When using the STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO, please adhere to the following safety recommendations:

• Keep packing material out of the reach of children.

• Check the packaging and housing for damage upon receipt. If damaged, send it back immediately.

• People who require assistance must be supervised constantly during application.

• Keep the Hot Air Generator and accessories out of the reach of babies and infants as small parts can be a choking hazard.

• Ensure the information on the type label matches the mains supply at your location.

• If problems occur during operation, immediately unplug the device.

• The power cord must be fully unwound and kept away from children, liquids, and heat sources. Do not crush or kink the cord. If damaged, contact the Service Center for replacement.

• The use of multiple sockets or extension cables is not recommended.

• Install the Hot Air Generator on a stable, dry surface away from heat sources. Ambient temperature should not drop below +5°C (+41°F).

• Do not operate the device near flammable objects like curtains or paper.

• Keep the device away from pets that could damage the power cord.

• Repairs should only be performed by the Service Center.

• Do not open the Hot Air Generator as live components are exposed.

• To unplug, pull the power plug directly, not the cord.

• Do not operate with a faulty power cord.

• Do not use the device in damp or wet conditions, or expose it to rain.

• Do not use in an atmosphere with risk of explosion or ignition.

• Never allow the Vaporizer to be used by children or unqualified persons.

• Only use original Storz & Bickel accessories and spare parts.

The STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO Vaporization System is intended to release fragrances or aromas from specific herbs, plant materials, or their extracts (aromatic oils). These substances are released through vaporization by heated air. They can be exhausted directly into the ambient air or collected in a Valve Balloon for subsequent inhalation.

The device should only be used with the recommended vaporizing media. Using other substances can present a health risk. The VOLCANO Vaporization System is not FDA approved.

The following plants and their parts are suitable for vaporization in the STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO at the specified temperature settings:

WARNING: Please consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical concerns. Some plants may cause allergic reactions. Only use plant parts that have been verified according to pharmacopoeia regulations regarding genuineness, purity, and pathogenic germs.

The amount of aromas and fragrances released into the Valve Balloon of your STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO is influenced by these four factors:

1. **Quality:** The amount of aromas or fragrances contained in the plant material.

2. **Quantity:** The amount of vaporization material in the Filling Chamber.

3. **Surface:** The finer the plant is ground, the greater the surface area, which allows more aromas and fragrances to be released.

4. **Temperature:** Higher temperatures release more aromas and fragrances at once. However, increasing the temperature should be a last resort, as it can result in a more toasted taste.

It is important to watch the vapor density in the Valve Balloon. A fine, white vapor is ideal. If the vapor becomes too dense and the taste too strong, the temperature should be lowered.

When using the STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO, follow this recommended breathing technique: Inhale only half the amount of air you can normally manage. Hold your breath for a few seconds and then exhale slowly. It is advisable to deliberately concentrate on your breathing process.

Note: The device is not to be used if the user has respiratory tract or lung conditions. Depending on the density, the vapor could irritate respiratory tracts or lungs, which can lead to coughing.

To care for and maintain your STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO Hot Air Generator, follow these steps:

1. **Unplug the Device:** Before any maintenance, switch off the device and unplug the power cord from the supply.

2. **Inspect the Air Filter:** Every four weeks, inspect the Air Filter located at the bottom of the Hot Air Generator. Turn the Air Filter Cap counterclockwise to remove it and check the filter for contamination.

3. **Clean the Housing:** Only clean the device with a damp cloth when it is dirty. If needed, use a mild cleaning agent like soap water. Do not use hard or abrasive implements (steel wool, metal brushes) or aggressive cleaning agents.

4. **Storage:** Store the Hot Air Generator in a dry place, protected from weather effects, and out of the reach of children or unqualified persons.

If you experience any faults with your STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO, first immediately unplug the power cord. If there are faults in the electronics of a VOLCANO DIGIT, you can perform a reset by pulling out the power plug, waiting for a minimum of three seconds, and then plugging it in again.

If the issue persists, pack the Hot Air Generator in its original packaging (or other proper packing material) and take it to the Service Center. Do not attempt to open the Hot Air Generator or remedy the defect yourself, as this will cause damage and invalidate the warranty.

If your STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO is not functioning properly, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:

To set up and heat up your STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO DIGIT:

1. **Commissioning:** Place the VOLCANO DIGIT on a flat, stable surface. Ensure the mains voltage corresponds to the rating on the device. Connect the power cord to a properly installed (grounded) socket. The LED display will briefly light up, and a green dot will show it is connected to the mains supply.

2. **Heating Up:** Press the “HEAT” button to switch on the heater. The set/actual temperature will light up on the display, and the yellow control lamp will illuminate to indicate it is heating.

3. **Temperature Display:** The upper, red display shows the actual temperature, and the lower, green display shows the desired set temperature. The heating process is complete when the actual value equals the set value, which can take up to 5 minutes. The luminous intensity of the yellow control lamp corresponds to the intensity of the heating process.

To adjust the temperature on your STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO DIGIT:

• Use the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons to increase or decrease the set temperature.

• A brief tap on the buttons will adjust the temperature in 1-degree increments.

• Pressing and holding the buttons will cause the set values to run continuously in the corresponding direction.

• To switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit, simultaneously tap the plus and minus buttons.

• **Cool Off:** If the actual temperature is higher than the set value, you can speed up the cooling process by switching on the air pump.

• **Automatic Switch-Off:** The device will automatically switch off 30 minutes after the last button press.

To set up and heat up your STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO CLASSIC:

1. **Commissioning:** Place the VOLCANO CLASSIC on a flat, stable surface. Make sure the mains voltage matches the voltage rating on the device. Connect the power cord to a properly installed (grounded) socket.

2. **Heating Up:** Push the rocker switch labeled “HEAT” to turn on the heater. The switch will light up. The yellow control lamp will also light up, signaling that the device is heating. This can take up to 5 minutes.

3. **Ready Indicator:** When the yellow control lamp turns off, the set temperature has been reached, and the warming process is complete. The lamp will light up again if the temperature drops and the heat exchanger needs to heat up automatically.

To set the temperature on the STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO CLASSIC, select the desired temperature using the temperature regulator knob. The vaporization temperature may fluctuate about ± 5°C (± 9°F) from the indicated values. The temperature settings correspond to the following values:

To use the EASY VALVE with your STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO, follow these steps:

1. **Prepare the Filling Chamber:** Turn the Filling Chamber Cap counter-clockwise to remove it. Fill the chamber with the desired amount of ground plant material (min. 1 mm, max. 10 mm). Screw the Cap back on.

2. **Preheat:** Place the Filling Chamber on the hot air outlet of the Hot Air Generator until it locks in place. Switch on the air pump (“AIR” button/switch) and preheat the material for a few seconds (approx. 5 sec).

3. **Attach the Balloon:** Remove the Mouthpiece from the Valve Balloon. Stretch the balloon tight and place it vertically onto the Filling Chamber, allowing it to lock in place. The valve will open and the balloon will fill with vapor.

4. **Fill the Balloon:** Watch the vapor density. When the balloon is filled to your desired amount, switch off the air pump. Remove the Valve Balloon with the Filling Chamber from the generator. Hold the Filling Chamber Cap at the textured grip to avoid burns.

5. **Detach and Seal:** Detach the Valve Balloon from the Filling Chamber. The valve will close automatically, sealing the vapor inside.

6. **Inhale:** Attach the Mouthpiece to the Valve Balloon. To inhale, press the Mouthpiece lightly against your lips. This opens the valve. When you remove pressure, the valve closes automatically.

EASY VALVE Balloon with Mouthpiece:

This part requires no maintenance. For hygienic reasons, it should be replaced every two weeks. To prevent the transfer of infectious germs, the Valve Balloon and Mouthpiece should be used by only one person.

Filling Chamber with Cap:

1. **Disassemble:** Allow the Filling Chamber to cool down. To disassemble the Cap, push the Cap Cylinder downwards out of the Cap Housing, which will also strip off the Cap Ring. Push the upper Screen out using the handle of the Cleaning Brush. To disassemble the Chamber, push the lower Screen/Drip Pad upwards out of the Cylinder, then push the Cylinder upwards out of the Housing. The three Filling Chamber Clips will fall out.

2. **Clean:** Clean the component parts regularly for proper operation and pure flavor. Use rubbing alcohol (min. 90%), paper towels, or warm water with dish liquid. Components may also be cleaned in a dishwasher, but small parts like Screens and Clips may be lost. Do not immerse plastic components in ethanol or alcohol for longer than an hour.

3. **Inspect:** After cleaning, check all parts for damage, tears, hardening, or discoloration.

4. **Reassemble:** Assemble in reverse order. Ensure the upper Screen is placed carefully into the intended notch in the Cap Cylinder to prevent plant particles from being inhaled.

The Filling Chamber Reducer for the STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO EASY VALVE is suitable for vaporizing small amounts of plant material or aromatic oils. Here is how to use it:

1. **Insert the Reducer:** The Filling Chamber Reducer is inserted into the Filling Chamber Housing instead of the standard Filling Chamber Cylinder.

2. **For Ground Plant Material:** You can fill the Reducer directly with ground plant material or insert a filled Dosing Capsule.

3. **For Aromatic Oils:** Insert either a small Drip Pad (15 x 5 mm) directly into the Reducer or a Dosing Capsule containing a Drip Pad (13 x 6 mm). Do not overfill the Drip Pad; it can contain up to 5 drops.

Using Dosing Capsules and the Magazine with your STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO EASY VALVE facilitates handling by allowing you to pre-fill them.

For Ground Plant Material:

1. Grind the plant material with the included Herb Mill.

2. Use the Magazine Cap as a funnel to fill a Dosing Capsule.

3. Attach the cap onto the Dosing Capsule.

4. Repeat until the desired number of capsules are filled (the Magazine holds up to 8).

5. Insert them into the Magazine and close it by turning the Magazine Cap clockwise.

For Aromatic Oils:

1. Use Dosing Capsules that have an inserted Drip Pad.

2. Fill them with aromatic oils and store them in the Magazine.

To use a filled capsule, insert it into the Filling Chamber Reducer with the cap facing upwards.

The Disposable Lip Piece for the STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO EASY VALVE is designed for hygienic, single-person use.

1. **Attach:** Put the Lip Piece on the Mouthpiece and slide it until it stops.

2. **Use:** The Lip Piece is equipped with a check valve to reduce potential contamination inside the Valve Balloon by preventing breathing into it.

3. **Duration:** A Lip Piece may be used for a maximum of 4 hours after initial operation if it remains undamaged and clean.

4. **Disposal:** Afterwards, it must be disposed of in the household waste. Use a new Lip Piece for subsequent sessions. Do not use damaged or brittle Lip Pieces.

To use the SOLID VALVE with your STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO, follow these steps:

1. **Fill the Chamber:** Remove the entire Filling Chamber Insert and fill the chamber with the desired amount of ground plant material (min. 1 mm, max. 10 mm). Re-fit the Insert and use the pin to lower the Screen Unit, loosely fixing the content between the Screens.

2. **Preheat:** Place the Filling Chamber on the hot air outlet of the Hot Air Generator. Switch on the air pump (“AIR” button/switch). Preheat the material for a few seconds (approx. 5 sec).

3. **Attach the Balloon:** Before attaching, stretch the Valve Balloon so it extends vertically when filled. Set the Valve onto the Filling Chamber from above until both grippers lock in place. The valve will open automatically, and the balloon will fill with vapor.

4. **Fill and Detach:** When the balloon is filled, switch off the air pump and remove the Valve Balloon with the Filling Chamber. Grasp the valve firmly at the designated grip indentation.

5. **Detach Balloon from Chamber:** Place the Filling Chamber on a heat-proof surface. Press the grippers together to detach the Valve Balloon from the Filling Chamber. The Valve closes automatically.

6. **Attach Mouthpiece and Inhale:** Attach the Mouthpiece to the Valve Balloon, ensuring both grippers are locked in place. To inhale, press the Mouthpiece lightly against your lips. The valve opens. When you remove pressure from the Mouthpiece, the valve automatically closes.

For hygienic reasons, the STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO SOLID VALVE component parts (Mouthpiece, Valve, and Filling Chamber) should be cleaned at least once every two weeks. These parts should only be used by one person. The Balloon should be replaced whenever the Valve is cleaned.

1. **Cleaning Solution:** For manual cleaning, use rubbing alcohol with paper/cotton towels or dishwashing liquid with warm water. Components may also be cleaned in a dishwasher, but Screens and small parts of the Filling Chamber Insert might get lost.

2. **Plastic Parts:** Do not immerse any plastic components in ethanol or alcohol for longer than an hour, as this may lead to discoloration or embrittlement.

3. **Disassembly:**

• **Mouthpiece:** Pull off the Lip Piece from the Mouthpiece Cylinder, then remove the Cylinder from the Housing.

• **Valve:** Undo the Slipring and remove the Valve Balloon with the Balloon Fixation Ring. Push up the Valve Cylinder from inside to unscrew the Valve Cap. Remove the Cap and Valve Ring. Pull out the Valve Cylinder and Valve Spring from the Valve Housing.

• **Filling Chamber Insert:** Unscrew the hex nut to disassemble.

• **Filling Chamber:** Push out the lower Screen. Pull off the Filling Chamber Ring with tweezers. Unscrew the Filling Chamber Housing from the Cylinder.

4. **Inspect and Reassemble:** After cleaning and drying, check all parts for damage. Reassemble all components in reverse order.

To attach a new balloon to the STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO SOLID VALVE or EASY VALVE with Balloon Adapter, use an odor-free, heat-resistant, and food-safe oven tube or oven bag.

1. **Prepare the Balloon:** Cut a piece of balloon material approx. 50-60 cm (19-23 inch) long. Tie one end tightly closed. Loosen the material by inserting your hand into the tube.

2. **Fold the Opening:** The opening of the balloon is wider than the Valve Housing. Neatly fold the opening into 16 folds to make it fit.

3. **Attach to Valve:** Pull the Balloon Fixation Ring approx. 3 cm (1.2 inch) over the open end of the balloon. Then, pull the Fixation Ring with the balloon over the Valve Collar until it fits into the intended notch.

4. **Secure the Balloon:** Adjust the folds equally around the Valve Collar. Bend the protruding end of the balloon back. Secure it by pulling the Slipring over both the Valve and the Balloon Fixation Ring, so the Ring is no longer visible and the protruding end points backwards.

5. **Trim (Optional):** If needed, the extending collar can be trimmed with scissors, being careful not to make a hole in the balloon.

The Drip Pad is used to vaporize extracts (aromatic oils) with your STORZ & BICKEL VOLCANO.

1. **Preparation:** Remove the Screens from the Filling Chamber (both EASY VALVE and SOLID VALVE). Insert the Drip Pad in place of the lower Screen. For the SOLID VALVE, you will also need the Filling Chamber Disc from the Insert, as the valve cannot open without it.

2. **Application:** Turn the Filling Chamber upside down. Use a pipette to drop the extract onto the center of the bottom of the Drip Pad. The Drip Pad can hold up to 10 drops. If using an extract with unknown concentration, start with one drop and increase the dosage carefully. Be aware that oils become more liquid at high temperatures; using too many drops could cause the extract to drip into the Hot Air Generator.

3. **For Alcoholic Solutions:** If the extract is in an alcoholic solution, first evaporate the alcohol. Place the Filling Chamber on the unheated VOLCANO and switch on the air pump until the alcohol odor is gone. Then, heat the VOLCANO to vaporize the extract.

Cleaning the Drip Pad: Put the Drip Pad in rubbing alcohol and rinse it thoroughly. It can be reused multiple times if cleaned well.
