Please adhere to the following safety precautions when using your BLANCO BRS902W rangehood:

• Take care when the rangehood is operating simultaneously with an open fireplace or burner that depends on the air in the environment and are supplied by other than electrical energy. The rangehood removes air that a burner or fireplace needs for combustion. The negative pressure in the environment must not exceed 4Pa (4×10-5 bar). Provide adequate ventilation for safe operation.

• The appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision. Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

• There shall be adequate ventilation of the room when the range hood is used at the same time as appliances burning gas or other fuels.

• Ensure that the range hood is cleaned frequently. There is a risk of fire if cleaning is not carried out in accordance with the instructions.

• Do not flambé under the range hood.

When installing the BLANCO BRS902W rangehood, please note the following warnings:

• The exhaust air must not be discharged into a flue which is used for exhausting fumes from appliances burning gas or other fuels.

• The minimum distance between the support surfaces of the cooking pots on the cooker top and the lowest part of the rangehood must be at least 65 cm.

• The regulations concerning the discharge of exhaust air have to be fulfilled.

• Failure to install the screws or fixing device in accordance with these instructions may result in electrical hazards.

Before connecting, inspect the data plate inside the appliance to ensure the voltage and power correspond to your network and the socket is suitable. The appliance is a class II device, so no earth cable is necessary. The connection to the mains is as follows:

BROWN = L line

BLUE = N neutral

If not provided, connect a plug for the electrical load indicated on the description label. Where a plug is provided, the rangehood must be installed so that the plug is easily accessible. For a direct connection to the network, an omnipolar switch with a minimum opening of 3mm between contacts must be placed between the appliance and the network, in line with the electrical load and local standards.

The BLANCO BRS902W must be fitted to a cupboard or other suitable support. The installation involves two main steps:

1. Mounting of the rangehood on the lower side of the cupboard: Use 4 screws suitable for the cupboard, using the holes indicated in Fig.1 of the manual. When mounting, align the front of the rangehood with the cupboard door and regulate the L wall spacer using the screws marked P (Fig. 2). The rear of the appliance must then align with the cupboard.

2. Selection of the version: Choose between extraction (ducting to the outside) or filtration (recirculating air inside).

For the extraction version, the BLANCO BRS902W expels fumes through an outside wall or a duct. You will need to purchase a telescopic pipe that complies with standards in use and connect it to the flange B (as shown in Fig.3-4 of the manual). Prepare a hole for the evacuation of air. Do not connect the rangehood exhaust to a conductor used for circulating hot air or fumes from other non-electrical appliances.

To transform the BLANCO BRS902W from an extraction version to a recirculating one, you need an activated carbon filter. This filter cleans the air in the room. The filter is not washable or reusable and must be replaced at least every 4 months. To install it:

1. Remove the grill (G) as shown in fig. 2 of the manual.

2. Fit the activated carbon filter to the motor in the centre of the fan grille.

3. Twist the filter by 90 degrees until it is securely gripped.

The clean air is returned into the room through a connecting tube that passes inside the cupboard and connects to the ring B (Fig.1).

To ensure optimum performance when ducting your BLANCO BRS902W, follow these recommendations:

1. Ducting carrying exhaust air should not exceed a length of three (3) metres.

2. For ducted installation, it is recommended to use galvanised or similar metal type flue pipe. PVC pipe is not recommended.

3. A 90° degree bend in the ducting will cause an efficiency loss of approximately 35%. Additional 90° bends can cause losses of up to 15% per bend.

4. Ducting size should always comply with the manufacturer’s specification.

5. It is recommended that carbon filters be used when recirculating air into the room, though there will be some loss of air movement when they are fitted.

• It is recommended to operate the appliance prior to cooking and to leave it in operation for 15 minutes after cooking to completely eliminate cooking vapours and odours.

• The proper function of the rangehood depends on regular maintenance, particularly of the aluminium grease filters and the active carbon filter.

• Clean the fan and other surfaces of the rangehood regularly using a cloth moistened with a non-abrasive liquid detergent.

• The rangehood lighting is designed for use during cooking, not for prolonged general illumination. Prolonged use of the lighting reduces the life of the bulb.

To prevent fire hazards, it is recommended to clean the aluminium filters at a maximum of every 2 months. Follow these instructions:

1. Remove the aluminium filters from the rangehood.

2. Wash them in a solution of water and neutral liquid detergent, leaving them to soak.

3. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and leave to dry.

The filters may also be washed in the dishwasher. Note that the aluminum panels may alter in colour after several washes, which is not a cause for customer complaint or replacement.

The active carbon filters, used in recirculation mode, purify the air. These filters are not washable nor reusable and must be replaced at a maximum of every four months. The saturation of the active carbon filter depends on the frequency of use of the appliance, the type of cooking, and the regularity of cleaning the aluminium filters.

Only use lamps of the same type and wattage installed on the device (Incandescent Tubular Lamp Ø25mm – L85 – E14 – 40W or Candle Halogen Lamp Ø35mm – E14 – 28W). To replace a lamp, use a small blade to remove the metal surround holding the glass in place. The lamp can then be pulled outward from its socket.

For models with a 12 volt 20 W Halogen light, follow these steps:

1. Remove the glass retaining ring and glass.

2. Replace the globe with another of the same type.

3. Replace the glass and retaining ring.

The push-button controls function as follows:

• Push-button A: On/off switch for the lights.

• Push-button B: On/off switch for the cooker hood motor. The appliance switches on at speed level 1. If the hood is on, press for 2 seconds to switch it off. This button also decreases the motor speed.

• Display C: Indicates the selected motor speed level and activates the timer.

• Push-button D: Switches on the cooker hood and increases the motor speed. Touching this key at speed 3 activates the intensive function, which runs for 10 minutes before returning to the original speed. The display blinks during this function.

• Key E: Activates the Timer function for 15 minutes. Also used to activate the “clean air” function.

The “clean air” function is activated by pressing key E for 2 seconds when the appliance is switched off. This switches the motor on for 10 minutes every hour at the first speed. During functioning, a rotary movement of the peripheral segments is visualized on the display. After 10 minutes, the motor switches off and the fixed letter “C” is displayed for 50 minutes, until the motor restarts. To return to normal functioning, press any key apart from the light keys. To deactivate the function, press key E again.

The display C on your BLANCO BRS902W indicates when filters need attention:

• When display item C flashes, alternating with the letter F (e.g., 1 and F): The anti-grease filters must be washed.

• When display item C flashes, alternating with the letter A (e.g., 1 and A): The active carbon filters must be replaced (or washed, depending on the filter type).

After you have cleaned or replaced the appropriate filter, the electronic memory must be reset. To do this, press button A for approximately 5 seconds, until the flashing F or A indication on the display C stops flashing.

For models with slider controls, the keys are explained as follows:

• A = Light switch

• A1 = Off key

• A2 = On key

• C = Speed control

• C1 = Off key

• C2 = FIRST SPEED key

• C3 = SECOND SPEED key

• C4 = THIRD SPEED key
