The PHONAK CHARGERGO RIC SPH I consists of the following parts:

• Charger case lid

• Hearing aid charging slots with left/right indicators

• Cavity for earpieces

• Indicator light for internal battery status (for rechargeable models)

• USB-C connection to external power supply

The system also includes an external power supply, which is made up of:

• USB cable

• Power supply with wall plug adapter

To connect the PHONAK CHARGERGO RIC SPH I to the power supply, follow these steps:

a) Plug the larger end of the charging cable into the power adapter.

b) Plug the smaller end into the USB port on the charger.

c) Plug the power adapter into a power outlet.

d) The indicator light around the USB port is green when the charger is connected to the power supply.

e) Make sure you have access to the power adapter during charging.

Before using your PHONAK CHARGERGO RIC SPH I for the first time, you must pull the insulating tab out to activate the internal battery. After pulling out the insulating tab, the indicator light will be red for 10 seconds. If the built-in battery is fully charged, the hearing aids can be charged up to 3 times.

The indicator light turns off after a short time to save battery.

1. Insert the hearing aids into the charging slots. Make sure the left (L) and right (R) hearing aid markings match the indicators next to the charging slots. The hearing aids will automatically switch off when inserted into the charger.

2. The indicator light on the hearing aids will show the charging state of their battery until the hearing aids are fully charged. When fully charged, the green indicator light on the hearing aids will remain on.

3. Remove the hearing aids from the charging slots by lifting them out of the charger. Do not hold the tubes to remove the hearing aids as this can damage the tubes.

The charging process will automatically stop when the batteries are fully charged. It can take up to 3 hours to fully charge the hearing aids. The charger lid should be closed while charging.

• Low power: You will hear two beeps when the hearing aids battery is low. You will have approximately 60 minutes before you have to charge the hearing aids (this can vary, depending on the hearing aid settings).

• First time use: Before using your hearing aids for the first time, it is recommended to charge them for 3 hours.

• Dryness: The hearing aids must be dry before charging.

• Temperature: Please ensure to charge and use the hearing aids within the operating temperature range: +5° to +40° Celsius (41° to 104° Fahrenheit).

• Always make sure that the hearing aids and charger are dry and clean before charging.

The hearing aids switch on automatically when removed from the charger. The indicator light starts blinking. The solid green light indicates the hearing aids are ready. By default, the hearing aids are programmed so that they turn on automatically when they are removed from a charger that is connected to the power supply. Your hearing care professional can turn this setting off. In this case, you will need to switch the hearing aid on manually.

Prolonged storage at temperature lower than +10 °C and higher than +30 °C may negatively affect the battery performance of the product.

• Non rechargeable models are classified as IP21. This means that the chargers are protected from vertically falling drops of water e.g. condensation. IP21 is satisfied when the charger lid is closed.

• Rechargeable models are classified as IP22. This means that the charger is protected from vertically falling drops of water when the charger is tilted up to 15 degrees from the horizontal. IP22 is satisfied when the charger lid is closed.

Daily

Make sure that charging slots are clean. Otherwise, clean the surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth. Never use cleaning agents such as household detergents, soap, etc. for cleaning your charger. Do not rinse your charger with water.

Weekly

Remove dust or dirt from the charging slots with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Important:

• Always make sure that the hearing aids and charger are dry and clean before charging.

• Always make sure that the charger is disconnected from the power mains before cleaning.

If the charging of the hearing aid does not start, please check the following:

*Only applicable for rechargeable models.

If the problem persists, contact your hearing care professional for assistance.

Please observe the following safety warnings:

• Charger and power supply must be protected from shocks. If damaged, they must not be used.

• Protect from heat and sunlight. Do not use a microwave or other heating devices to dry your hearing aids.

• Only authorized personnel are allowed to open the charging accessory due to possible electrical hazard.

• Cables and cords can pose a strangulation hazard. Do not leave the device unattended with children, individuals with cognitive impairment, or pets.

• Do not use in explosive areas (e.g., mines, oxygen-rich environments). The device is not ATEX certified.

• Avoid using this equipment adjacent to or stacked with other equipment to prevent improper operation.

• For rechargeable models with lithium-ion batteries, do not place them in checked-in luggage. They should be in carry-on/hand luggage and shipped according to local regulations for dangerous goods.

• Use only IEC 60950-1, IEC 62368-1, or IEC 60601-1 certified charging equipment within the specified power specifications.

• Do not place the charger close to an induction cooking surface.

• For persons with active implantable medical devices (pacemakers, defibrillators, etc.): Keep the charging device at least 15 cm (6 inches) away from the active implant. If you experience interference, stop using the device and contact the implant manufacturer.

• Do not touch the contacts of the charger when it is powered.

• Do not expose the device to temperatures outside the specified operation conditions, as the lithium-ion batteries might swell, leak, or explode.

• If you notice any swelling or deformation in the charger, stop using it immediately. Swollen batteries are a serious safety hazard.

• Do not use your hearing aid or charger in areas where electronic equipment is prohibited.

• Changes or modifications to the device not explicitly approved by Sonova AG are not permitted and may damage the device.

Yes, please take note of the following:

• Recharge Regularly: The built-in battery of the rechargeable charger must be recharged every 3 months. This will prevent a deep discharge of the built-in battery. Deep discharged batteries may be damaged if recharged and could catch fire.

• Do Not Drop: Dropping your charging accessories onto a hard surface can damage them.

• Keep USB Port Clean: Always keep the USB socket of the device and the USB plug of the cable clean and dry. Foreign particles or moisture in the USB connection can lead to an electrical fault, which can heat up the USB connection and, in the worst case, cause it to melt. If the indicator light around the USB port goes off during charging, check the USB connection.

• Environmental Conditions: Only use the device according to the environmental conditions specified. Using it otherwise may heat the hearing aid up to temperatures that could lead to skin burns.
