To maintain quality, it is recommended to use genuine Kyocera toner containers, which must pass numerous quality inspections. The use of non-genuine toner containers may cause failure. The manufacturer will not be liable for any damages caused by the use of third-party supplies in the machine.

The equipment’s serial number is printed on a label located inside the front cover of the machine, to the left. You will need this serial number when contacting your Service Representative.

The service environmental conditions for the KYOCERA ECOSYS MA6000IFX are as follows:

Avoid the following locations when selecting a site for the machine:

• Avoid locations near a window or with exposure to direct sunlight.

• Avoid locations with vibrations.

• Avoid locations with drastic temperature fluctuations.

• Avoid locations with direct exposure to hot or cold air.

• Avoid poorly ventilated locations.

When handling consumables like toner for your KYOCERA ECOSYS MA6000IFX, please observe the following precautions:

• Do not attempt to incinerate parts which contain toner. Dangerous sparks may cause burns.

• Keep parts which contain toner out of the reach of children.

• If toner spills, avoid inhalation and ingestion, as well as contact with your eyes and skin.

• If you inhale toner, move to a place with fresh air and gargle thoroughly. If coughing develops, contact a physician.

• If you ingest toner, rinse your mouth with water and drink 1 or 2 cups of water to dilute it. If necessary, contact a physician.

• If you get toner in your eyes, flush them thoroughly with water. If there is any remaining tenderness, contact a physician.

• If toner gets on your skin, wash with soap and water.

• Do not attempt to force open or destroy parts which contain toner.

Before you begin, ensure the power is off.

Step 1. Connect the LAN cable to the network interface connector on the rear of the machine.

Step 2. Connect the other end of the cable to the hub.

Step 3. Power on the machine and configure the network settings as needed.

Step 1. Connect the USB cable to the USB interface connector on the rear of the machine.

Step 2. Connect the other end of the cable to the PC.

Step 3. Power on the machine.

Power On

Turn the power switch, located on the front left side of the machine, to the on position.

Power Off

Step 1. Turn the power switch off. A confirmation message will be displayed on the screen.

Step 2. It takes approximately 3 minutes for the machine to completely power off.

Important Notes:

• When turning the power switch off, wait more than 5 seconds before turning it on again.

• If the machine will be left unused for an extended period (e.g., overnight or vacation), turn it off at the main power switch and remove the power plug from the outlet as a safety precaution.

Follow these steps to set the local date and time. This information is used in the header of E-mail messages sent from the machine.

Step 1. Press the [Home] key, then select […] > [System Menu] > [Device Settings] > [Date/Time].

Step 2. Configure the following settings:

The KYOCERA ECOSYS MA6000IFX has several energy-saving modes to reduce power consumption.

Low Power Mode

If the machine is not operated for a certain period (default is 1 minute), it enters Low Power Mode. The energy saver indicator will light up, and the screen will dim. The machine automatically wakes up to print or receive faxes. To manually resume, select any key or touch the touch panel.

Sleep Mode

After a further period of inactivity, the machine enters Sleep Mode, which minimizes power consumption. To manually enter Sleep Mode, press the [Energy Saver] key. All indicators except the Energy Saver indicator will go out.

Auto Sleep

The machine automatically switches into Sleep if left idle for a preset time (default is 1 minute).

The cassettes can hold plain, recycled, or color paper with a weight between 60 – 120 g/m². Do not load paper heavier than 120 g/m².

Step 1. Pull the cassette completely out of the machine, ensuring it is supported so it does not fall.

Step 2. Adjust the paper width guides and the paper length guide to the paper size required. Press the adjusting tabs and slide the guides. Paper sizes are marked on the cassette.

Step 3. Turn the size dial so that the size of the paper you are using appears in the paper size window. If set to “Other”, the size must be set on the operation panel.

Step 4. Fan the paper, then tap it on a level surface to avoid jams.

Step 5. Load the paper in the cassette with the print side facing down. Do not exceed the level indicator.

Step 6. Gently push the cassette back into the machine.

Step 7. Specify the type of paper loaded in the cassette using the operation panel.

The multi purpose tray can hold up to 100 sheets of plain paper (80 g/m²) and is used for special paper types.

Step 1. Open the multi purpose tray.

Step 2. Pull out the support tray section of the MP tray.

Step 3. Adjust the multi purpose tray size guides to match the paper size.

Step 4. Fan the paper and then insert it along the paper width guides until it stops. Load paper with the print side facing up.

Step 5. Specify the type of paper loaded in the multi purpose tray using the operation panel.

To print on a paper size not included in the standard print sizes, you must first register the paper size in the printer driver.

Register the Paper Size

Step 1. Open the printer properties and go to the preferences.

Step 2. In the [Basic] tab, click the [Page Size…] button.

Step 3. Click the [New] button.

Step 4. Enter the paper size (width and length).

Step 5. Enter a name for the paper size.

Step 6. Click the [Save] button, and then click [OK] to close the dialogs.

Print the Document

Step 1. In your application, select [File] and then [Print].

Step 2. Select the KYOCERA ECOSYS MA6000IFX and click [Properties].

Step 3. In the [Basic] tab, click the “Print size” menu and select the custom paper size you just registered.

Step 4. Select the paper source in the “Source” menu (usually the Multipurpose tray).

Step 5. Click [OK] to return to the Print dialog box, and then click [OK] again to start printing.

Private Print allows you to send a print job to the machine and hold it until you release it with a password at the operation panel, ensuring confidentiality.

Sending the Private Print Job from your computer:

Step 1. In your application, click [File] and select [Print].

Step 2. Select the KYOCERA ECOSYS MA6000IFX and click [Properties].

Step 3. Click the [Job] tab and check the [Job storage (e-MPS)] box.

Step 4. Select ‘Private Print’ from the job type list and enter a 4-digit password when prompted.

Step 5. Click [OK] to send the job to the machine.

Printing the job at the machine:

Step 1. On the operation panel, select the [Home] key > [Job Box].

Step 2. Select [Private Print/Stored Job].

Step 3. Select your document from the list.

Step 4. Select [Print].

Step 5. Enter the 4-digit password you set earlier.

Step 6. Specify the number of copies and select [OK]. The job will print and then be automatically deleted.

Step 1. Press the [Home] key and select [Copy].

Step 2. Place the originals on the platen glass (face down) or in the document processor (face up).

Step 3. To configure settings such as zoom, paper selection, or duplex, use the options on the touch screen.

Step 4. Use the numeric keys on the touch panel to enter the desired number of copies (up to 999).

Step 5. Press the [Start] key to begin copying.

Before you begin, ensure that SMTP and e-mail settings have been configured in Command Center RX.

Step 1. Press the [Home] key and select [Send].

Step 2. Place the originals on the platen glass (face down) or in the document processor (face up).

Step 3. In the destination screen, select [+] > [Email].

Step 4. Enter the destination E-mail address and select [OK]. You can enter up to 100 addresses by selecting [Next Destination].

Step 5. Configure other functions like file format or scan resolution using the options on the touch screen.

Step 6. Press the [Start] key to scan the original and send the E-mail.

Step 1. Press the [Home] key and select [Custom Box].

Step 2. Place your originals on the platen glass or in the document processor.

Step 3. Select the desired Custom Box, then select [Store File].

Step 4. Set the original type, file format, and other scan settings as desired.

Step 5. Press the [Start] key. The original will be scanned and the data stored in the specified Custom Box.

To ensure optimum printing quality, clean the machine regularly. Always unplug the power cord before cleaning.

Glass Platen:

Wipe the inside of the document processor and the glass platen with a soft cloth dampened with alcohol or mild detergent. Do not use thinner or other organic solvents.

Slit Glass:

When using the document processor, clean the slit glass surface and the reading guide with a dry cloth. Do not use water, soap or solvents.

Registration Roller:

Step 1. Open the front cover.

Step 2. Open the inner cover and carefully clean the registration roller with a soft, dry cloth.

Step 3. Close all covers.

Vents:

Use a lint-free cloth to clean dust and dirt away from the vents on the machine.

When the touch panel displays “Toner is empty.”, replace the toner container following these steps:

Step 1. Open the front cover of the machine.

Step 2. Unlock the toner container by pushing the lock lever up.

Step 3. Pull the old toner container out, lifting the right-hand side first.

Step 4. Unpack the new toner container. Do not touch the contact points on the container.

Step 5. Shake the new toner container horizontally about 10 times to distribute the toner evenly.

Step 6. Insert the new toner container into the machine.

Step 7. Push the lock lever down to lock the new container in place.

Step 8. Close the front cover. The machine will start to initialize.

When the message “Replace the waste toner box.” is displayed, follow these steps:

Step 1. Open the left cover of the machine.

Step 2. Pull the old waste toner box out.

Step 3. Place the old box in the provided plastic bag and seal it.

Step 4. Insert the new waste toner box into the machine until it clicks into place.

Step 5. Close the left cover.

If a paper jam occurs, the touch panel will display “Paper Jam.” and indicate the location of the jam. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the jammed paper. Do not reuse jammed papers. If paper tears, ensure all scraps are removed to prevent subsequent jams. Common jam locations and removal instructions are provided in the manual’s troubleshooting section, covering the Multipurpose Tray, Cassettes, Duplex Unit, inside the machine, and the Document Processor.

If your printouts are too light, try the following solutions:

• Check the paper: If the paper is damp, replace it with new paper.

• Adjust density: The density setting may be too low. Select an appropriate density level in the settings.

• Check the toner container: The toner may not be distributed evenly. Remove the toner container and shake it from side to side several times to distribute the toner.

• Disable EcoPrint mode: EcoPrint mode saves toner, resulting in lighter prints. Disable this mode for darker prints.

• Run Drum Refresh: This maintenance function can help improve print quality.

• Check paper type setting: Ensure the paper type setting in the machine matches the paper being used.

If you are having trouble sending to an SMB folder, check the following points:

• Network Connection: Ensure the network cable is securely connected.

• Network Settings: Verify that the TCP/IP settings on the machine are configured correctly.

• Folder Sharing: Check the sharing settings and access privileges for the destination folder on the PC.

• Primary Network: Ensure the correct network interface is selected as the Primary Network.

• SMB Protocol: Confirm that the SMB protocol is set to [On] in the machine’s settings.

• Host Name, Path, Login Credentials: Double-check that the Host Name, Folder Path, Login User Name, and Login Password have been entered correctly and match the settings on the destination PC.

• Windows Firewall: Ensure that exceptions for file and printer sharing have been configured properly in the Windows Firewall on the destination PC.

• Time Settings: Verify that the time settings on the machine, domain server, and destination computer are synchronized.
