What should I do if the SENCOR SPP 2100WH is accidentally turned on while empty?
Do not turn on the appliance when it is empty. Incorrect use may negatively affect its lifetime. For the event that it is accidentally started, the appliance is equipped with a thermal fuse that will turn it off in the case of overheating in order to prevent its damage. It is necessary to allow the appliance to cool down for at least 30 minutes before using it again. Do not pour liquids into the boiler immediately after it was turned off. Do not pour icy cold water into the appliance when it is hot, as the enamelled surface of the boiler could crack.
What should I do before using the SENCOR SPP 2100WH for the first time?
■ Remove all packaging materials, including promotional tags and labels from the appliance and its accessories.
■ Wipe the inner surface of the boiler (A3) with a dampened cloth. Fill it with approximately 5 litres of clean water and allow the water to boil in it for approximately 10 minutes. Then allow the appliance to cool down.
■ Place a container underneath the tap (A4) and drain the water into it.
Note: When first turned on, a slight odour may be noticed. This is an entirely normal event, which will disappear in a short time.
The appliance is now ready for operation.
How do I operate the SENCOR SPP 2100WH for canning?
■ Place the appliance on a horizontal, dry and stable surface and fully unwind the power cord.
■ Fill the boiler (A3) with the required amount of water, at least 5 litres but no more than 5 cm below the top edge.
■ First place the canning rack (A10) on the bottom of the boiler. Place the canning jars on the rack and then fill up with the required amount of water. Never place canning jars directly on the bottom. Canning jars should be submerged in water up to 2/3 to 3/4 of their height. If you stack them, the jars in the top row should also be submerged up to 3/4 of their height.
■ Close the boiler with the lid (A1) and plug the power cord into a power socket. Set switch (A8) to the position for sound signal and select the desired canning temperature with the temperature control knob (A6). Set the timer (A9) to position “On/Cont.” (continuous operation). The indicator light (A7) will turn on, signaling that it is heating up.
■ When the set temperature is reached, an acoustic signal will sound and the indicator light (A7) will turn off.
■ Once heated, set the switch (A8) to the position marked by the sound symbol and use the timer (A9) to set the desired canning time. The indicator light (A7) will turn on and off during operation, signaling that the temperature is being maintained.
■ After setting the timer (A9), do not change the temperature control knob (A6) setting, as this may cause a countdown error.
■ At the end of the set time, a sound is made and the appliance turns off automatically.
■ After canning, let the contents cool for a while. Drain most of the water through the tap (A4), but keep the bottom of the boiler covered with water until it cools completely. Water can be drained by pushing the tap lever down or by lifting it up to lock it in the open position.
■ After draining the water, carefully take out the canning jars using canning tongs or kitchen gloves. Allow the jars to cool down naturally turned upside down on a wiping cloth. Submerge tin cans into cold water.
How do I use the SENCOR SPP 2100WH for heating liquids like soups or mulled wine?
■ Make sure that the canning rack (A10) is removed from the boiler (A3).
■ To heat liquids, set switch (A8) to the sound signal position and use the temperature control knob (A6) to set the temperature. Set the timer (A9) to “On/Cont.” (continuous operation). When the set temperature is reached, an acoustic signal will be made and the indicator light (A7) will turn off.
■ Set the switch (A8) to the sound symbol position. Use the timer (A9) to set the time for which you wish to heat the liquids or keep them warm. If you need to adjust the temperature, you must also set the timer (A9) again.
■ To continuously heat liquids without automatic shut-off, set the timer (A9) to “On/Cont.”.
■ Viscous liquids need to be stirred constantly during heating to prevent burning. Regular stirring is also required when they are being kept warm.
■ The tap (A4) is suitable for draining low-viscosity liquids like mulled wine or hot tea. Do not use it for soups or sauces. Use a ladle to remove thicker liquids.
■ After use, set the temperature control knob (A6) and timer (A9) to OFF and disconnect from the power socket. Allow it to cool down before handling.
What are some general tips for canning with the SENCOR SPP 2100WH?
■ For canning, only use good quality, fresh and ripe ingredients. Thoroughly wash them and let them dry.
■ Canning containers (jars, tin cans, etc.) and their lids must be sterilised before being filled. Do not touch the inside of sterilised containers or lids. Do not use damaged containers or lids.
■ Fill jars to no more than 2 cm below the top edge. For blended foods, pulps, or ketchups, fill to no more than 3 to 4 cm below the top edge.
■ When canning meat or smoked goods, fill containers only to 3/4 of their capacity. Remove bones from meat before canning. Put it in jars while still warm and pour gravy over it if necessary. Leave canned meat to stand until the next day and then can it again for 1 hour.
■ Do not can foods containing cream or flour. These are added when the food is later heated for consumption.
■ Always firmly close the canning jars after filling them.
■ The canning time starts only after the target temperature has been reached.
■ For steam sterilisation, fill the boiler with water to approximately 15 cm in depth and place jars on the canning rack. If water evaporates, top it up and extend the canning time by the time required to reach the desired temperature again.
■ Mark the contents and canning date on the jars. Store canned goods in a cold, dark place.
■ Canned goods have a long shelf life, but not unlimited. Check them and consume regularly. If an opened jar shows signs of spoilage (odour, film on the surface), never consume its contents.
