How do I assemble the blender?

To assemble your Blender Solution™ 4000:
  1. Position the rubber gasket down onto the circular flat surface in the plastic blender or smoothie blade base.
  2. Place the bottom threaded section of the glass mixing jar down into the plastic blade base. Engage threads by twisting the blade base clockwise until tightened onto the jar. Make sure that the blade base is tightly fastened to the jar and that the rubber gasket is properly compressed between the jar and the plastic blade base.
  3. Push the lid onto the top of the mixing jar. Place the clear lid cap in the center of the lid or place the stir stick through the center of the lid.
  4. Place the mixing jar onto the motor base so that the bottom of the blade base is sitting flat on the motor base.
  5. Plug in the cord. Your blender is now ready to use.

How do I operate the blender controls?

The Blender Solution™ 4000 has the following control buttons:
  • OFF: Shuts off the machine.
  • LOW: Runs the blender at low speed. This speed is recommended for the initial 30 seconds of mixing and for dispensing (when using the smoothie attachment).
  • MEDIUM: Runs the blender at medium speed.
  • HIGH: Runs the blender at high speed. This speed should be used for the final stages of mixing. Do not use this speed for dispensing.
  • PULSE: Runs the blender at high speed in short bursts. Repeatedly push and release the PULSE button to use this function.

How do I perform general blending?

  1. Assemble the blender blade base onto the glass mixing jar.
  2. Add ingredients to the mixing jar and replace the lid. (Note: Add liquid ingredients first, then add frozen or solid ingredients to prevent excessive wear on the motor). You can add more ingredients through the hole in the center of the lid. Cover the hole with the clear lid cap or stir stick during operation.
  3. Choose a speed for blending the ingredients and press the appropriate button (LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH).
  4. To stop blending, push the OFF button.

How should I use the PULSE function?

The PULSE button provides short bursts of power at high speed. To use it, repeatedly push and release the PULSE button. The PULSE function is useful for:
  • The initial stage of blending ice and frozen ingredients for smoothies and other frozen drinks.
  • Breaking apart larger pieces of food.
  • Controlling the texture of food when chunkier results are desired.
Ensure the blades stop rotating between pulses when using this function.

What speed should I use for different ingredients?

Use this guide for speed selection:
INGREDIENTS: SPEED: RESULT:
Salsa Pulse and then Low Chunky
Nuts Pulse and then Low Coarse
Bread, Cookies, Crackers Pulse and then Low Coarse
Heavy Whipping Cream Low Thick
Mayonnaise Medium Creamy
Salad Dressing Medium Creamy
Cheese Pulse and then Medium Coarse
Grating / Chopping Citrus Zest Medium Fine
Smoothies, Cocktails, Shakes Pulse and then High Thick and Smooth
Baby Foods / Fruit & Vegetable purees High Smooth and Creamy

How do I make smoothies using the Smoothie Maker Attachment?

Follow these steps to make smoothies:
  1. Assemble the smoothie maker blade base (with dispensing valve) onto the glass mixing jar. Place the stir stick through the hole in the center of the lid.
  2. Add Liquids: Add your combination of liquid ingredients (e.g., fruit juice, milk, yogurt, soft fruits) up to the LIQUIDS mark on the mixing jar.
  3. Add Ice/Frozen Ingredients: Add ice or frozen ingredients (e.g., frozen fruit, frozen yogurt, ice cream) until the total level reaches the FROZEN INGREDIENTS line on the mixing jar.
  4. Smooth It: With the lid on and stir stick in place, press and release the PULSE button 3 to 5 times to get started. Then, press the LOW button and run for about 30 seconds. Finally, push the HIGH button and continue blending until smooth. Turn the stir stick counter-clockwise while blending for best results.
  5. Serve It: To serve using the dispensing valve, push the LOW button. Hold a cup under the valve and, with the motor running, press down on the dispensing valve lever. Stir the smoothie with the stir stick while dispensing, especially for thick smoothies. If flow stops, adding a few tablespoons of liquid can help. Shut off the machine when the jar is empty.
  6. You can make smoothies consecutively. Ensure you wash the jar, dispensing valve, lid, and stir stick thoroughly after you are finished.

What are some tips for general blender operation?

  • Thicker Smoothies: Add more frozen ingredients.
  • Thinner Smoothies: Add more liquid ingredients.
  • Ingredient Order: Always add liquid ingredients first, then add remaining (solid/frozen) ingredients. This prevents excessive motor wear and ensures proper blending.
  • Hard Foods: Cut harder foods like cheese into approximately 1-inch cubes for better chopping.
  • Stir Stick Use: The stir stick helps with frozen drinks and other ingredients. When not using the stir stick, place the clear lid cap over the hole in the lid.
  • Dry Ingredients: Ensure the glass mixing jar and blade base are completely dry when chopping dry items like bread crumbs, nuts, or spices.
  • Pulse Operation: Operate the PULSE button in short bursts, allowing the blades to stop between pulses.
  • Avoid Heavy Doughs: Do not attempt to mix or knead heavy dough, mash potatoes, or beat egg whites.
  • Blending Time: Do not over-blend. Most ingredients blend or chop in seconds. Do not operate the motor base for longer than 3 minutes at a time. If you run the motor continuously for three minutes, wait at least five minutes before running it again.
  • Motor Stalls: If the motor stalls, turn off and unplug the unit. Remove some ingredients before trying again.
  • Hot Liquids: Do not add boiling liquids to the glass mixing jar. When blending hot (not boiling) liquids, remove the center piece (clear lid cap) of the lid and keep hands and utensils out of the container.

How should I clean the blender?

Before first use and after each use, thoroughly wash the glass mixing jar, blender blade base, smoothie blade base, dispensing valve, lid, and stir stick.
  • Important: To prolong the life of your blender, do not wash plastic parts in the dishwasher.
  • When washing the smoothie attachment, open the dispensing valve to rinse it out thoroughly.
  • Always unplug the appliance before cleaning and disassembling parts.
  • Handle blades carefully as they are sharp.
  • Clean all washable parts in warm, soapy water.
  • For the motor base, wipe with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the motor base in water or other liquid.
See separate instructions for cleaning the dispensing valve assembly.

How do I clean the dispensing valve assembly?

To disassemble the dispensing valve for cleaning:
  1. Remove the entire valve assembly from the smoothie blade base by unscrewing it counter-clockwise.
  2. Remove the cap from the valve body by unscrewing it counter-clockwise.
  3. Squeeze the cap and stopper together, then slide the lever off the stopper pin.
  4. Remove the spring.
  5. Remove the stopper and stopper pin by pulling the rubber rim of the stopper. (Note: The stopper and pin are tightly fitted and usually do not need to be separated).
  6. Clean all parts in warm soapy water.
  7. Reassemble in the reverse order.

What basic safety precautions should I follow when using the blender?

  • Read all instructions before use.
  • This appliance is not a toy. Close adult supervision is necessary when used by or near children. Do not leave unattended with children.

  • To disconnect, grip the plug and pull from the wall outlet. Never pull the cord.
  • Do not run the motor continuously for more than three minutes. Allow at least five minutes rest between cycles.

What should I do if the polarized plug doesn’t fit my outlet?

If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
