Operation Safety:

• Before installing the motherboard and adding components, carefully read all the manuals that came with the package.

• Before use, ensure all cables are correctly connected and power cables are not damaged. If you detect any damage, contact your dealer immediately.

• To avoid short circuits, keep paper clips, screws, and staples away from connectors, slots, sockets, and circuitry.

• Avoid dust, humidity, and temperature extremes. Do not place the product in any area where it may become wet.

• Your ASUS PRIME B760M-A motherboard should only be used in environments with ambient temperatures between 0°C and 40°C.

Button/Coin Batteries Safety Information:

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Swallowing can lead to chemical burns, perforation of soft tissue, and death. Severe burns can occur within 2 hours of ingestion. Seek medical attention immediately.

If any of the above items are damaged or missing, contact your retailer.

• Unplug the power cord from the wall socket before touching any component.

• Before handling components, use a grounded wrist strap or touch a safely grounded object or a metal object, such as the power supply case, to avoid damaging them due to static electricity.

• Hold components by the edges to avoid touching the ICs on them.

• Whenever you uninstall any component, place it on a grounded antistatic pad or in the bag that came with the component.

• Before you install or remove any component, ensure that the ATX power supply is switched off or the power cord is detached from the power supply. Failure to do so may cause severe damage to the motherboard, peripherals, or components.

• Ensure to connect the 8-pin power plug.

• It is recommended that you use a PSU with a higher power output when configuring a system with more power-consuming devices. The system may become unstable or may not boot up if the power is inadequate.

• If you want to use two or more high-end PCI Express x16 cards, use a PSU with 1000W power or above to ensure system stability.

The Clear CMOS header allows you to clear the Real Time Clock (RTC) RAM in the CMOS, which contains the date, time, system passwords, and system setup parameters.

To erase the RTC RAM:

1. Turn OFF the computer and unplug the power cord.

2. Short-circuit pin 1-2 of the CLRTC header with a metal object or jumper cap for about 5-10 seconds.

3. Plug the power cord and turn ON the computer.

4. Hold down the key during the boot process and enter BIOS setup to re-enter data.

Important: DO NOT short-circuit the pins except when clearing the RTC RAM. Short-circuiting or placing a jumper cap at other times will cause system boot failure!

If the steps above do not help, remove the onboard button cell battery and short the two pins again to clear the CMOS RTC RAM data. After clearing the CMOS, reinstall the button cell battery.

The System Panel header supports several chassis-mounted functions:

• System Power LED header (PLED): This 2-pin or 3-1 pin header connects to the System Power LED. The LED lights up when the system is connected to a power source or when you turn on the system power, and it blinks when the system is in sleep mode.

• Storage Device Activity LED header (HDD_LED): This 2-pin header connects to the Storage Device Activity LED. The LED lights up or blinks when data is read from or written to a storage device.

• System Warning Speaker header (SPEAKER): This 4-pin header connects to the chassis-mounted system warning speaker, allowing you to hear system beeps and warnings.

• Power Button/Soft-off Button header (PWRSW): This header connects to the system power button. Press the button to power up the system, or put the system into sleep or soft-off mode (depending on operating system settings).

• Reset button header (RESET): This 2-pin header connects to the chassis-mounted reset button. Press the reset button to reboot the system.

• Chassis intrusion header (CHASSIS): This 2-pin header connects to a chassis intrusion detection sensor or switch. It sends a signal when a chassis component is removed or replaced, generating a chassis intrusion event.

The Ethernet port has two LEDs: an Activity/Link LED and a Speed LED.

The function of the audio ports changes depending on the selected audio channel configuration.

To configure a 7.1-channel audio output, you must use a chassis with an HD audio module in the front panel.

Before starting, unplug all power cables. Ensure you are installing a CPU designed for the LGA1700 socket only. Do not install CPUs designed for LGA1155, LGA1156, LGA1151, or LGA1200 sockets.

Step 1. Press the load lever to the side and then lift it up to open the retention plate. Be careful when releasing the lever, as it may spring back.

Step 2. Lift the retention plate to expose the CPU socket.

Step 3. Orient the CPU correctly. Align the alignment key on the CPU with the alignment post on the socket, and align the golden triangle on the CPU with the triangle marker on the socket.

Step 4. Carefully place the CPU into the socket.

Step 5. Remove the PnP (Plug and Play) cap from the socket.

Step 6. Close the retention plate, then press the load lever down and secure it under the retention tab.

To install a DIMM:

1. Unlock the retention clip on the DIMM slot.

2. Align the notch on the DIMM with the key in the slot.

3. Firmly insert the DIMM into the slot until the retention clip snaps back in place, securing the DIMM.

To remove a DIMM:

Simultaneously press the retention clip outwards to eject the DIMM from the slot.

• The ASUS PRIME B760M-A uses DDR5 memory modules. A DDR5 module is notched differently from DDR, DDR2, DDR3, or DDR4 modules. DO NOT install a non-DDR5 memory module into a DDR5 slot.

• You may install varying memory sizes in Channel A (DIMM_A1 & DIMM_A2) and Channel B (DIMM_B1 & DIMM_B2). The system maps the total size of the lower-sized channel for dual-channel configuration. Any excess memory from the higher-sized channel is then mapped for single-channel operation.

• You may install 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB unbuffered Non-ECC DDR5 DIMMs into the DIMM sockets.

• The default memory operation frequency depends on its Serial Presence Detect (SPD). Under the default state, some memory modules for overclocking may operate at a lower frequency than the vendor-marked value.

• For system stability, use a more efficient memory cooling system to support a full memory load.

• Always install DIMMs with the same CAS latency. For optimal compatibility, it is recommended that you install memory modules of the same version or date code (D/C) from the same vendor.

For recommended memory configurations, populate the slots in the following order:

• One module: Install in slot DIMM_A2

• Two modules: Install in slots DIMM_A2 and DIMM_B2

• Four modules: Install in all slots (DIMM_A1, DIMM_A2, DIMM_B1, DIMM_B2)

1. Remove the screws from the M.2 heatsink.

2. Remove the M.2 heatsink.

3. Install your M.2 device into the M.2 slot. If you are installing a single-sided M.2 device, ensure you install the bundled M.2 rubber pad first. Do not install the bundled rubber pads when installing a double-sided M.2 device.

4. Secure the M.2 device to the motherboard with the M.2 screw.

5. Remove the protective film from the thermal pad on the bottom of the M.2 heatsink.

6. Reinstall the M.2 heatsink.

7. Secure the M.2 heatsink with the screws you removed earlier.

Entering BIOS at Startup:

Press or during the Power-On Self Test (POST). If you do not press either key in time, POST will continue with its routines and boot the operating system.

Entering BIOS After POST:

If you miss the POST window, you can use one of the following methods:

• Press ++ simultaneously.

• Press the reset button on your system chassis.

• Press the power button to turn the system off and then back on.

After using one of these methods, press the key when prompted to enter BIOS.

The ASUS EZ Flash 3 feature allows you to update the BIOS without using an OS-based utility. Before you begin, ensure to load the BIOS default settings for system compatibility and stability by selecting “Load Optimized Defaults” from the Exit menu or pressing the hotkey.

To update the BIOS:

1. Insert a USB flash disk containing the latest BIOS file into a USB port. The USB flash disk should be formatted with FAT32/16 and have a single partition.

2. Enter the Advanced Mode of the BIOS setup program. Navigate to the Tool menu, select ASUS EZ Flash 3 Utility, and press .

3. Press the Left/Right arrow keys to switch to the Drive field.

4. Press the Up/Down arrow keys to find the USB flash disk containing the latest BIOS, and then press .

5. Press the Left/Right arrow keys to switch to the Folder field.

6. Press the Up/Down arrow keys to find the BIOS file, and then press to perform the BIOS update process. The system will reboot when the update process is complete.

Important: DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS to prevent system boot failure.

ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3 is an auto-recovery tool that allows you to restore a BIOS file if it fails or becomes corrupted during an update.

To recover the BIOS:

1. Download the latest BIOS version for the ASUS PRIME B760M-A motherboard.

2. Rename the downloaded BIOS file to ASUS.CAP or PB760MA.CAP and copy it to a USB flash drive.

3. Turn on the system.

4. Insert the USB flash drive containing the renamed BIOS file into a USB port.

5. The utility will automatically check for the BIOS file. When found, it will read the file and enter ASUS EZ Flash 3 automatically to begin the recovery process.

6. After recovery, the system will require you to enter BIOS Setup. To ensure system compatibility and stability, it is recommended that you press to load the default BIOS values.

Warning: DO NOT shut down or reset the system while the BIOS is being updated, as this can cause a system boot failure.

The ASUS PRIME B760M-A motherboard, with its Intel® Rapid Storage Technology, supports SATA RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10 configurations.

• RAID 0 (Data Striping): Optimizes two identical hard disk drives to read and write data in parallel, interleaved stacks. This improves data access and storage speed, essentially doubling the transfer rate of a single disk. Two new identical hard disk drives are required.

• RAID 1 (Data Mirroring): Copies and maintains an identical image of data from one drive to a second drive. If one drive fails, the system directs all applications to the surviving drive. This provides data protection and increases fault tolerance. Requires two new drives, or one existing drive and one new drive of the same or larger size.

• RAID 5: Stripes both data and parity information across three or more hard disk drives. This provides better HDD performance, fault tolerance, and higher storage capacity. It is best suited for transaction processing and database applications. A minimum of three identical hard disk drives is required.

• RAID 10: Combines data striping (RAID 0) and data mirroring (RAID 1) without parity. This configuration offers the benefits of both RAID 0 and RAID 1. Requires four new hard disk drives, or one existing drive and three new drives.
