Note: Always check the lid for damage prior to cooking.

How do I check, remove, and install the sealing ring on my INSTANT POT DUO NOVA?
The sealing ring is an integral part of product safety and must be installed before use and cleaned after each use.
Remove: Pull the sealing ring out from behind the sealing ring rack.
Inspect: Inspect the sealing ring rack. It should be centered in the lid and an even height all the way around.
Install: Place the sealing ring over the sealing ring rack and press it into place. Ensure the entire sealing ring is snug behind the sealing ring rack.
After closing the lid, the sealing ring creates an airtight seal between the lid and cooker base.
Note: An extra sealing ring is included with your cooker. Use one for sweet dishes and one for savory. Only one sealing ring should be installed when using your cooker. Replace your sealing ring every 12-18 months or when deformation or damage is noticed.
CAUTION: Always check for cuts or deformations in the sealing ring prior to cooking. Only use authorized Instant Pot® sealing rings. Failure to follow these instructions may cause food to discharge, which may lead to personal injury or property damage.
CAUTION: Sealing rings may stretch over time. Do not use a stretched or damaged sealing ring. If puckering occurs, replace the sealing ring.
What is the function of the float valve on the INSTANT POT DUO NOVA, and how do I remove and install it?
The float valve has 2 positions. It pops up to indicate when the cooker is pressurized, and it lowers into the lid when the cooker is depressurized.
The float valve and silicone cap must be installed before use to seal in pressurized steam. Clean them after each use.
To Remove:
1. Place one finger on the flat top of the float valve.
2. Turn the lid over.
3. Detach the silicone cap from the bottom side of the float valve.
4. Remove the float valve from the top of the lid. Do not discard the float valve or silicone cap.
To Install:
1. Drop the float valve into the float valve hole on top of the lid.
2. Place one finger on the flat top of the float valve.
3. Turn the lid over.
4. Attach the silicone cap to the bottom of the float valve.
CAUTION: While the float valve is up, the contents of the cooker are pressurized. Do not attempt to remove the lid. Refer to “Venting Methods” for information on releasing pressure.
How do I remove and install the anti-block shield on the INSTANT POT DUO NOVA?
The anti-block shield prevents food particles from coming up through the steam release pipe, assisting with pressure regulation. It must be installed before use and cleaned after each use.
Remove: Grip the lid and press firmly against the side of the anti-block shield (pressing towards the side of the lid and up) until it pops off the prongs underneath.
Install: Place the anti-block shield over the prongs and press down until it snaps into position.
How do I manage the steam release assembly on my INSTANT POT DUO NOVA?
The steam release valve must be installed before use and cleaned after each use.
Remove: Pull the steam release valve up and off the steam release pipe.
Install: Place the steam release valve on the steam release pipe and press down. It fits loosely when installed properly but will remain in place when the lid is turned over.
How should I prepare and use the inner pot of the INSTANT POT DUO NOVA?
The inner pot is an integral part of product safety. Always use an authorized Instant Pot® inner pot made for this model when cooking.
1. Remove the inner pot from the cooker base and wash with hot water and dish soap before first use.
2. Wipe the outer surfaces of the inner pot and the heating element to ensure they are dry and free of food debris. Failure to do so may damage the cooker.
3. Place the inner pot into the cooker base before cooking. Food must be placed only in the inner pot, not the cooker base.
*Note: Always check the inner pot for dents or deformations prior to cooking.
CAUTION: To avoid risk of personal injury and/or property damage, do not pour food or liquid into the cooker base.
WARNING: Do not fill the inner pot higher than the PC MAX – 2/3 line (Pressure Cooking Maximum), as indicated on the inner pot. Exercise extreme caution when cooking and venting food such as applesauce, cranberries, pearl barley, oatmeal, split peas, noodles, etc., as these foods may foam, froth, or spatter, and may clog the steam release pipe and/or steam release valve. Do not fill the inner pot higher than the – 1/2 line when cooking these foods.
How do I install and remove the condensation collector on my INSTANT POT DUO NOVA?
The condensation collector accumulates excess water and should be installed before cooking. It should be cleaned after use.
Install: On the back of the cooker base, align the grooves on the condensation collector over the tabs and push the condensation collector into place.
Remove: Pull the condensation collector away from the cooker base. Do not pull down on the condensation collector.
What are the venting methods for the INSTANT POT DUO NOVA?
When closing the lid, the quick release button will automatically reset to the popped up “Seal” position.
Natural Release (NR)
Leave the steam release in the “Seal” position (up). The cooker dissipates heat so pressure releases naturally over time. This method must be used when cooking food such as soups, stews, or chilis, as well as food that expands, such as beans and grains.
Note: Depressurization time will vary based upon the volume of food and liquid. It may take 10-40 minutes or longer.
Quick Release (QR)
Vent: Press the quick release button down until it clicks. When depressed, a continuous stream of steam will be released through the steam release valve until the float valve drops into the lid.
Note: It will be loud!
If spatter occurs, flick the quick release button to reset it to the “Seal” position, and try again after a few minutes. If spatter continues, use NR to vent the remaining pressure.
Seal: Flick the quick release button to reset it to the popped up “Seal” position.
CAUTION: The float valve will drop when the cooker has depressurized. Do not attempt to open the lid while the float valve is still popped up.
WARNING:
• Do not lean over the steam release valve.
• Do not place unprotected skin over the steam release valve.
• Do not cover the steam release valve.
How do I perform the initial test run (water test) on my INSTANT POT DUO NOVA?
1. Add 3 cups (24 oz / 750 mL) of water to the inner pot.
2. Insert the inner pot into the cooker base.
3. For 3L & 5.7L models: Secure the power cord to the base connection socket. Ensure the connection is tight. Connect the power cord to a 220-240V~ power source. The display will indicate “OFF”.
4. Align the ▾ on the lid with the ▲ on the cooker base. Lower the lid into the track, then turn the lid clockwise until a jingle sounds. The steam release will automatically reset to the “Seal” position when the lid is closed.
5. Select the Smart Program: Pressure Cook.
6. Use the +/- keys to adjust the cook time to “00:05” minutes. After 10 seconds, the display will indicate “On” and the cooker will begin pre-heating. Note: The Instant Pot will save any customization made to the cook time.
7. The float valve rises when the cooker has pressurized. Once pressurized, Cooking begins and the display changes from “On” to the cook time countdown.
8. When the Smart Program completes, the cooker begins Keep Warm or the display indicates “End”.
9. Press the quick release button down until it clicks into the “Vent” position. Pressurized steam will release through the top of the steam release valve. The float valve will drop when the pressure has been fully released.
10. To open, turn the lid counter-clockwise until a jingle sounds.
11. Discard the water and dry the inner pot.
12. Start cooking!
What are the functions of the main control buttons on the INSTANT POT DUO NOVA?
Cancel: Press to stop a Smart Program at any time. The cooker returns to Standby and displays “OFF”.
Delay Start: Postpone cooking up to 24 hours. Select a Smart Program and if desired, adjust the cook time, then press Delay Start to turn the setting on. Use the +/- keys to adjust the number of hours before cooking will begin.
Keep Warm: This setting is on by default on all Smart Programs except Sauté and Yogurt. Once a Smart Program is selected, press Keep Warm to turn the setting off.
Sound On/Off: When in Standby, press and hold the “+” key until the display indicates “S On”. To turn the sound off, when in Standby, press and hold the “-” key until the display indicates “SOFF”. Note: Error code alerts cannot be silenced.
