How should I dispose of the packing material?

The transport and protective packing is mostly made from re-usable materials like:

• corrugated paper/card board

• polystyrene – CFC-free

• polyethylene foil (transparent)

• fiber board – solvent-free

• untreated wood

Do not throw these materials away with ordinary rubbish. Take them to the nearest collection point. Your local authority can tell you where it is.

How should I dispose of my old dishwasher?

Old machines contain materials that can be re-used. Do not simply dispose of your old machine. Ask your local authority or scrap merchant whether those parts are re-usable or recyclable.

What are the important safety instructions when using the dishwasher?

When using your dishwasher, follow basic precautions:

• Always read instructions before use to prevent damage and ensure safety.

• Use the appliance only for its intended purpose.

• Repairs should only be done by qualified experts. Disconnect power when servicing.

• Install built-in units under a continuous countertop secured to adjacent cabinetry.

• The dishwasher must be electrically grounded. Follow installation details.

• Use only recommended detergents and rinse aids.

• Ensure all enclosure panels are properly in place before operating.

• Do not allow children to play in or on the dishwasher.

• Handle dishwasher detergent carefully (contains Sodium Silicate and Carbonate). If eye contact occurs, flush well with water. If swallowed, give large amounts of milk or water and call a physician. Keep out of reach of children.

• Do not tamper with controls.

• Do not drink water from the wash cabinet.

• When loading: locate sharp items so they won’t damage the door seal; load sharp knives handle-up to reduce injury risk.

• Only wash plastic items marked “dishwasher safe” or equivalent. Check manufacturer’s recommendations for unmarked items.

• Do not abuse, sit on, or stand on the door or dish rack.

• Do not touch the heating element during or immediately after the rinse cycle (Risk of burns!).

• Remove the door when taking an old dishwasher out of service or discarding it.

• Be aware of potential hydrogen gas build-up if the hot water system hasn’t been used for two weeks or more. Hydrogen gas is explosive. Before using the dishwasher after such a period, turn on all hot water faucets and let water flow for several minutes. Do not smoke or use an open flame while faucets are open.

How can I save water and energy when using the dishwasher?

Follow these hints for economy washing:

• Connect the dishwasher to hot water. This saves time and energy, especially if the water is pre-heated.

• Fill the baskets to full capacity, but do not overload.

• Select a program according to the type of load and amount of soil.

• For half-loaded baskets, select the “Economy” Program.

• Pay attention to the detergent dosage instructions.

How do I open the dishwasher door?

Hold the handgrip and push up. If the door is opened during operation, all functions are automatically interrupted.

How do I close the dishwasher door?

Insert the baskets. Pull the door up and close it until it catches.

Why is rinse aid necessary?

Rinse aid is necessary for spotless dishes. It is automatically dispensed during the final rinse cycle.

What should I use as rinse aid?

Use only rinse aid specifically formulated for domestic dishwashers, such as Liquid Jet Dry (Blue Liquid) commonly available in the USA. Filling the rinse aid container with powder or liquid detergent will damage it. While household vinegar (at least 5% acid) or liquid citric acid (up to 50% acid) can be used as alternatives, the rinsing and drying results may not be as good. Do not use vinegar with high acid content (like 25% vinegar essence) as it could damage the dishwasher.

How do I add rinse aid?

Depress the button on the rinse aid dispenser lid until it opens. Pour rinse aid into the container until the level indicator turns dark. Close the lid tightly, ensuring it clicks shut. Wipe away any spilled rinse aid immediately to prevent over-foaming in the next cycle. The lid should always be closed at the end of a program.

How do I adjust the rinse aid dosage?

The rinse aid dispenser has a dosage adjuster inside the opening with settings from 1 to 6. It is factory set to 2. For the best drying results, use setting 5. If your dishes show spots, set the dosage selector to a higher number. If dishes appear cloudy, turn the selector to a lower number.

When should I refill the rinse aid?

The rinse aid level indicator shows how much rinse aid is stored. Always add rinse aid when the level indicator no longer shows the dark coloring.

What are the general guidelines for loading the dishwasher?

• Place dishes so they can be rinsed from all sides.

• Dishes and cutlery should not cover each other.

• Invert hollow objects like cups, glasses, and pots.

• Place dishes with recessed bottoms (like cups or bowls) slanted so water can run off.

• Place tall, narrow objects in the center basket.

• Do not cover small objects in the top basket with large ones (e.g., don’t place large cups over dessert cups).

• Ensure the inlet funnel to the spray arm in the center of the upper basket is not covered.

• Do not block the spray arms with tall objects. Manually rotate the arms to test if necessary.

What typically goes in the upper basket?

The upper basket mainly accommodates small, delicate objects such as Cups, Saucers, Dessert Plates, Glasses, Small Bowls, and Heat-Resistant Plastic Ware.

What typically goes in the lower basket?

The lower basket accommodates large objects such as Plates, Saucepans, and Bowls.

How should I load cutlery in the cutlery basket (G 575 model)?

Unsorted cutlery should be placed loosely in the cutlery basket with the handles pointing downwards. Small spoons should be placed into the individual slots located on either side of the cutlery basket. Place large items, such as soup ladles or long knives, horizontally in front of the top basket.

How should I load cutlery in the cutlery tray (G 575 SC model)?

The cutlery tray provides excellent cleaning and drying, prevents scratching, and is hygienic as only handles are touched. It’s recommended to arrange cutlery in zones (e.g., one zone for knives, forks, spoons, tea-spoons) to make unloading easier. Place spoons sideways into the grids so water can easily drain off. A variety of cutlery can be arranged; ensure water can drain. The cutlery tray is removable for easier unloading.

Can you provide examples of how to load the G 575 SC model?

Upper Basket: Place cups, glasses, and small bowls facing downwards. Arrange saucers and small plates vertically or slightly slanted.

Lower Basket: Place large plates vertically in the racks. Position larger bowls, pots, and pans face down or slanted for optimal water exposure and drainage.

Cutlery Tray: Arrange knives, forks, spoons, and other utensils in their designated areas within the tray, separating different types for best results and easy unloading. Ensure spoons are placed sideways in the grids.

Can you provide examples of how to load the G 575 model?

Upper Basket: Load cups, glasses, and small bowls facing downwards. Saucers can be placed along the sides.

Lower Basket: Arrange large plates vertically in the racks. Place larger bowls, pots, and pans face down or slanted.

Cutlery Basket: Place mixed cutlery (forks, spoons, knives) loosely with handles facing downwards. Small spoons can go into the side slots.

Long Items: Lay long utensils like spatulas or knives horizontally on the front part of the upper basket or on the flip rack/coffee bar if available.

What is the Flip Rack used for?

The flip rack can be raised to make space for larger items below it. When lowered, it can be used to double stack smaller items like cups or small bowls.

How do I use the Coffee bar (not G 575 SC)?

Place coffee mugs on top of the bar so they sit at a slant, allowing water to run off the base. The bar can also act as a separator between two rows of glasses, preventing them from leaning against each other, which protects the glasses and ensures a good wash. For wider items, flip the bar over to the right.

How do I adjust the upper basket height (G 575 SC only)?

To make room for larger items in either the upper or lower basket, you can change the position of the upper basket. Pull the upper basket out completely. Loosen the screws located on both sides of the basket runners. Lift or lower the basket to the desired position, then tighten the screws again.

What size plates can fit depending on the upper basket position (G 575 SC)?

Upper basket Position Max Plate Diameter in Upper Basket Max Plate Diameter in Lower Basket
Upper 6″ 12″
Center 7″ 11″
Lower 8″ 10″

What items are generally not suitable for dishwashers?

• Utensils with wooden or plastic handles (wood may warp or split).

• Wooden or plastic cutting boards (may warp or split).

• Old knives where blades/handles might be glued (glue may not be heat-resistant).

• Handmade craft items.

• Copper or tin items.

• Plastic articles that are not heat-resistant (they may distort). If washing plastic known to be heat-resistant, use the top basket only.

When in doubt about an item’s suitability, it’s best to wash it by hand.

What should I know about washing silver, aluminum, or painted dishes?

Silver and aluminum items may discolor when washed with foods containing sulphur. Discolorations on silver cutlery can be removed with silver polish. Colors painted over the glaze on dishes are generally permanent for the normal lifespan of the article, but frequent washing may cause some delicate colors to fade over time. If unsure about the permanence of colors on a particular set of dishes, test wash one or two already damaged items for about four weeks.

What is recommended for washing glasses?

Glasses should ideally be washed using the 130° F (55° C) programs. Using higher temperatures increases the risk of damage to the glass surface, appearing as white clouding. Because very high temperatures can damage delicate crystal glasses, it is recommended to wash these by hand if your incoming water temperature is above 115° F (45° C). When purchasing new dishes, ensure they are marked as dishwasher-safe.

When should I add detergent?

Detergent should be poured into the dispenser before starting each wash program, except for the “Rinse & Hold” program.

What type of detergent should I use?

Only use detergents specifically formulated for use in domestic dishwashers. Use the correct dosage as recommended.

How do I add detergent?

Press the opening catch on the dispenser flap downwards (as shown by the arrow); the flap will spring open. Note that the flap is always open at the end of a program. Pour the required amount of detergent (refer to the program table on page 20) into the compartments. Use the small compartment (I) for pre-wash detergent (if needed by the program) and the large compartment (II) for the main wash detergent. Close the flap securely.

What safety warning applies to dishwasher detergent?

Dishwasher detergent contains Sodium Silicate and Sodium Carbonate. In case of eye contact, immediately flush well with water. If swallowed, give large quantities of milk or water and call a physician. Keep out of reach of children.

What if I buy detergent in bulk?

Check that the package is always properly sealed after use. Otherwise, the detergent can lose its effectiveness. Also note that the effectiveness of different detergents can vary, so you might need to add more detergent than advised on page 20.

How do I select a program?

Select a program based on the type of dishes you are washing and how dirty they are. In most cases, the Normal 70°C/160° F program is suitable. For details on various special programs and their uses, refer to the program charts.

What are the available wash programs and their recommended use?

Program Application Detergent (oz) Pre-wash Detergent (oz) Main wash Water Hardness

How much detergent corresponds to the scoop divisions?

The detergent scoop has 4 divisions with the following approximate values:

• division 1 (lower): 5 gr – 1/6 oz

• division 2 (2nd): 15 gr – 1/2 oz

• division 3 (3rd): 20 gr – 2/3 oz

• division 4 (top): 30 gr – 1 oz

How do I switch the dishwasher ON?

First, close the door securely. Then, turn the program sequence switch (left dial) clockwise to the start position of the desired program (e.g., INTENSIVE). Finally, turn the temperature selector switch (right dial) to the required temperature (e.g., 70° C/160° F). The wash cycle will begin.

What happens if I turn the program dial past the start point by mistake?

Turn the temperature selector switch (right dial) to ‘0’. Then, turn the program sequence switch (left dial) clockwise until it reaches the required start point of your desired program. Finally, re-select the desired temperature using the temperature selector switch.

How does the program sequence switch indicate progress?

During the program, the program sequence switch (left dial) moves around the dial, indicating which stage has been reached: Pre-wash (if applicable), Main wash, Interim rinse, Final rinse, and Drying. The switch will remain stationary during the warm-up phases of the wash and rinse cycles until the required water temperature has been reached.

When is a program complete?

A wash program is complete only when the program sequence switch (left dial) reaches the ‘End’ position, marked with a solid circle (●). The Rinse & Hold program is complete when the program sequence switch stops just before the ‘Start’ point of the INTENSIVE program.

Can I turn the program sequence switch manually to skip stages?

WARNING: Do not try to take short-cuts by manually turning the program sequence switch past stages in a program. This can lead to important functions being interrupted.

How do I switch the dishwasher OFF?

Upon completion of a program (when the program sequence switch reaches ‘End’), turn the temperature selector switch (right dial) to ‘0’.

Can I change a program or temperature setting mid-cycle?

It is possible to change the temperature setting within a running program (e.g., changing from NORMAL 55° C/130° F to NORMAL 70° C/160° F, or ECONOMY 55° C/130° F to ECONOMY 70° C/160° F) by simply turning the temperature selector dial. If you want to change the entire program type (e.g., from INTENSIVE to NORMAL), it is advised to first turn the appliance off by setting the temperature selector to ‘0’, then re-selecting the new program and temperature.

How do I interrupt a program?

A program is interrupted immediately when the door is opened. Take care: If the water inside is hot, there is a danger of scalding. Only open the door if absolutely necessary, and do so with the greatest care.

What should I do when resuming an interrupted program?

When the door is shut again, the program will continue from the point where it was interrupted. Important: Lean, but do not close the door for 20 seconds before firmly shutting it. This helps to keep a balanced temperature inside the wash cabinet.

How should I unload the dishwasher?

• Hot dishes are sensitive to shocks. Allow dishes to remain in the dishwasher for approximately 15 minutes after the program finishes to cool off.

• Keeping the door open will help the load cool off faster.

• Unload the bottom basket first, working upwards. This prevents any water remaining on items in the upper basket or cutlery tray from dripping onto the dishes below.

Why is it important to clean the filters?

Most of the coarse soils from dishes are collected in the coarse filter. It is of utmost importance that the filters are kept clean for the dishwasher to function correctly. Never wash dishes without the filters properly installed.

How do I clean the filter combination?

1. Swing the handle on the filter combination to the right. This unlocks it.

2. Lift the entire filter combination out of the dishwasher base.

3. To separate the parts for easier cleaning, push the tabs on the coarse filter inwards and lift it up from the micro-fine filter.

4. Remove any coarse soils and rinse both filter parts thoroughly under running water.

5. When re-assembling, make sure the coarse filter snaps securely back into place on the micro-fine filter.

6. Replace the filter combination back into the dishwasher, ensuring it sits flush on the floor of the wash cabinet.

7. Swing the handle from right to left to lock the filter combination in place.

How often should I clean the spray arms?

Particles of food can get stuck in the spray arm jets. The spray arms should be inspected and cleaned regularly, approximately every 6 months.

How do I clean the spray arms?

1. Remove all baskets.

2. Unscrew the upper and middle spray arms (turn counter-clockwise). For dishwashers with a cutlery tray (G 575 SC), the upper spray arm is easier to unscrew if the upper basket stays pushed in and only the cutlery tray is pulled out.

3. To remove the lower spray arm, simply lift it straight upwards.

4. The lower spray arm cap can be opened for cleaning by pushing it in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration.

5. Use a sharp, pointed object to push any food particles lodged in the jets inwards, then rinse the spray arms thoroughly under running water.

6. After cleaning the lower spray arm, close the cap again and push the spray arm firmly back into place.

7. When replacing the upper and middle spray arms, screw them back on (turn clockwise). Ensure the spray holes point upwards and the spray slits point downwards.

8. After replacing all spray arms, check that they can rotate freely.

What should I do if water hasn’t pumped away at the end of a program?

If water remains in the dishwasher at the end of a program, the drain pump or the non-return valve might be blocked. These are easy to clean.

How do I clean the drain pump and non-return valve?

1. First, remove the filter combination from the wash cabinet.

2. Locate the non-return valve (under where the filter was). Push the locking clamp towards the right to unlock it.

3. Lift up the non-return valve.

4. Rinse the non-return valve under running water.

5. Before replacing the valve, check the area underneath (where the drain pump impeller is located) to make sure nothing is obstructing the pump.

6. Carefully replace the non-return valve and secure it by pushing the locking clamp back to its original position.

How do I clean the filter in the water inlet hose?

Warning: The plastic housing of the water connection hose contains an electrical component and must not be submerged in water.

1. Switch off the dishwasher at the power outlet.

2. Turn off the stopcock/faucet supplying water to the dishwasher.

3. Unscrew the water inlet hose from the stopcock/faucet. Wrap a cloth around the connection to soak up any residual water.

4. Carefully remove the rubber seal/washer from inside the hose connection.

5. Using pointed pliers, withdraw the small filter located inside the connection.

6. Clean the filter under running water.

7. Replace the filter and the rubber seal, making sure they are sitting correctly.

8. Screw the inlet hose back onto the stopcock/faucet, ensuring it goes on straight.

9. Turn the stopcock/faucet back on gradually and check the connection for leaks. If there is a leak, screw the connection on more tightly.

What if my water supply has many insoluble substances?

If your mains water contains a large number of insoluble substances, Miele recommends fitting a large area filter (available from Miele Spare Parts Department, Part no. 75577) in the connection between the stopcock/faucet and the water inlet hose.

How should I clean the control panel?

The control panel should only be wiped with a damp cloth. Do not use any scouring agents.

How should I clean fitted fronts (e.g., wood)?

Fitted fronts should be cleaned with a product suitable for the type of material they are made from. Fronts made of wood should only be rubbed down with a damp cloth and then dried with a paper towel. Do not use any cleaner containing ammonia or thinners on fitted fronts.

How can I check the water level?

Start the “Rinse & Hold” program. Wait for approximately 3 minutes, then open the door and remove the lower basket from the machine. The water level is correct if it is within the area shown in the illustration in the manual. If the water level is below this level, there is too little water. In this case, contact the Miele Service department for advice.

How can I switch off the heated drying?

The heating element used for drying can be switched off. Locate the switch shown in the illustration (typically accessible when the door is open). Using a flat head screwdriver, turn this switch into the horizontal position. This will disable the heating element during the drying cycle, resulting in non-heated drying.

What should I do if the dishwasher does not start?

• Check that the door is properly closed.

• Ensure the power plug is properly inserted into the electrical outlet.

• Check if the household fuse or circuit breaker for the dishwasher is defective or has tripped.

What should I do if the dishes are not clean?

• Check if the dishes were loaded correctly, ensuring water can reach all surfaces.

• Verify that the correct amount of detergent was used for the selected program and soil level.

• Ensure there is enough water in the wash cabinet: check that the stopcock/faucet is fully open and that the filter in the water inlet hose is not blocked.

• Check if the water pressure is too low (refer to the water level check instructions).

• Make sure the filters in the wash cabinet are clean.

• Check if the spray arm jets are blocked with food particles.

• Ensure the spray arms are not hindered by dishes stacked too high in the baskets, preventing them from rotating freely.

What causes white residue on cutlery and dishes?

This usually indicates that not enough rinse aid is being dispensed. Check the rinse aid level and adjust the dosage setting if necessary.

What should I do if water remains in the wash cabinet after the program finishes?

• Check if the outlet hose (drain hose) is kinked or bent, restricting water flow.

• The drain pump or the non-return valve may be blocked. Refer to the cleaning instructions for these parts.
