Oil and fat can overheat and catch fire. If a fire occurs, do not attempt to put the flames out with water. Instead, immediately switch off the cooktop and use a suitable fire blanket, saucepan lid, damp towel, or similar item to smother the flames.

If solid or liquid sugar, plastic, or aluminum foil gets onto the hot cooktop, it can damage the ceramic surface when it cools down. Follow these steps immediately:

1. Switch off the appliance.

2. While wearing oven gloves, carefully scrape off all the sugar, plastic, or aluminum residues while they are still hot. Use a shielded scraper blade suitable for use on glass.

3. Allow the ceramic surface to cool down completely.

4. Clean the surface with a suitable ceramic cooktop cleaning agent.

Before using your Miele KM 7697 FL for the first time, follow these steps:

1. Remove any protective wrapping and stickers, but do not remove the data plate.

2. Clean the cooktop with a damp cloth and then wipe it dry.

When you first heat the cooktop, the metal components and induction coils may give off a slight smell. This is normal and not hazardous to health. The smell will dissipate with use.

6. When the time has elapsed, the code C:01 will be displayed for 10 seconds. You now have 10 minutes to configure the Wi-Fi.

7. Follow the instructions in the Miele App to complete the connection.

To connect your Miele KM 7697 FL using WPS, you must have a WPS-compatible router.

1. Switch the cooktop on.

2. Place an induction-compatible pan on the cooktop.

3. Touch and hold the 0 and 6 sensor controls on the numerical keybank at the same time for 6 seconds. The seconds will count down in the timer display.

4. Once the time elapses, a progress light will appear during the connection attempt (max. 120 seconds). The WPS login is only active during this time.

5. Activate the WPS function on your router.

If the connection is successful, C:02 appears in the timer display. If it fails, C:01 will appear, likely because WPS on the router was not activated quickly enough. Repeat the steps if needed.

Resetting the network settings is important if you are selling or disposing of the cooktop to ensure all personal data is removed.

1. Switch the cooktop on.

2. Place an induction-compatible pan on the cooktop.

3. Touch and hold the 0 and 9 sensor controls on the numerical keybank at the same time for 6 seconds.

4. The seconds will count down in the timer display. When this time has elapsed, the code C:00 is displayed for 10 seconds, indicating the settings have been reset.

Con@ctivity allows your Miele KM 7697 FL cooktop to automatically control a compatible Miele rangehood. You can set it up via a home Wi-Fi network or a direct Wi-Fi connection.

Via Home Wi-Fi Network (Con@ctivity 3.0):

1. Ensure you have a home Wi-Fi network and a Wi-Fi-enabled Miele rangehood.

2. Connect both the rangehood and the cooktop to your home Wi-Fi network following the instructions for each appliance.

3. The Con@ctivity function will be activated automatically.

Via Direct Wi-Fi Connection:

1. Switch the cooktop on.

2. Place an induction-compatible pan on the cooktop.

3. Touch and hold the 0 and 7 sensors on the numerical keybank at the same time for 6 seconds.

4. The timer display will count down. After the time elapses, a progress light will appear. If the connection is successful, C:02 appears in the timer display. If it fails, C:01 appears; repeat the steps if necessary.

5. When successfully connected, indicator lights 2 and 3 will light up constantly on the rangehood.

6. Quit the connection mode on the rangehood by pressing its run-on control.

Con@ctivity is now activated.

The noises you hear from your Miele KM 7697 FL are normal operational sounds related to the induction technology and cooling system:

• Buzzing: This can occur on higher power levels and will decrease or stop when the power is reduced.

• Cracking: If your pan base is made of layers of different materials (e.g., a sandwiched base), it might emit a cracking sound.

To save energy while using your Miele KM 7697 FL cooktop, follow these tips:

Switching on the cooktop:

• Touch the On/Off ① sensor. Further sensor controls will light up.

Setting the power level:

1. Place the pans in the required position on the cooktop. The corresponding numerical keybank will light up.

2. Touch the appropriate number sensor on the keybank for the power level you want.

3. To use the extended power levels (if enabled), touch the numerical keybank between two number sensors. For example, to set power level 7., touch between 7 and 8.

Switching off the cooktop:

• Touch the On/Off ① sensor.

After switching off, a residual heat indicator (dots above power levels 1, 2, or 3) will remain on as long as the surface is hot to the touch.

The Auto heat-up function automatically heats the cooking zone at the highest setting for a certain period and then reduces it to your pre-selected continued cooking level. Activating Auto heat-up:

• Touch the sensor for the desired continued cooking setting until a tone sounds and the sensor starts to pulsate. During the heat-up phase, the selected power level will pulsate.

Deactivating Auto heat-up:

• Touch the sensor for the continued cooking setting again, or set a different power level.

The heat-up time depends on the selected continued cooking setting:

The Booster function provides a temporary high-power boost for rapid heating, active for a maximum of 15 minutes. You can use it with a maximum of 3 pans at once.

Activating TwinBooster Level 1:

1. Place the pan in the required position on the cooktop.

2. Select a power level if necessary.

3. Touch the B sensor control. The indicator light for level 1 will light up.

Activating TwinBooster Level 2:

1. Place the pan in the required position.

2. Select a power level if necessary.

3. Touch the B sensor control twice. The indicator light for level 2 will light up.

Deactivating TwinBooster:

• Touch the B sensor control repeatedly until the indicator lights go out, or

• Set a different power level.

This function is for keeping freshly cooked food warm, not for reheating cold food. The maximum duration is 2 hours. Activating/Deactivating:

• Touch the ♨ sensor control on the corresponding numerical keybank.

The default keeping warm temperature is 75 °C. You can change this in the Programming settings.

The Miele KM 7697 FL has two timer functions: a Minute Minder and an Auto Switch-off. The cooktop must be switched on to use the timer. You can set a duration between 1 minute (0:01) and 9 hours 59 minutes (9:59).

Minute Minder (Kitchen Timer):

• Setting: Touch the 🛎 sensor. The timer display will flash. Set the required time using the numerical keybank. Touch the 🛎 sensor again or wait 10 seconds to start.

• Changing: Touch the 🛎 sensor, and set the new time.

• Cancelling: Touch the 🛎 sensor, then touch 0 on the numerical keybank.

Auto Switch-off (for a specific cooking zone):

• Setting: Select a power level for the pan. Touch the 🕘 sensor. The timer display will flash. Set the required time. Touch the 🕘 sensor again or wait 10 seconds to start. The indicator light for that cooking zone will pulsate.

• Changing: Touch the 🕘 sensor repeatedly until the correct indicator pulsates. Set the new time.

• Deleting: Touch the 🕘 sensor repeatedly until the correct indicator pulsates. Touch the 0 sensor on the numerical keybank.

If you use both functions simultaneously, the shortest remaining time is always displayed.

Stop & Go:

This function reduces the power level of all active cooking zones to 1 with a single touch, for example, if there is a danger of food boiling over. The minute minder, auto switch-off, and Booster timers continue to run. To activate or deactivate, touch the II/▶ sensor. If the function is not deactivated within 1 hour, the cooktop will switch off.

Recall:

If you inadvertently switch the cooktop off, this function lets you restore all your previous settings. You must switch the cooktop back on within 10 seconds of switching it off. The previously set power levels will flash. Press one of the flashing power level indicators immediately to restore all settings.

Wipe Protection:

Locks the sensors for 20 seconds to allow you to clean the controls without changing settings. The On/Off sensor remains active.

• Activating: Touch the 🖐 sensor. The time will count down in the timer display.

• Deactivating: Touch the 🖐 sensor until the timer display goes out, or wait for the 20 seconds to elapse.

Demonstration Mode (without heating):

• Activating/Deactivating: Switch the cooktop on and place an induction-compatible pan on it. Touch and hold the 0 and 2 sensor controls for 6 seconds. In the timer display, dE will flash alternately with On (activated) or OFF (deactivated).

Showroom Mode (simulated cooking):

• Activating/Deactivating: Switch the cooktop on and place an induction-compatible pan on it. Touch and hold the 0 and 8 sensor controls for 6 seconds. In the timer display, dE will flash alternately with On (activated) or OFF (deactivated).

System Lock (activates when cooktop is off):

Prevents the cooktop from being switched on by mistake.

• Activating: Touch the On/Off ① sensor for 6 seconds. Seconds will count down, and then LOC will appear in the timer display.

• Deactivating: Touch the On/Off ① sensor for 6 seconds. LOC will appear briefly, then the seconds will count down. The lock is deactivated once the time has elapsed.

Safety Lock (activates when cooktop is on):

Prevents settings from being altered during cooking. You can only switch the cooktop off or modify a minute minder time.

• Activating: Touch and hold the 🕘 and II/▶ sensors at the same time for 6 seconds. LOC will appear in the timer display.

• Deactivating: Touch and hold the 🕘 and II/▶ sensors at the same time for 6 seconds. The lock is deactivated once the time has elapsed.

Your Miele KM 7697 FL cooktop may switch off automatically for one of two safety reasons:

1. Sensor controls are covered: If one or more sensors are covered for longer than 10 seconds (by finger contact, food boiling over, or an object like an oven glove), the cooktop will switch off. A flashing symbol F will appear above the On/Off sensor. Clean the area or remove the object to use the cooktop again.

2. Excessive operating time: Each power level has a maximum operating time for safety. If a zone is used for an unusually long period without any change in setting, it will switch off automatically. The residual heat indicator will appear. The maximum time depends on the power level set, as shown in the table below (for factory default safety setting 0).

The Miele KM 7697 FL has an overheating protection mechanism for the induction coils and the cooling electronics. If a component gets too hot, the cooktop will automatically take protective measures:

• Any active Booster function will be switched off.

• The set power level will be reduced.

• The heat will switch off automatically. If this happens, “Err” will flash alternately with “044” in the timer display.

This can be triggered by:

• Using an empty pot or pan.

• Heating fat or oil on a high power level.

• Insufficient ventilation to the underside of the cooktop.

• Switching a hot area on again after a power interruption.

Once the fault message disappears, you can use the cooking area again as usual. If the problem persists, contact Miele.

You can adapt various settings of your Miele KM 7697 FL in programming mode.

Calling up programming mode:

1. With the cooktop switched off, press and hold the On/Off ① and the Stop & Go II/▶ sensor controls together.

2. Hold until the 🕘 symbol lights up and PC appears in the timer display.

Setting a programme and code:

1. After a few seconds, P:01 will flash alternately with C:01.

2. To select a different programme (e.g., P:08), touch the 🕘 sensor repeatedly until P:08 appears.

3. To change the code for that programme, touch the Stop & Go II/▶ sensor repeatedly until the desired code appears.

Saving the settings:

• While the programme is visible, touch the On/Off ① sensor control until the indicators go out.

To clean the ceramic surface of your Miele KM 7697 FL, always allow it to cool down first.

1. Remove any coarse soiling with a damp cloth. For more stubborn soiling, use a glass scraper.

This message indicates the Miele KM 7697 FL cooktop is incorrectly connected. You should disconnect the cooktop from the electricity supply and contact Miele. The cooktop must be connected to the mains according to the wiring diagram by a qualified person.

This message indicates that the cooling fan is blocked or defective. Check for any objects blocking the fan and remove them. If the fault code persists, contact Miele.

If a message not listed in the troubleshooting guide appears, there may be an electronic unit fault. You can try to reset the cooktop:

1. Interrupt the power supply to the cooktop for approximately 1 minute (by switching off the circuit breaker or at the wall socket).

2. If the problem persists after power is restored, please contact Miele.

This can happen for two reasons:

• The pan is too small: The pan cannot be detected in this position because it is very small. Try repositioning the pan. If it is still not detected, use a different, larger pan.

• The pan is unsuitable: The pan material is not compatible with induction cooking. Use suitable pans (e.g., cast iron, magnetizable stainless steel) as described in the cookware section.

A flashing power level indicates the pan cannot be detected in its new position. Touch the flashing power level to confirm. If it continues to flash, reposition the pan again until it is detected properly.

This can be due to two reasons:

• There is too much food in the pan: The Auto heat-up function may not be sufficient for very large quantities. Start cooking at the highest power level (level 9) and then manually turn it down to a lower level later on.

• The pan is not conducting heat properly: The material of your pan may not be efficient for induction. Try using a different pan that is better able to conduct heat.

If your Miele KM 7697 FL cooktop cannot be switched on, there could be an issue with the power supply or a technical fault.

• Check for no power: Check if the circuit breaker has tripped. If so, reset it. If it trips again, contact an electrician or Miele.
