To use full screen navigation gestures on your HONOR 50 5G NTH-NX9, go to Settings > System & updates > System navigation and ensure Gestures is selected. The available gestures are:

The buttons on your HONOR 50 5G NTH-NX9 have the following functions:

Power off/Restart: Long press the power button until the ‘Power off’ and ‘Restart’ menus appear, then tap the corresponding menu.

Volume up: Press the volume up button.

Volume down: Press the volume down button.

Screenshot: Press the volume down button and the power button simultaneously.

You can choose between Gesture Navigation and Three-Key Navigation on your HONOR 50 5G NTH-NX9.

Use Gesture Navigation:

1. Go to Settings > System & updates > System navigation and select Gestures.

2. You can perform the following actions:

• Return to the parent menu: Swipe inward from the left or right edge of the screen.

• Return to the home screen: Swipe up from the middle of the bottom edge of the screen.

• Access multitasking: Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and pause.

Use Three-Key Navigation:

1. Go to Settings > System & updates > System navigation, and select Three-key navigation.

2. The navigation keys function as follows:

• Back key: Touch to return to the previous menu or exit the current app.

• Home key: Touch to return to the home screen.

• Recent tasks key: Touch to access the recent tasks screen.

You can also touch Settings within the Three-key navigation menu to select a different key combination or enable a key to open the notification panel.

Device Clone allows you to transfer basic data like contacts, calendar, images, and videos from your old phone to your new HONOR 50 5G NTH-NX9.

Migrate Data from an Android Device (Android 7.0 or later):

1. On your new HONOR 50 5G NTH-NX9, open the Device Clone app. Alternatively, go to Settings > System & updates > Device Clone, touch ‘This is the new device’, then touch HONOR or Other Android.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Device Clone on your old device.

3. On your old device, open the Device Clone app and touch ‘This is the old device’. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your new phone by scanning a code or connecting manually.

4. On your old device, select the data you want to clone, then touch Transfer to start cloning.

Migrate Data from an iPhone or iPad (iOS 8.0 or later):

1. On your new HONOR 50 5G NTH-NX9, open the Device Clone app. Alternatively, go to Settings > System & updates > Device Clone, touch ‘This is the new device’, then touch iPhone/iPad.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Device Clone on your old device.

3. On your old device, open the Device Clone app and touch ‘This is the old device’. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your new phone by scanning a code or connecting manually.

4. On your old device, select the data you want to clone, then follow the instructions to complete the data cloning.

Turn On the Screen:

• Press the Power button.

• Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures > Wake screen, and enable ‘Raise to wake’ or ‘Double-tap to wake’.

Unlock the Screen:

• With Password: Once the screen is on, swipe up from the middle to display the password input panel and enter your lock screen password.

• With Face Unlock: Turn on the screen and align it with your face. The device will unlock when your face is recognized.

• With Fingerprint Unlock: When the screen is on, the fingerprint icon will be displayed. Touch the icon with an enrolled finger to unlock.

Set the Screen Timeout Period:

Go to Settings > Display & brightness > Sleep and select a screen timeout period.

Turn on a Shortcut Switch:

Your HONOR 50 5G NTH-NX9 offers several ways to capture your screen.

Take a Full Screenshot:

• Key Combination: Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons simultaneously.

• Shortcut Switch: Swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel and tap the Screenshot icon.

• Knuckle Gesture: Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures > Take screenshot and enable Knuckle screenshots. Then, knock the screen twice with one knuckle.

Take a Scrolling Screenshot:

• After taking a regular screenshot, a thumbnail appears in the lower-left corner. Swipe down on the thumbnail to start a scrolling screenshot.

• Knuckle Gesture: Tap the screen with one knuckle, hold it, and draw an “S” shape. The screen will automatically scroll down. Tap the scrolling area to stop.

Take a Partial Screenshot:

• Knock on the screen with a knuckle and hold it to draw an outline around the part you want to capture. Do not lift your knuckle from the screen while drawing.

• You can then drag the frame to adjust it or select a specific shape.

• Touch the save icon.

Swipe Down with Three Fingers:

1. Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures > Take screenshot, and ensure Three-finger screenshot is enabled.

2. Swipe down from the middle of the screen with three fingers.

You can record screen operations as a video using several methods on your HONOR 50 5G NTH-NX9.

Use a Key Combination:

Press and hold the Power and Volume up buttons simultaneously to start recording. Press and hold both buttons again to stop.

Use a Shortcut:

1. Swipe down from the status bar to show the notification panel, then swipe down again to see all shortcuts.

2. Touch Screen Recorder to start.

3. To stop, touch the timer at the top of the screen.

Use Two Knuckles:

1. Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures > Record screen, and ensure Record screen is enabled.

2. Knock the screen twice in quick succession with two knuckles to start. Knock twice again to stop.

Record Your Voice During Screen Recording:

After starting a screen recording, touch the microphone icon to enable it (it will show as a microphone without a slash). If the microphone is disabled (slashed icon), only system sounds will be recorded.

Adjust Volume: Press the Volume up or down buttons.

Mute an Incoming Call or Alarm: When your device is ringing, press the Power button to mute it.

Change Ringtone and Vibration:

1. Go to Settings > Sounds & vibration and tap Phone ringtone or Notification tone.

2. You can select a system ringtone or tap ‘Music on device’ to choose a local song. For dual-SIM, you can set ringtones for each SIM separately.

3. Tap Vibration to select a desired vibration mode, such as Synchronised (default).

Toggle Ring, Vibration, or Silent Mode with Shortcuts: Swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel and tap the Sound, Silent, or Vibration icon to toggle between modes.

Use Flip to Mute / Raise to Lower Volume:

Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures > Mute ringtone/Reduce volume and enable ‘Flip to mute ringtone’ or ‘Raise to reduce volume’.

Set Default Volumes: Go to Settings > Sounds & vibration to set the default volume for Ringer, Alarms, Music, and Calls.

Enable Split-Screen Mode:

1. Open an app, then swipe inward from the left or right edge and hold to bring up the Multi-Window dock.

2. Drag an app icon out of the dock to start split-screen mode.

• Switch panes: Touch and hold the bar at the top of a pane until it shrinks, then drag it to the other side.

• Exit split-screen: Touch and hold the bar in the middle of the split-screen line and drag it until one pane disappears.

Use the Floating Window:

1. Swipe inward from the left or right edge and hold to bring up the Multi-Window dock.

2. Touch an app icon in the dock to open it in a floating window.

• Relocate: Drag the bar at the top of the window.

• Resize: Drag any corner of the window.

• Display in full screen: Swipe down from the note bar at the bottom of the window or touch the expand icon at the top.

• Minimize: Shake the window quickly to either side or touch the minimize icon to shrink it into a floating bubble.

• Close: Swipe up from the note bar at the bottom or touch the close icon at the top.

Disable Multi-Window: Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Multi-Window, then disable Multi-Window dock.

With Always On Display, your lock screen can show the date, time, and more when the screen is off.

Enable Always On Display:

1. Go to Settings > Home screen & wallpaper > Always On Display.

2. Enable ‘Always On Display’ and set the Display mode as prompted.

Customize Always On Display:

• Animated Display: In the Always On Display settings, under Images, select a picture or animation (like the polar bear) and tap Apply. The polar bear animation changes based on battery level.

• GIF Images: Tap the plus icon under Images, tap ‘Select images’, choose a local GIF or animated photo, and tap the checkmark.

• Artist’s Signature: Under Graffiti, tap a style, enter text, and customize the colour, text size, and stickers.

• Artistic Image: Under Artistic, select a style. You can set the layout and even extract a colour palette from a photo to apply to the image.

• Clock Styles: Under Analogue or Digital, swipe to browse styles, select one, and set related options like ‘Show date’.

The polar bear animation changes its posture based on the battery level as follows:

Precautions for Charging:

• Use the standard adapter and USB cable that came with your device.

• If moisture is detected in the USB port, the phone will stop charging for safety. Disconnect and wait for the port to dry.

• Do not cover the phone or charger while charging.

• Avoid using your phone while it is charging.

Charging Methods:

• Using the Charger: Connect the USB cable to the adapter and your phone, then plug the adapter into a power socket.

• Charging with a PC: Connect your device to a PC with a USB cable. When the ‘Use USB to’ dialog box appears, select ‘Charge only’.

Overview of Battery Icons:

You can project your phone screen wirelessly to a large display like a TV.

1. Prepare the large display:

• If the display supports Miracast, turn on its wireless projection switch.

• If it does not, connect a wireless HDMI adaptor to it and ensure the adaptor is powered.

2. On your phone, swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel and turn on the wireless projection icon.

3. Swipe down again to show all shortcuts and enable Wireless Projection. Your phone will start searching for displays.

4. From the device list, touch the name of your large display or wireless HDMI adaptor to connect.

Use Desktop Mode: After projecting, you can switch to Desktop mode for a computer-like layout on the large display. Go to the notification on your phone, tap ‘Projection mode’, and select Desktop mode. This allows you to use your phone independently while projecting.

Exit Projection: Swipe down from the status bar on your phone and touch Disconnect.

Connect with an Honor PC:

1. On the PC, enable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and PC Manager.

2. On your phone, enable NFC, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

3. Place the NFC area (near the rear camera) of your phone against the HONOR Share label on the PC until your phone vibrates or plays a tone.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect.

Once connected, you can control your phone from the PC, drag and drop files between devices, and edit phone files using PC apps.

Connect with an Honor Tablet:

1. On your tablet, swipe down from the status bar and enable Multi-Screen Collaboration.

2. On your phone, swipe down and enable Bluetooth.

3. Hold your phone close to your tablet and follow the on-screen instructions to connect.

Once connected, you can display your phone screen on the tablet, use phone apps, drag files across devices, and edit files.

HONOR Share is a wireless sharing technology for transferring files between supported devices without using mobile data.

Enable or Disable HONOR Share:

• Swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel, then turn HONOR Share on or off. You can also touch and hold the icon to access its settings.

• Go to Settings > More connections > HONOR Share to enable or disable it.

Share Files Between Devices:

1. On the receiving device, enable HONOR Share.

2. On your sending device, touch and hold to select a file or album, then touch the share icon.

3. Touch HONOR Share, then touch the icon of the receiving device to send the file.

4. On the receiving device, touch Accept to start the transfer.

Received files can be found in Files > Browse tab > Phone > HONOR Share.

Launch the Camera:

• From the home screen, open the Camera app.

• From the lock screen, swipe up on the camera icon in the lower right corner.

Basic Operations:

1. Open Camera.

2. In the viewfinder, you can perform the following:

• Focus: Tap the screen where you want to focus.

• Adjust brightness: Tap the screen, then swipe the sun icon up or down.

• Zoom: Pinch two fingers on the screen or use the zoom slider.

• Select mode: Swipe left or right on the mode area to choose a mode like Photo, Portrait, or Night.

• Flash: Tap the flash icon to select Auto, On, Off, or Always on.

3. Tap the shutter button to shoot.

Special Photography Modes:

• Burst Photos: In Photo mode, touch and hold the shutter button to take a sequence of photos.

• Timed Photos: Go to Camera settings > Timer and select a countdown. Return to the viewfinder and tap the shutter.

• Gesture Control for Selfies: Switch to the front camera, go to settings and turn on Gesture control. Raise your palm towards the camera to trigger a 2-second countdown timer.

Portrait Mode:

1. Open Camera and select Portrait mode.

2. Point the camera at your subject. For selfies, tap the switch camera icon.

3. You can tap the beauty icon to adjust beauty effects.

4. Tap the shutter button.

Night Mode:

1. Open Camera and select Night mode.

2. Steady your phone and touch the shutter button.

3. Your phone will adjust the exposure time. Keep your phone steady until the countdown finishes for a sharp photo.

Wide Aperture Mode:

This mode blurs the background while keeping the subject in focus.

1. Open Camera and select Aperture mode.

2. Touch where you want to focus. For best results, your subject should be within 2 meters (about 7 ft.).

3. Touch the aperture icon in the viewfinder and drag the slider to adjust the blur effect. A smaller aperture value creates more blur.

4. Touch the shutter button.

Shoot Videos:

1. Open Camera and select Video mode.

2. Prepare for shooting:

• Zoom: Pinch with two fingers on the screen or use the zoom bar.

• Focus: Tap the screen where you want to focus. Press and hold to lock exposure and focus.

• Beauty effect: Tap the beauty icon and slide to adjust.

• Video resolution and frame rate: Go to settings > Video resolution and select your desired settings.

3. Tap the record button to start shooting. Tap it again to end.

Shoot 4K UHD Videos:

1. Open Camera and select Video mode.

2. Go to settings > Video resolution and select [16:9] 4K.

3. Return to the viewfinder and tap the record button. Note that features like beauty mode and filters are not supported in 4K.

Use Time-Lapse Photography:

1. Go to Camera > More and select Time-lapse mode.

2. Place your device in a stable position, using a tripod if possible.

3. Touch the record button to start, and touch it again to end.

View Photos and Videos:

• By Album: On the Albums tab, you can view items sorted into albums like Camera and Screenshots.

• By Category: On the Discover tab, Gallery intelligently sorts photos into categories like food, portrait, or scenery.

Edit Photos:

1. In Gallery, open a photo and tap the edit icon.

2. You can use various tools:

• Crop: Select a frame and drag the grid to crop. You can also rotate or mirror the photo.

• Filter: Apply a filter effect.

• Adjust: Change brightness, contrast, saturation, and more.

• More: Add a colour splash, blur, doodle, or text.

3. Touch the save icon when you are done.

Organise Albums:

• Add Albums: On the Albums tab, touch the plus icon, name the album, and add photos/videos.

• Move Photos: Open an album, touch and hold to select items, then tap Move and select the destination album.

• Delete Photos: Touch and hold to select items, then go to Delete > Delete. Deleted items are moved to the ‘Recently deleted’ album for 30 days before permanent deletion.

Share Images and Videos:

• Share a single item: Tap an image or video and tap the share icon.

• Share multiple items: In an album, long press to enter selection mode, select multiple items, and tap the share icon.

Uninstall an App:

• On the home screen, touch and hold the app icon, then touch Uninstall and follow the instructions.

• Go to Settings > Apps > Apps, select the app, then touch Uninstall.

(Note: Some pre-installed system apps cannot be uninstalled.)

Manage Background Apps:

1. Access the recent tasks screen by swiping up from the bottom of the screen and holding (with Gesture navigation) or tapping the square key (with Three-key navigation).

2. You can then:

• Swipe up on an app preview to close it.

• Swipe down on an app preview to lock it, preventing it from being closed when you clear all apps.

• Touch the trash can icon to close all unlocked apps.

Clear the Cache of an App:

Go to Settings > Apps > Apps, select the app, then go to Storage > Clear cache.

Add Contacts:

• Manually: In the Contacts app, tap the plus icon, enter the contact information, and tap the checkmark to save.

• Scan Business Cards: In Contacts, go to the options menu > Scan, aim at a business card, and tap to shoot. The system will identify the information.

Manage Contacts:

• Merge Duplicates: In Contacts, go to options menu > Settings > Organise contacts > Merge duplicate contacts, select the duplicates, and tap Merge.

• Share Contacts: Long press a contact, tap Share contact, and select a sharing method.

• Delete Contacts: Long press a contact and tap Delete. To bulk delete, tap multiple contacts and then tap Delete.

Manage Contact Groups:

1. Open Contacts and select the Groups tab.

2. Tap New, enter a group name, and tap OK.

3. On the group screen, tap Add members to add contacts to the group.

You can then send group messages or emails easily from the group screen.

Make a Call:

• Open the Phone app, enter a number, and touch the call icon.

• Open Phone, touch the Contacts tab, and select a contact to call.

Answer or Reject an Incoming Call:

• Touch the green phone icon to answer.

• Touch the red phone icon to reject.

• Touch the message icon to reject and reply with a message.

Enable Call Waiting:

This feature lets you answer a new call while already on another. To enable it, go to Phone > Settings (three dots) > More > Call waiting. When a second call comes in, touch the green phone icon to answer it, which will put the first call on hold.

Enable Call Forwarding:

1. Open Phone, go to Settings (three dots), and touch Call forwarding.

2. Select a forwarding method (e.g., Forward when busy) and enter the target number.

Use VoLTE to Make HD Video Calls:

Contact your carrier to activate VoLTE service. Once enabled, you can make video calls to other VoLTE-activated devices by tapping the video call icon in the contact’s page or switching to a video call during a voice call.

The Optimizer (or System Manager) app helps you manage your device’s storage, data usage, and more.

Clean Up Device Storage:

1. Open System Manager and touch Cleanup.

2. After the scan, touch ‘Clean up’ next to each item to delete redundant files like app residue and unwanted installation packages.

Manage Data Usage:

• Open System Manager and touch Data usage.

• You can view data consumption by app and set limits for mobile data, roaming, or background data for specific apps.

• Tap ‘Network access’ to restrict certain apps to Wi-Fi only.

• Enable ‘Smart Data Saver’ to prevent apps from using mobile data in the background.

Filter and Block Spam Calls:

1. Go to System Manager > Blocked.

2. Touch ‘Call block rules’ and toggle the switches for the rules you want to enable.

3. You can also go to ‘Blocklist’ to add specific numbers to block.

Wi-Fi:

1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and enable Wi-Fi.

2. Select a network from the ‘Available networks’ list to connect. You will need to enter a password for encrypted networks.

Bluetooth:

1. Turn On/Off: Go to Settings > Bluetooth and toggle the switch, or use the shortcut switch in the notification panel.

2. Pair with a Device:

• Enable Bluetooth on the target device and make it discoverable.

• On your HONOR 50 5G NTH-NX9, go to the Bluetooth settings screen. It will automatically search for nearby devices.

• From the list of ‘Available devices’, select the device you want to pair with and follow the on-screen instructions.

3. Unpair a Device: In the list of ‘Paired devices’, touch the gear icon next to the device name and then touch Unpair.

4. Transfer Files: On the sending device, select the files, tap share, choose Bluetooth, and select the recipient device.

Enable or Disable a SIM Card:

Go to Settings > Mobile network > SIM management, and enable or disable a SIM as needed.

Set Default SIMs:

In the SIM management screen, you can set a default SIM for mobile data and a default SIM for calls.

Enable 5G:

1. Ensure your SIM card plan supports 5G.

2. Go to Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data and turn on 5G for the default data card.

3. To enable 5G on both SIMs simultaneously (if supported), go to Mobile data > More and turn on ‘Dual SIM 5G’.

Share Your Network Connection (Personal Hotspot):

1. Go to Settings > Mobile network > Personal hotspot.

2. Enable Personal hotspot. You can then set the device name and password.

3. Other devices can now connect to your phone’s hotspot to use its mobile data or Wi-Fi connection.

Adjust Screen Brightness:

• Go to Settings > Display & brightness and drag the brightness slider. Enable ‘Automatic’ to let the device adjust brightness based on ambient light.

Adjust Colour Mode and Temperature:

• Go to Settings > Display & brightness > Colour mode & temperature. You can select between Normal and Vivid colour modes and adjust the temperature to be Default, Warm, or Cool.

Use Eye Comfort Mode:

This mode reduces blue light to relieve eye fatigue.

• Enable it from the shortcut switch in the notification panel or by going to Settings > Display & brightness > Eye Comfort.

• You can enable it all day or set a schedule.

Enable Dark Mode:

• Enable it from the shortcut switch or go to Settings > Display & brightness and tap Dark.

• You can also set it to ‘Auto-switch’ based on sunset and sunrise.

Adjust Screen Refresh Rate:

• Go to Settings > Display & brightness > Screen refresh rate and select a rate. A higher refresh rate provides a smoother visual experience.

Add In-screen Fingerprint ID:

1. Go to Settings > Biometrics & password > Fingerprint ID and enter your lock screen password.

2. Tap ‘New fingerprint’ > ADD FINGERPRINT.

3. Place your finger on the in-screen fingerprint sensing area. Press and release, repeating with different sections of your finger until enrolment is complete.

4. Tap OK.

Enrol Facial Data:

1. Go to Settings > Biometrics & password > Face Recognition, and enter your lock screen password.

2. Select ‘Enable raise to wake’ for a smoother experience.

3. Touch ‘Get started’ and follow the on-screen instructions to enrol your facial data.

After setup, you can use your fingerprint or face to unlock the device and access locked apps.

Enable Power Saving Mode:

To extend battery life, go to Settings > Battery and enable Power Saving mode. This will disable some functions, restrict background apps, and weaken visual effects.

Enable Performance Mode:

For maximum performance, go to Settings > Battery and enable Performance mode. This will cause the battery to drain more quickly.

Enable Smart Charge and Smart Battery Capacity:

• Go to Settings > Battery > More battery settings.

• Enable ‘Smart Charge’ to allow the device to learn your charging habits and manage the process intelligently to reduce battery wear.

• Enable ‘Smart Battery Capacity’ to intelligently adjust the maximum available capacity to prolong the battery lifespan.

Display Battery Percentage:

Go to Settings > Battery, touch ‘Battery percentage’, and choose to display it inside or outside the battery icon.

Use App Lock:

1. Go to Settings > Security > App Lock > Enable.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to set the App Lock password.

2. Access: From the lock screen, use the fingerprint or password you set for PrivateSpace. Alternatively, in MainSpace, go to Settings > Privacy > PrivateSpace and tap Log in.

3. Transfer Files: In PrivateSpace, go to Settings > Privacy > PrivateSpace and touch ‘MainSpace to PrivateSpace’ or vice versa to move files between the two spaces.

4. Hide Entrance: In PrivateSpace, you can enable ‘Hide PrivateSpace’ so it can only be accessed from the lock screen.

• Colour Correction: Helps people with poor eyesight see screen content more easily. Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Accessibility > Colour correction to enable and select a mode.

• Magnification Gestures: Allows you to zoom in on the screen. Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Accessibility > Magnification and turn on the switch. Quickly tap the screen twice with one finger to zoom.

• One-Handed Mode: Switches to a mini-screen view for easier use with one hand. Go to Settings > Accessibility features > One-Handed mode to enable it. You can then activate it by sliding across the bottom of the screen.

• Scheduled Power On/Off: Powers your device on and off at set times. Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Scheduled power on/off to set it up.

Back Up Data to a USB Storage Device:

1. Connect your phone to a USB storage device (like a USB flash drive) with a USB OTG cable.

2. Go to Settings > System & updates > Backup & restore > Data backup > External storage and select USB storage.

3. Tap BACK UP, select the data you want to back up, and tap ‘Back up’. You will be prompted to set a password for the encrypted backup.

Recover Backup Data from a USB Storage Device:

1. Connect the USB storage device to your phone.

2. Go to the External storage screen as above and select the backup record from the ‘RESTORE FROM BACKUP’ list.

3. Select the data to recover, tap Restore, and enter the password when prompted.

Restore Your Phone to Default Settings:

Go to Settings > System & updates > Reset. You have several options:

• Reset network settings: Resets Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth settings.

• Reset all settings: Resets network settings, lock screen password, and home screen layout without deleting your data.

• Reset phone (Factory Reset): Erases all data on your device, including accounts, apps, music, and images. Make sure to back up your data before choosing this option.
