This technique captures both sound pressure level and time-of-arrival differences. For the ORTF configuration shown, microphones are spaced 17 cm apart and angled outwards at 110°.

What is Baffle stereo (OSS) recording?

This technique uses a baffle (like a disk) placed between two microphones. It captures sound pressure level, time-of-arrival, and spectral differences (changes in frequency balance for off-axis sounds) to create the stereo image.
