The JBC JTSE-1UA Power Hot Air Control Unit has the following features and connections:

The work screen on the JBC JTSE-1UA provides an intuitive user interface with the following information:

• Status Bar: Displays current status icons.

• Time to Stop: Shows remaining time for the current operation.

• Instant Power Supplied to Heater: Displayed as a percentage (e.g., Power 45%).

• Current Air Temp.: The large temperature reading in the center (e.g., 400°C) is the real-time temperature of the hot air.

• Selected Air Temp.: Shown below the current air temperature (e.g., 400°C Selected).

• Selected Air Flow: The large percentage reading on the right (e.g., 80%) is the current air flow setting.

• Current External TC Temp.: Displays the temperature from an externally connected thermocouple (e.g., TC Temp. 20°C).

• Selected External TC Temp.: The temperature set for protection mode (e.g., Protection 120°C Selected).

The main menu on the JBC JTSE-1UA provides quick access to station parameters through the following options:

• Station: Set the station parameters.

• Tools: Set the tool parameters.

• Counters: Display the hours worked in each cycle.

• Language: It is possible to choose the language from a list.

• Reset: Allows you to carry out an overall station reset, restoring all the parameters to their default values. The default PIN is 0105.

The Profiles mode allows you to set up or edit as many as 25 air flow and temperature profiles. To work with profiles, it is essential to use RWB / RWS / RWT rework arms, which support the Hot Air Heater by maintaining the distance and position to the component.

In Profile View Mode, the screen displays:

• Profile Name

• A graph of the temperature profile over time.

• Current Air Temp.

• Current External TC Temp.

• Current Air flow.

In Profile Edit Mode, the screen displays:

• Data for specific points in the profile, including Point number, Temperature, Flow percentage, and Time.

The Menu Options in Edit Mode allow you to:

• Add point

• Delete point

• Load profile

• Save profile

• Exit

Graphics Function:

By pressing “Graphics” in the main MENU, temperature and power figures are displayed in real-time on a graph. The graph plots Power (%), Temperature, and External Temperature over time. This helps you decide which nozzle to use to obtain the best quality solder joints.

Export Graphics:

To save your soldering process data, insert a USB flash drive into the USB-A connector on the top of the station. The station will save the process in a .csv format file on the flash drive.

The following icons may be displayed on the screen’s status bar of your JBC JTSE-1UA to indicate its status:

• USB flash drive icon: A USB flash drive is connected.

• Computer icon: The station is controlled by a PC.

• Robot arm icon: The station is controlled by a robot.

• Circular arrow icon: Station software update is available. Press INFO to start the process.

• Exclamation mark in a triangle (!): Warning. Press INFO for a description of the failure.

• “X” in a box: Error. Press INFO for a description of the failure, the type of error, and how to proceed.

Adjustable Tool Holder:

You can adjust the tool holder angle to suit your work position. Loosen the knob on the side, tilt the holder to the desired angle, and then tighten the knob to secure it.

Operation Modes:

First, from the Tool Settings Menu, select the mode to activate the tool depending on the task.

1. Tool button mode:

• Press the start/stop button on the hot air tool handle to begin blowing hot air.

• Press the start/stop button again to stop blowing.

2. Pedal mode (P405 pedal not included):

• Press the Pedal P405 to blow hot air.

• Release the pedal to stop.

For safety reasons, if the stand is connected to the station, the tool will also stop blowing when it is returned to the stand.

Follow these steps to extract a component using the suction feature of the JBC JTSE-1UA:

1. Placing: Position the extractor with the appropriate suction cup over the component. Press the suction button on the control unit to activate the vacuum.

2. Heating: While the suction is applied, use the hot air tool to heat the component and its solder joints.

3. Extracting: The component will lift off automatically when the solder melts completely.

The recommended method depends on the size of the component you are working on:

• For small components: It is recommended to use the protector and tripod system. This helps to focus the heat and protect surrounding components.

• For large components: It is recommended to use the manual extractors for better control and stability during the heating and lifting process.

You can connect a Type K thermocouple (e.g., PH218) to the TC port on the JBC JTSE-1UA to use it as a protection or regulation sensor. You can define its mode in the “Tool” menu under the “Ext TC mode” option. Fix the thermocouple with Kapton Tape (Ref. PH217) as close as possible to the component being worked on. If the Kapton tape is not ESD-safe, you must use an ionizer.

There are two work modes available:

• Regulation: The station automatically regulates the air temperature to maintain the temperature measured by the External Thermocouple (TC).

• Protection: The station cuts off the air supply when the temperature measured by the External Thermocouple (TC) reaches a preset value.

Note: IPC does not recommend exceeding ramp-up rates over 3-4 °C / sec. (5-7 °F / sec) to reduce the risk of thermal stress on the PCB.

Caution: Always turn the tool off and handle with care. The heating element and the nozzle will be hot.

Nozzle Exchanger Procedure:

1. Removing Nozzle: Place the heating element with its nozzle into the nozzle changer on the stand. Pull the tool away to remove the nozzle, which will remain in the nozzle holder.

2. Attaching Nozzle: Attach the new nozzle and press the nozzle onto the heating element using the opening in the nozzle exchanger for assistance.

In case of a loosely fitting nozzle:

1. Use a screwdriver or flat-nosed pliers to gently push the nozzle tab inwards.

2. Assemble the nozzle onto the JTT tool again.

The JTT Heater Hose Set works with JN nozzles. The following table lists compatible models:

Note: Only perform this operation when the element is cold and the unit is disconnected from the mains.

1. Loosen the screw (1) on the handle of the tool.

2. Pull the worn heating element out of the handle (2).

3. Insert the new heating element, ensuring it is pushed all the way in (2).

4. Tighten the screw (1) to secure the new element.

Compatible Heating Elements:

• JTH1: Ref. 0014105 (for 100V and 120V models)

• JTH2: Ref. 0014107 (for 230V models)

Note: Only perform this operation when the station is turned off.

1. Use a spanner to unscrew the nut (1) that secures the tool hose to the control unit.

2. Remove the old tool hose from the control unit’s connector (2).

3. Insert the new hose, making sure it is pushed all the way into the connector (2).

4. Tighten the nut (1) with the spanner to secure the new hose.

Before carrying out maintenance, always allow the equipment to cool.

• Clean the station screen with a glass cleaner or a damp cloth.

• Use a damp cloth to clean the casing and the tool. Alcohol should only be used to clean the metal parts.

• Periodically check that the metal parts of the tool and stand are clean so that the station can correctly detect the tool’s status.

• Periodically check all cables and tubes for wear or damage.

• Replace any defective or damaged pieces. Use original JBC spare parts only.

• Repairs should only be performed by a JBC authorized technical service.

To replace a blown fuse:

1. Pull off the fuse holder from the rear of the unit. If necessary, use a tool to gently lever it off.

2. Remove the old fuse.

3. Insert the new fuse (must be a 250V fuse) into the fuse holder.

4. Return the fuse holder to the station.

It is imperative to follow safety guidelines to prevent electric shock, injury, fire, or explosion.

• Do not use the units for any purpose other than soldering or rework. Incorrect use may cause a fire.

• The power cord must be plugged into approved bases. Ensure it is properly grounded before use. When unplugging, hold the plug, not the wire.

• Do not work on electrically live parts.

• The tool should be placed in the stand when not in use to activate the sleep mode. The soldering tip or nozzle, the metal part of the tool, and the stand may still be hot even when the station is turned off. Handle with care, including when adjusting the stand position.

• Do not leave the appliance unattended when it is on.

• Do not cover the ventilation grills. Heat can cause inflammable products to ignite.

• Avoid flux coming into contact with skin or eyes to prevent irritation.

• Be careful with the fumes produced when soldering.

• Keep your workplace clean and tidy. Wear appropriate protection glasses and gloves when working to avoid personal harm.

• Utmost care must be taken with liquid tin waste which can cause burns.

• This appliance can be used by children over the age of eight and also people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience provided that they have been given adequate supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and understand the hazards involved. Children must not play with the appliance.

• Maintenance must not be carried out by children unless supervised.
