When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury. Please adhere to the following warnings for your DYSON DC25:

1. Do not leave the appliance when plugged in. Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before servicing.

2. Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.

3. Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.

4. Use only as described in this manual. Use only Dyson recommended accessories and replacement parts.

5. Do not use with a damaged cord or plug.

6. Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run the appliance over the cord. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.

7. Do not unplug by pulling on the cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.

8. Do not handle the plug or appliance with wet hands.

9. Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.

10. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of the body away from openings and moving parts, such as the brushbar.

11. Turn off all controls before unplugging.

12. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

13. Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.

14. Unplug before connecting accessory tools.

15. Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.

16. Do not use without the clear bin™ and filters in place.

Additionally, please observe the following precautions:

• Do not pull on the cord.

• Do not store near heat sources.

• Do not use near an open flame.

• Do not run over the cord.

• Do not pick up water or liquids.

• Do not pick up burning objects.

• Do not use the DYSON DC25 above you on the stairs.

• Do not put your hands near the brushbar when the vacuum cleaner is in use.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, your DYSON DC25 has a polarized plug, where one blade is wider than the other. This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.

To assemble your DYSON DC25, follow these steps:

1. Lie the machine flat and attach the cleaner head by sliding it on until it clicks.

2. Stand the vacuum cleaner up straight, attach the wand to the hose, and push it into place until it clicks.

3. Push the wand down into the hose and attach the tools to the side of the machine.

To use your DYSON DC25, press the foot pedal and recline the handle. The stabilizer stand will automatically lift up. To switch ‘ON’, depress the power button located in front of the handle.

When you have finished cleaning, push the machine into an upright position, and the stabilizer wheels will automatically drop. Use the cyclone carry handle to carry the machine.

The brushbar on your DYSON DC25 will always default to ‘ON’ (spinning) each time you switch on the machine and recline it for cleaning. The brushbar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed.

To switch the brushbar off (for example, for hard floors), recline the machine and turn it ‘ON’, then press the brushbar ‘ON/OFF’ button. The brushbar will stop spinning.

Before using the high-reach cleaning tools on your DYSON DC25, ensure the machine is switched ‘OFF’ and in the upright position. To release the wand, open the wand cap and pull the red tube until the wand releases from the vacuum. Tools can be attached to either the hose or the wand.

Please note the following cautions:

• Powerful suction can cause the hose to ‘pull back’, so please take care.

• Take extra care when vacuuming on stairs; do not work with the vacuum cleaner above you on the stairs.

• Do not put the vacuum cleaner on chairs, tables, etc.

• The brushbar will not rotate when the machine is in an upright position.

• Ensure the wand cap is closed when not in use.

First, switch the DYSON DC25 ‘OFF’ and unplug it. Empty the bin as soon as the dirt reaches the level of the MAX mark; do not overfill.

To remove the clear bin™ from the machine, press the button at the rear of the cyclone carrying handle. To release the dirt, press the red bin release button.

Please note: Do not use the machine without the clear bin™ in place.

When cleaning the Clear bin™ on your DYSON DC25, please follow these instructions:

• Do not immerse the whole cyclone in water or pour water into the cyclones.

• Ensure the bin is completely dry before replacing it.

• Do not use detergents, polishes, or air fresheners to clean the bin.

• Do not put the bin in a dishwasher.

Your DYSON DC25 has two filters. It is important to check your filters regularly and wash them with cold water at least every 3 months to maintain performance. Always switch ‘OFF’ and unplug the machine before removing the filters.

For Filter A (in the cyclone):

1. Remove the filter and wash it with cold water.

2. Leave it to dry completely for 24 hours before refitting.

For Filter B (in the ball):

1. Remove the filter from the ball.

2. Rinse and shake the filter under the tap. Turn it over and tap very firmly to remove motor emissions. Repeat this process 10 times or until the water runs clear.

3. Tap it out again to ensure all excess water is removed.

4. Leave it to dry completely for 24 hours before refitting.

Important Cautions:

• Ensure filters are completely dry before refitting them to the machine.

• It is normal for the filter in the ball to turn grey in color. The filters may require more frequent washing if vacuuming fine dust.

• Do not use detergents to clean the filters.

• Do not put the filters in the dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, oven, microwave, or near an open flame.

If your DYSON DC25 becomes blocked, it may overheat and automatically shut off due to its thermal cut-out. If this happens, switch ‘OFF’, unplug the machine, and let it cool down for at least 60 minutes before checking for blockages.

To check for blockages:

1. Switch ‘OFF’ and unplug the machine before checking. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

2. Ensure the machine is upright and switched off before removing the hose or airway inspection parts.

3. Beware of sharp objects when clearing blockages.

4. Check the main airway and hose for any obstructions.

5. Refit all parts of the machine securely before using.

Clear any blockages before restarting the machine.

If the brushbar on your DYSON DC25 is obstructed, it may shut off. To fix this, you must clear the obstruction.

1. Switch ‘OFF’ and unplug the machine. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

2. Turn the cleaner head upside down.

3. Use a coin to turn the fastener to unlock it.

4. Remove the brushbar from the cleaner head.

5. Clear any obstructing debris, such as hair or fibers, from the brushbar.

6. Place the brushbar back into the cleaner head.

7. Turn the fastener with a coin to lock it back into place.

8. Refit all parts securely before using the vacuum again.
