What are the main safety precautions when using the BLANCO BRS60X rangehood?

Please follow these safety precautions when operating your BLANCO BRS60X rangehood:

• Take care when the rangehood is operating at the same time as an open fireplace or burner that depends on the air in the environment and is supplied by energy other than electricity. The rangehood removes air that the burner or fireplace may need for combustion. The negative pressure in the environment must not exceed 4Pa (4×10-5 bar).

• Provide adequate ventilation in the environment for safe operation.

• Follow local laws applicable for external air evacuation.

• The appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision. Young children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid a hazard.

• There must be adequate ventilation of the room when the rangehood is used at the same time as appliances burning gas or other fuels.

• Ensure the rangehood is cleaned frequently. There is a risk of fire if cleaning is not carried out according to the instructions.

• Do not flambé under the rangehood.

What are the installation requirements for the BLANCO BRS60X rangehood?

For a safe and correct installation of your BLANCO BRS60X, please adhere to the following requirements:

Electrical Connection:

• The appliance is manufactured as a class II appliance, so no earth cable is necessary.

• The connection to the mains is: BROWN = L line, BLUE = N neutral.

• If a plug is not provided, connect one that is suitable for the electrical load indicated on the description label. The rangehood must be installed so the plug is easily accessible.

• If connecting directly to the network, an omnipolar switch with a minimum opening of 3mm between contacts must be placed between the appliance and the network, in line with the electrical load and local standards.

Positioning:

• The minimum distance between the support surfaces of the cooking pots on the cooker top and the lowest part of the rangehood must be at least 65 cm.

Venting:

• The exhaust air must not be discharged into a flue which is used for exhausting fumes from appliances burning gas or other fuels.

• The regulations concerning the discharge of exhaust air must be fulfilled.

• Do not connect the rangehood exhaust to the same conductor used to circulate hot air or for evacuating fumes from other non-electrical appliances.

Warning: Failure to install the screws or fixing device in accordance with these instructions may result in electrical hazards.

How do I mount the BLANCO BRS60X rangehood?

To mount the BLANCO BRS60X rangehood, it must be fitted to the lower side of a cupboard or other suitable support. Follow these steps:

1. Use 4 screws suitable for the cupboard material, using the holes indicated in Fig. 1 of the manual.

2. When mounting, align the front of the rangehood with the door of the cupboard.

3. Regulate the L wall spacer using the screws marked P (Fig. 2).

4. The rear of the appliance must then align with the cupboard.

How do I set up my BLANCO BRS60X for ducted (extraction) or recirculating operation?

Your BLANCO BRS60X can be installed in two ways: ducted to the outside or recirculating.

Ducted (Extraction) to the Outside:

This method expels fumes through an outside wall or duct. We recommend ducting to the atmosphere for optimum performance.

• For ducted installation, it is necessary to buy a telescopic pipe and connect it to the flange B (Fig. 3-4).

• Ducting should not exceed a length of three (3) meters.

• It is recommended to use galvanised or similar metal type flue pipe. PVC pipe is not recommended.

• A 90° degree bend in the ducting will cause an efficiency loss of approximately 35%. Additional 90° bends can cause losses of up to 15% per bend.

• Ducting size should always comply with the manufacturer’s specification.

Recirculating:

This method is used when outside extraction is not possible. The air is cleaned and returned to the room.

1. To convert the rangehood from the extraction version to the recirculating one, you will need an activated carbon filter.

2. The activated carbon filter cleans the air in the room. This filter is not washable or reusable and must be replaced at least every 4 months.

3. To fit the filter, remove the grill (G) as shown in Fig. 2.

4. Fit the carbon filter to the motor in the center of the fan grille by twisting it 90 degrees until it is securely gripped.

5. The clean air is returned into the room through a connecting tube that passes inside the cupboard and connects to the ring B (Fig. 1).

What are the general use and maintenance guidelines for the BLANCO BRS60X rangehood?

• It is recommended to operate the BLANCO BRS60X prior to cooking.

• It is recommended to leave the appliance in operation for 15 minutes after cooking is terminated to completely eliminate cooking vapors and odors.

• The proper function of the rangehood is conditioned by the regularity of maintenance operations, particularly for the active carbon filter and aluminum grease filters.

• Clean the fan and other surfaces of the rangehood regularly using a cloth moistened with a non-abrasive liquid detergent.

• The rangehood lighting is designed for use during cooking, not for prolonged general illumination. Prolonged use of the lighting notably reduces the life of the bulb.

How do I clean the filters and surfaces of my BLANCO BRS60X?

Aluminium Grease Filters:

The aluminum filters capture grease particles and are subject to clogging. To prevent a fire hazard, clean the aluminum filters at a maximum of every 2 months.

1. Remove the aluminum filters from the rangehood.

2. Wash them in a solution of water and neutral liquid detergent, leaving them to soak.

3. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and leave to dry.

4. The filters may also be washed in the dishwasher. The aluminum panels may alter in color after several washes; this is not a cause for complaint or replacement.

Active Carbon Filters (for Recirculating mode):

• The active carbon filters purify the air. They are not washable nor reusable and must be replaced at a maximum of every four months.

• The saturation of the filter depends on the frequency of use, the type of cooking, and the regularity of cleaning the aluminum filters.

Rangehood Surfaces:

• Clean the fan and other surfaces of the rangehood regularly using a cloth moistened with a non-abrasive liquid detergent.

How do I replace the lamps in my BLANCO BRS60X rangehood?

Only use lamps of the same type and wattage as those installed on the device.

Replacing Halogen/Incandescent Lamps (Fig. 5A):

This applies to Incandescent Tubolar Lamp (Ø25mm – L85 – E14 – 40W) and Candle Halogen Lamp (Ø35mm – E14 – 28W).

Replacing Halogen Light (Fig. 5B):

This applies to a 12 volt 20 W Halogen lamp.

1. To replace this lamp, use a small blade to remove the metal surround holding the glass in place.

2. The lamp can be pulled outward from its socket.

3. Alternatively, remove the glass retaining ring and glass.

4. Replace the globe with another of the same type.

5. Replace the glass and retaining ring/metal surround.

How do I use the push-button controls on my BLANCO BRS60X?

The push-button controls (Fig. 6) function as follows:

Push-button A: On/off switch for the lights.

Push-button B: On/off switch for the cooker hood motor. The appliance switches on at speed level 1. If the hood is on, press this button for 2 seconds to switch it off. This button also decreases the motor speed.

Display C: Indicates the motor speed level selected and activates the timer.

Push-button D: Switches on the cooker hood and increases the motor speed. Touching this key when at speed 3 activates the intensive function, which runs for 10 minutes before returning to the original speed. The display blinks during this function.

Key E (Timer): Times the functions on activation for 15 minutes, after which they are switched off. The Timer is deactivated by re-pressing Key E. When the Timer is activated, the decimal point will flash on the display. The Timer cannot be activated if the intensive speed is functioning.

How does the “clean air” function work on the BLANCO BRS60X?

The “clean air” function is activated by pressing key E for 2 seconds when the appliance is switched off. This function switches the motor on for 10 minutes every hour at the first speed. During functioning, a rotary movement of the peripheral segments will be visualized on the display. When the 10 minutes have passed, the motor switches off, and the fixed letter “C” is visualized on the display until the motor re-starts after 50 minutes for another 10-minute cycle. To return to normal functioning, press any key apart from the light keys. Press key E to deactivate the function.

What do the flashing filter saturation indicators on my BLANCO BRS60X mean?

Your BLANCO BRS60X will alert you when filters need maintenance:

Anti-grease filter saturation: When display item C flashes, alternating between the speed number and the letter F (e.g., 1 and F), the anti-grease filters must be washed.

Active charcoal filter saturation: When display item C flashes, alternating between the speed number and the letter A (e.g., 1 and A), the active carbon filters must be replaced (or washed, depending on the type).

Resetting the indicator: After the clean filter has been positioned correctly, the electronic memory must be reset by pressing button A for approximately 5 seconds, until the indication F or A shown on the display C stops flashing.
