What are the important warnings regarding the R290 refrigerant used in the ARGO THOR PLUS?

The ARGO THOR PLUS air conditioner uses the special refrigerant R290, which is a fluoride with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3. This refrigerant is flammable and inodorous. While its flammability is very low and it can only be ignited by fire, it can lead to explosions under certain conditions.

Warning:

• Do not try to accelerate the defrosting process or clean the appliance in ways other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

• If repairs are needed, contact your nearest authorized Service Centre. Repairs by unqualified personnel may be dangerous.

• The appliance must be stored in a room without continuously operating ignition sources (e.g., open flames, an operating gas appliance, or an operating electric heater).

• Do not pierce or burn the appliance.

• The ARGO THOR PLUS must be installed, used, and stored in a room with a floor area larger than 12 m².

• Be aware that refrigerants like R290 may have no smell.

What are the general operating and safety instructions for the ARGO THOR PLUS?

Please observe the following safety instructions when using your ARGO THOR PLUS portable air conditioner:

• This appliance is a local air conditioner designed for domestic use only. Use it only as described in the manual.

• Ensure the required voltage and frequency (220-240V~/50 Hz) match your power source.

• Use a fuse style 5ET or SMT 250V. The electricity passing through the fuse cannot exceed 3.15A.

• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities if they have been given proper supervision or instruction.

• Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be done by children without supervision.

• Ensure your electricity system can handle the operating current required by the ARGO THOR PLUS, in addition to other appliances.

• The system socket must always have an efficient earth connection.

• Ensure the plug is fully inserted. Do not use multiple adapters. Do not touch the plug with wet hands. Make sure the plug is clean.

• Do not use the plug to start/stop the unit; use the ON/OFF button on the remote or control panel.

• Do not install the unit in rooms where it may receive water splashes, such as laundry rooms.

What should I do before moving or cleaning the ARGO THOR PLUS?

• Before moving or cleaning the device, ensure that it is unplugged from the socket.

• Do not move the ARGO THOR PLUS while it is operating. First, turn the appliance off, check for any condensate build-up, and empty it if necessary.

• To turn the appliance off completely, set the remote control to OFF and then remove the plug from the socket. Pull on the plug only; do not pull the cord.

What precautions should be taken while the ARGO THOR PLUS is operating?

• Do not leave the unit unattended while it’s operating; turn the unit off and unplug it.

• Do not insert any objects into the air conditioner, as the fan turns at high speed and this is very dangerous.

• Ensure that air circulates freely around the unit. Do not cover the air intake and delivery grilles with drapes or any other means.

• The appliance must be positioned at least 50 cm from any wall or obstacle, on a flat and stable surface to avoid water leaks.

• Keep the unit away from fire, possible fire sources, and inflammable or explosive objects.

• If a drainage hose is used, the ambient temperature must not be lower than 0 °C to prevent water leakage.

• Do not splash or pour water on the air conditioner.

Why does the ARGO THOR PLUS not start immediately after I turn it on?

The ARGO THOR PLUS is equipped with a system to protect the compressor from overload. This means that the compressor will only start 3 minutes after its previous stoppage. Please wait at least 3 minutes before starting the unit to help prevent the compressor from being damaged.

What should I do if my ARGO THOR PLUS experiences a malfunction?

In the event of an anomaly or malfunction, switch the appliance off and unplug it from the socket immediately. Do not dismantle or attempt to repair or modify the unit. Contact the service centre directly.

How can I maximize the efficiency of my ARGO THOR PLUS?

To maximize air conditioning efficiency, close all open windows. Also, avoid exposing the unit to direct sunlight, as this can cause the appliance to overheat and switch off. Do not use insecticides, oils, detergents, or spray paints near the appliance, as aggressive chemicals may damage the finish and colour.

• Terminal flat fitting to be placed between window knockers

• Condensate drainage pipe

• Circular fitting for kit porthole

• Porthole kit with cap

How do I install the ARGO THOR PLUS using the end fitting for a window?

1. Stretch the flexible hose so that it reaches the outside (max 1.5 m) and hook it to the rear part of the air conditioner.

2. Open the window and lock one of the two leaves with the handle. Rest the terminal connection on the fixed leaf, and bring the other leaf of the window close to it.

How do I install the ARGO THOR PLUS using the window unit kit?

1. To make a hole in the glass, it is advisable to take the porthole kit accessory to a glazier.

Storage:

If not using the unit for a long time, clean the filters before storing. Keep the appliance in a vertical position at all times. Do not place heavy objects on top of it. It is advisable to protect the appliance with a plastic sheet.

Transport:

Transport the air conditioner in the vertical position. If this is not possible, rest it on its right-hand side. When the appliance reaches its final destination, place it immediately in the vertical position and wait at least 4 hours before operating it in cooling mode.

What are some tips for maximizing comfort and minimizing consumption with the ARGO THOR PLUS?

Check that:

• the unit intake and delivery grilles are always free;

• the air filters are always clean; a dirty filter will decrease the passage of air and reduce the unit’s performance;

• all doors and windows are closed to avoid infiltration of unconditioned air;

• the flexible pipe is correctly positioned, without tight bends or curves;

• the room temperature is above 16 °C in cooling and 10°C in dehumidifying.
