The CHIQ CBM282NBS refrigerator uses flammable refrigerant (R600a) and gas. Failure to follow these instructions can result in electric shock, fire, or death.

Your CHIQ CBM282NBS refrigerator must be grounded. It is equipped with a cord having a grounding wire with a grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an outlet that is correctly installed and grounded.

For proper installation of your CHIQ CBM282NBS, follow these guidelines:

Ventilation Condition: The position you select for the refrigerator installation should be well-ventilated and have less hot air. Do not locate the refrigerator near a heat source such as a cooker or boiler, and avoid direct sunlight. Do not locate it in a damp place, to prevent rusting and leaking electricity. The result of the total space of the room in which the refrigerator is installed being divided by the refrigerant charge amount of the refrigerator shall not be less than 8 g/M³.

Heat Dissipation Space: When working, the refrigerator gives off heat to its surroundings. Therefore, you must leave adequate free space. At least 30mm of free space should be spared at the top side, more than 50mm on both sides, and above 50mm at the back side of the refrigerator.

Level Ground: Place the refrigerator on a solid and flat floor to keep it stable, or else it will give rise to vibration and noise. If placed on flooring materials like carpet, straw mat, or polyvinyl chloride, apply solid backing plates underneath to prevent color change due to heat dissipation.

Ensure that unobstructed ventilation is maintained around the appliance or in an embedded structure.

Follow these steps to prepare your CHIQ CBM282NBS for use:

1. Standing time: After the refrigerator is properly installed and well cleaned, do not switch it on immediately. Make sure to energize the refrigerator after more than 1 hour of standing to ensure its normal operation.

2. Cleaning: Confirm the accessory parts inside the refrigerator and wipe the inside with a soft cloth.

3. Power-on: Insert the plug into a solid socket to start the compressor. After 1 hour, open the freezer door. If the temperature inside the freezer compartment drops obviously, it indicates the refrigeration system is working normally.

4. Storage of food: After the refrigerator runs for a period of time, the internal temperature will be automatically controlled according to your temperature setting. After the refrigerator is fully cooled, put in foods, which usually need 2-3 hours to be fully cooled. In summer, when the temperature is high, it takes more than 4 hours for foods to be fully cooled. Try to open the refrigerator door as little as possible before the internal temperature cools down.

If the refrigerator is installed in a moist place, make sure to check whether the ground wire and leakage circuit breaker are normal. If vibration noises are produced due to the refrigerator contacting the wall or if the wall gets blackened by air convection around the compressor, move the refrigerator away from the wall.

The fridge temperature on your CHIQ CBM282NBS can be adjusted by pressing the ‘SET’ key on the display panel. Every time the “SET” key is pressed, the current mode indicator light turns off and the next mode indicator lights up. The setting is validated if there is no key operation within 5 seconds.

The temperature modes cycle in the following order: “3 -> 2 -> 1 -> Fast Cool -> 5 -> 4 -> 3”.

The temperature settings are:

COLD

• 1: When the user does not need a colder temperature.

• 2: For normal use.

• 3: For normal use (Recommended).

• 4: For normal use.

COLDEST

• 5: When the user needs a colder temperature.

The “Fast Cool” mode is for rapid cooling.

The freezer temperature is controlled by the air regulating rod (slider) located inside the refrigerator compartment. The temperature balance between the fridge and freezer compartments is adjusted by moving this slider.

• When the temperature mode (set on the control panel) is unchanged, adjust the air regulating rod from left to right. This will decrease the fridge temperature and increase the freezer temperature.

• When the temperature mode is unchanged, adjust the air regulating rod from right to left. This will increase the fridge temperature and decrease the freezer temperature.

It is recommended to keep the air regulating rod in the middle position (Recommended). If you need a lower freezer temperature, adjust the rod to the left. This will make the freezer colder and the fridge warmer.

The fridge thermostat (control panel) and the air regulating rod (slider) should be used in combination for optimal performance. Follow these recommendations based on the ambient temperature:

Additional Notes:

• When the refrigerator is used under ambient temperature higher than 35°C, do not set it at Mode 5 on the temperature control panel, and meanwhile, adjust the air regulating rod to the right side of the middle position. This will ensure the normal operation of the fridge compartment.

• When the refrigerator is used under ambient temperature lower than 35°C, do not adjust the air regulating rod to the right side when the temperature mode is set at Mode 5, in order to avoid the fridge temperature being undercooled.

• If the fridge temperature is not cool or is undercooled, set the thermostat at the middle mode and adjust the air regulating rod in the middle position.

The Fast Cool function on the CHIQ CBM282NBS is designed to cool down the temperature in a rapid manner. This is beneficial for preventing the loss of food nutrition and preserving freshness. After a cumulative running period of 30 hours, the fast cooling function will exit automatically, and the temperature mode will be restored to the setting that was active before the function was enabled.

Yes, the CHIQ CBM282NBS has a door open alarm. If the fridge door is open for more than 3 minutes, buzzer alarms will be continuously issued. The alarm can be stopped by pressing any key, but it will be restored after 3 minutes if the door remains open. The alarms will not stop until the door is closed.

The CHIQ CBM282NBS has a power cut memory feature. In case of a power outage, the refrigerator will maintain the running state that was set before the power failure. The settings will be restored once power recovers.

To protect the refrigerator’s compressor from being damaged in the case of a short-time power failure (i.e., less than 5 minutes), the compressor will not be started immediately after it is powered on. There will be a short delay.

If the indicator light of Mode 1, Mode 3, or Mode 5 on the control panel keeps flashing, it indicates a refrigerator fault. If this occurs, please contact after-sales personnel for visiting service as soon as possible.

Due to the cold air circulation in the refrigerator, the temperature of each area is different, so different kinds of food should be placed in different areas.

• Fresh food compartment (Fridge): Suitable for the storage of foods that do not need to be frozen, such as cooked food, beer, eggs, some condiments that need cold preservation, milk, fruit juice, etc.

• Crisper box: Suitable for the preservation of vegetables, fruits, etc.

• Freezer compartment: Suitable for the storage of ice cream, frozen food, and foods to be preserved for a long time.

Fridge shelf:

• To remove the shelf, lift it up first, and then pull it out.

• To install the shelf, place it into position before putting it down.

• For the two-section shelf, push the first section to the rear end, and then pull the second section out.

• Keep the shelf rear flange upward to prevent foods from contacting the liner wall. When taking out or putting in the shelf, hold it firmly and handle it with care to avoid damage.

Crisper box: Pull out the crisper box for access to food. After using or cleaning the cover plate of the crisper box, be sure to put it back onto the crisper, so that the internal temperature of the crisper box will not be affected.

Cautions for food storage:

• It is better to clean foods and wipe them dry before storing them inside the refrigerator.

• Before putting foods in the refrigerator, it is advisable to seal them to prevent water evaporation and taint of odor.

• Do not put too many or too heavy foods inside. Keep enough space between foods; if too close, the cold air flow will be blocked, affecting refrigeration.

• Do not store excessive or overweight foods to avoid the shelf from being crushed.

• When storing foods, keep a distance away from the inner wall; and do not place water-rich foods too close to the fridge rear wall, lest they get frozen on the inner wall.

• Store foods by category, with the foods you eat every day placed in front of the shelf, to shorten door open duration and avoid food spoilage.

The freezer temperature is controlled below -18 °C. It is advisable to store food for long-term preservation in the freezer compartment, but the storage duration indicated on the food packaging should be adhered to.

The freezer drawers are used to store food that needs to be frozen. Fish and meat of large block size should be cut into small pieces and packed into fresh-keeping bags before they are evenly distributed inside the freezer drawers.

• Allow hot foods to cool down to room temperature before putting them in the freezer compartment.

• Do not put a glass container with liquid or canned liquid that is sealed in the freezer compartment, as it may burst due to volume expansion after the liquid gets frozen.

• Divide the food into appropriately small portions.

• It is better to pack the food up before freezing it. The packing bag used should be dry to prevent bags from freezing together. Foods should be packed or covered by suitable materials that are firm, tasteless, impervious to air and water, non-toxic, and pollution-free, to avoid cross-contamination and transfer of odor.

Before cleaning, unplug the power plug first. Do not plug in or unplug the plug with a wet hand, because there is a risk of electric shock and injury. Do not spill water directly on the refrigerator to avoid rust, electricity leakage, and accidents. Do not stretch your hands into the bottom of the refrigerator, since you might be scratched by sharp metal corners.

Internal and External Cleaning

The food residuals in the refrigerator are liable to produce a bad odor, so the refrigerator must be cleaned regularly. The fresh food compartment is usually cleaned once a month.

1. Remove all shelves, crisper box, bottle racks, cover board, and drawers.

2. Clean them with a soft towel or sponge dipped in warm water or neutral detergent.

3. Clear off the dust accumulated on the rear panel and side plates of the refrigerator often.

4. After using detergent, be sure to rinse it with clean water, and then wipe it dry.

Do not use a bristle brush, steel wire brush, detergent, soap powder, alkaline detergent, benzene, gasoline, acid, hot water, or other corrosive or soluble items to cleanse the cabinet surface, door gasket, or plastic decorative parts, so as to avoid damage.

Carefully wipe the door gasket dry. Clean the groove using a wooden chopstick wrapped with a cotton string. After cleaning, fix the four corners of the door gasket first, and then embed it segment by segment into the door groove.

Take care of the frozen foods in the event of an extended non-running of the refrigerating appliance (such as interruption of power supply or failure of the refrigerating system).

• Try to open the refrigerator door as little as possible; in this way, food can be safely and freshly kept for hours, even in the hot summer.

• If you get a power outage notice in advance:

1) Adjust the thermostat knob to the high mode an hour in advance, so that foods get fully frozen (Do not store new food during this time!). Restore the temperature mode to the original setting when power supply becomes normal in a timely manner.

2) You can also make ice with a watertight container and put it in the upper part of the freezer to extend the time for fresh food to be stored.

Regarding the following small faults, not every failure needs to be fixed by technical service personnel; you can try to solve the problem yourself. If the descriptions below are inapplicable to your troubleshooting, do not disassemble and repair it yourself. Contact an authorized engineer.

Follow these steps to reverse the door on your CHIQ CBM282NBS. Ensure the refrigerator is unplugged before you begin.

1. Make sure that your refrigerator is unplugged.

2. Pry the hinge cover up and off, remove the screws that secure the upper hinge to the door, then remove the hinge.

3. Remove the refrigerator compartment door from the cabinet.

4. Remove the screws that secure the center hinge.

5. Remove the refrigerator compartment door.

6. Remove the screws that secure the lower hinge to the right side of the cabinet, then remove the hinge.

7. Remove the washer and nut that secure the pin screw to the right hole on the lower hinge, then remove the pin screw and two pin shafts from the low hinge.

8. Install the pin screw into the left hole and insert the pin shafts into the adjacent holes, then secure the pin screw with the washer and nut.

9. Install the lower hinge on the left side of the cabinet and install the adjust foot on the right side of cabinet.

10. Remove the screw that secures the door stops from the bottom right of the freezer compartment door, then remove the door stops and install them on the bottom left side.

11. Install the freezer compartment door.

12. Remove the door bushing hole cover on the top left side of the freezer door, then move the door bushing from the top right of the door to the top left of the door. Install the hole cover in the bushing hole on the top right of the door.

13. Remove the center hinge screw hole plugs on the left side of the cabinet, then install the plugs in the screw holes on the right side of the cabinet.

14. Install the center hinge to the left side with the screws you removed previously.

15. Remove the screw that secures the door stops from the bottom right of the refrigerator compartment door, then remove the door stops and install to the bottom left side.

16. Install the refrigerator compartment door.

17. Remove the door bushing hole cover on the top left side of the refrigerator compartment door, then move the door bushing from the top right of the door to the top left of the door. Install the hole cover in the bushing hole on the top right of the door.

18. Remove the hinge screw hole cover from the top left side of the cabinet, then install it on the top right side of the cabinet.

19. Secure the upper hinge to the top left side of the cabinet with the screws you removed previously. Before you tighten the upper hinge screws, make sure that the top of the door is level with the cabinet and that the rubber gasket makes a good seal.

20. Install the hinge cover over the hinge on the top left side of the cabinet.
