To ensure safety while using your ASUS T500MV, please follow these guidelines:

• Disconnect the AC power and peripherals before cleaning. Use a clean cellulose sponge or chamois cloth dampened with a nonabrasive detergent solution and a few drops of warm water, then remove extra moisture with a dry cloth.

• Do not place the computer on uneven or unstable work surfaces. Seek servicing if the casing has been damaged.

• Do not expose it to dirty or dusty environments or operate it during a gas leak.

• Do not place or drop objects on top of the computer and do not shove foreign objects into it.

• Do not expose the computer to strong magnetic or electrical fields.

• Do not use near liquids, rain, or moisture. Do not use the modem during electrical storms.

• Battery safety: Do not throw the battery in fire, short circuit the contacts, or disassemble it.

• Use this product in environments with ambient temperatures between 5°C (41°F) and 35°C (95°F).

• Do not cover the vents on the Desktop PC to prevent overheating.

• Do not use damaged power cords, accessories, or other peripherals.

• To prevent electrical shock, disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet before relocating the system.

• Ensure your power supply is set to the correct voltage for your area. If you are unsure, contact your local power company.

• If the power supply is broken, do not try to fix it yourself. Contact a qualified service technician or your retailer.

• Keep fingers and other body parts away from any moving parts. The desktop should be completely shut down before servicing.

• This product contains a coin/button cell battery. Do not ingest the battery. If swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death. Keep new and used batteries away from children.

The top and front panel of your ASUS T500MV includes the following:

1. Power button: Press this button to turn on your computer.

2. Power LED: This LED indicates if the computer is on.

3. Audio combo port: This port connects to a microphone or a headphone. You can also connect your headset or an external microphone.

4. USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports: These 9-pin Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports connect to USB 3.2 Gen 1 devices.

5. USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C® port: This port connects to USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C® devices. The output voltage is 5V, 3A.

Note: If you are using flip-cover USB devices, it is recommended to connect them to the USB ports on the rear panel for a better experience.

The rear panel of your ASUS T500MV has the following ports:

1. HDMI™ port: For a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI™) connector, which is HDCP compliant for protected content playback.

2. DisplayPort: For a DisplayPort-compatible device.

3. USB 2.0 ports: Connects to USB 2.0 devices such as a mouse, printer, scanner, camera, etc.

4. Microphone port (pink): Connects to a microphone.

5. Line Out port (lime): Connects to a headphone or speaker. In a 4, 5.1, or 7.1-channel configuration, this port functions as the Front Speaker Out.

6. Line In port (light blue): Connects to a tape, CD, DVD player, or other audio sources.

7. Power connector: Plug the power cord into this connector.

8. Air vents: Allow for air ventilation. Do not block these vents.

9. Expansion slot brackets: Remove these brackets when installing an expansion card.

10. ASUS Graphics Card (on selected models only): Display output ports on the optional graphics card may vary.

11. LAN (RJ-45) port: Allows a Gigabit connection to a Local Area Network (LAN).

The function of the audio ports on your ASUS T500MV changes depending on the speaker configuration. Please refer to the table below:

The LAN port has two LEDs that indicate its status. Refer to the tables below for details:

For system stability, it is recommended to install DIMMs with the same capacity from the same manufacturer. Follow the configurations in the table below:

To install memory in your ASUS T500MV, follow these steps:

1. Turn off your computer.

2. Unplug all cables from your computer.

3. Open your computer case.

4. Remove the thermal fan.

5. Locate an empty SO-DIMM socket.

6. Align the notch on the bottom edge of the memory module with the key of the SO-DIMM socket.

7. Insert the bottom edge of the module into the socket at an appropriate angle.

8. When the module is inserted, push it down until the retaining clips snap into place.

9. Install the thermal fan.

10. Close your computer case.

To install a graphics card in your ASUS T500MV computer:

1. Turn off your computer.

2. Unplug all cables from your computer.

3. Open your computer case and locate the PCIEX16_1 slot if you are installing the first or primary graphics card.

4. Align the notch on your graphics card with the key of the slot, and then insert the card into the slot.

5. The ejector will snap back into place automatically.

6. Use a screwdriver and a screw to lock the graphics card on the chassis.

7. (Optional) Connect a proper power supply plug to the graphics card.

To set up your ASUS T500MV computer, connect the main hardware devices:

1. Connect an External Monitor:

• If you have an ASUS Graphics Card (on selected models), connect your monitor to a display output port on the discrete graphics card.

• Otherwise, connect your monitor to an onboard display output port (HDMI™ or DisplayPort) on the rear panel of your computer.

• After connecting the monitor, plug it into a power source.

2. Connect Keyboard and Mouse:

• Connect a USB keyboard and a USB mouse to the USB ports on the rear panel of your computer.

3. Connect the Power Cord:

• Connect one end of the power cord to the power connector on the rear panel of your computer and the other end to a grounded electrical outlet.

To turn on your ASUS T500MV:

1. Turn your monitor ON.

2. Press the power button on your computer.

3. Wait until the operating system loads automatically.

To enable fast startup in the shutdown settings:

1. Enter “Control Panel” in the search bar and open it (View by: Category).

2. Select Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Choose what the power button does.

3. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.

4. Check the box for Turn on fast startup (recommended).

5. Click Save changes.

If fast startup is disabled, when you shut down the computer, it shuts down to the S5 power state.

When you connect an external audio device like headphones or speakers, you need to enable the audio device output.

1. Connect an external audio device (e.g., earphone or speaker) to the rear Line Out port. The Audio Manager screen will automatically pop up.

2. In the “Which device did you plug in?” window, tick Front Speaker Out, then click OK.

3. If you connected to the Line In port, tick Line In, then click OK. The audio output will now be from the external audio device.

To set up multiple displays:

1. Turn off your computer.

2. Connect the two monitors to your computer and connect the power cords to the monitors.

3. Turn on your computer.

4. From the Start menu, click Settings > System > Display.

5. Configure the settings for your displays as desired (e.g., duplicate or extend).

Note: For some graphics cards, only the monitor set as the primary display will show a display during POST. The dual display function works only under Windows.

To maintain proper posture and avoid physical discomfort:

• Position your computer chair so your elbows are at or slightly above the keyboard.

• Adjust your chair height so your knees are slightly higher than your hips. Use a footrest if necessary.

• Adjust the back of your chair to firmly support the base of your spine at a slightly backward angle.

• Sit upright with your knees, elbows, and hips at an approximately 90° angle.

• Place the monitor directly in front of you, with the top of the screen even with your eye level so your eyes look slightly downward.

• Keep the mouse close to the keyboard and use a wrist rest if needed.

• Use your Desktop PC in a comfortably-lit area, away from sources of glare.

• Take regular mini-breaks.

You can enable or disable the USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C®, USB 3.2 Gen 1, and USB 2.0 ports from the BIOS Setup.

1. Restart your computer and press <Delete> during startup to enter the BIOS Setup.

2. From the BIOS Setup EZ Mode screen, press <F7> to enter the Advanced Mode.

3. In the Advanced Mode screen, navigate to Advanced > USB Configuration > USB Single Port Control.

4. Select the USB port you want to configure and press <Enter> to either enable or disable it.

5. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset to save the changes and restart.

To set a password for your HDD:

1. Press <Delete> during startup to enter the BIOS Setup.

2. From the EZ Mode screen, press <F7> to enter Advanced Mode.

3. Click Main and select the HDD to open the HDD Password screen.

4. Select Set Master Password and press <Enter>.

5. In the Create New Password box, enter a password, then press <Enter>. Confirm the password when prompted.

6. Select Set User Password and press <Enter>.

7. Follow steps 4 and 5 to set the user password.

8. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset.

To change the password for your HDD:

1. Follow steps 1 and 2 from the previous section to open the HDD Password screen.

2. Select Set Master Password and press <Enter>.

3. In the Enter Current Password box, enter the current password, then press <Enter>.

4. In the Create New Password box, enter a new password, then press <Enter>.

5. Confirm the new password when prompted.

6. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset.

To clear the user password, follow the same steps as changing a password, but press <Enter> when prompted to create/confirm the password. After clearing, the Set User Password item will show “Not Installed”.

To enable the wake-up feature for a keyboard or mouse from the BIOS (on selected models only):

1. Restart your computer. When the ASUS logo appears, press <Delete> to enter the BIOS Setup.

2. From the EZ Mode screen, press <F7> to enter Advanced Mode, then click Advanced.

3. Go to Advanced Power Management > ErP Support / ErP Ready, then select Disable or Enable (S5).

4. Go to Advanced Power Management > Power On By USB Keyboard/Mouse, then select Enable.

5. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset.

If your computer hangs, try the following:

• Close the unresponsive program:

1. Simultaneously press <Alt> + <Ctrl> + <Delete> keys on the keyboard, then click Task Manager.

2. Select the program that is not responding, then click End Task.

• If the keyboard is not responding: Press and hold the Power button on your chassis until the computer shuts down. Then press the Power button again to turn it on.

If the system is consistently slow or freezing, consider the following causes:

• Too many programs running: Close some programs.

• Computer virus attack: Use an anti-virus software to scan for and repair viruses. Consider reinstalling the operating system.

• Hard disk drive failure: The hard disk drive may need servicing or replacement.

• Memory module problems: Try replacing or removing extra memory modules.

• Inadequate air ventilation: Move your computer to an area with better air flow.

• Incompatible software: Reinstall the OS and reinstall compatible softwares.

If your computer cannot be powered on and the power LED on the front panel does not light up:

• Check if your computer’s power cord is properly connected.

• Check if the wall outlet is functioning.

• Check if the Power Supply Unit is switched on.

• Ensure the power voltage switch is set correctly for your area’s power requirements.

• If the issue persists, there may be a problem with the Power Supply Unit (PSU).

If there is no display on the monitor:

• Check if the monitor is powered on.

• Ensure that your monitor is properly connected to the correct video output port on your computer. If your computer has a discrete graphics card, connect the monitor to a port on that card.

• Check if any pins on the monitor video connector are bent. If so, replace the cable.

• Ensure your monitor is properly plugged into a power source.

• Try connecting to another monitor to rule out a monitor issue.

• Refer to the documentation that came with your monitor for more troubleshooting information.

If you cannot connect to a wireless network using the ASUS WLAN Card (on selected models only):

• Ensure that you enter the correct network security key for the wireless network you want to connect to.

• Connect the external antennas (optional) to the antenna connectors on the ASUS WLAN Card and place the antennas on the top of your computer chassis for the best wireless performance.

If only one monitor has a display:

• Ensure that both monitors are powered on.

• During POST (Power-On Self-Test), only the monitor connected to the primary display port (often the onboard VGA) has a display. The dual display function works only once Windows has loaded.

• When a discrete graphics card is installed, ensure that you connect both monitors to the output ports on the graphics card.

• Check if the multiple displays settings in Windows are configured correctly.

• The first time you connect a USB storage device, Windows® automatically installs a driver for it. Wait a moment and then check My Computer to see if the device is detected.

• Connect your USB storage device to another computer to test if the device itself is broken or malfunctioning.

You can use the Windows® 11 “Refresh your PC without affecting your files” recovery option. This will restore or undo changes to your computer’s system settings without affecting personal data like documents or photos. To use this option:

1. From the Start menu, click Settings > Update & recovery > Recovery.

2. Select Refresh your PC without affecting your files, and click Get started.

If your speakers produce no sound:

• Ensure you connect your speakers to the Line out port (lime) on the front or rear panel. Refer to the user guide for the correct port.

• Check if your speaker is connected to an electrical source and turned on.

• Adjust your speakers’ volume.

• Ensure that your computer’s system sounds are not muted. If the volume icon is displayed as muted in the Windows® notification area, click it to enable the sound.

• Connect your speakers to another computer to test if the speakers are working properly.

• Try both the front and back audio ports. If one port fails, check if the port is set to multi-channel in your audio settings.

• If the issue persists, try reinstalling the audio driver.

If the DVD drive cannot read a disc:

• Check if the disc is placed with the label side facing up.

• Check if the disc is centered in the tray, especially for discs with non-standard sizes or shapes.

• Check if the disc is scratched or damaged.

If the DVD drive eject button is not responding:

1. From the Start menu, click File Explorer.

2. Right-click the DVD RW Drive and then click Eject from the menu.

If you cannot access the Internet:

• Check cable connection: Ensure the LAN cable is securely connected to your computer’s LAN port. Ensure the LAN LED is on. If not, try another LAN cable.

• Check router/hub connection: Ensure your computer is properly connected to the router or hub.

• Check network settings: Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to confirm you have the correct LAN settings.

• Anti-virus software: Temporarily close the anti-virus software to see if it is causing a conflict.

• Driver problems: Reinstall the LAN driver.

If the computer is noisy right after turning on:

• This is normal. The fan runs at full speed when the computer is powering on and slows down after entering the OS.

If the computer is too noisy when in use:

• The BIOS settings have been changed: Restore the BIOS to its default settings.

• Old BIOS version: Update the BIOS to the latest version.

• The CPU fan has been replaced: Ensure you are using a compatible or ASUS-recommended CPU fan.

• There is not enough air ventilation for the computer: Ensure your computer is working in an area with good air flow.

• The system temperature is too high: This can cause fans to run faster. Update the BIOS. If you are comfortable doing so, you can try cleaning the inner space of the chassis.

Connecting to a Wi-Fi (Wireless) Network:

1. Click the Wi-Fi icon from the taskbar to enable Wi-Fi.

2. Select an access point from the list of available Wi-Fi connections.

3. Select Connect to start the network connection. You may be prompted to enter a security key.

Pairing with Bluetooth Devices:

1. Launch Settings from the Start menu.

2. Select Bluetooth & devices > Add device to search for Bluetooth-enabled devices (for Windows® 11).

3. Select a device from the list to pair it with your computer.

Connecting to a Wired Network:

You can connect to wired networks, such as local area networks and broadband Internet, using your computer’s LAN port. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or network administrator for assistance in setting up your Internet connection.

Turning your computer off (Shutdown):

• From the Start menu, select the power icon then select Shut down.

• From the log-in screen, select the power icon then select Shut down.

• Press <Alt> + <F4> to launch the Shut Down Windows dialog, select Shut down from the list, and then select OK.

• If your computer is unresponsive, press and hold the power button for at least four seconds until it turns off.

Putting your computer to sleep:

• From the Start menu, select the power icon then select Sleep.

• From the log-in screen, select the power icon then select Sleep.

• Press the power button once.
