Follow these steps to connect your printer to a wired network:

1. Ensure the power is turned off before starting.

2. Connect the LAN cable to the network interface connector on the machine.

3. Connect the other end of the cable to the hub.

4. Power on the machine and configure the network settings from the operation panel.

Follow these steps to connect your printer directly to a computer:

1. Ensure the power is turned off before starting.

2. Connect the USB cable to the USB interface connector on the machine.

Power On:

1. Turn the power switch on. The switch is located on the front of the machine.

Power Off:

1. Turn the power switch off.

2. A confirmation message will be displayed on the screen. It takes approximately 3 minutes for the machine to power off completely.

IMPORTANT: When turning the power switch off, wait more than 5 seconds before turning it back on again.

Before loading paper, follow these precautions to prevent jams and ensure good print quality:

• When opening a new package of paper, fan the sheets to separate them slightly, then tap the stack on a level surface.

• If the paper is curled or folded, straighten it before loading.

• Avoid exposing opened paper to high temperatures and humidity. Seal any remaining paper back in its storage bag.

• If the machine will not be used for a prolonged period, remove paper from the cassettes and MP tray and seal it in its storage bag.

• Do not use inkjet printer paper or any paper with a special surface coating.

• IMPORTANT: If you are printing on used paper (paper already printed on one side), do not use paper that has been stapled or clipped together, as this may damage the machine.

Follow these steps to load paper into Cassette 1 to 5. Each cassette can hold up to 500 sheets of plain paper (80 g/m²).

1. Pull the cassette completely out of the machine. Ensure it is supported so it does not fall.

2. Adjust the cassette size:

• Adjust the paper width guides by pressing the adjusting tab and sliding the guides to the required paper size.

• Adjust the paper length guide by pressing the adjusting tab and sliding the guide to the required paper size.

3. Turn the size dial so that the size of the paper you are using appears in the paper size window.

• Fan the paper stack and tap it on a level surface.

• When loading paper, keep the print side facing up.

• Ensure curled paper is uncurled before use.

• Do not load paper beyond the level indicator.

Follow these steps for a basic copy operation:

1. Press the [Home] key, then select [Copy].

2. Place the originals. You can either place a single sheet or book on the platen (face down) or place a stack of sheets in the document processor (face up).

3. Select functions. To configure settings like paper size, zoom, or duplex, select the appropriate option from the Global Navigation tabs on the left of the touch screen.

4. Use the numeric keys to enter the copy quantity. Select the number area on the screen to bring up the numeric keypad and enter the desired number of copies (up to 999).

5. Press the [Start] key. Copying will begin.

To cancel a copy or sending job in progress:

1. Select the [Stop] key while the copy or send screen is displayed.

2. The action depends on the job status:

• If a job is being scanned: The job will be canceled immediately.

• If a job is printing or on standby: The Canceling job screen appears. The current print job is temporarily interrupted. Select the job you wish to cancel > [Cancel] > [Yes].

Before sending an e-mail, SMTP settings must be configured from Command Center RX.

1. Press the [Home] key, then select [Send].

2. Place the originals on the platen or in the document processor.

3. On the destination screen, select [+] > [Email].

4. Enter the destination E-mail address and select [OK]. You can enter up to 256 characters. To add more recipients, select [Next Destination].

• Job Box: A generic name for system boxes like “Private Print/Stored Job Box”, “Quick Copy/Proof and Hold Box”, and “PIN Print Box”. These boxes are used for specific printing workflows and cannot be created or deleted by a user.

• USB Drive Box: Allows you to print files directly from a connected USB drive without a PC, or save scanned images to the USB drive.

• Fax Box: Stores fax data (on applicable models).

You can print supported file types (PDF, TIFF, JPEG, XPS) directly from a USB drive.

1. Plug the USB drive into the USB Memory Slot on the front of the machine.

2. A message “USB Drive is recognized. Displaying files.” may appear. Select [Continue]. If the message does not appear, select [USB Drive] on the Home screen.

3. Select the folder containing the file you want to print.

4. Select the file to be printed and then select [Print].

5. Change the number of copies, duplex settings, etc., as desired.

6. Press the [Start] key. Printing will begin.

Follow these steps to scan a document and save it to a connected USB drive:

1. Place the originals on the platen or in the document processor.

2. Plug the USB drive into the USB Memory Slot.

3. When the machine recognizes the USB drive, select [Continue]. The USB Drive screen appears.

4. Select the folder where you want to save the file.

5. Select [Store File].

6. Set the original type, file format, and other settings as desired.

7. Press the [Start] key. The original is scanned and the data is stored in the USB drive.

You can check the status of jobs that are currently processing or waiting to be printed.

1. Press the [Status/Job Cancel] key on the operation panel.

2. Select the job type you want to check: [Print Jobs], [Send Jobs], or [Store Jobs]. For delayed transmissions, select [Send Jobs] > [Scheduled Job].

3. The screen will display a list of jobs with their status. You can view details such as Job Name, User Name, Accept Time, and Status (e.g., Processing, Waiting, Error).

4. To view more detailed information about a specific job, select the information icon (•••) next to that job.

You can check the amount of toner and paper, as well as the condition of machine components, from the touch panel.

1. Press the [Home] key.

2. Select [Device Information].

3. Select [Supplies/Unit Status].

4. The screen will display the following information:

• Toner Information: The amount of remaining toner is shown in levels. The status of the waste toner box is also displayed.

• Paper Status: Shows the size, orientation, type, and remaining amount of paper in each paper source.

• Condition of the unit: Displays the remaining life of the Developer Unit, Document Processor, and Cassette.

CAUTION: For safety, always unplug the power cord before cleaning the machine.

• Glass Platen: Wipe the inside of the document processor and the glass platen with a soft cloth dampened with alcohol or mild detergent. Do not use thinner or other organic solvents.

• Slit Glass: When using the document processor, clean the slit glass surface and the reading guide with a dry cloth. Do not use water, soap, or solvents. Dirt on the slit glass can cause black streaks in the output.

• Registration Roller: Open the front cover and the toner container section. Use a soft cloth to clean the registration roller. Be careful not to touch the black transfer roller or brown transfer belt, as this may affect print quality.

• Vents: Use a lint-free cloth to clean dust and dirt away from the vents on the machine.

When the touch panel displays “Toner is empty,” follow these steps to replace the toner container:

1. Open the front cover of the machine.

2. Push the toner container lock lever to unlock it, then pull the old toner container out of the machine.

3. Take the new toner container out of its box and packaging.

4. Shake the new toner container horizontally about 10 times to distribute the toner evenly inside.

5. Insert the new toner container into the machine.

6. Push the toner container lock lever down to lock the new container in place.

7. Close the front cover. If the cover does not close, ensure the toner container is installed correctly.

When the message “Replace the waste toner box.” is displayed, follow these steps:

1. Open the left cover of the machine.

2. Pull the old waste toner box out.

3. Prepare the new waste toner box. Place the old box in the provided plastic bag and seal it.

4. Insert the new waste toner box into the machine until it clicks into place.

5. Close the left cover.
