What are the main safety precautions for using the BLANCO BRST60X rangehood?

Please follow these safety precautions when operating your BLANCO BRST60X rangehood:

• Take care when the rangehood is operating simultaneously with an open fireplace or burner that depends on the air in the environment. The rangehood removes air that a burner or fireplace might need for combustion. The negative pressure in the environment must not exceed 4Pa (4×10-5 bar). Provide adequate ventilation for safe operation.

• This appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision. Young children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid a hazard.

• Ensure there is adequate ventilation in the room when the rangehood is used at the same time as appliances burning gas or other fuels.

• Ensure that the rangehood is cleaned frequently. There is a risk of fire if cleaning is not carried out in accordance with the instructions.

• Do not flambé under the rangehood.

• The exhaust air must not be discharged into a flue which is used for exhausting fumes from appliances burning gas or other fuels.

What is the required installation distance for the BLANCO BRST60X above a cooktop?

The minimum distance between the support surfaces of the cooking pots on the cooker top and the lowest part of the BLANCO BRST60X rangehood must be at least 65 cm.

How should the BLANCO BRST60X be connected to the electricity supply?

The BLANCO BRST60X is a class II appliance, so no earth cable is necessary. The connection to the mains is carried out as follows:

• BROWN = L line

• BLUE = N neutral

If not provided, connect a plug for the electrical load indicated on the description label. Where a plug is provided, the rangehood must be installed so that the plug is easily accessible. In the case of a direct connection to the electrical network, an omnipolar switch with a minimum opening of 3mm between contacts must be placed between the appliance and the network, in line with the electrical load and local standards.

What are the installation options for the BLANCO BRST60X rangehood?

All Blanco rangehoods are designed for indoor application only and can be installed in two ways:

1. Ducted to the atmosphere (outside): This method is recommended to ensure optimum performance.

2. Recirculating: This method recirculates the air back into the room and should only be used when outside extraction is not possible.

How do I install the BLANCO BRST60X in a ducted (extraction) configuration?

To ensure maximum performance when ducting, it is important that the ducting carrying fumes away is as short and as straight as possible. Follow these guidelines:

1. Ducting from the rangehood should not exceed a length of three (3) metres.

2. Use galvanised or similar metal type flue pipe. PVC pipe is not recommended.

3. A 90° degree bend will cause an efficiency loss of approximately 35%. Additional 90° bends can cause losses of up to 15% per bend.

4. Ducting size should always comply with the manufacturer’s specification.

The appliance expels fumes through an outside wall or a duct. You will need to purchase a telescopic pipe in accordance with the standards in use and connect it to flange B.

How do I set up my BLANCO BRST60X for recirculation mode?

To transform the BLANCO BRST60X from the extraction version to the recirculating one, you need an activated carbon filter. This filter cleans the air in the room.

• The carbon filter is not washable or re-usable and must be replaced at least every 4 months.

• To install, remove the grill (G) and fit the filter to the motor in the centre of the fan grille by twisting it 90 degrees until it is securely gripped.

• The clean air is returned into the room through a connecting tube that passes inside the cupboard and connects to the ring B.

Note that there will be some loss of air movement when carbon filters are fitted.

What is the recommended procedure for using the BLANCO BRST60X during cooking?

It is recommended to operate the BLANCO BRST60X prior to cooking. It is also recommended to leave the appliance in operation for 15 minutes after cooking is terminated in order to completely eliminate cooking vapours and odours.

How should I clean and maintain the filters of the BLANCO BRST60X?

Aluminium Grease Filters:

The aluminium filters capture grease particles and are subject to clogging. To prevent a fire hazard, it is recommended to clean the aluminium filter at a maximum of 2 months by carrying out the following instructions:

1. Remove the aluminium filters from the rangehood.

2. Wash them in a solution of water and neutral liquid detergent, leaving them to soak.

3. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and leave to dry.

The filters may also be washed in the dishwasher. The aluminum panels may alter in colour after several washes, which is not a cause for customer complaint or replacement.

Active Carbon Filters (for recirculation mode):

The active carbon filters purify the air. These filters are not washable nor re-usable and must be replaced at a maximum of every four months. The saturation of the filter depends on the frequency of use, the type of cooking, and the regularity of cleaning the aluminium filters.

How do I replace the lamps on my BLANCO BRST60X?

Always use lamps of the same type and wattage as originally installed on the device.

For Halogen/Incandescent Lamps (Fig.5A):

With a small blade, remove the metal surround holding the glass in place. The lamp can then be pulled outward from its socket.

For 12 volt 20 W Halogen Light (Fig.5B):

1. Remove the glass retaining ring and glass.

2. Replace the globe with another of the same type.

3. Replace the glass and retaining ring.

How do I operate the push-button controls on my BLANCO BRST60X?

The push-button controls operate as follows:

Push-button A: On/off lights switch.

Push-button B: On/off cooker hood switch. The appliance switches on at speed level 1. If the hood is on, press the push-button for 2 seconds to switch it off. If the hood is at speed level 1, it is not necessary to depress the button to switch it off. This button also decreases the motor speed.

Display C: Indicates the motor speed level selected and activates the timer.

Push-button D: Switches on the cooker hood and increases the motor speed. Touching this key at the 3rd speed activates the intensive function, which runs for 10 minutes before returning to the original speed. During this function, the display blinks.

Key E: Activates the Timer and the “Clean Air” function.

How do the Timer and “Clean Air” functions work on the BLANCO BRST60X?

Timer Function:

Press Key E to activate the timer. This times the functions on activation for 15 minutes, after which they are switched off. The Timer is deactivated by re-pressing Key E. When the Timer is activated, the decimal point on the display will flash. The Timer cannot be activated if the intensive speed is functioning.

“Clean Air” Function:

This function is activated by pressing Key E for 2 seconds when the appliance is switched off. This switches the motor on for 10 minutes every hour at the first speed. During functioning, a rotary movement of the peripheral segments will be visualised on the display. After 10 minutes, the motor switches off and the fixed letter “C” is displayed until the motor re-starts after 50 minutes for another 10 minutes, and so on. To return to normal functioning, press any key apart from the light keys. Press Key E again to deactivate the function.

How will I know when to clean or replace the filters on my BLANCO BRST60X, and how do I reset the indicator?

The rangehood indicates when filters need attention through the display:

Anti-grease filter saturation: When display item C flashes, alternating between the speed number and the letter F (e.g., 1 and F), the anti-grease filters must be washed.

Active charcoal filter saturation: When display item C flashes, alternating between the speed number and the letter A (e.g., 1 and A), the active carbon filters must be replaced (or washed, depending on the type).

Resetting the indicator: After the clean filter has been positioned correctly, the electronic memory must be reset by pressing button A for approximately 5 seconds, until the F or A indication on the display stops flashing.

How do I use the slider controls on the BLANCO BRST60X?

The slider controls have the following functions:

A = Light switch

• A1 = Off key

• A2 = On key

C = Speed control

• C1 = Off key

• C2 = FIRST SPEED key

• C3 = SECOND SPEED key
