The top and front panel of the ASUS T500MVC includes the following features:

1. Power button: Press this button to turn on your computer.

To install a graphics card in your ASUS T500MVC, perform the following steps:

1. Turn off your computer.

2. Unplug all cables from your computer.

3. Open your computer case and locate the PCIEX16_1 slot if you are installing the first or primary graphics card.

4. Align the notch on your graphics card with the key of the slot, and then insert the card into the slot.

5. The ejector will snap back into place automatically.

6. Use a screwdriver and a screw to lock the graphics card on the chassis.

7. (Optional) Connect a proper power supply plug to the graphics card if required.

To set up your ASUS T500MVC, connect the main hardware devices:

1. Connect an external monitor: If your computer has a discrete ASUS Graphics Card, connect your monitor to its display output port. If not, use the onboard display output port on the rear panel. After connecting the monitor, plug it into a power source.

If fast startup is disabled, when you shut down the computer, it shuts down to the S5 power state.

To maintain proper posture and avoid physical discomfort, follow these tips:

• Position your chair so your elbows are at or slightly above the keyboard.

• Adjust your chair height so your knees are slightly higher than your hips. Use a footrest if needed.

• Adjust the chair back to firmly support the base of your spine at a slight backward angle.

• Sit upright with your knees, elbows, and hips at an approximate 90° angle.

• Place the monitor directly in front of you, with the top of the screen even with your eye level so your eyes look slightly downward.

• Keep the mouse close to the keyboard and use a wrist rest if necessary.

• Use your Desktop PC in a well-lit area, away from sources of glare.

• Take regular mini-breaks.

You can enable or disable the USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, USB 3.2 Gen 1, and USB 2.0 ports from the BIOS Setup:

1. Restart your computer and press <Delete> at startup to enter the BIOS Setup.

2. From the EZ Mode screen, press <F7> to enter Advanced Mode.

3. In Advanced Mode, navigate to Advanced > USB Configuration > USB Single Port Control.

4. Select the USB port you want to configure.

5. Press <Enter> to enable or disable the selected port.

6. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset to save the changes.

To set a new password for your HDD from the BIOS Setup:

1. Press <Delete> at startup to enter BIOS Setup.

2. From the EZ Mode screen, press <F7> to enter Advanced Mode.

3. Go to the Main tab and click on the selected HDD to open the HDD Password screen.

4. Select “Set Master Password” and press <Enter>.

5. In the “Create New Password” box, enter a password and press <Enter>. Confirm the password when prompted.

6. Select “Set User Password” and press <Enter>.

7. Follow steps 4 and 5 to set the user password.

8. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset to save.

To change an existing password:

1. Follow steps 1-3 above to open the HDD Password screen.

2. Select “Set Master Password” and press <Enter>.

3. In the “Enter Current Password” box, key in the current password and press <Enter>.

4. In the “Create New Password” box, key in a new password and press <Enter>. Confirm when prompted.

5. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset.

To allow a keyboard or mouse to wake up your computer (on selected models):

1. Restart your computer and press <Delete> when the ASUS logo appears to enter the BIOS Setup.

2. From the EZ Mode screen, press <F7> to enter Advanced Mode, then click Advanced.

3. Go to Advanced Power Management > ErP Support / ErP Ready, then select Disable or Enable (S5).

4. Go to Advanced Power Management > Power On By USB Keyboard/Mouse, then select Enable.

5. Click Exit and select Save Changes & Reset to save the changes made.

You can connect your ASUS T500MVC to a DSL/cable modem or a local area network (LAN) using an RJ-45 cable.

Connecting via a DSL/cable modem:

1. Set up your DSL/cable modem according to its documentation.

2. Connect one end of an RJ-45 cable to the LAN (RJ-45) port on the rear of your computer and the other end to the modem.

3. Turn on the DSL/cable modem and your computer.

4. Configure the necessary Internet connection settings.

Connecting via a local area network (LAN):

1. Connect one end of an RJ-45 cable to the LAN (RJ-45) port on the rear of your computer and the other end to your LAN (e.g., a wall jack or router).

2. Turn on your computer.

3. Configure the necessary Internet connection settings.

If your computer cannot be powered on and the front power LED does not light up, try the following:

• Check if your computer is properly connected to the power outlet.

• Check if the wall outlet is functioning by plugging in another device.

• Check if the Power Supply Unit is switched on. Refer to the “Turning your computer ON” section for details.

• Ensure the power cord is properly and securely connected.

If your computer hangs, first try to close the programs that are not responding:

1. Simultaneously press <Alt> + <Ctrl> + <Delete> keys on the keyboard.

2. Click Task Manager.

3. Select the program that is not responding, then click End Task.

If the keyboard is also unresponsive, press and hold the Power button on your chassis until the computer shuts down completely. Then press the Power button again to turn it back on.

If there is no display on your monitor, check the following:

• Check if the monitor is powered on.

• Ensure that your monitor is properly connected to the correct video output port on your computer. If your ASUS T500MVC has a discrete graphics card, you must connect the monitor to a video output port on that card.

• Check if any of the pins on the monitor’s video connector are bent. If so, replace the cable.

• Ensure your monitor is properly plugged into a power source.

• Try connecting your computer to another monitor to see if the issue is with the original monitor.

If only one of your multiple monitors is displaying an image, check these points:

• Ensure that both monitors are powered on.

• During the POST (Power-On Self-Test) sequence, only the monitor connected to the primary display port may have a display. The dual display function works only under Windows.

• When a discrete graphics card is installed on your computer, ensure that you connect the monitors to the output ports on the graphics card.

• Check if the multiple display settings in your operating system are configured correctly.

If your computer does not detect a USB storage device, try these steps:

• The first time you connect a USB storage device to your computer, Windows automatically installs a driver for it. Wait a moment and then check “My Computer” or “This PC” to see if the device is detected.

• Connect the USB storage device to a different computer to test if the device itself is broken or malfunctioning.

You can use the Windows 11 “Refresh your PC without affecting your files” recovery option. This will restore or undo changes to your computer’s system settings without affecting personal data like documents or photos. To use this option:

1. From the Start menu, click Settings > Update & recovery > Recovery.

2. Select “Refresh your PC without affecting your files” and click “Get started.”

If your speakers produce no sound, follow these troubleshooting steps:

• Ensure your speakers are connected to the Line out port (lime green) on the front or rear panel.

• Check if your speakers are connected to an electrical source and are turned on.

• Adjust the volume control on your speakers.

• Ensure that your computer’s system sounds are not muted. Check the volume icon in the Windows notification area.

• Connect your speakers to another computer to test if the speakers are working properly.

• Try both the front and back audio ports. If one port fails, check if the port is set to multi-channel in your audio settings.

• If the problem persists, try reinstalling the audio driver.

If the DVD drive cannot read a disc, please check the following:

• Ensure the disc is placed with the label side facing up.

• Make sure the disc is centered in the tray, especially for discs with a non-standard size or shape.

• Check if the disc is scratched or damaged.

If the physical eject button is not responding, you can eject the disc through the operating system:

1. From the Start menu, click File Explorer.

2. Right-click the DVD RW Drive icon, then click “Eject” from the menu.

If your system speed is too slow, it could be due to several reasons:

• Too many programs are running: Try closing some of the programs you are not using.

• Computer virus attack: Use an anti-virus software to scan for and remove viruses. If the problem persists, you may need to reinstall the operating system.

• Hard disk drive failure: If the hard drive is failing, it may need servicing or replacement.

Noise from your computer can be attributed to several factors:

• Normal boot-up process: It is normal for the fan to run at full speed when the computer is first powered on. The fan will slow down after the operating system (OS) loads.

• Changed BIOS settings: Restore the BIOS to its default settings.

• Outdated BIOS version: Update the BIOS to the latest version.

• Incorrect CPU fan: Ensure you are using a compatible or ASUS-recommended CPU fan.

You can turn off your computer using one of the following procedures:

• Launch the Start menu, select the power icon, then select “Shut down” for a normal shutdown.

• From the log-in screen, select the power icon, then select “Shut down.”

• Press <Alt> + <F4> to launch the Shut Down Windows dialog box. Select “Shut down” from the drop-down list and click OK.

• If your computer is unresponsive, press and hold the power button for at least four (4) seconds until your computer turns off.

You can put your computer into Sleep mode in several ways:

• Launch the Start menu, select the power icon, then select “Sleep.”

• From the log-in screen, select the power icon, then select “Sleep.”

• Press <Alt> + <F4> to launch the Shut Down Windows dialog box. Select “Sleep” from the drop-down list and click OK.

• You can also put your computer to Sleep mode by pressing the power button once (this may need to be configured in Power Options).
