Please take note of the following important warnings and safety information for your HAIER BD-100G:

• This appliance is designed for domestic use. If used for professional or commercial purposes, the standards applicable to the respective trade must be followed.

• If you are replacing an old appliance, it is essential to destroy any existing latch or bolt locks on the old unit before disposal to prevent children from locking themselves in.

• The old appliance should be ecologically disposed of by a company specializing in environmental protections, as it may contain harmful components in the coolant.

• After installation, ensure the power plug is easily accessible.

• If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced with an approved cable provided by a manufacturer or a service agent.

• WARNING: Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction.

• WARNING: Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

• WARNING: Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.

• WARNING: Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartment of the appliance, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.

For optimal performance, place your HAIER BD-100G in a cool, well-aired, dry room. Strictly avoid high ambient temperatures and direct sunlight. Installing the appliance near a heat source like a heater or oven is highly inappropriate as it increases power consumption.

If installation near a heat source is unavoidable, a suitable insulation plate must be fitted between the appliance and the heat source (do not use asbestos), and the following minimum distances must be observed:

• From a gas or electric cooker: 3 cm

• From a radiator or oven: 5 cm

• From a wall, piece of furniture, or another appliance: 2 cm

Never obstruct the ventilation grille. The appliance must be placed horizontally and on a level base to ensure proper function. IMPORTANT: After placing the appliance in its final position, leave it to stand for at least 2 hours before switching it on. This allows the refrigerant circuit to stabilize and prevents operating problems.

Before using your freezer for the first time, you should clean it thoroughly. The typical odor of new appliances can be removed by cleaning the interior compartment with a mixture of lukewarm water and vinegar. Do not use washing liquids, sharp or granular cleaning implements, or any cleaning products containing soda. After cleaning, ensure the inner area, especially the corners, is absolutely dry before connecting the appliance to the power supply.

The rating plate, which contains all technical data for your HAIER BD-100G, is located on the housing at the rear of the appliance. It includes information such as:

• Model/Type

• Net capacity (litres)

• Operating voltage (V-50Hz)

• Maximum absorbed power (Watt)

• Safety (Amp)

• Power consumption (kWh/24h)

• Freezing capacity (kg/24h)

It is recommended to copy this data down so it is readily available without having to move the appliance.

The temperature control (thermostat) switches the appliance on and off and sets the cooling temperature. The control is intentionally resistant to turning to prevent accidental changes. To adjust the setting, it is recommended to use a coin or a screwdriver.

The temperature control offers a range of temperatures between:

• Min. / minimum number (slight cooling)

• Max. / maximum number (lowest temperature)

The compressor will stop when the control is set to “0” or “OFF” (not all models have this function). The temperature is factory preset for satisfactory food storage, but you can adjust it for your personal satisfaction. Temperature settings should be adjusted according to the ambient temperature, the quantity of stored food, and the frequency of opening.

Follow these steps to start your HAIER BD-100G:

1. Fully unpack the appliance.

2. Remove the polystyrene parts from the compressor chamber (if supplied).

3. Remove all documents and accessories from inside the appliance.

4. Clean the interior with a mixture of lukewarm water and vinegar, then dry thoroughly with a cloth.

5. Close the appliance lid.

6. Insert the plug into the power socket.

7. Switch on the appliance by turning the temperature control to the right. For the initial start, turn the controller fully to the right to the “Max” position. The green and red lights will turn on.

8. If equipped with a SUPER FREEZE SWITCH, turn it on. The yellow light will also turn on.

9. Do not open the appliance for about 4 hours, or for as long as the red light is on, to allow the interior temperature to drop to the necessary level.

10. You can now fill the appliance with deep frozen food (purchased ready-frozen goods).

11. Turn off the SUPER FREEZE SWITCH after 24 hours at the latest.

12. If you wish to freeze fresh, unfrozen food, refer to the “Freezing/storage of fresh food” chapter.

Your HAIER BD-100G may be equipped with up to three indicator lights, each with a specific meaning:

• GREEN (CONTROL): This light indicates that the appliance is connected to the power supply and is operating. The green light must always be on when the appliance is plugged in and switched on. It is an important indicator of power supply, as the other lights will not function during a power failure.

• RED (ALARM): This light indicates that the interior temperature is too high. It will normally turn on during the initial start-up, after defrosting, or when filling the freezer with fresh food. The red light should go off automatically once the interior temperature reaches approximately -15°C. If the red light stays on for more than 12 to 24 hours, there may be a serious problem.

• YELLOW (SUPER FREEZE): This light indicates that the SUPER FREEZE switch is on. When this function is active, the thermostat function is disabled, and the compressor runs continuously to cool the contents rapidly. This function should be turned off after use.

The general rule is: green = appliance operating; red = ALARM; yellow = SUPER FREEZE ON.

If your HAIER BD-100G is equipped with an acoustic alarm (buzzer), it will sound when the red ALARM indicator light goes on, signaling that the internal temperature is too high. The buzzer is silenced automatically when you turn on the SUPER FREEZER SWITCH.

To freeze and store fresh food correctly, follow these steps:

1. Pack fresh products in portions suitable for your household. This prevents defrosting quantities that are too large for one day’s consumption.

2. Label the portions clearly with at least the following information: product name, weight, quantity, freezing date, and use-by date.

Then continue as follows:

a) Place fresh foods in the pre-freezing compartment at the side or on the bottom of the freezer, which is the coldest part. Avoid putting fresh food in direct contact with already frozen food to prevent defrosting.

b) Only fill quantities of fresh food suitable for the freezing capacity of your appliance within 24 hours (check the rating plate for XX kg/24h).

c) If available, switch on the SUPER FREEZE SWITCH.

d) After 24 hours, move the newly deep-frozen goods from the bottom or pre-freeze shelf to a hanging basket, making space for additional fresh food.

e) Turn off the SUPER FREEZE SWITCH (the yellow light will go off).

f) Set the temperature control according to the filling capacity.

g) Ensure the storage temperature is always at least -18°C. You can monitor this by placing a thermometer inside.

To save energy when operating in a normal ambient temperature of +18°C to +22°C, set the temperature control on your HAIER BD-100G according to the filling capacity as recommended below. Always allow space between the lid and the frozen foods and never fill the storage shelf up to the edge.

• Always remove the power plug before cleaning or defrosting.

• After closing the freezer lid, do not attempt to open it immediately by force. A vacuum seal is created, which will release after 1 to 2 minutes, allowing the lid to be opened normally.

• To prevent condensation and ice formation, allow cooked food to cool to ambient temperature before storing it.

• Leave the freezer lid open as briefly as possible to save energy and prevent excessive ice build-up.

• If the red indicator light stays on for a long period, do not open the lid and take appropriate troubleshooting measures.

• Do not use a screwdriver or other sharp metal objects to remove ice. The interior walls are delicate. Use only plastic or wooden scrapers.

• Do not store bottles containing liquids. Liquid expands when frozen and can cause the bottle to explode.

• Never keep containers with explosive substances (e.g., gas lighters, petrol, ether) in the freezer.

• Eat deep-frozen ice cream and ice lollies only after they have warmed for a few minutes to avoid injury to lips and tongue.

• Avoid touching the inner walls with wet hands for the same reason.

For external appearance, you can clean the appliance with furniture polish or an enamel-protecting product. Never use these products on the inside. Clean the lid seal (B) periodically with warm water, without using any cleaning products.

If your appliance has a condenser (R) in the rear, remove dust and dirt from time to time with a light brush or duster. This improves heat release and reduces energy consumption.

If you leave the appliance out of use for an extended period, leave the lid open to prevent odors from building up. If your freezer has a lock, set it to the “closed” position when the lid is open and keep the key away from children.

Layers of ice and frost on the inner walls act as insulation and should be removed periodically. See the defrosting instructions for how to do this.

The freezer should be defrosted once or twice a year. Never use electrical appliances like hair dryers or devices with a naked flame to defrost the freezer. Proceed as follows:

1. Prepare a suitable non-metallic container (e.g., a plastic container or wash-basket).

2. Make absolutely sure you remove the plug from the power socket.

3. Dry your hands thoroughly to prevent skin damage from contact with ice (use gloves if possible).

4. Remove all frozen food, roll it firmly in newspaper, and place it in the container in a cool, dry room.

5. Cover the container all around with a thick blanket.

6. Lift the divider (H) (if equipped) upwards out of its guide rail.

7. Use the divider as a defrosting dish by pushing it on the side under the freezer where the drain plug is located.

8. Pull the drain plug (if provided) out of the freezer bottom.

9. Scrape the thickest ice carefully from the inside using a plastic or wood scraper and place it in the kitchen sink.

10. To speed up defrosting, you can place a large pot of warm (not too hot) water on the freezer bottom.

11. For freezers without a drain plug, continuously wipe up the water with a sponge.

12. Thoroughly clean the inside with a mixture of warm water and vinegar, then rinse with clear water.

13. Wipe the freezer dry with an absorbent cloth and allow it to air for 3 to 4 minutes.

14. Replace the drain plug (if provided).

15. Empty the defrosting dish and slide it back into the freezer as a divider.

16. Close the chest lid and plug it back into the socket.

17. Set the temperature control to the maximum setting (green and red lamps will turn on) and switch on the SUPER FREEZE SWITCH (if provided) (the yellow lamp will also light up).

18. Now refill the frozen food, placing the oldest items on top. This entire process (steps 1-17) should be completed within a maximum of two hours.

19. When the red lamp goes off, reset the temperature control to a setting suitable for the filling capacity.

20. Switch off the SUPER FREEZER SWITCH (if provided) after 8 to 12 hours, or latest after 24 hours (the yellow light will go off).

If your HAIER BD-100G is not functioning, first check the following possible causes and remedies:

• Appliance position: Did you allow the appliance to stand for at least 2 hours before switching it on to let the refrigerant circuit stabilize? If not, unplug it, close the lid, lift the chest for a moment and put it back down. Wait 2 hours, then plug it back in. Do not open the chest for a further 12 hours or until the red light goes off.

• Power Plug: Is the plug in good condition and properly plugged into the socket?

• Power Socket: Is the socket receiving power? You can test this by plugging in a small appliance like a hand-mixer.

Note: In the event of a power failure, the insulation of the appliance walls provides 10 to 12 hours of storage time. If the problem will take longer to resolve, move the frozen food to another freezer if possible.

If you are experiencing cooling issues with your HAIER BD-100G, check these possible causes and remedies:

• Lid Seal: The lid may not be closing properly, or the seal is not pressing firmly. Test this by placing a piece of paper between the seal and the chest edge. When closed, it should be difficult to pull the paper out. If you can pull the paper out with no resistance on one or more sides, you should notify your after-sales service center.

• Ice Formation: Heavy ice formation on the inner walls can impede cooling. Defrost the appliance as per the cleaning and maintenance instructions.

• Heat Source/Sunlight: The appliance might be exposed to direct sunlight or installed near a heat source (oven, radiator). Protect it from sunlight and check its distance from heat sources.

• Overfilling: You may have filled the freezer with too much warm food, exceeding its freezing capacity (check the rating plate for XXkg/24h).

The compressor (motor) does not operate continuously. It is controlled by the thermostat and switches on automatically when the set temperature is exceeded and off when it is reached. Noise can be heard every time the compressor switches on. This noise is produced by the motor and by the refrigerant flowing in the cooling system circuit. These noises are normal and do not indicate any functional trouble.
