.

Do not use solvents in the dishwasher; there is a danger of explosion.

Dishwasher detergents can cause chemical burns. Avoid contact, do not inhale powder, and do not swallow. Seek medical attention immediately if detergent has been swallowed or inhaled.

Avoid leaving the dishwasher door open unnecessarily to prevent injury or tripping.

Do not sit, stand, or lean on the open door, as the dishwasher could tip over.

Dishes may be very hot at the end of a program. Allow them to cool before unloading.

Only use detergent and rinse aid formulated for domestic dishwashers. Do not use liquid dish soap.

Do not use commercial or industrial detergents due to the risk of material damage and severe explosive chemical reactions.

Do not fill the rinse aid reservoir or AutoDos with powder or liquid detergent. Loose detergent will damage the AutoDos. Do not fill the salt reservoir with powder or liquid detergent as it will damage the softener assembly.

Use only special, coarse-grained reactivation salt for the water softener.

For safety, knives and forks in a cutlery basket should be placed with handles upwards.

Do not clean plastic items that cannot withstand hot water, as they may melt or lose shape.

Opening the door:

To open the door, reach under the recessed grip and pull the handle hard.

Open the door fully to disengage the locking mechanism.

In some programs, the door automatically opens slightly to aid drying (AutoOpen function). At the end of these programs, the door locking rail automatically retracts. The rail must be fully retracted before you close the door again. Do not hold the door locking rail when it is retracting.

Closing the door:

Push the baskets in.

Raise the door upward until the catch engages.

Be careful not to shut your fingers in the door when closing it.

The safety lock prevents children from opening the dishwasher door. To activate it:

To lock the door, push the slide underneath the recessed grip to the right.

To unlock the door, push the slide to the left.

1. Turn the dishwasher on using the On/Off sensor control. The welcome screen will appear.

2. Set the language: The display will automatically go to the language setting screen. Select your desired language and country if applicable.

3. Set up Miele@home (optional): If prompted, you can choose to connect the dishwasher to your WiFi network now by selecting ‘Continue’ or postpone it by selecting ‘Skip’.

4. Set the time: The display will change to the time setting screen. Set the current hours and minutes and confirm with OK. The time must be set to use the timer option.

5. Set the water hardness: The dishwasher must be programmed to the correct water hardness for your area. Your local water authority can provide this information. Set the correct water hardness level and confirm with OK.

6. Activate AutoDos: The display will change to the AutoDos settings screen. You can choose to activate it now or use manual dispensing. Make your selection and confirm with OK.

7. After these steps, you may be prompted to add salt and rinse aid. Add them if necessary and confirm the messages. The display will then change to the Programs menu.

Reactivation salt is needed for water hardness levels above 5 gpg (5 °dH) to achieve good cleaning results. Use only special, coarse-grained reactivation salt.

1. Remove the lower basket from the wash cabinet and unscrew the salt reservoir cap.

2. Before filling for the first time, fill the reservoir with approx. 1.5 L of water.

3. Place the provided funnel over the salt reservoir and carefully fill with dishwasher salt until the reservoir is full. It holds up to 4.4 lb (2 kg) of salt.

4. Clean any salt residue from around the opening.

5. Screw the salt reservoir cap on again firmly.

6. Immediately after filling the salt reservoir, run the “Rinse salt” program without any dishes to dissolve and remove any traces of salt from the cabinet.

When the ‘Refill salt’ reminder appears, wait for the current program to end, then refill the reservoir.

Rinse aid helps with drying and prevents water marks. Only use rinse aid formulated for domestic dishwashers.

1. Press the yellow button on the lid of the rinse aid reservoir. The lid will spring open.

2. Fill with rinse aid until the filling level indicator (arrow) turns dark. The reservoir holds approximately 110 ml.

3. Close the lid firmly until you hear it click into place.

4. Wipe up any spilled rinse aid to prevent excess foam in the next program.

When the ‘Refill rinse aid’ message appears in the display, the reservoir contains enough for 2-3 more programs. Add rinse aid in plenty of time.

You can alter the dishwasher’s controls to suit your requirements in the Settings menu.

Opening the Settings Menu:

1. Turn on the dishwasher using the On/Off sensor.

2. From the Programs menu, use the ‘Back’ sensor control to go to the main menu.

3. Touch the ‘Settings’ sensor control.

Changing Settings:

1. In the Settings menu, select the setting you want to change. The selected item is marked in orange.

2. Change the value or touch an option to select it, then confirm with ‘OK’.

3. To exit a sub-menu, use the ‘Back’ sensor button.

Closing the Settings Menu:

Touch the ‘Back’ sensor button to return to the main menu.

The dishwasher must be programmed to the correct water hardness for your area. If the water hardness fluctuates, always program the dishwasher to the higher value. The table below shows the corresponding values for different units.

You can adjust the following settings:

Language: Set the display language and country.

Time: Set the clock format (12 or 24 hour) and the current time.

Water hardness: Program the dishwasher for your local water hardness.

AutoDos: Adjust the dispensing quantity of the PowerDisk for cleaning performance or service life.

Rinse aid: Adjust the dosage from 0 to 6 ml for best drying results. Increase if spots appear, decrease if clouding or smearing occurs.

Save Extras: Choose if selected extras should remain permanently activated for a program.

Miele@home: Connect to your Wi-Fi network, activate/deactivate the module, and manage network settings.

Remote control: Permanently turn the remote control option on or off.

Remote Update: Activate/deactivate automatic software update downloads.

SmartStart / EcoStart: Set up the dishwasher to run at times with cheaper electricity rates.

Temperature: Display temperature in °C/Celsius or °F/Fahrenheit.

Display: Adjust brightness (7 levels) and color scheme (bright/dark).

Volume: Adjust the volume of audible signals for end of program, faults, keypad tones, and the welcome melody.

Memory: When on, the dishwasher saves the last used program.

Refill indicators: Turn off the refill reminders for salt and rinse aid if you exclusively use combination detergents.

AutoOpen: Activate or deactivate the automatic door opening function at the end of a program.

2nd interim rinse: Add a second interim rinse to increase cleaning performance (may increase water consumption).

BrilliantLight: Turn the interior lighting on or off permanently.

SaniWash Cycle: Activates a reminder to run a high-temperature program after several low-temperature cycles to prevent bacteria buildup.

Water connection: Set to Automatic, Cold water, or Warm water connection.

System Lock: Prevents the dishwasher from being used without your knowledge.

You can make the most of your machine by following these tips:

– Washing in a dishwasher generally uses less water and energy than washing by hand.

– There is no need to pre-rinse items under running water, which unnecessarily increases water and energy consumption.

– Make full use of the basket capacity without overloading. This results in the most economical dishwashing.

– Choose a program that best suits the degree of soiling and the type of dishes.

– Select the Normal program for energy-saving dishwashing. This program is the most efficient for cleaning dishes with a normal level of soiling.

– If you have a hot water connection, choose the Energy Saver program (the wash water will not be heated up).

– Follow the detergent manufacturer’s recommendations on dosage.

– If you are manually dosing, reduce the amount of detergent by 1/3 if the baskets are only half full.

For best results, follow these guidelines:

– Remove coarse food residues from dishware before loading. Pre-rinsing is not necessary.

– Do not wash items soiled with ash, sand, wax, lubricant, or paint.

– Load dishware so that water can access all surfaces. Do not place items inside other pieces.

– Make sure all items are securely positioned.

– Place hollow items like cups, glasses, and pans upside down in the baskets.

– Place tall, narrow, hollow items like champagne glasses in the center of the basket for better water access.

– Place concave items like mugs at an angle so water can run off.

– Ensure the spray arms are not blocked by items that are too tall or hang through the baskets. Check for free movement by manually rotating the spray arms.

– Place small items like lids in the 3D MultiFlex Tray to prevent them from falling through.

The following items are not suitable for dishwashing:

– Wooden cutlery, dishes, or items with wooden parts, as they may discolor, fade, or have handles come loose.

– Craft items, antiques, valuable vases, and decorative glasses.

– Plastic items that are not heat resistant, as they may melt or lose shape.

– Copper, brass, tin, and aluminum items, as they may discolor or become dull. Aluminum parts must not be cleaned with caustic alkaline detergents.

– Colors painted over a glaze, as they may fade.

– Delicate glasses and glassware containing lead crystal, as clouding may occur over time.

– Silverware that has been in contact with foods containing sulfur (egg yolk, onions, mayonnaise, mustard, etc.) can discolor. If cleaning silver with a special agent, it may be irreparably damaged.

Upper Basket:

– Use for small, lightweight, and delicate items like cups, saucers, glasses, and dessert bowls.

– Long items like ladles should be placed lying down across the front.

– The upper basket can be adjusted to 3 different height levels to make more space in the lower basket.

– Use the FlexCare cup racks for cups, small bowls, and to secure glasses.

Lower Basket:

– Place larger and heavier items like plates, serving platters, saucepans, and bowls here.

– The MultiComfort area at the rear is for cups, glasses, plates, and pots.

– The rows of spikes can be lowered to make more room for large items.

– Use the FlexCare Glass & Bottle holders for stemware, tall glasses, and bottles.

– Use the MultiClips to fasten light plastic items.

– Use the XL-Assist to secure large wash items like pots and pans.

– Use the StrawClean holder for up to 5 drinking straws.

3D MultiFlex Cutlery Tray:

– Group utensils in zones (knives, forks, spoons) for easier unloading.

– Place spoon heads in contact with the serrated retainers so water can run off.

– The left insert can be pushed to the middle to accommodate tall items in the upper basket.

– The height of the right-hand insert can be adjusted for larger utensils or smaller dishes.

The AutoDos system automatically dispenses powder detergent from a Miele PowerDisk. One PowerDisk lasts for approximately 20 rinse cycles.

Activating AutoDos and Inserting a PowerDisk:

1. Turn the dishwasher on. Before first use, remove the tab from the AutoDos lid.

2. Turn the AutoDos lid to the open symbol and open it. The message ‘AutoDos lid open’ will appear on the display.

3. If there is an empty PowerDisk, remove it.

4. Insert the new PowerDisk and press it evenly downward until it sits flush.

5. Close the AutoDos lid and turn it until the lid handle is directly below the lock symbol. This activates the AutoDos function.

The AutoDos function is now active. If the PowerDisk is not in the correct starting position, it will be rotated automatically. Wait until this procedure ends before starting a program.

You must dispense detergent manually if you have deactivated AutoDos in a program’s Options menu.

1. Press the yellow button on the lid of the detergent compartment. The lid will spring open.

2. Add the detergent to the compartment. Follow the dosage recommended by the manufacturer. Generally, use one detergent tab or 20 to 30 ml of powder/gel detergent.

3. Push the lid shut until you hear it click into place.

4. For programs with a pre-rinse stage, you can also apply a small amount of detergent to the inner panel of the door.

Ensure the detergent compartment is dry before adding powder detergent to prevent clumping.

Turning on and Selecting a Program:

1. Make sure the water faucet is on and the spray arms can rotate freely.

2. Close the door.

3. Touch the On/Off sensor control. The Programs menu will appear.

4. Select the desired program in the display. The display will change to the Options menu.

Starting a Program:

Touch the ‘Start’ sensor control. The program will begin.

End of Program:

The program is finished when the display shows the message ‘Finished’. An audible signal may sound. The door may open slightly if AutoOpen is active. Allow dishes to cool before unloading.

Turning Off the Dishwasher:

The dishwasher can be turned off at any time using the On/Off sensor control. Turning it off during a program will stop the program.

Interrupting a Program:

Opening the door will interrupt the program. It will resume from the same point when the door is closed again.

Canceling or Changing a Program:

1. If a program has started, select the ‘Cancel’ option in the display.

2. Confirm the message ‘Cancel the program?’ with ‘Yes’.

3. The program is canceled. You can now select a new program.

You can select or deselect these extras in the Options menu for a selected program.

Express: Reduces the program cycle time. Temperature and energy consumption will slightly increase.

AutoDos: Switches automatic dispensing on or off for the selected program.

BottleClean: Increases cleaning performance for tall, narrow hollow containers like bottles. Extends program time and may increase temperature, water, and energy consumption.

IntenseZone: Increases cleaning performance in the lower basket. Extends program time and increases temperature, water, and energy consumption.

Extra Clean: Increases the overall cleaning performance of the program. Extends program time and increases temperature, water, and energy consumption.

Extra Dry: Increases the program drying performance. Extends program time and increases the final rinse temperature and energy consumption.

Timer: Allows you to set a delayed start time, a latest finish time, or use EcoStart/SmartStart functions to benefit from lower electricity rates.

The following table provides an overview of the programs, their usage, and estimated consumption values. Note that actual values can vary based on conditions.

Regular cleaning will help keep your dishwasher in good working order.

Wash Cabinet: The cabinet is largely self-cleaning. However, frequent use of low-temperature programs increases the risk of bacteria and odors. Run the ‘Pots & Pans’ program or the ‘Clean Machine’ program with a dishwasher cleaner once a month to clean the cabinet.

Door and Door Seal: Wipe the door seals regularly with a damp cloth to remove food deposits. Wipe any spills from the sides of the door before closing it.

Control Panel: Wipe only with a clean, damp cloth.

Appliance Front: Clean with a soft sponge and a solution of warm water and liquid dish soap. Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaners.

AutoDos Assembly: If the ‘Clean AutoDos’ message appears, or each time you replace the PowerDisk, check and clean the housing and holder with a damp cloth. Ensure no moisture remains.

Spray Arms (every 2-4 months): Check for blocked jets. Turn off the dishwasher, remove the cutlery tray (if present), and then unscrew and remove the upper, middle, and lower spray arms. Use a pointed object to push food particles into the arms, then rinse them thoroughly under running water before reinstalling.

Filters (every 50 cycles): The dishwasher will remind you to clean the filters. Turn off the dishwasher, remove the lower spray arm, and then remove the filter combination. Clean all parts under running water. Reinstall the filter combination so it lies flat, then refit the lower spray arm.

Drain Pump: If water remains in the cabinet, the drain pump may be blocked. Disconnect power, remove filters, scoop out water, then press the catch on the drain pump cover to open it. Remove any foreign objects (e.g., glass splinters) and check the impeller can be turned. Reinstall the cover securely.

This is likely due to an issue with the power supply.

Possible Cause: The electrical plug is not plugged in.

Solution: Insert the electrical plug securely into the socket.

Possible Cause: The circuit breaker has tripped.

Solution: Reset the circuit breaker. If the breaker trips again, contact Miele Customer Service.

Possible Cause: The Waterproof system has reacted, indicating a potential leak.

Solution:

1. Turn off the dishwasher using the On/Off button.

2. Close the water supply faucet.

3. Contact Miele Customer Service.

If you hear an alarm tone and see a message like ‘Open the water supply’ or ‘Insufficient water’, there is a problem with the water intake.

Before remedying, turn off the dishwasher.

Possible Cause: The water supply is turned off.

Solution: Open the faucet all the way.

Possible Cause: The water inlet filter is clogged.

Solution: Clean the water inlet filter (refer to the “Cleaning and care” section).

Possible Cause: The water connection pressure is too low (below 7.25 psi / 50 kPa).

Solution: Consult a plumber.

If you hear an alarm tone and see a message like ‘Water was not pumped away’, there is a problem with water drainage.

Before remedying, turn off the dishwasher.

Possible Cause: There might be water in the wash cabinet due to a blockage.

Solution:

1. Clean the filter combination.

2. Clean the drain pump.

3. Check the drain hose for any kinks or loops and remove them.

Problem: Message appears: ‘PowerDisk inserted?’

Cause: AutoDos is active, but there is no PowerDisk, or an empty one has been inserted.

Solution: Insert a filled PowerDisk and confirm with ‘Yes’. Or, if you don’t wish to use AutoDos, deactivate it by selecting ‘No’.

Problem: Program does not start, or stops, and message appears: ‘AutoDos lid open’.

Cause: The AutoDos lid has not been closed properly.

Solution: Close the AutoDos lid and lock it fully. If it cannot be closed, check that the PowerDisk holder is lying flat.

Problem: Message appears: ‘PowerDisk empty. Deactivate AutoDos with OK.’

Cause: The PowerDisk is empty.

Solution: Replace the PowerDisk. If you do not wish to use AutoDos, deactivate the function using OK.

Problem: At end of program, message appears: ‘AutoDos requires maintenance. Please check AutoDos system.’

Cause: No or an empty PowerDisk was used, or the AutoDos is blocked by residual detergent, leading to insufficient dispensing.

Solution: Turn the dishwasher off and on again. Clean the AutoDos system and the lower spray arm. Insert a full PowerDisk, close the lid, and restart the program.

There are several possible reasons for poor cleaning results:

– The dishware was not loaded correctly: See the notes under “Loading the dishwasher”.

– The program was not powerful enough: Select a more powerful program. You can also activate the ‘Extra clean’ or ‘Second interim rinse’ function.

– Not enough detergent was dispensed: Use more detergent (if dosing manually) or increase the dispensing quantity in the AutoDos settings.

– Spray arms are blocked: Check that the spray arms can rotate freely and rearrange items if necessary.

– The filter combination is not clean or was incorrectly installed: Clean and/or install the filter combination correctly. Clean the spray-arm jets if they are blocked.

Problem: Dishware is not dry or glasses are flecked.

Cause/Solution:

– The rinse-aid dosage is too low or the reservoir is empty. Replenish the reservoir and/or increase the dosage.

– The dishware was taken out too soon. Leave it in longer after the program ends.

– The drying phase was not sufficient. Select the ‘Extra Dry’ function.

– You have used combination products with insufficient drying performance. Switch to another detergent or replenish the rinse aid.

Problem: White residue is visible on dishware; clouding has occurred.

Cause/Solution:

– The rinse-aid dosage is set too low. Increase the dosage.

– The salt reservoir is empty. Fill the salt reservoir.

– The salt-reservoir cap is not screwed on correctly. Replace it and ensure it is screwed on correctly.

– The water softener is programmed to too low a water hardness level. Program it to a higher level.

Problem: There are smears or a bluish sheen on glassware.

Cause/Solution: The rinse aid dosage is set too high. Reduce the dosage.

Knocking noise in the wash cabinet: A spray arm is knocking against a wash item. Carefully open the door and rearrange the items that are obstructing the spray arm.

Rattling noise in the wash cabinet: Wash items are not secure in the wash cabinet. Carefully open the door and rearrange the items so that they sit securely. It could also be a foreign object (e.g., glass shard) in the drain pump; remove it if necessary.

Knocking noise in the water pipes: This may be caused by the on-site installation or the cross-section of the piping. It will not affect the functioning of the dishwasher. If in doubt, contact a suitably qualified plumber.
