Your CHIQ CBM280NB refrigerator must be grounded. It is equipped with a cord having a grounding wire with a grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an outlet that is correctly installed and grounded. Incorrect use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or service person if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether your refrigerator is correctly grounded.

Ventilation and Location:

Choose a well-ventilated location with less hot air. Do not place the refrigerator near a heat source like a cooker or boiler, and avoid direct sunlight. This ensures better refrigeration and saves energy. Do not locate the refrigerator in a damp place to prevent rust and electricity leakage. The total space of the room where the refrigerator is installed divided by the refrigerant charge amount should not be less than 8 g/M³.

Heat Dissipation Space:

The refrigerator gives off heat during operation. You must allow for adequate free space around it. At least 30mm of free space should be spared at the top side, more than 50mm on both sides, and above 50mm at the back side of the refrigerator.

The required dimensions are as follows (in mm):

Level Ground:

Place the refrigerator on a solid and flat floor to keep it stable and prevent vibration and noise. If placed on flooring like carpet or vinyl chloride, use solid backing plates underneath to prevent color change from heat dissipation.

Unobstructed ventilation must be maintained around the appliance.

Follow these steps to prepare your CHIQ CBM280NB refrigerator for its first use:

1. Standing time: After the refrigerator is properly installed and cleaned, do not switch it on immediately. Let it stand for more than 1 hour before energizing to ensure its normal operation.

2. Cleaning: Confirm all accessory parts are inside the refrigerator and wipe the interior with a soft cloth.

3. Power-on: Insert the plug into a solid socket to start the compressor. After 1 hour, open the freezer door. If the temperature inside has dropped, it indicates the refrigeration system is working normally.

4. Storage of food: After the refrigerator has run for a period and is fully cooled, you can put food inside. It usually takes 2-3 hours for food to be fully cooled. In summer, when the temperature is high, it can take more than 4 hours.

Note: If the refrigerator is installed in a moist place, check that the ground wire and leakage circuit breaker are normal. If you experience vibration noises from the refrigerator contacting a wall or if the wall gets blackened by air convection, move the refrigerator away from the wall. Keep the refrigerator away from devices like mobile phones, televisions, or radios to avoid interference.

When the refrigerator is powered on for the first time, all icons on the display panel will illuminate for 2 seconds.

Temperature can be adjusted by pressing the ‘SET’ key. Each press cycles through the modes. The current mode indicator light will turn off, and the next mode indicator will light up. The setting is validated if there is no key operation within 5 seconds.

The temperature modes cycle as follows: “3 -> 2 -> 1 -> Fast Cool -> 5 -> 4 -> 3”.

The temperature settings are:

The freezer temperature is adjusted using the air regulating rod (slider) located inside the refrigerator compartment.

• When the fridge temperature mode (set by the ‘SET’ button) is unchanged, adjusting the air regulating rod from left (Coldest) to right (Cold) will decrease the fridge temperature while increasing the freezer temperature.

• When the fridge temperature mode is unchanged, adjusting the air regulating rod from right (Cold) to left (Coldest) will increase the fridge temperature while decreasing the freezer temperature.

• It is recommended to keep the air regulating rod in the middle (Recommended) position for normal use. If you need a lower freezer temperature, adjust the rod to the left. This will decrease the freezer temperature and cause the fridge temperature to rise.

The fridge thermostat and the air regulating rod should be used in combination for optimal performance. Follow this guide for different ambient temperatures:

Notes:

• It is generally recommended to set the thermostat at the middle mode.

• When the refrigerator is used under ambient temperature higher than 35°C, do not set it at Mode 5 on the temperature control panel, and adjust the air regulating rod to the right side of the middle position to ensure normal operation of the fridge compartment.

• When the refrigerator is used under ambient temperature lower than 35°C with the temperature mode at 5, do not adjust the air regulating rod to the right side to avoid the fridge temperature being undercooled.

• If the fridge temperature is not cool or is undercooled, set the thermostat at the middle mode and adjust the air regulating rod to the middle position.

1.2 Fast Cool

The Fast Cool function rapidly cools the temperature, which is beneficial for preserving food nutrition and freshness. After a cumulative running period of 30 hours, the fast cooling function will automatically exit, and the temperature mode will return to the setting it was on before the function was enabled.

1.3 Door open alarm

If the fridge door is open for more than 3 minutes, a buzzer alarm will sound continuously. The alarm can be stopped by pressing any key, but it will resume after 3 minutes if the door remains open. The alarm will not stop until the door is closed.

1.4 Power cut memory

In case of a power outage, the refrigerator will maintain the running state that was set before the power failure once power is restored.

1.5 Power-on delay

To protect the compressor from damage during short-time power failures (less than 5 minutes), the compressor will not start immediately after it is powered on.

1.6 Fault alarm

If the indicator light for Mode 1, Mode 3, or Mode 5 keeps flashing, it indicates a refrigerator fault. Please contact after-sales personnel for service.

Precautions for Use

• The appliance might not operate consistently if sited for an extended period below the cold limit of its temperature range.

• The internal temperature can be affected by the location, ambient temperature, and frequency of door openings.

• Effervescent drinks should not be stored in the freezer compartment. Some products like water ices should not be consumed too cold.

Food Storage Location

Due to cold air circulation, temperatures vary in different areas.

• Fresh food compartment (fridge): Suitable for foods that do not need to be frozen, like cooked food, beer, eggs, some condiments, milk, fruit juice, etc.

• Crisper box: Suitable for the preservation of vegetables, fruits, etc.

• Freezer compartment: Suitable for storing ice cream, frozen food, and foods to be preserved for a long time.

Cautions for Food Storage

• Clean and wipe foods dry before storing. It is advisable to seal them to prevent water evaporation (keeping fruits and vegetables fresh) and prevent odor taint.

• Do not put too many or too heavy foods in the refrigerator. Keep enough space between foods for cold air flow.

• Do not store excessive or overweight foods to avoid crushing the shelves.

• Keep a distance from the inner wall when storing foods. Do not place water-rich foods too close to the rear wall, lest they get frozen on the inner wall.

• Store foods by category. Place foods you eat every day in front of the shelf to shorten door opening duration.

• Energy-saving tip: Allow hot food to cool down to room temperature before putting it in the refrigerator. Put frozen food in the fresh food compartment to thaw, using its low temperature to cool the fresh food, thus saving energy.

The freezer temperature is controlled below -18 °C. It is advisable to store food for long-term preservation in the freezer compartment, adhering to the storage duration on the food packaging.

• The freezer drawers store food that needs to be frozen. Cut large blocks of fish and meat into small pieces and pack them in fresh-keeping bags before distributing them evenly inside the freezer drawers.

• Allow hot foods to cool down to room temperature before putting them in the freezer compartment.

• Do not put a glass container with liquid or a sealed canned liquid in the freezer, as it may burst due to volume expansion when frozen.

• Divide food into appropriately small portions.

• Pack food before freezing it. The packing bag should be dry to prevent bags from freezing together. Foods should be packed in materials that are firm, tasteless, impervious to air and water, non-toxic, and pollution-free to avoid cross-contamination.

1. When buying frozen food, look at the Storage Guidelines on the packaging. You can store each item for the period shown against the star rating.

2. Check the temperature of the frozen food cabinet in the shop where you buy the frozen foods.

3. Make sure the frozen food package is in perfect condition.

4. Always buy frozen products last on your shopping trip.

5. Try to keep frozen food together whilst shopping and on the journey home to keep it cooler.

6. Don’t buy frozen food unless you can freeze it straight away. Special insulated bags can help keep frozen foods cold longer.

7. For some foods, thawing before cooking is unnecessary. Vegetables and pasta can be added directly to boiling water or steam cooked.

8. Use quality food and handle it as little as possible. When foods are frozen in small quantities, it will take less time to freeze and thaw.

9. Estimate the amount of foods to be frozen. When freezing large amounts of fresh food, adjust the temperature control knob to the low mode to lower the freezer temperature for faster freezing.

Moving the refrigerator/freezer

• Location: Do not place your refrigerator near a heat source (e.g., cooker, boiler) or in direct sunlight.

• Leveling: Ensure the refrigerator is level using the front leveling feet. If not level, the door gasket sealing performance can be affected, potentially leading to operating failure.

• Installation: After positioning the refrigerator, wait 4 hours before using it to allow the refrigerant to settle. Do not cover or block the vents or grilles.

When you are out for a long time

• If the appliance will not be used for several months, turn it off first, then unplug it from the wall outlet.

• Take out all foods.

• Clean and dry the interior thoroughly. To prevent odor and mold growth, leave the door ajar: block it open or have the door removed if necessary.

• Keep the cleaned appliance in a dry, ventilated place away from heat sources. Place the appliance smoothly and do not place heavy objects on top of it.

• The unit should not be accessible to child’s play.

Before cleaning, unplug the power plug. Do not handle the plug with a wet hand to avoid electric shock. Do not spill water directly on the refrigerator.

Internal and External Cleaning

Food residuals can produce bad odor, so the refrigerator must be cleaned regularly. The fresh food compartment is usually cleaned once a month.

1. Remove all shelves, crisper box, bottle racks, cover board, and drawers.

2. Clean them with a soft towel or sponge dipped in warm water or neutral detergent.

3. Clear off dust accumulated on the rear panel and side plates of the refrigerator often.

4. After using detergent, rinse with clean water, and then wipe it dry.

Do not use bristle brush, steel wire brush, detergent, soap powder, alkaline detergent, benzene, gasoline, acid, hot water or other corrosive or soluble items to clean the cabinet surface, door gasket, or plastic parts.

Door Gasket Cleaning

Carefully wipe the door gasket dry. Clean the groove using a wooden chopstick wrapped with a cotton string. After cleaning, fix the four corners of the door gasket first, then embed it segment by segment into the door groove.

Interruption of Power Supply

• Take care of frozen foods in the event of an extended non-running of the appliance.

• Try to open the refrigerator door as little as possible.

• If you get a power outage notice in advance:

1) Adjust the thermostat knob to the high mode an hour in advance to fully freeze foods. Restore the temperature mode to the original setting when power supply becomes normal.

2) You can also make ice with a watertight container and put it in the upper part of the freezer to extend the storage time for fresh food.

Note: Once the refrigerator is used, it’s best to use it continuously.

Your CHIQ CBM280NB is designed with an automatic defrosting function, so there is no need to defrost it manually.

Before calling for service, you can try to solve the problem using the table below. Note: If the descriptions are inapplicable, do not disassemble and repair it yourself. Contact the store where your purchase was made.

Follow these steps to reverse the doors on your CHIQ CBM280NB. Ensure the refrigerator is unplugged before you begin.

1. Make sure your refrigerator is unplugged.

2. Pry the hinge cover up and off from the top right, remove the screws that secure the upper hinge, then remove the hinge.

3. Remove the refrigerator compartment door from the cabinet.

4. Remove the screws that secure the center hinge.

5. Remove the freezer compartment door.

6. Remove the screws that secure the lower hinge to the right side of the cabinet, then remove the hinge.

7. Remove the washer and nut that secure the pin screw to the right hole on the lower hinge. Then remove the pin screw and two pin shafts from the lower hinge.

8. Install the pin screw into the left hole of the lower hinge and insert the pin shafts into the adjacent holes. Secure the pin screw with the washer and nut.

9. Install the lower hinge on the left side of the cabinet and install the adjust foot on the right side of the cabinet.

10. Remove the screw that secures the door stops from the bottom right of the freezer compartment door. Remove the door stops and install them on the bottom left side.

11. Install the freezer compartment door.

12. Remove the door bushing hole cover on the top left side of the freezer door. Move the door bushing from the top right of the door to the top left. Install the hole cover in the bushing hole on the top right of the door.

13. Remove the center hinge screw hole plugs from the left side of the cabinet, then install the plugs in the screw holes on the right side.

14. Install the center hinge to the left side with the screws you removed previously.

15. Remove the screw that secures the door stops from the bottom right of the refrigerator compartment door, then remove the door stops and install them on the bottom left side.

16. Install the refrigerator compartment door.

17. Remove the door bushing hole cover from the top left side of the refrigerator compartment door. Move the door bushing from the top right of the door to the top left. Install the hole cover in the bushing hole on the top right of the door.

18. Remove the hinge screw hole cover from the top left side of the cabinet, then install it on the top right side.

19. Secure the upper hinge to the top left side of the cabinet with the screws you removed previously. Before you tighten the upper hinge screws, make sure the top of the door is level with the cabinet and that the rubber gasket makes a good seal.

20. Install the hinge cover over the hinge on the top left side of the cabinet.
