CAUTION: Floorstanding loudspeakers have a high center of gravity and may become unstable and tip over during earthquakes or if they are rocked, tipped, or improperly positioned. Consider anchoring these speakers to the wall behind them using procedures and hardware customary for bookcases and wall units. You are responsible for proper selection and installation of hardware. When installing screws, do not over-tighten.

When wall-mounting, avoid in-wall electrical lines and seek professional guidance if you are unclear on how to proceed safely. Ensure that all electrical components are turned OFF and unplugged from electrical outlets before connecting other components.

The assembly for the JBL STAGE 2 240B involves applying the included adhesive feet to the bottom of the speaker cabinet. There are four circular indentations on the bottom of the speaker where the four circular feet should be placed.

Follow these steps to wall-mount your speakers:

1. Use a power drill to create holes in the wall where you intend to mount the speakers.

2. Insert the appropriate wall anchors into the drilled holes, then insert the screws, leaving them partially out of the wall.

3. On the back of the speaker, there is a mounting point. Unscrew the two screws, place the included bracket over the holes, and then re-insert and tighten the screws to secure the bracket to the speaker.

4. Hang the speaker onto the screws in the wall using the keyhole slots on the bracket.

5. To secure the speaker in place, tighten the locking screw located in the center of the bracket against the wall.

There are three common methods for connecting speaker wire to the binding posts on the JBL STAGE 2 240B:

A. Bare Wire Connection:

1. Unscrew the binding post cap.

2. Insert the bare end of the speaker wire through the hole in the side of the binding post.

3. Tighten the binding post cap to secure the wire.

B. Spade Lug Connection:

1. Unscrew the binding post cap.

2. Place the spade lug around the binding post.

3. Tighten the binding post cap to secure the lug.

C. Banana Plug Connection:

1. Make sure the binding post cap is fully tightened.

2. Insert the banana plug directly into the hole at the end of the binding post cap.

For a 2.0 stereo setup, place the left (L) and right (R) speakers so they form a 40° to 60° angle with the main listening position. For a 2.1 system, follow the same placement for the L and R speakers and add a subwoofer (Sub) to the system. The subwoofer’s placement can be more flexible, often along the front wall.

For a 5.1 surround sound system, place your speakers as follows:

• Front Left (L) and Right (R): Position these at a 20° to 30° angle relative to the center speaker from the listening position.

• Center (C): Place directly in front of the listening position, typically above or below your display.

• Surround Left (LS) and Surround Right (RS): Position these speakers to the sides of the listening position, at a 110° to 120° angle from the center front.

• Subwoofer (Sub): Placement is flexible, but it is typically located at the front of the room.

The surround speakers (LS and RS) should be placed at a height of 5 to 6 feet (1.5 m to 1.8 m).

For a 7.1 surround sound system, expand on the 5.1 setup:

• Front Left (L), Right (R), and Center (C): Same placement as a 5.1 system, with L and R at a 20° to 30° angle from the center.

• Side Surround Left (LS) and Side Surround Right (RS): Position these to the sides of the listening position at a 90° to 110° angle from the center front.

• Rear Surround Left (LRS) and Rear Surround Right (RRS): Place these speakers behind the listening position at a 135° to 150° angle from the center front.

• Subwoofer (Sub): Typically located at the front of the room.

All surround speakers (side and rear) should be placed at a height of 5 to 6 feet (1.5 m to 1.8 m).
