What safety precautions should I follow when using the BLANCO BRS90X rangehood?

Please adhere to the following safety precautions when operating your BLANCO BRS90X rangehood:

• Take care when the rangehood is operating simultaneously with an open fireplace or burner that depends on the air in the environment and are supplied by other than electrical energy. The rangehood removes air that a burner or fireplace might need for combustion. The negative pressure in the environment must not exceed 4Pa (4×10-5 bar). Provide adequate ventilation for safe operation.

• Before connecting to the electricity network, check the data plate inside the appliance to ensure the voltage and power correspond to your network and socket.

• The appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision. Young children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid a hazard.

• There must be adequate ventilation of the room when the rangehood is used at the same time as appliances burning gas or other fuels.

• Ensure the rangehood is cleaned frequently. There is a risk of fire if cleaning is not carried out according to the instructions.

• Do not flambé under the rangehood.

What are the installation requirements and warnings for the BLANCO BRS90X?

For a safe installation of your BLANCO BRS90X, please follow these guidelines:

• The exhaust air must not be discharged into a flue which is used for exhausting fumes from appliances burning gas or other fuels.

• The minimum distance between the support surfaces of the cooking pots on the cooker top and the lowest part of the rangehood must be at least 65 cm.

• The regulations concerning the discharge of exhaust air have to be fulfilled.

• Warning: Failure to install the screws or fixing device in accordance with these instructions may result in electrical hazards.

• The appliance is manufactured as a class II appliance, so no earth cable is necessary. The connection to the mains is BROWN = L line and BLUE = N neutral.

• If a plug is not provided, one must be connected for the electrical load indicated on the description label. Where a plug is provided, install the rangehood so the plug is easily accessible.

• For a direct connection to the electrical network, an omnipolar switch with a minimum opening of 3mm between contacts must be placed between the appliance and the network.

How can the BLANCO BRS90X rangehood be installed?

The BLANCO BRS90X can be installed in two ways:

1. Ducted to the atmosphere (outside): This method is recommended for optimum performance. It expels fumes through an outside wall or duct.

2. Recirculating: This method recirculates the air back into the room and should only be used when outside extraction is not possible. Carbon filters must be used for this installation type.

For installation, the rangehood must be mounted on the lower side of a cupboard or other suitable support. Use 4 screws suitable for the cupboard. Align the front of the rangehood to the cupboard door and adjust the L wall spacer. The rear of the appliance must then align with the cupboard.

What are the recommendations for ducting my BLANCO BRS90X?

To ensure maximum performance when ducting your BLANCO BRS90X, it is important that the ducting is as short and as straight as possible. Please consider the following points:

1. Ducting carrying the exhaust air should not exceed a length of three (3) metres.

2. For ducted installation, it is recommended to use galvanised or similar metal type flue pipe. PVC pipe is not recommended.

3. Ducting containing a 90° degree bend will encounter a loss in efficiency of approximately 35%. Additional 90° degree bends can cause losses of up to 15% per bend.

4. Ducting size should always comply with the manufacturer’s specification.

5. Do not connect the rangehood exhaust to the same conductor used to circulate hot air or for evacuating fumes from other appliances generated by a non-electrical source.

How do I set up the BLANCO BRS90X for recirculation mode?

To transform the rangehood from the extraction version to the recirculating version, you need an activated carbon filter. The filter cleans the air in the room. It is not washable or reusable and must be replaced at least every 4 months.

To install the filter:

1. Remove the grill (G) as shown in fig. 2.

2. Fit the carbon filter to the motor in the centre of the fan grille.

3. Twist it by 90 degrees until it is gripped securely.

The clean air is then returned into the room through a connecting tube that passes inside the cupboard and connects to the ring B (Fig.1).

What are the use and maintenance instructions for the BLANCO BRS90X?

• It is recommended to operate the appliance prior to cooking and to leave it in operation for 15 minutes after cooking is terminated to completely eliminate cooking vapours and odours.

• The aluminium filters capture grease particles and should be cleaned at a maximum of every 2 months to prevent a fire hazard.

• The active carbon filters (for recirculation mode) purify the air and must be replaced at maximum every four months. They are not washable or reusable.

• Clean the fan and other surfaces of the rangehood regularly using a cloth moistened with a non-abrasive liquid detergent.

• The rangehood lighting is designed for use during cooking, not for prolonged general illumination. Prolonged use of the lighting will reduce the life of the bulb.

How do I clean the aluminium grease filters on my BLANCO BRS90X?

To clean the aluminium filters on your BLANCO BRS90X, follow these instructions every 2 months:

1. Remove the aluminium filters from the rangehood.

2. Wash them in a solution of water and neutral liquid detergent, leaving them to soak.

3. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and leave to dry.

Alternatively, the filters may also be washed in the dishwasher. Note that the aluminium panels may alter in colour after several washes, which is not a cause for complaint or replacement.

Key E: Activates the Timer for 15 minutes, after which functions are switched off. Re-press Key E to deactivate. The decimal point on the display will flash when the Timer is active. The Timer cannot be activated if the intensive speed is functioning.

What is the “clean air” function on the BLANCO BRS90X and how do I use it?

The “clean air” function is activated by pressing key E for 2 seconds when the appliance is switched off. This function switches the motor on for 10 minutes every hour at the first speed. During operation, a rotary movement of the peripheral segments is visualized on the display. After 10 minutes, the motor switches off, and the fixed letter “C” is displayed until the motor re-starts after 50 minutes for another 10-minute cycle.

To return to normal functioning, press any key apart from the light keys. To deactivate the “clean air” function completely, press key E.

How does the BLANCO BRS90X indicate that filters need cleaning or replacing?

The BLANCO BRS90X has a filter saturation indicator on Display C:

Anti-grease filter cleaning: When display item C flashes, alternating between the speed number and the letter F (e.g., 1 and F), the anti-grease filters must be washed.
