The GRUNDIG GTR5100 dryer is designed for specific uses and requires adherence to safety guidelines for proper operation.

Intended Use:

• The product is designed for household use only and is not intended for commercial use.

• It is not designed for outdoor use.

• Do not install or operate the product where freezing is a possibility, as frozen water in the pump or hoses may cause damage.

• The product should only be used to dry and ventilate laundry that has been washed with water and is safe for machine drying.

Usage Safety:

• The maximum weight of dry laundry before washing is specified in the “Technical Specifications” section.

• Do not place unwashed items in the drying machine.

• Items soiled with materials like cooking oils, acetone, petrol, or stain removers must be washed in hot water with extra detergent before drying.

• If chemicals are used for cleaning, the drying machine should not be used.

• Materials like rubber foam (latex), shower bonnets, water-resistant textiles, and items with rubber foam pads should not be dried in the machine.

• Empty the pockets of clothes and remove items such as matches and lighters before drying.

• Do not stop the drying machine before the cycle is complete unless all items can be removed rapidly and placed where heat can dissipate.

• The final part of the drying cycle is a cooling cycle conducted without heating to ensure items are kept at a safe temperature.

• Use laundry softeners as instructed.

• Do not use the drying machine without the fibre filter in place and prevent fibre accumulation around the machine.

• Do not operate the product with heaters like a gas heater or chimney, as it may cause the flue to catch fire (for models with a flue).

• Do not lean on, sit on, or get on the product.

• Do not place flame sources like candles or cigarettes on or near the product.

• Do not touch the drum while it revolves or the inner surface of the drum during a continuing program, as the surfaces are hot.

• The product must not be plugged in during installation, maintenance, cleaning, repair, and transporting operations.

• If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an authorized service.

• Do not tuck the power cord under or to the rear of the product. Do not place heavy items on it or allow it to come in contact with a heat source.

• Do not use an extension cord, multi-plug, or adaptor to operate your product.

• The product should not be powered via an external switch like a timer.

• The plug must be easily accessible. If not, a mechanism that disconnects all terminals from the mains (e.g., fuse, switch) must be available in the electrical installation.

• Do not touch the plug with wet hands.

• When unplugging the appliance, hold the plug, not the power cord.

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your GRUNDIG GTR5100 dryer.

Choosing the Right Location:

• Place the product on a level and hard surface, then balance it using the adjustable legs.

• Ensure the gap between the product and the floor is not reduced by materials like rugs or wood. The ventilation holes must not be clogged.

• Install the product in a dust-free environment with good ventilation.

• Do not install near flammable or explosive materials.

• The product should not be installed against a door where the loading door cannot be fully opened.

• Place the product with its back surface to the wall (for heater models) and with at least 1 cm of space between the product and furniture edges.

Electrical Connection:

• Plug the product into a grounded outlet protected by an appropriate fuse, conforming to the voltage, current, and frequency values on the type label.

• Do not plug the product into loose, broken, dirty, or greasy sockets.

Stacking on a Washing Machine:

• To use the product on top of a washing machine, a fixing aperture (mounted by an authorized service) must be used between the two products.

• When stacked, the combined weight can be around 180 kg. Place the products on a sturdy floor that can support the load.

• A washing machine cannot be placed on top of the drying machine.

Suitable Laundry:

Only dry laundry with a “drying machine safe” label. Follow the instructions on the labels. Items that are not safe for machine drying may damage the appliance and the laundry.

Unsuitable Laundry:

• Undergarments with metal supports.

• Delicate embroidery textiles, cotton and silk garments, garments made from delicate and valuable textiles, non-breathing garments, and tulle curtains.

Preparation Steps:

• Check pockets for items like coins, metal parts, needles, nails, screws, or stones, as they can damage the drum.

• For laundry with metal accessories like zippers, turn them inside out.

• Close zippers, hooks, and clasps; button up covers; and tie textile belts and apron belts.

• Use the highest possible wringing option in your washing machine to reduce drying time and energy consumption.

• Sort laundry based on type and thickness and dry similar types together.

• Follow the program selection recommendations in the user manual.

• Do not open the loading door during drying unless necessary. If you do, do not keep it open for too long.

• Do not add wet laundry while the machine is operating.

• Clean the Fibre Filter before and after each drying session.

• For condensation models, clean the condenser at least once a month or after every 30 drying sessions.

• Properly ventilate the environment where the drying machine is located.

• For models with a heat pump, check the condenser at least every six months and clean it if it is dirty.

If the laundry in the GRUNDIG GTR5100 exceeds the maximum load capacity, it may not operate as intended and may cause damage. For each program, follow the maximum load capacity specified. The maximum capacity for dry laundry before washing is 8 kg.

Follow these steps to operate your GRUNDIG GTR5100 dryer:

1. Plug the drying machine in.

2. Open the loading door.

3. Place the laundry into the drying machine without jamming it.

4. Push and close the loading door, ensuring no laundry is jammed.

5. Select the desired program by using the On/Off/Program Selection button; the machine will turn on.

6. Press the Start / Stand-by button to start the program. Note that selecting a program does not start it; you must press the Start/Stand-by button.

The GRUNDIG GTR5100 offers various programs for different fabric types and needs.

Dryness level: Use this button before starting a program to adjust to your desired dryness level. Program time may change depending on the selection.

Wrinkle prevention: Press this button to turn the function on or off. If you won’t remove the laundry immediately after the program finishes, this function tumbles the laundry with 10-minute intervals for up to 2 hours to prevent wrinkling.

Audible warning: The dryer makes an audible sound when a program is complete. Press the “Audible Warning” button if you do not want this warning. When pressed, the light goes off, and it will not sound when the program is completed. This can be selected before or after the program starts.

Low temperature: Activate this function only before starting a program if you want to dry your laundry at a lower temperature. The program duration will be longer after activation.

End time: This function allows you to delay the end time of the program by up to 24 hours. To use it:

1. Open the loading door and place the laundry inside.

2. Select the drying program.

3. Press the End Time selection button and set the desired delay time. The End time LED will turn on.

4. Press the Start / Stand-by button to begin the countdown.

Drum Light: You can turn the drum light on and off by pressing this button. The light turns on when pressed and turns off after a certain time.

Starting the program:

Press the Start/Stand-by button to start the program. The Start/Stand-by and Drying indicators will turn on to show the program has started.

Changing the program after it is started:

You can change the program after the drying machine starts running. For example, Pause the program and turn the On/Off/Program Selection button to select a different program (e.g., Extra Dry instead of Ironing Dryness). Then, press the Start/Stand-by button to start the new program.

Cancelling the program:

If you want to cancel the program for any reason after it has started, pause the program and turn the On/Off/Program Selection button; the program will terminate. The inside of the dryer will be extremely hot, so run the refreshing program to allow it to cool down.

Adding and removing clothes during stand-by:

1. Press the Start/Stand-by button to put the dryer in Stand-by state. The drying operation will stop.

2. Open the loading door, add or remove laundry, then close the door.

3. Press the Start/Stand-by button to resume the program.

The Child Lock prevents the program flow from being interrupted if buttons are pressed during a program. When activated, all buttons on the panel are deactivated except for the On/Off/Program Selection button.

• To activate: Press the Audible Warning button for 3 seconds. The child lock warning indicator on the screen will turn on.

• To deactivate: Press the same button for 3 seconds. The child lock must be deactivated to start a new program or to interfere with the current one.

Regular maintenance ensures your GRUNDIG GTR5100 operates efficiently.

Cleaning the Lint Filters:

Clean the lint filter and the inner surface of the loading door after each drying cycle.

1. Open the loading door.

2. Remove the first part (inner filter) by pulling it upwards.

3. Remove the second part (outer filter) by pulling it upwards.

4. Open both filters and remove the fibres with your hands or a soft brush. You can also clean them under water running in the reverse direction of fibre accumulation.

5. Dry the filters before placing them back.

6. Insert the lint filters on one another and place them back in their housing.

Cleaning the Sensor:

The dryer has humidity sensors that detect if the laundry is dry. Clean the metal surfaces of the sensor 4 times a year.

1. Open the loading door. Wait for the machine to cool if it is hot.

2. Clean the metal surfaces of the sensor with a soft cloth dampened with vinegar, and then dry.

Emptying the Water Tank:

Empty the water tank after each drying session.

1. Carefully pull the water tank out from its drawer.

2. Drain the water in the tank. Condensed water is not potable.

3. If there is fibre accumulation in the funnel on the water tank, remove it under running water.

4. Place the water tank back.

Cleaning the Condenser:

Hair and fibre that are not collected by the lint filter accumulate on the metal surface of the condenser. These should be cleaned regularly, at least every 6 months, or if the condenser cleaning icon blinks.

1. Open the toe board by pulling its button.

2. Move the latches to open the air deflector lid.

3. Pull the cleaning brush (located in the documentation bag or stored on the air deflector) to the left to remove it.

4. Clean the fibre on the metal surface of the condenser with a damp cloth or the brush in an up-down direction. Do not clean left-right, as this will damage the metal plates.

5. After cleaning, place the air deflector cover back, move the latches to close it, and close the toe board.

If the drying operation on your GRUNDIG GTR5100 is excessively long, consider the following potential causes:

• Clogged Fibre Filters: The pores of the interior and exterior fibre filters may be clogged. Wash the filters with warm water and dry them.

• Clogged Condenser: The front side of the condenser may be clogged. Clean the front of the condenser.

• Blocked Ventilation Grills: The ventilation grills at the front of the machine may be blocked. Remove any objects in front of the grills.

• Insufficient Ventilation: The room where the machine is installed may be too small, causing poor ventilation. Open a door or window to prevent the room temperature from rising.

• Limescale on Humidity Sensor: Limescale may have accumulated on the humidity sensor. Clean the sensor.

• Overloading: The machine may be overloaded with laundry. Do not load the dryer excessively.

• Insufficient Spinning: The laundry may not have been spun sufficiently in the washing machine. Spin at a higher speed before drying.

If your laundry is still damp after a drying cycle, please check the following:

• Incorrect Program: A program unsuitable for the laundry type may have been used. Check the care labels on the laundry and select an appropriate program, or use additional time programs.

• Clogged Fibre Filters: The filter pores may be clogged. Wash the filters with warm water and dry them.

• Clogged Condenser: The front side of the condenser may be clogged. Clean the condenser.

• Overloading: The machine may have been overloaded. Do not load the dryer excessively.

• Insufficient Spinning: The laundry may not have been spun enough. Spin at a higher speed in the washing machine before drying.

If your GRUNDIG GTR5100 dryer does not turn on or a program cannot be started, investigate these possible issues:

• Power Plug: The power plug may not be plugged in. Make sure the power plug is securely plugged into the outlet.

• Loading Door: The loading door may be open. Ensure that the loading door is properly closed.

• Program Not Set: The program may not have been set, or the Start / Pause button may not have been pressed. Make sure the program is set and not in the Standby position.

• Child Lock: The Child Lock feature may be activated. Turn off the child lock.

If a program stops unexpectedly, check these potential causes:

• Loading Door Not Closed: Make sure that the loading door is properly closed.

• Power Outage: There might have been a power outage. Press the Start / Standby / Cancel button to restart the program.

• Full Water Tank: The water tank may be full. Empty the water tank.

• The water tank may be full. Empty the water tank.

• The water discharge hose might have folded. If the product is connected directly to the water discharge, check the hose for kinks or blockages.

If the fibre filter cleaning icon is lit, it indicates an issue with the filters:

• Dirty Filters: The interior and exterior filters may be unclean. Wash the filters with warm water and dry them.

• Clogged Pores: A layer may have formed in the filter pores, leading to clogging. Wash the filters with warm water and dry them.

• Filters Not in Place: The interior and exterior filters may not be inserted correctly. Insert them into their places.

A flashing condenser warning icon suggests the following:

• The front of the condenser may be clogged with fibres. Clean the front of the condenser.

• The fibre filters may not be in place. Insert the interior and exterior filters into their places correctly.
