You can connect your KYOCERA ECOSYS MA4500IX using a LAN cable for network printing/scanning or a USB cable for direct connection to a PC. Ensure the power is off before connecting cables.

Connecting a LAN Cable:

Step 1. Connect the LAN cable to the network interface connector on the machine.

Step 2. Connect the other end of the cable to the hub.

Step 3. Power on the machine and configure the network.

Connecting a USB Cable:

Step 1. Connect the USB cable to the USB interface connector on the machine.

Step 2. Connect the other end of the cable to the PC.

Step 3. Power on the machine.

Connecting the Power Cable:

Connect one end of the supplied power cable to the machine and the other end to a power outlet. Only use the power cable that comes with the machine.

Power On:

Turn the power switch on. The switch is located on the front of the machine.

Power Off:

Step 1. Turn the power switch off.

Step 2. A confirmation message for power supply off is displayed. It takes approximately 3 minutes for the machine to power off completely.

Important Notes:

• When turning the power switch off, wait more than 5 seconds before turning it on again.

• If the machine will be left unused for an extended period (e.g., overnight), turn it off at the main power switch. For longer periods (e.g., vacation), remove the power plug from the outlet.

• Turning off the main power switch disables fax transmission and reception.

Step 1. Press the [Home] key, then select […] > [System Menu] > [Function Settings] > [Home].

Step 2. Configure the settings:

• Customize Desktop: Specify the function icons to display on the desktop. You can add, delete, or reorder icons. Select [Add], choose a function, and select [OK]. A maximum of 60 icons can be displayed.

• Customize Taskbar: Specify the icons to display on the taskbar. You can assign up to 4 task icons.

• Wallpaper: Change the background wallpaper of the Home screen. There are 8 images available.

Follow these steps to load paper into the cassettes:

Step 1. Pull the cassette completely out of the machine, ensuring it is supported so it does not fall.

Step 2. Adjust the cassette size. Press the paper width and length adjusting tabs and slide the guides to the required paper size.

Step 3. Turn the size dial so that the correct paper size appears in the paper size window. If using a custom size, set the dial to “Other”.

Step 4. Press the bottom plate down until it locks.

Step 5. Fan the paper stack, tap it on a level surface, and load it into the cassette with the print side facing down. Do not exceed the level indicator.

Step 6. Gently push the cassette back into the machine.

Step 7. Specify the paper size and media type on the operation panel if prompted.

The Multi Purpose Tray can hold up to 100 sheets of plain paper and is used for special media like thick paper, transparencies, or envelopes.

Step 1. Open the multi purpose tray.

Step 2. Pull out the support tray section.

Step 3. Adjust the paper width guides to the size of the paper you are loading.

Step 4. Fan the paper stack and insert it along the paper width guides until it stops. Load it with the print side facing up.

Step 5. Specify the paper type loaded in the multi purpose tray using the operation panel.

Step 1. Press the [Home] key and select [Copy].

Step 2. Place the originals on the platen (face down) or in the document processor (face up).

Step 3. Select functions from the touch screen as needed (e.g., paper size, zoom, density).

Step 4. Use the numeric keys to enter the desired number of copies (up to 999).

Step 5. Press the [Start] key to begin copying.

Before sending, ensure that SMTP and e-mail settings are configured.

Step 1. Press the [Home] key and select [Send].

Step 2. Place the originals on the platen or in the document processor.

Step 3. On the destination screen, select [+] > [Email].

Step 4. Enter the destination E-mail address and select [OK]. You can add multiple destinations by selecting [Next Destination].

Step 5. Configure other scan settings (e.g., file format, resolution) from the Global Navigation tabs as needed.

Step 6. Press the [Start] key to scan and send the document.

If a paper jam occurs, the touch panel will display “Paper Jam.” and indicate the location of the jam. Follow the on-screen instructions to clear it.

General Precautions:

• Do not reuse jammed papers.

• If paper tears during removal, ensure all scraps are removed to prevent subsequent jams.

• The fixing unit can be extremely hot. Be careful when working in this area.

Common Jam Locations and Removal:

• Multipurpose Tray: Gently pull the jammed paper out from the tray.

• Cassettes: Pull the specified cassette out, remove the jammed paper, and reinsert the cassette.

• Duplex Unit: Pull out the cassette below the jam location, open the duplex unit cover, and remove the jammed paper.

• Inside the Machine: Open the front cover, remove the toner container, and carefully pull out the jammed paper.

• Inner Tray / Inside Rear Cover: Open the document processor, then open the rear cover and carefully remove the jammed paper.

• Document Processor: Open the document processor top cover and remove any jammed originals.

After you remove the jam, the machine will warm up and the error message will be cleared.

When the touch panel displays “Toner is empty.”, replace the toner container.

Step 1. Open the front cover of the machine.

Step 2. Lift the toner container lock lever up.

Step 3. Pull the old toner container out of the machine. Lift the right hand side first when removing.

Step 4. Unpack the new toner container. Do not touch the contact points on the container.

Step 5. Shake the new toner container about 10 times to distribute the toner evenly inside.

Step 6. Insert the new toner container into the machine.

Step 7. Push the toner container lock lever down until it clicks into place.

Step 8. Close the front cover.

When the waste toner box is full, the message “Replace the waste toner box.” will be displayed.

Step 1. Open the left cover of the machine.

Step 2. Unlock the waste toner box by turning the lever, then carefully pull it out.

Step 3. Place the old waste toner box in the supplied plastic bag and seal it. Prepare the new box.

Step 4. Insert the new waste toner box into the machine and lock it in place with the lever.

Step 5. Close the left cover.
